The impact of earlier flood recession on metacommunity diversity of wintering waterbirds at shallow lakes in the middle and lower Yangtze River floodplain

The hydrological regime in wetlands plays an important role in the process of wintering waterbird metacommunity assemblage.However,increasing frequency of extreme climate and the intensification of human activities,such as the construction of sluices and dams,have resulted in frequently abnormal hydrological regime in the middle and lower Yangtze River floodplain.In recent years,earlier flood recession has become one of the main hydrological problems faced in the shallow lakes,having a great impact on wetland biodiversity.It is necessary to understand the impact of earlier flood recession on waterbirds,an indicator of wetland biodiversity,and the metacommunity concept is helpful to elucidate the underlying mechanism involved in the processes of assemblage by waterbird communities.In this study,we surveyed the wintering waterbirds at three sub-lakes of Caizi Lakes during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 and compared the richness,abundance,alpha and beta diversity of waterbirds in and among local metacommunities under earlier flood recession and normal hydrological regime.The results showed that the earlier flood recession reduced the species richness in the early stage and abundance in the late stage,it also reduced the Shannon-Wiener index in the early stage and increased the dissimilarity between and within waterbird metacommunities in the late stage.The partition of beta diversity showed that the turnover component played a major role in the process of waterbird metacommunity assemblage.It was found that the earlier flood recession reduced the richness,abundance in different stages of flood recession,which also increased the turnover of waterbirds.Metacommunities with high habitat heterogeneity had better resistance to abnormal hydrological regime,which resulted in high dissimilarity between and within metacommunities.The results of this study provide important information for waterbird conservation and water level management at shallow lakes in the middle and lower Yangtze River floodplain.

Stroke is one of the most common causes of permanent disability in industrialized countries and become increasingly prevalent in developing countries. Management of stroke consumes $45 billion annually, and is responsible for greater than one million hospital admissions each year in the U.S. Neurologic sequelae related to cerebral vascular accidents （CVA） severely limit a patient＇s ability to carry out activities of daily living and invariably create an enormous burden on health care costs. As a result, the prevention of CVA with safe treatment of extra-cranial carotid occlusive disease remains an important health care goal.

Hydrogen-bonded organic framework for red light-mediated photocatalysis

The development of heterogeneous molecule-based catalysts for red light-mediated photocatalysis is still challenging due to the improper light absorption for most materials and the photoactivity deactivation for solid assembly.Herein,red light photocatalysis with a hydrogen-bonded organic framework(HOF)is established.This HOF,named HOF-66,is formed from the self-assembly of guanine-decorated naphthalenediimide(NDI)molecule through hydrogen-bonded guanine-quadruplex nodes,showing square grid supramolecular layers confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction analysis.In contrast to unsubstituted NDI HOF,introduction of ethylamino groups to NDI core in HOF-66 tunes strong electronic maximum absorption peak to 619 nm,allowing red light photocatalysis of singlet oxygen evolution proved by 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran degradation and electron spin resonance determination.Particularly,under the same conditions,the sulfide oxidation rate in the presence of HOF-66 was 28 times higher compared to its unsubstituted analogue.This work integrates the molecular design and aggregation effect towards the application of HOFs,opening a new gate for red light photocatalysts.

Thanatomicrobiome,or the postmortem microbiome,has been recognized as a useful microbial marker of the time and location of host death.In this mini-review,we compare the experimental methods commonly applied to thanatomicrobiome studies to the state-of-the-art methodologies in the microbiome field.Then,we review present findings in thanatomicrobiome studies,focusing on the diversity of the thanatomicrobiome composition and prediction models that have been proposed.Finally,we discuss potential improvements and future directions of the field.

Carbon-Based Janus Films toward Flexible Sensors, Soft Actuators, and Beyond

Janus films have attracted widespread interest due to their asymmetric structure and unique physical and/or chemical properties,demonstrating broad and blooming potentials in mechanical sensing,soft actuation,energy management,advanced separation,energy conversion and storage,etc.Among them,based on the unique features of carbon nanomaterials,extensive efforts have been dedicated to exploiting carbonbased Janus films for high-performance electronic skins,soft actuators,and their integration for smart robotics.Drawing inspiration from nature,biological skins can actively perceive external physical/chemical stimuli and further perform specific motion behaviors.However,there still remain challenges of guided structural design principles,an alternative combination of multifunctions,and advanced synergetic applications.Specifically,their intrinsic properties and related device performances are strongly determined by the functional components’coupling,surface wettability,and controllability of the interface structures.The asymmetric combination of carbon nanomaterials and functional polymers in controllable manners can facilitate the design of high-performance sensing,actuation,and integrated devices,enabling the development of smart soft robotics.Therefore,it is highly desired to summarize this research area of carbon-based Janus functional films for sensing,actuating,and integration as well as to have a deep understanding of the relationship between interfacial structures and their performance for directing future development.In this Account,we will summarize the significant advances in carbon-based Janus films mainly conducted by our group and also discuss the relevant important reported works.We start by introducing the basic properties of commonly used carbon nanomaterials and then discuss the general fabrication strategies for high-performance carbon-based Janus films,including solid-supported physical/chemical approaches and interfacial strategies based on liquid support.Among them,we carefully present the typic

