Peer-to-peer(P2P)energy trading is an emerging energy supply paradigm where customers with distributed energy resources(DERs)are allowed to directly trade and share electricity with each other.P2P energy trading can facilitate local power and energy balance,thus being a potential way to manage the rapidly increasing number of DERs in net zero transition.It is of great importance to explore P2P energy trading via public power networks,to which most DERs are connected.Despite the extensive research on P2P energy trading,there has been little large-scale commercial deployment in practice across the world.In this paper,the practical challenges of conducting P2P energy trading via public power networks are identified and presented,based on the analysis of a practical Local Virtual Private Networks(LVPNs)case in North Wales,UK.The ongoing efforts and emerging solutions to tackling the challenges are then summarized and critically reviewed.Finally,the way forward for facilitating P2P energy trading via public power networks is proposed.

Three kinds of tung oil-based structural flame retardants polyols(TOFPs) were prepared by new methods in this paper. First, tung oil was used to produce monoglyceride and diglyceride by transesterification with glycerol by sodium methoxide. The products after transesterification were epoxidized by peracetic acid which was in-situ generated from acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of sulfuric acid catalyst. And then, TOFPs were prepared from epoxidized alcoholysis tung oil(EGTO) with 9, 10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide(DOPO), diethyl phosphate(DEP) and diethanolamine(DEA) by ring-opening reactions, respectively. GPC was used to evaluate the conversion rate, at optimum reaction conditions, selectivity for monoglyceride in transesterification. The influence of different parameters such as temperature, mole ratio or mass ratio on the conversion rate of transesterification and epoxidation were investigated. The molecular structures of TOFPs were characterized by FTIR and ~1HNMR. Finally, tung oil-based polyurethane foams(TOPUFs) were prepared by a one-shot process using TOFPs with polyisocyanate. The LOI values of TOPUFs whose content of DOPO-EGTO,DEP-EGTO and DEA-EGTO were 100 wt% can reach to 26.2%, 25.1%, and 24.4%, respectively.

Smart Local Energy Systems Towards Net Zero:Practice and Implications from the UK

In transition towards net-zero carbon emissions,a high penetration of renewable power generation and electrification of heat and transport at the grid edge will increase total and peak power consumption significantly with greater uncertainties,thus posing serious challenges to electric power systems.Smart local energy systems,which manage distributed energy resources locally with various smart technologies and commercial arrangements,are one of the promising solutions to this problem.This paper provides a comprehensive review and analysis of the practice of local energy systems in the UK in the context of net-zero transition.At the macro level,local conditions,local businesses,profitability,investment and whole electricity system impacts of local energy systems are reviewed.Then,a practical case in North Wales,UK,is analyzed for demonstrating technical,commercial and regulatory arrangements available and needed for setting up a local energy system practice.Implications are summarized for providing a useful reference for developing smart local energy systems within and beyond the UK.

The role of the rare earth element Sm in as-cast Zn-5AI alloy was studied in this work.A three times higher improvement than the control group on corrosion resistance was found with rare earth Sm adding(0.15 wt%).By using an electron prove micro analyzer(EPMA),focused ion beam(FIB)and scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy(SKPFM)techniques,two main mechanisms of the premium performance of the Sm adding were revealed.One was that the non-uniform nucleation and component undercooling induced by Sm adding,reduced theα-AI layer spacing thus improved the covering efficiency of the Al_(2)O_(3)film.The other was that the dissolved Sm in the Zn/Al eutectic structure modulated the electron work function thus induced the attenuation of Volta potential discrepancy.The experimental results show that when the addition of Sm is 0.15 wt%,the minimum Volta potential difference betweenα-AI andη-Zn phases is achieved,and excessive or deficient Sm addition will increase the Volta potential difference.

