Diketopyrrolopyrrole(DPP)is one of the most promising building blocks for constructing polymer semiconductors with high charge-carrier mobilities in organic field-effect transistors(OFETs).In this study,a novel DPP-based conjugated polymer,PDPPy-BDD,was designed and *** ambipolar field-effect transistor characteristics were realized with the average hole and electron mobilities of 3.5×10^(-3)and 3.07×10^(-2)cm^(2)V^(-1)s^(-1),*** the hole and electron mobilities could be successfully en-hanced by using a tetramethylammonium iodide(NMe4l)*** an enhancement was attributed to the formation of stronger interchainπ-πstackings,the weakening of the face-on packing orientation in the thin film state,and the higher channel conductivi-ties in the OFETs.

Tribological properties of hierarchical micro-dimples produced on a cylindrical surface by dual-frequency texturing

An experimental investigation was performed for investigating the tribological performance of micro-dimple surface texture patterns on a cylindrical surface in a realistic operating environment of starved lubrication. Micro-dimples were generated by a dual-frequency surface texturing method, in which a high-frequency (16.3 kHz) three-dimensional (3D) vibration and a low-frequency (230 Hz) one-dimensional (1D) vibration were applied at the tool tip simultaneously, resulting in the generation of the hierarchical micro-dimples in a single step. Rotating cylinder-on-pin tribological tests were conducted to compare the tribological performance of the non-textured reference specimen and micro-dimple samples. The effect of surface textures generated with various shape parameters (long drop and short drop), dimension parameters (length and surface texture density), and operation parameters (load and sliding velocity) on the tribological performance was evaluated. Stribeck curves indicate that the hierarchical micro-dimples exhibit a lower coefficient of friction than the reference specimen in the high contact-pressure regions. It is also observed that variation in the length of a micro-dimple, the shape effect, is the major factor affecting the friction response of the textured surfaces. The generation of additional hydrodynamic pressure and lift effect by hierarchical structures is the main reason for the improved performance of hierarchical micro-dimple surfaces.

Hyperbranched polymer structures represent a class of high-functionality building blocks with excellent three-dimensional topology for the construction of highly substituted conjugated *** this contribution,an efficient microwave synthesis protocol toward the synthesis of conjugated hyperbranched polymers is presented.A novel series of soluble hyperbranched polyfluorenes (PTF1-PTF3) incorporating triazatruxene moiety as the branch units with various branching degrees have thus been successfully constructed with good yields and high molecular weight via a facile "A2+B2+C3" *** structures of the hyperbranched polymers were confirmed by NMR and *** thermal,optical,and electrochemical properties of the hyperbranched polymers were also *** results showed that introduction of triazatruxene units into the hyperbranched structure endowed the polymer with good thermal stability and highly amorphous *** investigation of PTFx revealed strong blue emission in both solution and solid *** polymers with higher degree of branching and proper content of linear fluorene units exhibited better photophysical properties in terms of narrow emission spectra and relatively high quantum efficiency as well as improved thermal spectral *** triazatruxene branching unit also played a role in raising the HOMO energy levels relative to those of polyfluorenes that would help to improve the charge injection and transport *** incorporation of triazatruxene unit into hyperbranched polymers has thus explored an effective avenue for constructing optoelectronic polymers with improved functional characteristics.

In this paper, a finite element method is developed to numericallyevaluate the shear coefficient of Timoshenko's beam with multiplyconnected cross section. With focus on analyzing shear stressesdistributed at the neutral axis of the beam, an improved definitionof the shear coeffi- cient is presented. Based on this definition, aGalerkin-type finite element formulation is proposed to analyze theshear stresses and shear deflections. Numerical solutions of theexamples for some typical cross-sections are compared with thetheoretical results. The shear coefficient of tower sections of theTsing Ma Bridge is calculated by use of the proposed approach, sothat the finite element modeling of The bridge can be developed withthe accurate values of the sectional properties.

Despite recent improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer(PC),clinical outcomes remain ***,there are no effective prognostic or predictive biomarkers or options beyond carbohydrate antigen 19-9 for personalized and precise *** tumor cells(CTCs),as a member of the liquid biopsy family,could be a promising biomarker;however,the rarity of CTCs in peripheral venous blood limits their clinical *** the first venous drainage of PC is portal circulation,the portal vein can be a more suitable location for the detection of *** ultrasound-guided portal venous sampling of CTCs is both feasible and *** studies have suggested that the detection rate and number of CTCs may be higher in the portal blood than in the peripheral *** counts in the portal blood are highly associated with hepatic metastasis,recurrence after surgery,and *** phenotypic and genotypic properties measured in the captured portal CTCs can help us to understand tumor heterogeneity and predict the prognosis of *** sample sizes and heterogeneous CTC detection methods limit the studies to ***,a large number of prospective studies are needed to corroborate portal CTCs as a valid biomarker in PC.

While an increasing number of therapeutic options are now available for the first-line treatment of locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer,the optimal choice for treatment in the second-line setting and beyond is less well defined.A variety of cytotoxic agents,either alone or in combination,have been evaluated,although primarily in the context of small single-arm or retrospective *** regimens have been associated with median progression-free survival rates in the range of 2-4 mo and overall survival rates between 4-8mo,highlighting the very poor prognosis of patients who are candidates for such *** therapies studied in this chemotherapy-refractory setting,meanwhile,have produced even worse efficacy *** the current article,we review the clinical evidence for treatment of refractory disease,primarily in patients who have progressed on front-line gemcitabine-based *** the process,we highlight the limitations of the available data to date as well as some of the challenges in designing appropriate clinical trials in this salvage setting,including how to select an appropriate control arm given the absence of a wellestablished reference standard,and the importance of incorporating predictive biomarkers and quality of life measures whenever possible into study design.
