Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is currently the standard of care for adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients. In recent years, with the continuous development of immunotherapy, such as chimeric antigen receptor T cells, blinatumomab, and inotuzumab ozogamicin, a series of vital clinical studies have confirmed its high response rate and favorable outcomes for ALL. Although the emergence of immunotherapy has expanded relapsed or refractory (r/r) ALL patients’’ opportunities to receive allo-HSCT, allo-HSCT is associated with potential challenges. In this review, the role of allo-HSCT in the treatment of adult ALL in the era of immunotherapy will be discussed.

More flexibility is desirable with the proliferation of variable renewable resources for balancing supply and demand in power systems.Thermostatically controlled loads(TCLs)attract tremendous attentions because of their specific thermal inertia capability in demand response(DR)programs.To effectively manage numerous and distributed TCLs,intermediate coordinators,e.g.,aggregators,as a bridge between end users and dispatch operators are required to model and control TCLs for serving the grid.Specifically,intermediate coordinators get the access to fundamental models and response modes of TCLs,make control strategies,and distribute control signals to TCLs according the requirements of dispatch operators.On the other hand,intermediate coordinators also provide dispatch models that characterize the external characteristics of TCLs to dispatch operators for scheduling different resources.In this paper,the bottom-up key technologies of TCLs in DR programs based on the current research have been reviewed and compared,including fundamental models,response modes,control strategies,dispatch models and dispatch strategies of TCLs,as well as challenges and opportunities in future work.

Aqueous zinc metal batteries are considered as promising candidates for next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices,especially for large-scale energy storage,due to the advantages of high-safety,high energy density and low cost.As the bridge connecting cathode and anode,electrolyte provides a realistic operating environment.In alkaline and neutral aqueous zinc metal batteries,issues associated with electrolyte and anode are still intractable.In this review,we reveal the development and evolution of electrolytes for aqueous zinc metal batteries from alkaline to neutral via the description of fundamentals and challenges in terms of comparison and connection.We also elaborate the strategies in electrolytes regulation and highlight the basic roles and progresses in additives engineering.

Experimental investigation of granular friction behaviors during reciprocating sliding

Granular friction behaviors are crucial for understanding the ubiquitous packing and flow phenomena in nature and industrial production.In this study,a customized experimental apparatus that can simultaneously measure the time history of normal and tangential forces on the inside-shearing unit is employed to investigate the granular friction behaviors during a linear reciprocating sliding process.It is observed that the evolution behaviors of two normal forces distributed separately on the shearing unit can qualitatively reflect the effects of the force chain network.During the half-loop of the reciprocating sliding,the total normal force,which indicates the load-bearing capacity of the granular system,experiences the following typical stages:decreases abruptly and stabilizes momentarily,further decreases significantly to the minimum,gradually increases to the maximum,and then remains stable.These stages are associated closely with the relaxation,collapse,reconstruction,and stabilization of the force chain,respectively.Interestingly,the coefficient of friction(COF)can reach a stable value rapidly within the initial sliding stage and subsequently remain constant.The average COF within stable ranges decreases significantly with the external load G in the power function form,G^(-0.5).Meanwhile,the COF increases slightly with the sliding velocity.Finally,a complete illustration of the dependences of the granular COF on the external load and sliding velocity is provided.Our study contributes to granular friction research by providing an innovative experimental approach for directly measuring the COF and implicitly correlating the evolution of the force chain network.

Nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)is a green propellant with excellent application prospects.A subNewton N_(2)O monopropellant thruster with inner-heater and a N_(2)O self-pressurization stable supply system with regenerative heat compensation are designed in this paper.The experimental research of the thruster is described,including measurements of preheating power,activation temperature,vacuum thrust,specific impulse,life-span and pulsed operation performance.By inserting the heater into the catalyst-bed,preheating efficiency of the heater is significantly improved compared to the thruster with outer-heater.Thus,the preheating power demand of the thruster is successfully reduced to around 10 W.The mean vacuum thrust of 322 mN is attained and the corresponding specific impulse reaches 162s at the mass flow rate of 0.2 g/s.Successful activation temperature of 523 K is achieved,and the activation performance of the thruster is affected by the loading factor.A long term hot-firing test longer than 12000 s is attained.The pulsed operation performance of the inner-preheating thruster is also studied by measuring chamber pressure.Impulses with different magnitudes are produced by adjusting the opening duration of the control valve.A minimum impulse of 81 mN·s is attained.Finally,the performance of the thruster is evaluated by comparison with other thrusters of the same type.The results indicate that the proposed thruster with inner-heater is superior in terms of preheating power,activation temperature and specific impulse performance.

Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) has been widely used in compressor design and analysis. However, reasonable prediction of compressor flow and its impact on compressor performance remains challenging. In this study, Menter’s Shear Stress Transport(SST) model and its variants, as well as the ω-based Reynolds stress model(Stress-BSL) are assessed. For a single rotor(Rotor 67), under the peak efficiency operating condition, all studied turbulence models predict its performance with reasonable accuracy;under the off-design conditions, SST with Helicity correction(SST-Helicity) shows superiority in predicting the effect of flow on the spanwise distribution of aerodynamic parameters. For Darmstadt’s 1.5-stage transonic axial compressor, SST-Helicity outperforms SST, SST with the Quadratic Constitutive Relation(SST-QCR) and Stress-BSL in predicting the performance as well as the spanwise distribution of aerodynamic parameters. At the design rotating speed, the stall margin given by SST-Helicity(20.90%) is the closest to the experimental measurement(24.81%), which is more than twice that by SST(8.71%) and 1.5 times that by SST-QCR(14.14%). This paper demonstrates that SSTHelicity model, together with a good quality and sufficiently refined grid, can capture the compressor flow features with reasonable accuracy, which results in a credible prediction of compressor performance and stage matching.

Understanding the responses of precipitation extremes to global climate change remains limited owing to their poor representations in models and complicated interactions with multi-scale systems.Here we take the record-breaking precipitation over China in 2021 as an example,and study its changes under three different climate scenarios through a developed pseudo-global-warming(PGW)experimental framework with 60-3 km variable-resolution global ensemble modeling.Compared to the present climate,the precipitation extreme under a warmer(cooler)climate increased(decreased)in intensity,coverage,and total amount at a range of 24.3%-37.8%(18.7%-56.1%).With the help of the proposed PGW experimental framework,we further reveal the impacts of the multi-scale system interactions in climate change on the precipitation extreme.Under the warmer climate,large-scale water vapor transport converged from double typhoons and the subtropical high marched into central China,enhancing the convective energy and instability on the leading edge of the transport belt.As a result,the mesoscale convective system(Mcs)that directly contributed to the precipitation extreme became stronger than that in the present climate.On the contrary,the cooler climate displayed opposite changing characteristics relative to the warmer climate,ranging from the large-scale systems to local environments and to the Mcs.In summary,our study provides a promising approach to scientifically assess the response of precipitation extremes to climate change,making it feasible to perform ensemble simulations while investigating the multi-scale system interactions over the globe.

We investigate periodic solutions of regime-switching jump diffusions.We first show the well-posedness of solutions to stochastic differential equations corresponding to the hybrid system.Then,we derive the strong Feller property and irreducibility of the associated time-inhomogeneous semigroups.Finally,we establish the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions.Concrete examples are presented to illustrate the results.

A novel process monitoring method based on convolutional neural network(CNN)is proposed and applied to detect faults in industrial process.By utilizing the CNN algorithm,cross-correlation and autocorrelation among variables are captured to establish a prediction model for each process variable to approximate the first-principle of physical/chemical relationships among different variables under normal operating conditions.When the process is operated under pre-set operating conditions,prediction residuals can be assumed as noise if a proper model is employed.Once process faults occur,the residuals will increase due to the changes of correlation among variables.A principal component analysis(PCA)model based on the residuals is established to realize process monitoring.By monitoring the changes in main feature of prediction residuals,the faults can be promptly detected.Case studies on a numerical nonlinear example and data from two industrial processes are presented to validate the performance of process monitoring based on CNN.

Thrust prediction of a tunnel boring machine(TBM)is crucial for the life span of disc cutters,cost forecasting,and its design optimization.Many factors affect the thrust of a TBM.The rock pressure on the shield,advance speed,and cutter water pressure will all have a certain impact.In addition,geological conditions and other random factors will also influence the thrust and greatly increase the difficulty of modeling it,seriously affecting the efficiency of tunnel excavation.To overcome these challenges,this paper establishes a thrust prediction model for the TBM based on the combination of on-site quality record data and surrogate model technology.Firstly,the thrust composition and influencing factors are analyzed and the thrust is modeled using a surrogate model based on field data.After main factor screening based on the Morris method,the accuracy of the surrogate model is greatly improved.The Kriging model with the highest accuracy is selected to model the thrust and predict the thrust of the unexcavated section.The results show that the thrust model has better thrust prediction by selecting similar conditions for modeling and reasonably increasing modeling samples.The thrust prediction method of TBM based on the combination of field data and surrogate model can accurately predict the dynamic thrust of the load and can also accurately estimate its statistical characteristics and effectively improve the excavation plan.
