Variation Characteristics of Root Traits of Different Alfalfa Cultivars under Saline-Alkaline Stress and their Relationship with Soil Environmental Factors

Soil salinization is the main factor that threatens the growth and development of plants and limits the increase of yield.It is of great significance to study the key soil environmental factors affecting plant root traits to reveal the adaptation strategies of plants to saline-alkaline-stressed soil environments.In this study,the root biomass,root morphological parameters and root mineral nutrient content of two alfalfa cultivars with different sensitivities to alkaline stress were analyzed with black soil as the control group and the mixed saline-alkaline soil with a ratio of 7:3 between black soil and saline-alkaline soil as the saline-alkaline treatment group.At the same time,the correlation analysis of soil salinity indexes,soil nutrient indexes and the activities of key enzymes involved in soil carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus cycles was carried out.The results showed that compared with the control group,the pH,EC,and urease(URE)of the soil surrounding the roots of two alfalfa cultivars were significantly increased,while soil total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),organic carbon(SOC),andα-glucosidase activity(AGC)were significantly decreased under saline-alkaline stress.There was no significant difference in root biomass and root morphological parameters of saline-alkaline tolerant cultivar GN under saline-alkaline stress.The number of root tips(RT),root surface area(RS)and root volume(RV)of AG were reduced by 61.16%,44.54%,and 45.31%,respectively,compared with control group.The ratios of K^(+)/Na^(+),Ca^(2+)/Na^(+)and Mg^(2+)/Na^(+)of GN were significantly higher than those of AG(pweight(RFW)and dry weight(RDW),root length(RL),RV and RT of alfalfa were positively regulated by soil SOC and TN,but negatively regulated by soil pH,EC,and URE(p<0.01).Root Ca^(2+)/Na+ratio was significantly positively correlated with soil TN,TP and SOC(p<0.01).The absorption of Mg and Ca ions in roots is significantly negatively regulated by soilβ-glucosidase activity(BGC)and acid phosphatase activity(APC)(p<

Under investigation is an integrable generalization of the Fokas–Lenells equation, which can be derived from the negative power flow of a 2 × 2 matrix spectral problem with three potentials. Based on the gauge transformation of the matrix spectral problem, one kind of Darboux transformation with multi-parameters for the three-component coupled Fokas–Lenells system is constructed. As a reduction, the N-fold Darboux transformation for the generalized Fokas–Lenells equation is obtained, from which the N-soliton solution in a compact Vandermonde-like determinant form is given. Particularly,the explicit one-and two-soliton solutions are presented and their dynamical behaviors are shown graphically.

Public medical facilities that are closely related to the health of residents have been recognised as one of the most crucial elements in sustainable urban planning.For the sake of social equality of medical services(especially for emergency medical conditions),the spatial distributions of medical resources need to be accurately measured and continuously optimized.This study presents an effective method to examine night emergency hospital visit and analyse its spatiotemporal characteristics using float car data(FCD).By extracting the hospital service areas,the two-step floating catchment area(2SFCA)methodology was improved to calculate hospital accessibility.Then,the balance between hospital accessibility and population density was analysed.In addition,we investigated the relationship between individual hospital choice preferences and hospital level and analysed several factors that affect individual choices.These results help us understand the special requirements and need of emergency hospital travel in cities and identify areas where medical resources are scarce.They can be used as guidance for urban hospital planning and construction.And the approach of hospital access behaviour investigation and the improved 2SFCA method can also provide insights for other activity-based travel behaviour research.

