Long-term outcomes of additional surgery versus non-gastrectomy treatment for early gastric cancer after non-curative endoscopic submucosal dissection: a meta-analysis

Background:Endoscopic resection is increasingly used in the treatment for early gastric cancer(EGC);however,about 15%of endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)cases report non-curative resection.The efficacy of different remedial interventions after non-curative ESD for EGC remains controversial.This meta-analysis aimed to compare the long-term outcomes of additional surgery and non-gastrectomy treatment for EGC patients who underwent non-curative ESD.Methods:All relevant studies published up to October 2021 were systematically searched in the PubMed,Web of Science,and Embase databases.The medical subject headings terms"early gastric cancer,""gastrectomy,""endoscopic submucosal dissection,"and their related free keywords were used to search relevant articles without restrictions on regions,publication types,or languages.The Newcastle–Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale was used to evaluate the quality of the included studies.Odds ratios(ORs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)of 5-year overall survival(OS),disease-specific survival(DSS),disease-free survival(DFS)and hazard ratios(HRs)with 95%CIs of OS were calculated using a random-or fixed-effects model.Results:This meta-analysis included 17 retrospective cohort studies with 5880 patients,of whom 3167 underwent additional surgery and 2713 underwent non-gastrectomy.We found that patients receiving additional gastrectomy had better 5-year OS(OR=3.63,95%CI=3.05–4.31),DSS(OR=3.22,95%CI=2.22–4.66),and DFS(OR=4.39,95%CI=1.78–10.82)outcomes than those receiving non-gastrectomy treatments.The pooled HR also showed that gastrectomy following non-curative ESD significantly improved OS(HR=0.40,95%CI=0.33–0.48).In addition,elderly patients benefited from additional surgery in consideration of the 5-year OS(HR=0.54,95%CI=0.41–0.72).Conclusions:Compared with non-gastrectomy treatments,additional surgery offered better long-term survival outcomes for patients with EGC who underwent non-curative ESD.

Optimizing satellite ground station facilities scheduling for RSGS:a novel model and algorithm

As the rapid increasing of the number of the satellites,the number of facilities of the satellite ground stations is becoming insuffcient and the conflicts of serving satellite data missions exist.To make full use of the facilities of the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station(RSGS),scheduling optimization of these facilities was studied in this paper,which was not well-solved by the original method in the operation system of RSGS.The problem is formulated as a continuous time-based mixed integer linear programming(MILP)model.A decomposition optimization algorithm is proposed to solve the large-scale problem,which is difficult to solve using traditional methods.In the first step,the particle swarm optimization(PsO)algorithm is used to optimize the multi-ground station relay tasks,and the multi-ground station optimization problem is transformed into several single ground station optimization problems.Next,in two additional steps,optimization of the facilities at a single ground station is performed to further reduce the size of the model.The proposed method has been applied to operations systems of RSGS,and the approach presented in this article has demonstrated stable performance and suffcient efficiency online,resulting in the automation of facility scheduling.

Effects of long non-coding RNA Opa-interacting protein 5 antisense RNA 1 on colon cancer cell resistance to oxaliplatin and its regulation of micro RNA-137

BACKGROUND The incidence of colon cancer(CC)is currently high,and is mainly treated with chemotherapy.Oxaliplatin(L-OHP)is a commonly used drug in chemotherapy;however,long-term use can induce drug resistance and seriously affect the prognosis of patients.Therefore,this study investigated the mechanism of Opainteracting protein 5 antisense RNA 1(OIP5-AS1)on L-OHP resistance by determining the expression of OIP5-AS1 and micro RNA-137(miR-137)in CC cells and the effects on L-OHP resistance,with the goal of identifying new targets for the treatment of CC.AIM To study the effects of long non-coding RNA OIP5-AS1 on L-OHP resistance in CC cell lines and its regulation of miR-137.METHODS A total of 114 CC patients admitted to China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University were enrolled,and the expression of miR-137 and OIP5-AS1 in tumor tissues and corresponding normal tumor-adjacent tissues was determined.The influence of OIP5-AS1 and miR-137 on the biological behavior of CC cells was evaluated.Resistance to L-OHP was induced in CC cells,and their activity was determined and evaluated using cell counting kit-8.Flow cytometry was used to analyze the apoptosis rate,Western blot to determine the levels of apoptosisrelated proteins,and dual luciferase reporter assay combined with RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation to analyze the relationship between OIP5-AS1 and miR-137.RESULTS OIP5-AS1 was up-regulated in CC tissues and cells,while miR-137 was downregulated in CC tissues and cells.OIP5-AS1 was inversely correlated with miR-137(P<0.001).Silencing OIP5-AS1 expression significantly hindered the proliferation,invasion and migration abilities of CC cells and markedly increased the apoptosis rate.Up-regulation of miR-137 expression also suppressed these abilities in CC cells and increased the apoptosis rate.Moreover,silencing OIP5-AS1 and up-regulating miR-137 expression significantly intensified growth inhibition of drug-resistant CC cells and improved the sensitivity of CC cells to LOHP.OIP5-AS1 targetedly inhibited miR-

