Magnesium-based biomaterials have been in extensive research for orthopedic applications for decades due to their optimal mechanical features and osteopromotive nature;nevertheless,rapid degradation restricts their clinical *** this study,pristine magnesium was purified(P-Mg)using a melt self-purification approach and reinforced using indigenously synthesized nanohydroxyapatite(HAP,0.6 wt.%)and strontium substituted nanohydroxyapatite(SrHAP,0.6 wt.%)using a low-cost stir assisted squeeze casting method to control their degradation *** electron back-scattered diffraction(EBSD)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)examinations,all casted materials were carefully evaluated for microstructure and phase *** characteristics,in vitro degradation,and in vitro biocompatibility with murine pre-osteoblasts were also tested on the fabricated *** in vivo examination of bone formation,osteointegration,and degradation rate,the magnesium-based alloys were fabricated as small cylindrical pins with a diameter of 2.7 mm and a height of 2 *** pins were implanted in a critical-sized defect in a rat femur shaft(2.7 mm diameter and 2 mm depth)for 8 weeks and evaluated by microCT and histological evaluation for bone growth and *** compared to P-Mg and P-MgHAP,micro-CT and histological analyses revealed that the P-MgSrHAP group had the highest bone formation towards the periphery of the implant and hence maximum *** the removed pins from the bone defect were analyzed using GIXRD,they displayed hydroxyapatite peaks that were consistent with *** P-Mg,P-MgHAP,and P-MgSrHAP 8 weeks after implantation,in vivo degradation rates derived from micro-CT were around 0.6 mm/year,0.5 mm/year,and 0.1 mm/year,***,P-MgSrHAP possesses the requisite degradation rate as well as sufficient mechanical and biological properties,indicating that it has the potential to be used in the development/fabrication of bi

Fine Sand and Clay Sediment Acoustic Properties of the Novel Sediment Sample from the Arabian Sea:Experimental Investigations and Biot−Stoll Model Validation

The present study explores the physical and acoustic characteristics of fine sand and clay in novel seabed marine sediments from of Pakistan coastline of the Arabian *** measured physical parameters included mean grain size,mass density,bulk density,salinity,porosity,permeability,pore size and mineralogical *** properties,including sound speed and attenuation,in the high frequency range of 90-170 kHz were analyzed.A controlled laboratory setup with the acoustic transmission method and Fourier transform techniques was utilized to examine the sound propagation and absorption of novel seabed *** standard deviation of mean sound speed in fresh water was 0.75 m/s,and attenuation was observed in the range of 0.43 to 0.61 dB/*** mean sound velocity in sand and clay varied from 1706 to 1709 m/s and 1602 to 1608 m/s,*** average attenuation was observed at 80 to 93 dB/m in sandy sediments and from 31.8 to 38.6 dB/m in clayey *** velocity variation within sandy sediment is low,consistent with expected results,and smaller than the predicted ***,clay sediment exhibited a positive linear correlation and low sound speed *** increased linearly with frequency for both ***,the laboratory results were validated by using the Biot−Stoll *** dispersion of sound speed in sandy and clayey sediments was consistent with the predictions of the Biot−Stoll *** attenuation aligned more with Biot−Stoll model predictions due to improved permeability,tortuosity and pore size parameter fitting.

Active tectonics in an area includes ongoing or recent geologic *** paper investigates the tectonic influence on the subsidence,uplift and tilt of western Saurashtra through morphotectonic analysis of ten watersheds along with characteristics of relief and drainage *** 7-9 to the north(N)are tectonically active,which can be linked with the North Kathiawar Fault System(NKFS)and followed by watersheds 6,10,1,4 and ***-length gradient index and sinuosity index indicate the effect of tectonic events along the master streams in watersheds *** R^(2)values of the linear curve fit for watershed 7 indicate its master stream is much more tectonically active than the *** R^(2)curve fitting model and earthquake magnitude/depth analysis confirm the region to be *** reactivation of the NKFS most likely led to the vertical movement of western Saurashtra.

