Regulation role of miR-204 on SIRT1/VEGF in metabolic memory induced by high glucose in human retinal pigment epithelial cells

AIM:To examine the regulatory role of microRNA-204(miR-204)on silent information regulator 1(SIRT1)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)under highglucose-induced metabolic memory in human retinal pigment epithelial(hRPE)***:Cells were cultured with either normal(5 mmol/L)or high D-glucose(25 mmol/L)concentrations for 8d to establish control and high-glucose groups,*** induce metabolic memory,cells were cultured with 25 mmol/L D-glucose for 4d followed by culture with 5 mmol/L D-glucose for *** addition,exposed in 25 mmol/L D-glucose for 4d and then transfected with 100 nmol/L miR-204 control,miR-204 inhibitor or miR-204 mimic in 5 mmol/L D-glucose for *** reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)was used to detect miR-204 mRNA ***1 and VEGF protein levels were assessed by immunohistochemical and Western *** cytometry was used to investigate apoptosis ***:It was found that high glucose promoted miR-204 and VEGF expression,and inhibited SIRT1 activity,even after the return to normal glucose culture *** of miR-204 promoted apoptosis inhibiting SIRT1 and increasing VEGF ***,downregulation of miR-204 produced the opposite ***:The study identifies that miR-204 is the upstream target of SIRT1and VEGF,and that miR-204 can protect hRPE cells from the damage caused by metabolic memory through increasing SIRT1 and inhibiting VEGF expression.

CO_(2) corrosion of X80 steel welded joints under micro-turbulence induced by welding reinforcement height

Corrosion failure accidents owing to flow erosion and pipeline corrosion frequently occur during *** welding reinforcement height(WRH)can induce locally micro-turbulent flow field,which aggravates local corrosion of welded joints.A high wall shear stress(WsS)experimental setup was established to conduct the online electrochemical corrosion *** influence of WRH sizes on local corrosion of welded joints was studied at different flow *** electrochemical signals of the local corrosion of X80 welded joints at different flow rates were monitored in real time using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and wire beam *** addition,the corrosion products composition and properties were *** results show that the micro-turbulent flow fields induced by the WRHs can enhance ion mass transfer near the welded *** corrosion products on the WRH surface also present different microscopic morphologies at different flow *** strong flow fields,the locally enhanced wsS can peel off the dense corrosion product partially,leading to the electrochemical distribution of large cathode and small anode,which accelerates the occurrence and development processes of the local corrosion of welded *** scientific guidelines for the corrosion protection of long-distance oil and gas pipelines can be potentially provided.

The origin of intermediate helium (He)-rich hot subdwarfs is still *** studies have suggested that some surviving Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) companions from the white dwarf+main-sequence (WD+MS)channel may contribute to the intermediate He-rich hot ***,previous studies ignored the impact of atomic diffusion on the post-explosion evolution of surviving companion stars of SNe Ia,leading to the aspect that they could not explain the observed surface He abundance of intermediate He-rich hot *** this work,by taking the atomic diffusion and stellar wind into account,we trace the surviving companions of SNe Ia from the WD+MS channel using the one-dimensional stellar evolution code MESA until they evolve into hot *** find that the surface He-abundances of our surviving companion models during their core He-burning phases are in a range of-1■log(N_(He) N_(H))■0,which are consistent with those observed in intermediate He-rich hot *** seems to further support the notion that it is possible for surviving companions of SNe Ia in the WD+MS channel to form some intermediate He-rich hot subdwarfs.

Relationship between dietary niacin intake and erectile dysfunction:a population-based study

Existing research on the precise link between dietary niacin intake and erectile dysfunction(ED)is ***,this study aimed to investigate the potential association between dietary niacin intake and the risk of *** logistic regression and restricted cubic splines(RCSs)were used to examine the relationship between dietary niacin intake and *** interaction analysis was performed to assess the impact of different subgroups on the study *** addition,1:1 propensity score matching(PSM)was employed to adjust for potential confounding factors,ensuring the reliability of the *** analyzed data were collected from the 2001–2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)in the *** study encompassed 3184 adults,among whom 863 participants were identified as having *** adjustments for potential confounders,the findings revealed that higher niacin intake,specifically in the highest tertile,was associated with a decreased risk of ED compared to that in the lowest tertile,showing an odds ratio(OR)of 0.56(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.37–0.85).Analysis of dose–response curves illustrated a negative correlation between dietary niacin intake and the risk of *** and interaction analyses fortified the consistency of these ***,PSM corroborated the validity of the *** study suggests an inverse association between dietary niacin intake and the risk of ***,establishing a cause-and-effect relationship remains elusive,and defining the safe threshold of niacin intake to prevent ED requires further investigation.

An integrated north–south paleo-dadu-Anning River: New insights from bulk major and trace element analyses of the Xigeda Formation