Modeling of kilometer-scale ionospheric irregularities at Mars

Recently, kilometer-scale Martian ionospheric irregularities have been measured by the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN(MAVEN) mission(Fowler et al., 2020). In this study, we carried out a simulation of these irregularities, assuming a uniform Martian zonal neutral wind and a cosinusoidal perturbation of the plasma density as the seeding source. Results show that a vertical electric field shear could be induced by such a plasma density perturbation. We find that the vertical electric field shear causes a velocity shear of the plasma between the topside and bottomside ionosphere, which in turn is able to produce kilometer-scale ionospheric irregularities — irregularities of a smaller scale than were seen in previous simulations(Jiang CH et al., 2021). These kilometer-scale variations with altitude, in plasma density and magnetic field profiles, are comparable to the MAVEN observations.

China＇s Free Trade Ports： Effective Action Against the Threat of De-globalization

With sluggish external demand and increasing trade protectionism by the U5~l and the European Union, China is facing severe challenges in implementing its deeper, ongoing reforms. To respond actively to such challenges, the Communist Party of China ＂s 19th National Congress proposed to ＂promote a new pattern of all-round opening up. ＂ in particular, the establishment of JEee trade ports is considered an important means to realize deeper integration with the world economy. This paper discusses the background, the motivation, the possible challenges as well as a Jeasible path for the successful implementation of free trade ports in China. Based on the international experience, the construction or free trade ports in China requires .freer trade in goods, high mobility of talent and free capital flow.

Nanocrystallization-locked Network of Poly(styrene-6-isobutylene-6-styrene)-g-Polytetrahydrofuran Block Graft Copolymer

Poly(styrene-6-isobutylene-6-styrene)triblock copolymer(SIBS),a kind of thermoplastic elastomer with biocompatibility and biostability containing fully saturated soft segments,could be synthesized via living cationic copolymerization.A novel poly[(styrene-co-methylstyrene)-b-isobutylene-b-(styrene-co-methylstyrene)]-g-polytetrahydrofuran(M-SIBS-g-PTHF)block graft copolymer was prepared to increase the polarity and service temperature of SIBS by grafting polar PTHF segments onto SIBS.A series of the above block graft copolymers with average grafting numbers from 2 to 6 and molecular weights of PTHF branches ranging from 200 g·mol^(-1)to 4200 g·mol^(-1)were successfully synthesized via living cationic ring-opening polymerization of tetrahydrofuran(THF)coinitiated by AgCI04.The introduction of PTHF branches led to an obvious microphase separation due to thermodynamic incompatibility among the three kinds of segments of polyisobutylene(PIB),polystyrene(PS)and PTHF.Moreover,the microphase separation promotes the rearrangement of PTHF branches to form the nanocrystallization-locked physically cross-linked network after storage at room temperature for 2 months,leading to insolubility of the copolymers even in good solvents.The melting temperature and enthalpy of PTHF nanocrystallization locked in hard domains of M-SIBS-g5-PTHF-1.1k block graft copolymer increased remarkably up to 153℃and 117.0 J·g^(-1)by 23℃and 11.6 J·g^-1(respectively after storage for long time.Storage modulus(G′)is higher than loss modulus(G″)of M-SIBS-g-PTHF block graft copolymer at temperatures ranging from 100℃to 180℃,which is much higher than those of the SIBS triblock copolymer.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first example of high performance M-SIBS-g-PTHF block graft copolymers containing segments of PIB,PS and PTHF with nanocrystallization-locked architecture.