Photocatalysis is an effective way to solve the problems of environmental pollution and energy shortage.Numerous photocatalysts have been developed and various strategies have been proposed to improve the photocatalytic performance.Among them,Bi-based photocatalysts have become one of the most popular research topics due to their suitable band gaps,unique layered structures,and physicochemical properties.In this review,Bi-based photocatalysts(BiOX,BiVO_(4),Bi_(2)S_(3),Bi_(2)MoO_(6),and other Bi-based photocatalysts)have been summarized in the field of photocatalysis,including their applications of the removal of organic pollutants,hydrogen production,oxygen production etc.The preparation strategies on how to improve the photocatalytic performance and the possible photocatalytic mechanism are also summarized,which could supply new insights for fabricating high-efficient Bi-based photocatalysts.Finally,we summarize the current challenges and make a reasonable outlook on the future development direction of Bi-based photocatalysts.

Modeling and applying credible interval intuitionistic fuzzy reciprocal preference relations in group decision making

Intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations are powerful techniques used to express uncertain preference information. However, simultaneously providing the exact priority and non-priority intensities could be difficult in real applications. A credible interval intuitionistic fuzzy number (CIIFN) is introduced and a credible interval intuitionistic fuzzy reciprocal preference relation (CIIFRPR) is developed to solve this issue. Unlike intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations, the new preference relations use the CIIFNs to express the preference information such that the decision makers simply provide the priority intensity with interval-valued numbers and calculate the non-preference intensity with the transformed method, which avoids a complex evaluation of non-priority information. Furthermore, some basic operations and comparison laws are investigated, based on which three credible interval intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operators are proposed. Two models are presented to manage the group decision-making. Finally, a practical case is used to demonstrate the feasibility and reasonability of the proposed preference relations and aggregation operators. ? 2017 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information.

Underwater exploration has been an attractive topic for understanding the very nature of the lakes and even deep oceans.In recent years,extensive efforts have been devoted to developing functional materials and their integrated devices for underwater information capturing.However,there still remains a great challenge for water depth detection and vibration monitoring in a high-efficient,controllable,and scalable way.Inspired by the lateral line of fish that can sensitively sense the water depth and environmental stimuli,an ultrathin,elastic,and adaptive underwater sensor based on Ecoflex matrix with embedded assembled graphene sheets is fabricated.The graphene structured thin film is endowed with favourable adaptive and morphable features,which can conformally adhere to the structural surface and transform to a bulged state driven by water pressure.Owing to the introduction of the graphene-based layer,the integrated sensing system can actively detect the water depth with a wide range of 0.3-1.8 m.Furthermore,similar to the fish,the mechanical stimuli from land(e.***.knocking,stomping)and water(e.***.wind blowing,raining,fishing)can also be sensitively captured in real time.This graphene structured thin-film system is expected to demonstrate significant potentials in underwater monitoring,communication,and risk avoidance.

Marine target detection based on Marine-Faster R-CNN for navigation radar plane position indicator images

As a classic deep learning target detection algorithm,Faster R-CNN(region convolutional neural network)has been widely used in high-resolution synthetic aperture radar(SAR)and inverse SAR(ISAR)image detection.However,for most common low-resolution radar plane position indicator(PPI)images,it is difficult to achieve good performance.In this paper,taking navigation radar PPI images as an example,a marine target detection method based on the Marine-Faster R-CNN algorithm is proposed in the case of complex background(e.g.,sea clutter)and target characteristics.The method performs feature extraction and target recognition on PPI images generated by radar echoes with the convolutional neural network(CNN).First,to improve the accuracy of detecting marine targets and reduce the false alarm rate,Faster R-CNN was optimized as the Marine-Faster R-CNN in five respects:new backbone network,anchor size,dense target detection,data sample balance,and scale normalization.Then,JRC(Japan Radio Co.,Ltd.)navigation radar was used to collect echo data under different conditions to build a marine target dataset.Finally,comparisons with the classic Faster R-CNN method and the constant false alarm rate(CFAR)algorithm proved that the proposed method is more accurate and robust,has stronger generalization ability,and can be applied to the detection of marine targets for navigation radar.Its performance was tested with datasets from different observation conditions(sea states,radar parameters,and different targets).