BACKGROUND As a serious global problem,knee osteoarthritis(KOA)often leads to pain and disability.Manual therapy is widely used as a kind of physical treatment for KOA.AIM To explore further the efficacy of Maitland and Mulligan mobilization methods for adults with KOA.METHODS We searched PubMed,the Cochrane Library,EMbase,Web of Science and Google Scholar from inception to September 20,2020 to collect studies comparing Maitland and Mulligan mobilization methods in adults with KOA.The quality of the studies was assessed using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale for randomized controlled trials.Data analyses were performed using Review Manager 5.0 software.RESULTS A total of 341 articles were screened from five electronic databases(PubMed,the Cochrane Library,EMbase,Web of Science and Google Scholar)after excluding duplicates.Ultimately,eight trials involving 471 subjects were included in present systematic review and meta-analysis.The mean PEDro scale score was 6.6.Mulligan mobilization was more effective in alleviating pain[standardized mean difference(SMD)=0.60;95%confidence interval(CI):0.17 to 1.03,P=0.007;I2=60%,P=0.020]and improving Western Ontario and McMaster Universities function score(SMD=7.41;95%CI:2.36 to 12.47,P=0.004;I2=92%,P=0.000).There was no difference in the effect of the two kinds of mobilization on improving the range of motion(SMD=9.63;95%CI:-1.23 to 20.48,P=0.080;I2=97%,P=0.000).CONCLUSION Mulligan mobilization technique is a promising intervention in alleviating pain and improving function score in KOA patients.

BACKGROUND After undergoing radical cystectomy combined with hysterectomy,female patients may suffer from pelvic organ prolapse due to the destruction of pelvic structures,which mainly manifests as the prolapse of tissues of the vulva to varying degrees and can be accompanied by symptoms,such as bleeding and inflammation.Once this complication is present,surgical intervention is needed to resolve it.Therefore,preventing and managing this complication is especially important.CASE SUMMARY The postoperative occurrence of acute enterocele is rare,and a case of acute small bowel vaginosis 2 mo after radical cystectomy with hysterectomy is reported.When the patient was admitted,physical examination revealed that the small bowel was displaced approximately 20 cm because of vaginocele.A team of gynecological,general surgery,and urological surgeons was employed to return the small bowel and repair the lacerated vaginal wall during the emergency operation.Eventually,the patient recovered,and no recurrence was seen in the half year of follow-up.CONCLUSION We review the surgical approach for such patients,analyze high-risk factors for the disease and suggest corresponding preventive measures.

BACKGROUND Severe acute pancreatitis(AP)is one of the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and carries a significant financial burden with high disability and mortality.There are no effective drugs in the clinical management of severe AP,and there is an absence of evidence-based medicine concerning the treatment of severe AP.AIM To explore whether ulinastatin(UTI)can improve the outcome of severe AP.METHODS The present research included patients who were hospitalized in intensive critical care units(ICUs)after being diagnosed with severe AP.Patients received UTI(400000 IU)or placebos utilizing computer-based random sequencing(in a 1:1 ratio).The primary outcome measures were 7-d mortality,clinical efficacy,inflammatory response,coagulation function,infection,liver function,renal function,and drug-related adverse effects were evaluated.RESULTS A total of 181 individuals were classified into two groups,namely,the placebo group(n=90)and the UTI group(n=91).There were no statistically significant differences in baseline clinical data between the two groups.The 7-d mortality and clinical efficacy in the UTI group were remarkably improved compared with those in the placebo group.UTI can protect against hyperinflammation and improve coagulation dysfunction,infection,liver function,and renal function.UTI patients had markedly decreased hospital stays and hospitalization expenditures compared with the placebo group.CONCLUSION The findings from the present research indicated that UTI can improve the clinical outcomes of patients with severe AP and has fewer adverse reactions.

