Resource recycling from waste-water and sludge is an important part of the 14th Five-Year Plan in *** emerging titanium-based coagulants have drawn growing attentions due to their strong coagulation capability in water purification and value-added Ti-loaded sludge *** and recovery of the high value-added sludge into functional nanomaterials is highly significant for both sludge reduction and environmental *** present study was carried out to investigate the recycle of the coagulated Ti-loaded sludge to produce functional C/TiO_(2)composites as the anode materials for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).It is the first time that the application of the Ti-loaded wastewater sludge derived C/TiO_(2)was evaluated for *** experimental results showed that the carbon coating through in-situ carbonization of the sludge produced the C/TiO_(2)composites with a high specific surface area,stable structural integrity,and excellent electrochemical properties that would facilitate Li+diffusion in long-term LIBs *** C/TiO_(2)composites calcinated from the polytitanium sulfate-coagulated sludge at 800℃(N_(2))exhibited the best electrochemical performance during the cycling tests(601 m Ah/g at 100 m A/g after 200 cycles).The research work demonstrates the promising prospect of the recycle and value-added utilization of the Ti-loaded sludge in the production of high-performance C/TiO_(2)composites for energy storage *** study provides a new way for the management and reuse of Ti-loaded waste-sludge.

Facing the escalating effects of climate change,it is critical to improve the prediction and understanding of the hurricane evacuation decisions made by households in order to enhance emergency *** studies in this area often have relied on psychology-driven linear models,which frequently exhibited limitations in *** present study proposed a novel interpretable machine learning approach to predict household-level evacuation decisions by leveraging easily accessible demographic and resource-related predictors,compared to existing models that mainly rely on psychological *** enhanced logistic regression model(that is,an interpretable machine learning approach) was developed for accurate predictions by automatically accounting for nonlinearities and interactions(that is,univariate and bivariate threshold effects).Specifically,nonlinearity and interaction detection were enabled by low-depth decision trees,which offer transparent model structure and robustness.A survey dataset collected in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita,two of the most intense tropical storms of the last two decades,was employed to test the new *** findings show that,when predicting the households’ evacuation decisions,the enhanced logistic regression model outperformed previous linear models in terms of both model fit and predictive *** outcome suggests that our proposed methodology could provide a new tool and framework for emergency management authorities to improve the prediction of evacuation traffic demands in a timely and accurate manner.

A new steganographic method by pixel-value differencing(PVD)using general quantization ranges of pixel pairs’difference values is *** objective of this method is to provide a data embedding technique with a range table with range widths not limited to powers of 2,extending PVD-based methods to enhance their flexibility and data-embedding rates without changing their capabilities to resist security ***,the conventional PVD technique partitions a grayscale image into 1×2 non-overlapping *** entire range[0,255]of all possible absolute values of the pixel pairs’grayscale differences in the blocks is divided into multiple quantization *** width of each quantization range is a power of two to facilitate the direct embedding of the bit information with high embedding *** using power-of-two range widths,the embedding rates can drop using conventional embedding *** contrast,the proposed method uses general quantization range widths,and a multiple-based number conversion mechanism is employed skillfully to implement the use of nonpower-of-two range widths,with each pixel pair being employed to embed a digit in the multiple-based *** the message bits are converted into a big multiple-based number whose digits can be embedded into the pixel pairs with a higher embedding *** experimental results showed the feasibility of the proposed method and its resistance to security *** addition,implementation examples are provided,where the proposed method adopts non-power-of-two range widths and employsmultiple-based number conversion to expand the data-hiding and steganalysis-resisting capabilities of other PVD methods.

BACKGROUND This case report contributes to the medical literature by highlighting the successful management of a neglected femoral neck fracture in a patient with renal osteodystrophy and secondary hyperparathyroidism(SHPTH)who was on dialysis due to end-stage renal disease(ESRD).It underscores the efficacy of parathyroidectomy(PTX)in restoring bone mineral density(BMD)and promoting fracture healing,addressing a significant complication in ESRD *** SUMMARY A 36-year-old female with renal osteodystrophy and on dialysis due to ESRD presented with a history of left patellar tendon rupture and later,a right achilles tendon avulsion *** right hip pain led to the discovery of a neglected right femoral neck fracture,which was initially overlooked due to the patient’s complex medical *** months post-achilles tendon repair,the patient underwent PTX to manage the refractory *** postoperative course included rehabilitation and weight-bearing ***,2 years after osteosynthesis,radiographic assessments indicated a solid union of the periprothesis fracture and significant improvement in BMD,showcasing the efficacy of the treatment *** PTX,combined with appropriate rehabilitation,is crucial for improving BMD and fracture healing in ESRD patients with SHPTH.

Various mobile devices and applications are now used in daily *** devices require high-speed data processing,low energy consumption,low communication latency,and secure data transmission,especially in 5G and 6G mobile ***-security cryptography guarantees that essential data can be transmitted securely;however,it increases energy consumption and reduces data processing ***,this study proposes a low-energy data encryption(LEDE)algorithm based on the Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)for improving data transmission security and reducing the energy consumption of encryption in Internet-of-Things(IoT)*** the proposed LEDE algorithm,the system time parameter is employed to create a dynamic S-Box to replace the static S-Box of *** indicated that six-round LEDE encryption achieves the same security level as 10-round conventional AES *** reduction in encryption time results in the LEDE algorithm having a 67.4%lower energy consumption and 43.9%shorter encryption time than conventional AES;thus,the proposed LEDE algorithm can improve the performance and the energy consumption of IoT edge devices.