A Highly Accurate Dysphonia Detection System Using Linear Discriminant Analysis

The recognition of pathological voice is considered a difficult task for speech ***,otolaryngologists needed to rely on oral communication with patients to discover traces of voice pathologies like dysphonia that are caused by voice alteration of vocal folds and their accuracy is between 60%–70%.To enhance detection accuracy and reduce processing speed of dysphonia detection,a novel approach is proposed in this *** have leveraged Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA)to train multiple Machine Learning(ML)models for dysphonia *** ML models are utilized like Support Vector Machine(SVM),Logistic Regression,and K-nearest neighbor(K-NN)to predict the voice pathologies based on features like Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCC),Fundamental Frequency(F0),Shimmer(%),Jitter(%),and Harmonic to Noise Ratio(HNR).The experiments were performed using Saarbrucken Voice Data-base(SVD)and a privately collected *** K-fold cross-validation approach was incorporated to increase the robustness and stability of the ML *** to the experimental results,our proposed approach has a 70%increase in processing speed over Principal Component Analysis(PCA)and performs remarkably well with a recognition accuracy of 95.24%on the SVD dataset surpassing the previous best accuracy of 82.37%.In the case of the private dataset,our proposed method achieved an accuracy rate of 93.37%.It can be an effective non-invasive method to detect dysphonia.

Deep Learning Framework for Precipitation Prediction Using Cloud Images

Precipitation prediction(PP)have become one of the significant research areas of deep learning(DL)and machine vision(MV)techniques are frequently used to predict the weather variables(WV).Since the climate change has left significant impact upon weather variables(WV)and continuously changes are observed in temperature,humidity,cloud patterns and other *** cloud images contain sufficient information to predict the precipitation pattern but due to changes in climate,the complex cloud patterns and rapid shape changing behavior of clouds are difficult to consider for rainfall *** of rainfall would provide more meticulous assistance to the farmers to know about the weather conditions and to care their cash *** research proposes a framework to classify the dark cloud patterns(DCP)for prediction of *** framework consists upon three steps to classify the cloud images,first step tackles noise reduction operations,feature selection and preparation of *** step construct the decision model by using convolutional neural network(CNN)and third step presents the performance visualization by using confusion matrix,precision,recall and accuracy *** research contributes(1)real-world clouds datasets(2)method to prepare datasets(3)highest classification accuracy to predict estimated as 96.90%.

The selective aqueous-phase glycerol hydrogenolysis is a promising reaction to produce commercially useful 1,3-propanediol(1,3-PDO).The Pt-WOx bifunctional catalyst can catalyse the glycerol hydrogenol-ysis but the catalyst deactivation via sintering,metal leaching,and coking can predominantly occur in the aqueous phase *** this work,the effect of reaction temperature,pressure and second promoter(Cu,Fe,Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,Sn,B,and P)on catalytic performance and deactivation behaviour of Pt/WOx/-Al2O3 was *** doped with Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,B,and P,the second promoter boosts catalytic activity by promoting great dispersion of Pt on support and increasing Pt surface *** increased Bronsted acid sites lead to selective synthesis of 1,3-PDO than 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO).The characterization studies of fresh and spent catalysts reveal that the main cause of catalyst deactivation is the Pt sintering,as interpreted based on XRD,CO chemisorption,and TEM *** Pt sintering is affected depending on the second promoter that can either or reduce the interaction between Pt,WO_(χ)/γ and Al_(2)O_(3).As an electron acceptor of Pt in Pt/WO_(χ)/γ-Al_(2)O_(3),Re and Mn as second promoters resulted in increased Pt^(2+) on the catalytic surface,which strengthens the contact between Pt andγ-Al_(2)O_(3) and WO_(χ),resulting in a decrease in Pt *** metal leaching and coking are not affected by the presence of second *** catalyst modified with a second promoter possesses improved catalytic activity and 1,3-PDO production,however the stability continues to remain a *** present work unrav-elled the determining parameters of catalytic activity and deactivation,thus providing a promising pro-tocol toward effective catalysts for glycerol hydrogenolysis.

Mechanical properties of cotton fabric reinforced geopolymer composites at 200-1000℃

Geopolymer composites containing woven cotton fabric(0-8.3 wt%)were fabricated using the hand lay-up technique,and were exposed to elevated temperatures of 200℃,400℃,600℃,800℃and 1000℃.With an increase in temperature,the geopolymer composites exhibited a reduction in compressive strength,flexural strength and fracture *** heated above 600℃,the composites exhibited a significant reduction in mechanical *** also exhibited brittle behavior due to severe degradation of cotton fibres and the creation of additional porosity in the *** images verified the existence of voids and small channels in the composites due to fibre degradation.
