Paralysis following spinal cord injury （SCI） is due.to failure.of axonal re.e.e.ation. It is be.ie.e. that the.capacitie. of ne.rons to re.row the.r axons are.due.partly to the.r intrinsic characte.istics, which in turn are.gre.tly influe.ce. by se.e.al type. of inhibitory mole.ule. that are.pre.e.t, or e.e. incre.se. in the.e.trace.lular e.vironme.t of the.injure. spinal cord. Many of the.e.inhibitory mole.ule. have.be.n studie. e.te.sive.y in re.e.t ye.rs. It has be.n sugge.te. that the.small GTPase.RhoA is an intrace.lular conve.ge.ce.point for signaling by the.e.e.trace.lular inhibitory mole.ule., but due.to the.comple.ity of the.ce.tral ne.vous syste. （CNS） in mammals, and the.limitation of pharmacological tools, the.spe.ific role. of RhoA are.uncle.r. By e.ploiting the.anatomical and te.hnical advantage. of the.lampre. CNS, we.re.e.tly de.onstrate. that RhoA knockdown promote. true.axon re.e.e.ation through the.le.ion site.afte. SCI. In addition, we.found that RhoA knockdown prote.ts the.large. ide.tifie. re.iculospinal ne.rons from apoptosis afte. the.r axons we.e.axotomize. in spinal cord. The.e.ore. manipulation of the.RhoA signaling pathway may be.an important approach in the.de.e.opme.t of tre.tme.ts that are.both ne.roprote.tive.and axon re.e.e.ation-promoting, to e.hance.functional re.ove.y afte. Proce.ure.. 267 HIV positive.and 273 HIV ne.ative.patie.ts we.e.e.amine. for pre.e.ce.or abse.ce.of me.anonychia and le.e. of skin pigme.tation using the.Fitzge.ald scale. Pharmacy re.ords we.e.e.amine. for de.e.mining e.posure.to zidovudine.or stavudine. Chi square. odds ratios and logistic re.re.sion we.e.use. to e.amine.the.study que.tions Main Findings. Me.anonychia appe.re. in 49.1% of 267 HIV positive.and 21.8% of 273 HIV ne.ative.subje.ts. Adjusting for skin pigme.tation, HIV positive. we.e.4.1 time. more.like.y to have.me.anonychia than HIV ne.ative.. Me.anonychia was pre.e.t in 54% of those.re.e.ving zidovudine.and in 42% of those.re.e.ving stavudine.(OR = 2.73, p = 0.05). In a multivariate.mode. in HIV positive. which include. skin type. pre.cription of zidovudine.and/or Stavudine. only dark skin (OR = 14.62, p e.(OR = 2.65, p e.e.significant. Principal Conclusions. HIV infe.te. pe.sons are.prone.to me.anonychia. This is more.fre.ue.t in darke. skinne. pe.sons and is e.hance. in those.e.pose. to zidovudine.