Nanoparticles reinforced steels have many advantaged mechanical properties.Additive manufacturing offers a new method for fabricating nanoparticles reinforced high performance metal components.In this work,we report the application of low energy ball milling in mixing nanoparticles and micron 316 L powder.With this method,0.3 and 1.0 wt% Y2 O3 nanoparticles can be uniformly distributed on the surface of 316 L powder with the parameters of ball-to-powder ratio at 1:1,speed at 90 rpm and 7 h of mixing.The matrix 316 L powders remain spherical in shape after the mixing process.In the meantime,the effect of low energy ball milling and the addition of Y2 O3 nanoparticles on the powder characteristics(flowability,apparent density and tap density) are also studied.Results show that the process of low energy ball milling itself can slightly decrease the flowability and apparent density of the 316 L powder.The addition of 0.3 and 1.0 wt% Y2 O3 nanoparticles can also decrease the flowability,the tap density and the apparent density compared with the original 316 L powder.All of these changes result from the rough surface of the mixed powder produced by ball milling and the addition of Y2 O3 nanoparticles.The powder’s rough surface can increase the coefficient of friction of powders.The mixture of 316 L powder and Y2 O3 nanoparticles can be successfully used for selective laser melting(SLM).The relative density of SLM 316 L-Y2 O3 is measured at 99.5%.However,Y2 O3 agglomerations were observed which is due to the poor wettability between 316 L and Y2 O3.

Traditional synthesis of sulfonylureas largely depends on nucleophilic addition of arylsulfonamides to presynthesized isocyanates.Now we report a new access to alkylsulfonylureas with good yields and broad substrate scope.With the insertion of commercialized chlorosulfonyl isocyanate under photoredox catalysis,alkylsulfonylureas are synthesized in one-pot from the corresponding anilines and silyl enolates.A reaction mechanism is proposed showing the transformation undergoes a radical process,and the practicality of this methodology is proven via application to bioactive molecules.Additionally,the anti-cancer and anti-virus screening of these compounds is evaluated.

Sepsis remains one of the leading causes of death globally,in spite of advanced developments in intensive care and better understandings of pathophysiology related to sepsis.There is no special treatment or drug available for sepsis,currently.Under normal circumstances,neutrophil is a major player in acute infection control.However,during sepsis,the migration abilities and antimicrobial functions of neutrophils are impaired,resulting in a dysregulated immune response.Recent studies have indeed demonstrated that blocking or reversing neutrophil migration and impaired antibacterial function can improve the outcomes in septic animal models.This article systemically synthesized information regarding related factors and signaling involved in the functions of neutrophils in sepsis.This review also discussed the possibility that neutrophils be used as a marker for specific diagnosis and/or prediction of the outcomes of sepsis.

Kadsura coccinea(Lem.)is a woody wine plant with a peculiar fruit enriched in important health-promoting compounds.The non-editable part of the fruit,i.e.,the seed and peel,represents more than 60%of the fruit and is considered a biowaste.This significantly restricts the development of the K.coccinea fruit industry.Clarifying the metabolic components of the different fruit parts can help to improve the utilization rate and valorization of K.coccinea.Herein,we evaluated K.coccinea fruit peel,pulp,and seed using widely-targeted metabolomics and quantified a set of 736 bioactive compounds from 11 major metabolite classes.The most prominent metabolite classes included lipids,amino acids,flavonoids,and lignans.Furthermore,our results emphasized a significant accumulation of flavonoids in pulp tissues,while alkaloids and lignans were abundant in peel and seed tissues,respectively.A total of 183 metabolites were differentially accumulated among the three tissues.Procyanidin C2,rutinoside,2-hydroxyoleanolic acid,5-hydroxymethyluracil,nootkatol,isoquercitrin,isohyperoside,quercetin-7-O-glucoside,hyperin,and rutin showed elevated accumulation in the peel.In the seed,kadsuralignan G,kadcoccilactone A,kadsuralignan H,lysoPE 20:5,iso-schisandrin ethyl alcohol,and kadangustin were significantly enriched.Our results highlight the diverse metabolome composition of K.coccinea fruit parts,which can be further exploited for its valorization in various industries.

Colorectal polyps are premalignant lesions in the lower gastrointestinal tract.Endoscopic polypectomy is an effective strategy to prevent colorectal cancer morbidity and more invasive procedures.Techniques for the endoscopic resection of polyps keep evolving,and endoscopists are required to perform the most appropriate technique for each polyp.In this review,we outline the evaluation and classification of polyps,update the recommendations for optimal treatment,describe the polypectomy procedures and their strengths/weaknesses,and discuss the promising innovative methods or concepts.
