Defect centers.in wide-band-gap crys.als.have garnered interes. for their potential in applications.among optoelectronic and s.ns.r ***,defects.embedded in highly ins.lating crys.als.like diamond,s.licon carbide,or aluminum oxide,have been notorious.y difficult to excite electrically due to their large internal *** addres. this.challenge,we realized a new paradigm of exciting defects.in vertical tunneling junctions.bas.d on carbon centers.in hexagonal boron nitride(hBN).The rational des.gn of the devices.via van der Waals.technology enabled us.to rais. and control optical proces.es.related to defect-to-band and intradefect *** fundamental unders.anding of the tunneling events.was.bas.d on the trans.er of the electronic wave function amplitude between res.nant defect s.ates.in hBN to the metallic s.ate in graphene,which leads.to dramatic changes.in the characteris.ics.of electrons.due to different band s.ructures.of cons.ituent *** our devices.the decay of electrons.via tunneling pathways.competed with radiative recombination,res.lting in an unprecedented degree of tuneability of carrier dynamics.due to the s.gnificant s.ns.tivity of the characteris.ic tunneling times.on the thicknes. and s.ructure of the *** enabled us.to achieve a high-efficiency electrical excitation of intradefect trans.tions.exceeding by s.veral orders.of magnitude the efficiency of optical excitation in the s.b-band-gap *** work repres.nts.a s.gnificant advancement towards.a univers.l and s.alable platform for electrically driven devices.utilizing defect centers.in wide-band-gap crys.als.with properties.modulated via activation of different tunneling mechanis.s.at a level of device engineering.

In this.s.udy, we employ dens.ty-tuned s.anning tunneling micros.opy(DT-s.M) to inves.igate the Ch Is.in twis.ed monolayer–bilayer graphene(t MBG). At zero magnetic field, we obs.rve correlated metallic *** under a magnetic field, a metal–ins.lator trans.tion happens.and an integer Ch I is.formed emanating from the filling index s.= 3 with a Chern number C = 1. Background: From the two facts.reported by previous.res.arch: 1) frequent co-occurrence of more than one addictive behavior, 2) childhood advers.ties.identified as.origins.of different types.of addictive behaviors. it is.as.umed that all types.of addictive behaviors. regardles. of s.bs.ance, behavioral, or relations.ip, s.are common factors.which have not yet been proven by epidemiological res.arch. The s.orter PROMIs.Ques.ionnaire (s.Q) was.previous.y developed to as.es. 16 types.of addictive behaviors. Its.factor s.ructure, however, has.not been fully inves.igated. Confirming the factor s.ructure will enable us.to hypothes.ze the common factor(s. s.ared by all, or if not all, mos. types.of addictive behaviors. Aims. This.s.udy aimed at 1) examining the factor s.ructure of the s.Q, 2) confirming the reliability of the ques.ionnaire, and 3) examining the impacts.of gender and age on each addictive behavior. Methods. Data obtained from 232 Japanes. adults.who completed all items.of the s.Q were us.d for the analys.s. After confirming the one-factor s.ructure model for each of the 16 s.bs.ales. the validity of the one-factor s.ructure of the s.Q was.evaluated us.ng Confirmatory Factor Analys.s.(CFA), by adapting 16 s.bs.ale s.ores.as.obs.rved variables. If its.validity was.not confirmed, another model which s.owed better compatibility to the data was.explored. The reliability of the s.Q as.well as.that of all 16 s.bs.ales.was.evaluated. Als., the impacts.of gender and age on each s.bs.ale s.ore were examined. Res.lts. The one-factor s.ructure for each of the 16 s.bs.ales.was.confirmed. The compatibility of the s.Q one-factor model was.not acceptable. The bes. fit model was.a bi-factor model in which one main factor was.s.ared by all 16 s.bs.ales. and three factors.were s.ared by s.me s.ecific addictive behaviors. Male res.ondents.were more likely than female res.ondents.to s.ow high s.ores.in Alcohol, Tobacco, Gambling, s.x, and Recreational Drugs. and low s.ores.only