Spinal surgery is a technically demanding and challenging procedure because of the complicated anatomical structures of the spine and its proximity to several important tissues.Surgical landmarks and fluoroscopy have been used for pedicle screw insertion but are found to produce inaccuracies in placement.Improving the safety and accuracy of spinal surgery has increasingly become a clinical concern.Computerassisted navigation is an extension and application of precision medicine in orthopaedic surgery and has significantly improved the accuracy of spinal surgery.However,no clinical guidelines have been published for this relatively new and fast-growing technique,thus potentially limiting its adoption.In accordance with the consensus of consultant specialists,literature reviews,and our local experience,these guidelines include the basic concepts of the navigation system,workflow of navigation-assisted spinal surgery,some common pitfalls,and recommended solutions.This work helps to standardize navigation-assisted spinal surgery,improve its clinical efficiency and precision,and shorten the clinical learning curve.

Nanofluids have been effective chemical additives for enhanced oil recovery(EOR)in tight oil reservoirs due to their special properties.However,oil imbibition recoveries vary for different nanofluids.The oil/water distribution in rocks during imbibition using various nanofluids was less discussed in previous studies.In this study,we systematically examined the imbibition efficiencies of various nanofluids at60℃.Furthermore,the migration of nanofluids and oil distribution in the rock pores were monitored using nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).The nanofluids were prepared by dispersing silica nanoparticles and five different types of surfactants i.e.,anionic-nonionic,anionic,nonionic,amphoteric and cationic surfactants in deionized(DI)water.Subsequently,interfacial tension(IFT)and contact angle measurements were conducted to reveal the underlying EOR mechanisms of various nanofluids.The experimental results showed that the EOR potential of the different types of nanofluids was in the order anionic-nonionic>anionic>nonionic>amphoteric>cationic>brine.Anionic-nonionic(sodium lauryl ether sulfate(SLES))and anionic(sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS))nanofluids exhibited excellent capability of wettability alteration,and increased oil recovery by 27.96%and 23.08%,respectively,compared to brine.The NMR results also showed that mesopores(0.1-1μm)were the dominant developed pores in the rocks,and contributed the most to imbibition efficiency.In addition,the imbibition of nanofluids initially took place in mesopores and micropores before moving into macropores.This study provides fundamental information on the selection of nanofluids for EOR in tight oil reservoirs.The study also improved the understanding of oil/water distribution during the imbibition of the proposed nanofluids.

PKMζ knockdown disrupts post-ischemic long-term potentiation via inhibiting postsynaptic expression of aminomethyl phosphonic acid receptors

Post-ischemic long-term potentiation （i-LTP） is a pathological form of plasticity that was observed in glutamate receptor-mediated neurotransmission after stroke and may exert a detrimental effect via facilitating excitotoxic damage. The mechanism underlying i-LTP, however, remains less understood. By employing electrophysiological recording and immunofluorescence assay on hippocampal slices and cultured neurons, we found that protein kinase M（（PKMζ）, an atypical protein kinase C isoform, was involved in enhancing aminomethyl phosphonic acid （AMPA） receptor （AMPAR） expression after i-LTP induction. PKMζ knockdown attenuated postsynaptic expression of AMPA receptors and disrupted i-LTP. Consistently, we observed less neuronal death of cultured hippocampal cells with PKMζ knockdown. Meanwhile, these findings indicate that PKMζ plays an important role in i-LTP by regulating postsynaptic expression of AMPA receptors. This work adds new knowledge to the mechanism of i-LTP, and thus is helpful to find the potential target for clinical therapy of ischemic stroke.

Observability and estimability of passive radar with unknown illuminator states using different observations

Most existing studies about passive radar systems are based on the already known illuminator of opportunity(IO)states.However,in practice,the receiver generally has little knowledge about the IO states.Little research has studied this problem.This paper analyzes the observability and estimability for passive radar systems with unknown IO states under three typical scenarios.Besides,the directions of high and low estimability with respect to various states are given.Moreover,two types of observations are taken into account.The effects of different observations on both observability and estimability are well analyzed.For the observability test,linear and nonlinear methods are considered,which proves that both tests are applicable to the system.Numerical simulations confirm the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
