Hospital wastewater represents an infectious and toxic risk to human health and the environment due to its contents. Most hospitals in developing countries, including Benin, do not have a wastewater treatment plant. In this study, the wastewater from two hospitals in northern Benin was characterized and then treated with Azadirachta indica leaves, Moringa oleifera and Luffa cylindrica seeds by coagulation/flocculation process. The wastewater characteristics showed that the collected samples are greatly polluted by organic matter and fecal bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Enterococcus fecal and Total coliforms. Jar-test results revealed that 95.74%, 78%, 49.19% of turbidity, 51.35%, 38.32%, 22.19% of COD, 93.16%, 85.26%, 83.30% against Escherichia coli, 92.11%, 90.93%, 94.60% against total Coliforms and 99.37%, 91%, 99%, 55.07% against Enterococcus were removed from hospital wastewater using Moringa oleifera, Luffa cylindrica seed and Azadirachta indica leaves respectively at dose of 100 mg/L. The results highlighted that the natural coagulants could be successfully used for the removal of turbidity and fecal bacteria from hospital wastewater.

The objective of this study is to reveal the negative impacts of the practices of acadjas on the Aheme lake in Benin. Various material and methods were used for the measures of the physicochemical parameters such as: colorimetric HACH DR/890, the multiparameter WTW 340i and specific kits for the dosage of minerals. Also, the investigations were made with the resources by persons. It emerges from this study that the practices of acadjas asphyxiate and disturb the lake species. In fact, the concentrations in dissolved oxygen became very weak (1595 mg/L to 3740 mg/L), and the contents of nitrites (2, 25 mg/L to 14, 5 mg/L), suspension materials and turbidity are raised. The consequences both on the aquatic fauna and on the vegetation of the bank are worrying. The waterside populations are also threatened. Some actions in an attempt to regulate the practice of acadjas and promote reforestation of the lagoon bank need to be put in place.

Pyridine-Thiourea Based High Performance Polymers: Synthesis and Characterization

A novel diamine monomer, pyridine-2, 6-bis（（4-aminophenyl）thioureido）carbonyl（PATC） was synthesized efficiently and polymerized with various aromatic dianhydrides. Consequently, poly（pyridine thiourea-imide）s（PPTIs） with good thermal properties and flame retardancy were fabricated. The structures of PATC and PPTIs were characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectroscopy along with elemental analysis, crystallinity, organosolubility, inherent viscosity and gel permeation chromatographic measurements. PPTIs containing C=S, CONH and meta substituted pyridine moieties in the polymer backbone showed amorphous nature and were readily soluble in highly polar organic solvents and even in less polar solvents such as tetrahydrofuran（THF）. Polymers had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.91-1.16 d L/g and molecular weight was found between 68000-77000 g/mol. The electrical properties of the PPTIs were estimated in terms of dielectric constant over a range of frequencies. Their thermal stability was determined by 10% weight loss temperature found in the range of 519-563 °C under inert atmosphere. The glass transition temperature of the polyimides varied between 247 °C and 267 °C. The flame retardant properties of PPTIs were investigated in terms of limiting oxygen index（LOI） which was found in the range of 38.26-39.95. Introduction of thiourea in the polymer backbone is an effective way to improve the thermal stability and flame retardancy. Thus PATC can be considered as an excellent candidate for the synthesis of high performance polymers.

This study evaluated the nuclear data libraries for a small 100 Mega Watt electric(MWe)Molten Salt Reactor with plutonium *** reactor has a power output of 100 MWe,which meets the demand for electricity generation in several regions or provinces outside Java *** nuclear data libraries,such as JEFF 3.1,ENDF/B-VII.0,JENDL 3.3,and JENDL 4.0,were used for a more comprehensive ***–BeF_(2)–ThF_(4)–PuF_(4) was used as the initial fuel *** thorium and plutonium concentrations in the fuel salt were varied to obtain the optimum fuel composition,leading to critical *** results showed some neutronic parameters,such as the conversion ratio,neutron spectra,and effective multiplication factors,from three different nuclear data *** changing the plutonium concentration in the initial fuel salt composition,the minimum plutonium loaded for the reactor criticality during 2000 days of operation time was determined to be 0.995,0.91,0.87,and 0.90 mol%for JEFF 3.1,ENDF/B-VII.0,JENDL 3.3,and JENDL 4.0,*** differences in the values of each parameter were due to several factors,such as the cross-section values and number of nuclides in the nuclear data *** safety parameters were also investigated to ensure the possibility of utilizing PuF_(4) in the reactor.

