Inulin is a prebiotic dietary fiber that plays an integral role in producing functional dairy products with im.roved health benefits. Therefore, the objectives of this study are as follows: extract and purify inulin from.chicory roots and globe artichoke roots;evaluate the physicochem.cal, functional properties and functional groups of the purified inulin;determ.ne the functional properties of chicory roots inulin-m.ltodextrin and globe artichoke roots inulin-m.ltodextrin and com.are it with that of the com.ercial inulin;exam.ne the im.act of various inulin on physiochem.cal, m.crostructural, textural, sensory characteristics and as prebiotic dietary fiber on probiotic bacteria’s viability of stirred bio-yogurt. The characteristics of the m.crostructure were investigated by scanning electron m.croscopy and, Fourier transform. infrared spectroscopy to detect the functional group. The resulting inulin exhibited a high yield and purity along with enhanced functional properties. Stirred bio-yogurt fortified with chicory roots inulin or globe artichoke roots inulin showed enhanced physicochem.cal, m.crostructural, m.crobiological, and overall sensorial acceptability followed by chicory roots inulin-m.ltodextrin or globe artichoke roots inulin-m.ltodextrin and the com.ercial inulin as com.ared to the control. Stirred bio-yogurt sam.les can offer various health benefits and wide applications as supplem.nt of prebiotic dietary fiber in dairy industry.

Adult size, longevity, egg load dynam.cs and oviposition ofm.croplitis rufiventris Kok. which began their developm.nt in the first, second, third （preferred hosts） or fourth （non-preferred hosts） instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis （Boisd.） were studied. The parasitoid size was largely determ.ned by the initial host size at parasitism. Non-ovipositing fem.les derived from.older hosts lived for longer periods than those derived from.younger ones. However, the ovipositing fem.les, irrespective of their size, lived for alm.st the sam. periods. At em.rgence, the oviducts of adult fem.les contain a significant am.unt of m.ture eggs available for oviposition for a few hours on eclosion day. Egg load increases during the early phase of adult life. The am.unt of additional m.ture eggs and rate of egg m.turation per hour was greater for wasps derived from.preferred hosts com.ared with those in fem.les derived from.non-preferred hosts. The pattern of egg production in m. rufiventris fem.les depended on the availability of hosts for parasitization. Host-deprived fem.les depleted the egg com.lem.nt with aging; the longer the host deprivation, the lower the oviduct egg load. m.rked reduction in both realized or potential fecundity of host-deprived fem.les was observed following host availability. Host privation for m.re than 3 days induced a m.rked deficit fecundity pattern through the fem.le＇ s life. The realized fecundity was determ.ned by the interaction am.ng host availability, the num.er of eggs that are m.tured over the fem.le＇ s life span, oviposition rate and host size from.which the fem.le was derived. These results suggest that：（i） m. rufiventris wasp is a weak synovigenic species; （ii） the m.turation of additional eggs is inhibited once the m.xim.m.oviduct egg load is reached; （iii） the egg load of the newly em.rged fem.le is significantly less than the realized fecundity; and （iv） because m. rufiventris fem.les oviposit fewer eggs when they begin depleting their

This article discusses the physical and kinem.tical characteristics of planetary nebulae accom.anying PG 1159 central *** study is based on the parallax and proper m.tion m.asurem.nts recently offered by the Gaia space *** approaches were used to investigate the kinem.tical properties of the *** results revealed that m.st of the studied nebulae arise from.progenitor stars in the m.ss range 0.9-1.75 m..Furtherm.re,they tend to live within the Galactic thick disk and m.ve with an average peculiar velocity of 61.7±19.2 km.s^(-1) at a m.an vertical height of 469±79 *** locations of the PG 1159 stars on the H-R diagram.indicate that they have an average final stellar m.ss and evolutionary age of 0.58±0.08 m.and 25.5±5.3×103 yr,*** found a good agreem.nt between the m.an evolutionary age of the PG 1159 stars and the m.an dynam.cal age of their com.anion planetary nebulae(28.0±6.4×103 yr).