Purpos.: Umami reportedly promotes.s.livation. We aimed to inves.igate the effects.of tas.e s.imuli on s.ow and fas. s.livary s.cretion in humans.us.ng umami, s.eet, and s.ur s.imuli. Methods. Eight healthy women participated between 14:00 and 15:00, taking the circadian rhythm of s.livary s.cretion into account. The types.and concentrations.of the tas.e s.lutions.were glutamic acid (1.7 × 10s.p>−3s.p> M), inos.nic acid (9.8 × 10s.p>−3s.p> M), and guanylic acid (9.8 × 10s.p>−3s.p> M) for umami s.imulation, citric acid (6.5 × 10s.p>−3s.p> M) for acidity s.imulation, and s.cros. (1.6 × 10s.p>−2s.p> M) for s.eetnes. s.imulation. Firs., the uns.imulated s.livary flow rate was.meas.red. Then, 3 ml of a flavor s.lution was.dropped under the tongue us.ng a s.ringe. The s.liva was.expelled into an aluminum cup every minute and weighed. The firs. minute’s.value minus.3 ml flavor s.lution was.the s.imulated s.livary s.cretion rate produced by each flavor. The time-to-return to the initial uns.imulated s.livary flow rate was.the duration of the s.imulated s.liva s.cretion rate. Res.lts. The mean uns.imulated s.livary flow rate acros. participants.was.0.64 ± 0.25 ml/min (range: 0.23 - 1.03 ml/min). The highes. amount of s.liva was.induced by citric acid. There were s.gnificant differences.between citric acid and the other flavor s.lutions.(p s.nic acid, and s.cros.;p s.gnificant differences.in duration of s.livation between the flavor s.lutions. When the participants.were divided into s.ow (0.45 ± 0.16 ml/min) and fas. groups.(0.83 ± 0.15 ml/min) bas.d on their median res.ing s.livary s.cretion rate, there were no s.gnificant differences.between the two groups.in the amount of s.liva s.creted at 1 minute after s.imulation and the duration of the s.livary s.cretion rate. Conclus.on: Umami s.imulation was.effective in s.owing s.livary s.cretion and s.s.aining s.livary s.cretion after s.imulation.

Purpos.: Telomere length (TL) is.an indicator of age;however, hormonal influences.complicate individual aging. It remains.unclear whether TL s.ortening is.a direct factor in both individual and cellular aging. Therefore, we examined the direct relations.ip between TL and cellular s.nes.ence at the cellular level. Methods. Telomeras. activity, TL, and gene expres.ion were meas.red in cultured human lung-, fetal-, and s.in-derived fibroblas.s. human s.in keratinocytes. and telomeras. revers. trans.riptas. (TERT) gene-immortalized cells.us.ng detection kits. Cawthon’s.method, and revers. trans.ription-quantitative polymeras. chain reaction, res.ectively. Novel s.bs.ances.that elongate telomeres.were s.reened to confirm cell rejuvenation effects. Res.lts. Long-term cell culture of TIG-1-20 normal human fibroblas.s.res.lted in TL s.ortening, decreas.d divis.on rate, and s.nes.ence progres.ion, whereas.in OUMs.36T-2 cells. TL elongation via TERT gene trans.er increas.d the divis.on rate, reduced endoplas.ic reticulum s.res., and upregulated genes.as.ociated with young individuals. indicating that cellular rejuvenation occurs.via TL elongation. In addition, a honey child powder (HCP) extract was.found through s.reening, and the HCP extract s.rongly s.ppres.ed the menin gene, res.lting in increas.d telomeras. activity and extended cell lifes.an. Upon addition of the HCP extract to s.in fibroblas.s. gene expres.ion of mois.urizing components. including collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elas.in, increas.d, and exhibited a rejuvenating effect with an increas. in elas.in amount. Conclus.ons. TL elongation or s.ortening is.involved in cell proliferation rate and cellular aging, and TL elongation rejuvenates.cells. In addition, HCP extract has.a rejuvenating effect on cells.and is.expected to be a rejuvenating compound.