Physico-Chemical Characterization of Waters and Sediments of Basins in the Cotton Area in Benin: Case of the Alibori Basin in the Commune of Banikoara North of Benin

The Alibori Basin, with an area of 13,400 km2, is a tributary of the Niger River in Benin. It is a river that passes through the potentially agricultural area of Benin. The waters of the river are useful for wildlife and are used for various purposes (drinking water, laundry, domestic activities). They regularly receive the discharges and drainage of the residues of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides not used by crops during the cultivation of the river and watershed bank. This study aims to assess the impact of the agricultural inputs on the quality of the waters from Alibori river on the basis of its physico-chemical characteristics and concentrations in Trace Metal Elements such as Zn, Pb, Cd and Cu. Seven (7) sites were selected along the river. Concentrations of , , , ?, Cu2+ and Zn2+ were measured using a spectrophotometer DR 1800 and that of Pb and Cd by Metalyse. The Metal Trace Elements were measured in the Alibori river sediments after being treated and mineralized using aqua regia. The results revealed that Alibori river characteristics varied with seasons and its waters and sediments were polluted by metals, phosphates and nitrites. The pollution of waters of the Alibori River was due to the intensive use of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides for agricultural purposes.

The objective of this research is to determine the physicochemical elements contained in the groundwater and in the deposits originating from these waters of the Arrondissement of Dêkin, Commune of Dangbo in the South of Benin. Physical parameters were measured from the multi-parameter and the chemical parameters by reagent assays. The precipitate from the groundwater was studied by speciation. The different assays were carried out using the Hach Lange DR2800 Spectrophotometer. The data processing was done with different software including ArcGis 10.1, *** of Roland SIMLER and PHREEQC 2.17.4137. Strong mineralization of the deposit from the drilling water was indicated in these three elements: Copper (220.1 mg/kg), iron (2528 mg/kg) and zinc (239.5 mg/kg) whose contents are higher than the French guideline values for heavy metal content in sediments in mg/kg. The calculation of the Saturation Indices of the drilling water shows saturation with respect to Goethite and Hematite. All these results have led us to conclude that the high content of Metallic Trace Element (MTE) in the deposit and especially of the iron in the drilling water originates from the dissolution-precipitation of the aquifer rock.

Image fusion has number of applications such as images taken for medical-checkup,robotics,computer vision,military and law enforcement *** purpose of image fusion is to extract all useful information from input images and provide one output mage of high *** spite of its multiple applications,existing image fusion techniques have some significant limitations i.e.,spatial domain techniques have low frequency information where as spectral domain have low time resolution which degrades the quality of output *** existing techniques like stationary wavelet transform（SWT）provide adequate frequency resolution but has poor time information while in discrete wavelet transform（DWT）image is transformed from spatial domain to frequency *** case of principal component analysis（PCA）,it provides good time information but has poor frequency *** in mind the existing complications,there is a dire need to develop an efficient algorithm which can provide both frequency resolution as well as time resolution *** compare the results of two proposed methods,PCA+DWT and PCA+DSWT;a variety of image fusion quality parameters such as peak signal to noise ratio,mean squared error and normalized cross correlation are employed for the qualitative *** of comparison results demonstrates that the proposed methods PCA+DWT and PCA+DSWT exhibit better outcomes than many other fusion methods,qualitatively as well as *** hybrid techniques are proposed to obtain a better efficient and better quality fused image which will preserve edges,its spatial resolution and improve shift *** tool is also used for all simulations and were carried out through whole research work.

In the case of a severe accident involving nuclear reactors,an important aspect that should be considered is the leakage of molten material from the inside of the reactor into the *** molten materials damage other reactor components,such as electrical tubes,grid plates and core *** this study,the moving particle semi-implicit(MPS)method is adopted and improved to analyze the twodimensional downward relocation process of molten Wood’s metal as a representation of molten material in a nuclear *** molten material impinges the Wood’s metal plate(WMP),which is mounted on a rigid dummy stainless steel in a cylindrical test *** breaching process occurs because of heat transfer between the molten material and *** formed breach areas were in good agreement with the experimental results,and they showed that the molten Wood’s metal spread above the *** solid WMP fraction decreased with time until it reached the termination time of the *** present results show that the MPS method can be applied to simulate and analyze the downward relocation process of molten material in the grid plate of a nuclear reactor.

The aim of this research is the improvement towards the consumption of energy in the field of engineering and industry. The efforts have been paid to the enhancement of heat transmission and cooling process through a nanofluid coating of a nonlinear stretching disc. The combination of Water(H2 O) and multiple walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNT)/single walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNT) have been used as a nanofluid. The spreading of a thin nano-layer with variable thickness over a nonlinear and radially stretching surface has been considered. The estimated results of the problem have been accomplished using the Optimal Homotopy Analysis Method(OHAM). The residual errors of the OHAM method have been shown physically and numerically. The important physical parameters of skin friction and Nusselt number have been calculated and discussed. The other embedding parameters like generalized magnetic parameter, Prantl number, nanofluid volume fraction and Eckert number have been intended and discussed. The obtained results have been compared with the Numerical(ND-Solve) method for both sorts of CNTs. The closed agreement of both methods has been achieved.