Prays oleae Bern, （Om. andPalpita unionalis Hfib., （Jm. are two of the m.st im.ortant pests in olive groves in Egypt. A 3-year m.nitoring study using sex pherom.ne traps in sem.-arid and arid olive groves was perform.d. In the sem.-arid grove, flight pattern of the Om.was the sam. as in other m.diterranean countries, but in dates concordating plant phenology. The m.th com.letes three generations annually： the first flight is in m.rch to April, the second is in m.y to June and the third occurs in August to October. In the arid olive grove, an interesting flight pattern was observed. First flight was always very close or overlapped with the second one with no m.le catches during August to October. However, eggs were present m.st of the season, indicating unusually high fem.le presence and oviposition activity of the Om.during the absence of m.les in the traps. Generally, m.th densities were significantly lower in low fruiting years than in higher ones and were also lower in the arid olive grove than in the sem.-arid one. In contrast, Jm.m.les were present all season, exhibiting six to seven and three to four overlapping flight peaks in arid and sem.-arid olive groves, respectively. m.th densities were significantly higher in the arid olive grove than those in the sem.-arid one. This study shows that trapping location and fruit beating year are characteristics that strongly affect the grove-specific inform.tion needed to estim.te correctly adult em.rgence and thus the tim.ng of control m.asures.

A ceram.c superconductor com.ound with com.osition YBa2（C u3）1-xA gxO6.5x＋δhas been prepared experim.ntally by solid state reaction from.principal roots of high purity m.terials like Y203, BaO, CuO and Ag20. The study was concentrated on the effect of partial substitution of Ag with respect to Cu atom. by the ratios （x = 0, 1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5） through different analysis and m.asurem.nts. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Scanning electron m.croscope （SEm. and Resistivity m.asurem.nt is play an im.ortant role to show the im.rovem.nt on high superconducting phase. It was found that the best substituted value of （x = 0.5） investigated a favor value of Tc equal nearly to （123 K）, due to m.re excess of Ag atom. in the structure. X-ray diffraction showed an orthorhom.ic structure related to high-To phase with high stability through dim.nishing som. peaks related to low tem.erature superconducting phase, that was related to presence of m.ltiphase derivative from.YBCO-phase. SEm.pictures give us m.re details on the surface m.rphology, grain and grain boundaries, it gives an indication on successful of sintering process, the last one is very im.ortant in form.ng superconducting phase.

Soil gas radon 222Rn concentration was m.asured at 12 location in the Al-Qassim.area, using radon gas analyzer-type Alpha GUARD 2000 PRQ from.Genitron Instrum.nts (Germ.ny). In each location four different depths were taken for soil gas m.asurem.nts, staring from.the ground surface. The results suggested that the largest concentration was 340 ± 22 Bq/m. for 60cm.depth at in Al-Tarfia point sam.le P3, and the sm.llest concentration was 26 ± 5 Bq/m. for surface 0 cm.depth at el-Bakria, point sam.le P5. The results obtained from.this study indicate that the region has background radioactivity levels within the natural lim.ts.

People born with low birth weight are at a greater risk of developing later life diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cancer. Recent studies have pinpointed the placenta as a critical factor involved in developm.ntal program.ing. Changes in m.ternal lifestyle or dietary habits can alter placental developm.nt and increase the risk of developm.ntal program.ing of adult diseases. Saudi people, including pregnant wom.n, change their lifestyle and eating habits during the holy m.nth of Ram.dan. Previous studies found that the exposure to Ram.dan lifestyle reduces placental weight;however, effects on other placental aspects rem.ined unknown. We aim.d to further exam.ne the effects of exposure to Ram.dan lifestyle on full-term.placental m.rphom.trics, histology and gene expression of key glucose transporters. To exam.ne this, fresh placentas were collected from.60 healthy Saudi wom.n. Sam.les were equally classified into two groups;not exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle (control) or exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle in the first. Placental weight, length and breadth were recorded and placental surface area was calculated. Placental tissue was processed and stained with eosin and hem.toxylin for histological exam.nation. Apoptosis was assessed using TUNel assay. The gene expression of the glucose transporters GLUT1 and GLUT3 was evaluated. The results show that wom.n exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle have m.re elongated placentas with less central cord insertion. Placental weight and surface area were significantly lowered in wom.n exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle. Placental length was not affected but the breadth was significantly sm.ller in than control. Placentas exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle had fewer and less-developed syncytial knots and thicker syncytiotrophoblast cells. Apoptosis was detected in placentas exposed to Ram.dan lifestyle.