The Xianshuihe-Anninghe fault extends SE–S and constitutes the southeastern margin of the Tibetan ***,the dadu River which is associated with the fault does not flow following the path,but makes a 90ºturn within a distance of 1 km at Shimian,heading east,and joins the Yangtze River,finally flowing into the East China *** to the abrupt turn,a low and wide pass near the daqiao reservoir at Mianning separates the N–S course of the dadu River from the headwater of the Anning River which then flows south into the Yunnan Province along the Anninghe ***,many previous studies assumed southward flow of the paleo-dadu River from the Shimian to the Anning ***,evidences for the capture of the integrated N–S paleo-dadu-Anning River,its timing,and causes are still *** study explored the paleo-drainage pattern of the dadu and Anning Rivers based on bulk mineral and geochemical analyses of the large quantities of fluvial/lacustrine sediments along the trunk of the dadu and Anning *** with sands in the modern dadu River,the Xigeda sediments also exhibit a granitoid affinity with the bulk major mineral compositions of quartz(>50%),anorthite(about 10%),orthoclase(about 5%),muscovite(about 5%),and clinochlore(about 4%).Correspondingly,bulk major elements show high SiO_(2),with all samples>60%,and some of them>70%,low TiO_(2)(≤0.75%),P_(2)O_(5)(≤0.55%),FeO*(≤5%),and relatively high CaO(1.02%–8.51%),Na_(2)O(1.60%–2.52%),and K_(2)O(2.17%–2.71%),with a uniform REE ***,synthesizing all these results indicate that these lacustrine sediments have similar material sources,which are mainly derived from its course in the Songpan-Ganzi flysch block,implying that the paleo-dadu originally flowed southward into the Anning River and provided materials to the Xigeda ancient *** rearrangement of the paleo-dadu River appears to be closely related to the locally focused uplift driven by strong activities of the Xians

GRB 210610B:The Internal and External Plateau as Evidence for the Delayed Outflow of Magnetar

After launching a jet,outflows of magnetar were used to account for the achromatic plateau of afterglow and the early X-ray flux plateau known as“internal plateau”.The lack of detecting magnetic dipole emission together with the energy injection feature in a single observation poses confusion until the long gamma-ray burst(GRB)210610B is *** 210610B is presented with an optical bump following an early X-ray plateau during the afterglow *** plateau followed by a steep decline flux overlays in the steadily decaying X-ray flux with indexα_(X,1)~2.06,indicating an internal origin and that can be fitted by the spin-down luminosity law with the initial plateau luminosity log_(10)L_(X)~48.29 erg s~(-1)and the characteristic spin-down timescale T~2818 s.A subsequent bump begins at~4000 s in the R band with a rising indexα_(R,1)~-0.30 and peaks at~14125 s,after which a decay indexα_(R,2)~0.87 and finally transiting to a steep decay withα_(R,3)~1.77 achieve the closure relation of the external shock for the normal decay phase as well as the magnetar spin-down energy injection phase,provided that the average value of the photon indexΓ_γ=1.80 derived from the spectral energy distributions(SEDs)between the X-ray and optical *** closure relation also works for the late X-ray *** to the traditional picture of GRB,the outflow powers the early X-ray plateau by dissipating energy internally and collides with the leading decelerating blast burst as time goes on,which could interpret the exotic feature of GRB *** carry out a Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation and obtain a set of best parameters:■.The artificial light curve can fit the afterglow data *** that,we estimated the average Lorentz factor and the X-ray radiation efficiency of the later ejecta are 35%and 0.13%,respectively.

Comparative analyses of mitogenomes in the social bees with insights into evolution of long inverted repeats in the Meliponini

The insect mitogenome is typically a compact circular molecule with highly conserved gene ***,mitogenome structural variations have been reported in specific taxa,and gene rearrangements,usually the tRNAs,occur in different *** synapomorphies of mitogenome organizations can provide information for phylogenetic inferences,comparative analyses of mitogenomes have been given increasing ***,most studies use a very few species to represent the whole genus,tribe,family,or even order,overlooking potential variations at lower taxonomic levels,which might lead to some incorrect *** provide new insights into mitogenome organizations and their implications for phylogenetic inference,this study conducted comparative analyses for mitogenomes of three social bee tribes(Meliponini,Bombini,and Apini)based on the phylogenetic framework with denser taxonomic sampling at the species and population *** analyses revealed that mitogenomes of Apini and Bombini are the typical type,while those of Meliponini show diverse variations in mitogenome sizes and *** inverted repeats(IRs)cause significant gene rearrangements of protein coding genes(PCGs)and rRNAs in Indo-Malay/Australian stingless bee *** evolution analyses showed that the lineage with IRs have lower dN/dS ratios for PCGs than lineages without IRs,indicating potential effects of IRs on the evolution of mitochondrial *** finding of IRs and different patterns of gene rearrangements suggested that Meliponini is a hotspot in mitogenome *** conserved PCGs and rRNAs whose rearrangements were found only in the mentioned lineages within Meliponini,tRNA rearrangements are common across all three tribes of social bees,and are significant even at the species level,indicating that comprehensive sampling is needed to fully understand the patterns of tRNA rearrangements,and their implications for phylogenetic inference.

Acetylene/argon mixture plasma to build ultrathin carbon bridge of CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2) for high-rate lithium primary battery

Forming an ultrathin conducting layer on a fluorinated carbon(CFx)surface for reducing severe electrochemical polarization in lithium/fluorinated carbon primary batteries(Li/CF_(x))remains a considerable challenge for achieving batteries with excellent rate ***,CFxwas modified by using acetylene/argon mixture plasma combined with MnO_(2)*** CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)composite effectively reduced the voltage hysteresis and improved the electrochemical performance of Li/CF_(x).The excellent rate performance of CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)was due to the high electrochemical activity provided by the atomicscale conductive carbon layer and ultrafine MnO_(2)*** with pristine CF_(x),the charge transfer resistance of the optimized CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)decreased from 218.5 to 48.2Ω,the discharge rate increased from 2C to 10C,and the power density increased from 3.11 to 13.44 kW·g^(-1),The intrinsic reason for the enhanced rate performance was attributed to the fact that the ultrathin carbon layer acted as a conductive bridge to reduce the voltage hysteresis at the initial stage of the Li/CF_(x)discharge,and the high electrochemical activity of the ultrafine MnO_(2)particles provided a faster lithium-ion diffusion rate.
