Molecular transformation of dissolved organic matter in refinery wastewaters: Characterized by FT-ICR MS coupled with electrospray ionization and atmospheric pressure photoionization

Dissolved organic matter(DOM)in refinery wastewater is an extremely complex mixture of various organic *** mass spectrometry,it is impossible to characterize all of the DOM molecules with only one ionization *** this study,negative-ion,electrospray ionization(ESI),positive-ion ESI,and positive-ion atmospheric pressure photoionization(APPI)were coupled with Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry(FT-ICR MS)to analyze the molecular composition of DOM in a refinery wastewater stream during the treatment *** were obvious differences in the heteroatom composition,number of DOM constituents,and chemical properties in refinery wastewater under the three ionization *** CHO and CHOS compounds detected by(+)ESI,basic CHN and CHON compounds detected by(þ)ESI,and hydrocarbons detected by(+)APPI were analyzed to determine the molecular transformations that occurred during *** an anaerobic biological treatment process,acidic CHO and CHOS compounds with a high oxygen content were preferentially removed,and acidic CHO and CHOS compounds with a low oxygen content were *** an aerobic biological process,acidic CHO and CHOS compounds with a low oxygen content were preferentially removed,and acidic CHO and CHOS compounds with a high oxygen content were *** whole biological treatment process has a poor removal efficiency for CHN and CHON compounds,and *** activated carbon(AC)adsorption process removed different heteroatom compounds mainly with a low oxygen content for acidic and basic *** transformation mechanism of CHO and CHOS compounds in the biological treatment process was analyzed by the Kendrick mass defect(KMD)theory and a mass difference network *** the anaerobic process,large amounts of oxygenated CHO and CHOS compounds were degraded by decarboxylation,deoxydation,demethoxylation,and dehydration reactions,and converted to lower oxygen content *** the aerobic

Intermittent serrated flows of a novel ductile Fe60Ni20P13C7 bulk metallic glass（BMG）at variant strain rates were investigated by statistics *** and clutter distribution of slip-avalanche magnitudes are displayed during stable plastic flows at strain rates of 2×10-4 s-1 and 5×10-5 s-1,respectively,which means that serration behavior depends on the strain ***,the remarkable agreement between measured slip-avalanche magnitudes and the scaling behavior,i.e.a universal complementary cumulative distribution function（CCDF）predicted by mean-field theory（MFT）model,indicates that the plasticity of the present Fe-based BMGs can be tuned by imposed strain rates：Smax^6）ε-λ.This tuned plasticity is elucidated with expended free-volume ***,the scaling behavior of serrated flows for other strain rates can be predicted as well.

Harmonic coordinates for real-time image cloning

Traditional gradient domain seamless image cloning is a time consuming task,requiring the solving of Poisson's equations whenever the shape or position of the cloned region ***,a more efficient alternative,the mean-value coordinates(MVCs) based approach,was proposed to interpolate interior pixels by a weighted combination of values along the ***,this approach cannot faithfully preserve the gradient in the cloning *** this paper,we introduce harmonic cloning,which uses harmonic coordinates(HCs) instead of MVCs in image *** from the non-negativity and interior locality of HCs,our interpolation generates a more accurate harmonic field across the cloned region,to preserve the results with as high a quality as with Poisson ***,with optimizations and implementation on a graphic processing unit(GPU),we demonstrate that,compared with the method using MVCs,our harmonic cloning gains better quality while retaining real-time performance.

Modeling of Material Shielding Effectiveness Against Electromagnetic Pulse in Time-domain

To characterize the shielding effectiveness(SE) of materials against electromagnetic pulse(EMP) that cannot be adequately evaluated by traditional test methods,a transfer function model of SE is *** homemade broadband coaxial fixture,the SE of a metal fabric material against square-pulse and electrostatic discharge(ESD) EMP is tested in the time *** peak SE calculated from the test results matches well with that obtained *** on the system identification theory,we propose the transfer function model of SE,which takes the square pulse and human body model ESD EMP data obtained in the tests as training data and takes the machine model as verification data,as well as a second-order expression of the transfer *** the transfer function model,the waveforms of the shield-penetrated square-pulse EMP and the ESD EMP are actually *** the perspective of system identification,this accurate prediction of the shielded waveform of EMP provides a reliable way for evaluating SE of materials against EMP.

Reducing CO_(2)emissions from the rebalancing operation of the bike-sharing system in Beijing

With the development of the bike-sharing system(BSS)and the introduction of green and low carbon development,the environmental impacts of BSS had received increasing attention in recent ***,the emissions from the rebalancing of BSS,where fossil-fueled vehicles are commonly used,are usually neglected,which goes against the idea of green travel in a sharing *** studies on the bike-sharing rebalancing problem(BRP),which is considered NP-hard,have mainly focused on algorithm innovation instead of improving the solution model,thereby hindering the application of many existing models in large-scale *** study then proposes a method for optimizing the CO_(2)emissions from BRP and takes the BSS of Beijing as a *** initially analyze the spatial and temporal characteristics of BSS,especially the flow between districts,and find that each district can be independently ***,we develop a rebalancing optimization model based on a partitioning strategy to avoid deciding the number of bikes being loaded or unloaded at each parking *** then employ the tabu search algorithm to solve the *** show that(i)due to over launch and lack of planning in rebalancing,the BSS in Beijing shows great potential for optimization,such as by reducing the number of vehicle routes,CO_(2)emissions,and unmet demands;(ii)the CO_(2)emissions of BSS in Beijing can be reduced by 57.5%by forming balanced parking nodes at the end of the day and decreasing the repetition of vehicle routes and the loads of vehicles;and(iii)the launch amounts of bikes in specific districts,such as Shijingshan and Mentougou,should be increased.