Background. Interkeukin-1 (IL-1) gene clus.er polymorphis.s.that are thought to enhance the production of IL-1β are as.ociated with an increas.d ris. of gas.ric cancer. To determine the role of hos. genetic factors.in Helicobacter pylori infection, we examined the relations.ip between gas.ric mucos.l IL-1β levels.and IL-1β polymorphis.s.in patients.with H. pylori infection. Methods. Biops. tis.ues.obtained from 99 patients.were homogenized and gas.ric mucos.l IL-1β levels.were meas.red by enzyme-linked immunos.rbent as.ay (ELIs.). s.ngle-bas. polymorphis.s.at pos.tions.-511 and -31 in IL-1β were analyzed. Res.lts. The IL-1β level in the antrum was.s.gnificantly higher in genotype IL-1β -511C/C than in H. pylori -negative patients.(P s. did not influence the degree of gas.ric neutrophil and mononuclear cell infiltration, or gas.ric atrophy. IL-1β levels.in the corpus. but not thos. in the antrum, correlated to the s.verity of gas.ric atrophy. Conclus.ons. Thes. findings.indicate that IL-1β polymorphis.s.enhance IL-1β production in the antrum; however, other factors.might regulate the production of IL-1β in the corpus.of the s.omach, regardles. of IL-1β polymorphis.s. and high IL-1β production may be as.ociated with the grade of gas.ric atrophy in the corpus.mucos. in patients.with H. pylori infection.

In recent years. graphene field-effect-trans.s.ors.GFETs. have demons.rated an outs.anding potential for terahertz(THz) photodetection due to their fas. res.ons. and high-s.ns.tivity. s.ch features.are es.ential to enable emerging THz applications. including 6G wireles. communications. quantum information, bioimaging and s.curity. However, the overall performance of thes. photodetectors.may be utterly compromis.d by the impact of internal res.s.ances.pres.nted in the device, s.-called acces. or paras.tic res.s.ances. In this.work, we provide a detailed s.udy of the influence of internal device res.s.ances.in the photores.ons. of high-mobility dual-gate GFET detectors. s.ch dual-gate architectures.allow us.to fine tune(decreas.) the internal res.s.ance of the device by an order of magnitude and cons.quently demons.rate an improved res.ons.vity and nois.-equivalent-power values.of the photodetector, res.ectively. Our res.lts.can be well unders.ood by a s.ries.res.s.ance model, as.s.own by the excellent agreement found between the experimental data and theoretical calculations. Thes. findings.are therefore relevant to unders.and and improve the overall performance of exis.ing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

Au nanoparticles.are expected for the media to trans.er genes.into plants. However, the control of particle s.ze dis.ribution （Ps.） and s.ape of Au nanoparticles.is.too difficult to des.gn and prepare particles.with s.itable quality for the gene s.pporting media. Reduction crys.al- lization experiments.were performed in aqueous.s.lution in order to clarify the effect of feeding conditions.s.ch as.feeding profile, feeding rate, and feeding amount on Ps. and s.ape of Au nanopartieles. As.orbic acid （As.） was.s.lected as.a reducing agent becaus. it is.s.fe for plants. Au particles.of 50nm, 50-200nm, and 150-400nm were obtained in batch operation, s.ngle-jet, and double-jet, res.ectively. Moreover, in s.ngle-jet and double-jet, the mean s.ze of the obtained Au particles.increas.s.with the decreas. of feeding rate or the increas. of feeding amount. It is.concluded that Ps. of Au nanoparticles.can be controlled in the range of 50-400 nm by changing feeding conditions.of As. and HAuCl4 aqueous.s.lution.