Our previous studies suggested a potential interaction between the POK erythroid myeloid ontogenic factor ZBTB7A and glucose transporter 1(GLUT1)in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).This study was designed to confirm the interaction and further evaluate the precise mechanism by which ZBTB7A and GLUT1 regulate NPC development.The binding sites between ZBTB7A and the promoter of GLUT1 were predicted by bioinformatics.Gene expression was measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),western blotting,and immunohistochemistry.The activities of key glycolysis enzymes,including hexokinase(HK),pyruvate kinase(PK),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and lactate,were detected using specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits.The connection between ZBTB7A and GLUT1 was analyzed by dual-luciferase reporter assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation-qPCR.The vitality,proliferation,and tumorigenicity of the cells expressing different levels of ZBTB7A were tested by adding the glycolysis inhibitor 2-deoxy-D-glucose(2-DG),followed by MTT,colorimetric focus forming,and xenograft assays,respectively.Our results showed that high expression of GLUT1 was associated with late-stage NPC.After constructing stably transfected cells with lentiviruses,ZBTB7A was effectively knocked down in 5-8F cells(RNAi-5-8F)and overexpressed in 6-10B cells(ZBTB7A-6-10B).The up-or downregulation of GLUT1 secondary to ZBTB7A changes was also limited.The vitality and proliferation of the cells expressing low ZBTB7A were notably blocked by 2-DG.The cells expressing high ZBTB7A were not very sensitive to 2-DG.The growth of RNAi-5-8F xenografts was strongly suppressed by 2-DG.The activities of HK,PK,and LDH were suppressed by 2-DG in the cells expressing low ZBTB7A.RNAi-5-8F cells had the lowest 2-DG-induced lactate production.ZBTB7A directly suppressed the promoter region of GLUT1 to regulate GLUT1 expression.Thus,ZBTB7A controls the 2-DG-induced inhibition of glycolysis by affecting GLUT1.

BACKGROUND Venous thromboembolism(VTE)is a common neurosurgical complication after brain tumor resection,and its prophylaxis has been widely studied.There are no effective drugs in the clinical management of venous thromboembolism,and there is an absence of evidence-based medicine concerning the treatment of severe multiple traumas.AIM To explore whether ulinastatin(UTI)can prevent VTE after brain tumor resection.METHODS The present research included patients who underwent brain tumor resection.Patients received UTIs(400,000 IU)or placebos utilizing computer-based random sequencing(in a 1:1 ratio).The primary outcome measures were the incidence of VTE,coagulation function,pulmonary emboli,liver function,renal function,and drug-related adverse effects.RESULTS A total of 405 patients were evaluated between January 2019 and December 2021,and 361 of these were initially enrolled in the study to form intention-to-treat,which was given UTI(n=180)or placebo(n=181)treatment in a random manner.There were no statistically significant differences in baseline clinical data between the two groups.The incidence of VTE in the UTI group was remarkably improved compared with that in the placebo group.UTI can improve coagulation dysfunction,pulmonary emboli,liver function,and renal function.No significant difference was identified between the two groups in the side effects of UTI-induced diarrhea,vomiting,hospital stays,or hospitalization costs.The incidence of allergies was higher in the UTI group than in the placebo group.CONCLUSION The findings from the present research indicated that UTI can decrease the incidence of VTE and clinical outcomes of patients after brain tumor resection and has fewer adverse reactions.

Fluoropyrimidine-based combination chemotherapy plus targeted therapy is the standard initial treatment for unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),but the prognosis remains poor.This phase 3 trial(ClinicalTrials.gov:NCT03950154)assessed the efficacy and adverse events(AEs)of the combination of PD-1 blockade-activated DC-CIK(PD1-T)cells with XELOX plus bevacizumab as a first-line therapy in patients with mCRC.A total of 202 participants were enrolled and randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either first-line XELOX plus bevacizumab(the control group,n=102)or the same regimen plus autologous PD1-T cell immunotherapy(the immunotherapy group,n=100)every 21 days for up to 6 cycles,followed by maintenance treatment with capecitabine and bevacizumab.The main endpoint of the trial was progression-free survival(PFS).The median follow-up was 19.5 months.Median PFS was 14.8 months(95%CI,11.6-18.0)for the immunotherapy group compared with 9.9 months(8.0-11.8)for the control group(hazard ratio[HR],0.60[95%CI,0.40-0.88];p=0.009).Median overall survival(OS)was not reached for the immunotherapy group and 25.6 months(95%CI,18.3-32.8)for the control group(HR,0.57[95%CI,0.33-0.98];p=0.043).Grade 3 or higher AEs occurred in 20.0%of patients in the immunotherapy group and 23.5%in the control groups,with no toxicity-associated deaths reported.The addition of PD1-T cells to first-line XELOX plus bevacizumab demonstrates significant clinical improvement of PFS and OS with well tolerability in patients with previously untreated mCRC.