Preparations of TiO_2 film coated on foam nickel substrate by sol-gel processes and its photocatalytic activity for degradation of acetaldehyde

Anatase TiO2 films were successfully prepared on foam nickel substrates by sol-gel technique using tetrabutyl titanate as precursor. The characteristics of the TiO2 films were investigated by XPS, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and UV-Vis absorption spectra. The photocatalytic activities of TiO2 films were investigated by photocatalytic degradation reactions of gaseous acetaldehyde, an indoor pollutant, under ultraviolet light irradiation. It was found that Ni^2＋ doping into TiO2 films due to the foam nickel substrates resulted in the extension of absorption edges of TiO2 films from UV region to visible light region. The pre-heating for foam nickel substrates resulted in the formation of NiO layer, which prevented effectively the injection of photogenerated electrons from TiO2 films to metal nickel. The TiO2 films displayed high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of acetaldehyde, and were enhanced by calcining the substrates and coating TiO2 films repeatedly. The high activity was mainly attributed to the improvement of the characteristics of substrate surface and the increase of active sites on photocatalyst.

Pd-based nanoporous metals for enzyme-free electrochemical glucose sensors

Nanoporous metals （NPMs） show potential applications as enzyme-free glucose sensors. There are few reports on nanoporous Pd in this area even though their cost is much lower than other NPMs. In this work, we report the formation of Pd-based NPM with improved catalytic activity towards the oxidation of glucose. By dealloying metallic glasses, Pd-based NPMs with hi-continuous networks were obtained. All the Pd-based NPMs show high electrochemical catalytic activity towards glucose oxidation. In this study, NPM with an open, three-dimensional, ligament-channel nanoporous structure resulted by dealloying metallic Pd3oCu4oNiloP2o, producing a pore size of 11 nm and a ligament size of 7 nm as the best configuration towards the direct oxidation reaction of glucose.

First principles study of post-boron carbide phases with icosahedra broken

Boron carbide (B4C) is a rhombic structure composed of icosahedra and atomic chains, which has an important application in armored materials. The application of B4C under super high pressure without failure is a hot spot of research. Previous studies have unmasked the essential cause of B4C failure, i.e., its structure will change subjected to impact, especially under the non-hydrostatic pressure and shear stress. However, the change of structure has not been clearly understood nor accurately determined. Here in this paper, we propose several B4C polymorphs including B4C high pressure phases with non-icosahedra, which are denoted as post-B4C and their structures are formed due to icosahedra broken and may be obtained through high pressure and high temperature (HPHT). The research of their physical properties indicates that these B4C polymorphs have outstanding mechanical and electrical properties. For instance, aP10, mC10, mP20, and oP10-B4C are conductive superhard materials. We hope that our research will enrich the cognition of high pressure structural deformation of B4C and broaden the application scope of B4C.

Delay-Dependent Exponential Stability Criterion for BAM Neural Networks with Time-Varying Delays

By employing the Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality（LMI）technique,delay-dependent stability criterion is derived to ensure the exponential stability of bi-directional associative memory（BAM）neural networks with time-varying *** proposed condition can be checked easily by LMI control toolbox in Matlab.A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

Enhancement of motor functional recovery in thoracic spinal cord injury: voluntary wheel running versus forced treadmill exercise

Spinal cord injury necessitates effective rehabilitation strategies, with exercise therapies showing promise in promoting recovery. This study investigated the impact of rehabilitation exercise on functional recovery and morphological changes following thoracic contusive spinal cord injury. After a 7-day recovery period after spinal cord injury, mice were assigned to either a trained group(10 weeks of voluntary running wheel or forced treadmill exercise) or an untrained group. Bi-weekly assessments revealed that the exercise-trained group, particularly the voluntary wheel exercise subgroup, displayed significantly improved locomotor recovery, more plasticity of dopaminergic and serotonin modulation compared with the untrained group. Additionally, exercise interventions led to gait pattern restoration and enhanced transcranial magnetic motor-evoked potentials. Despite consistent injury areas across groups, exercise training promoted terminal innervation of descending axons. In summary, voluntary wheel exercise shows promise for enhancing outcomes after thoracic contusive spinal cord injury, emphasizing the role of exercise modality in promoting recovery and morphological changes in spinal cord injuries. Our findings will influence future strategies for rehabilitation exercises, restoring functional movement after spinal cord injury.
