The title compound has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and FT-Raman spectra, and thermal analysis. The crystal and molecular structures of bis（N＇-ethyl-N-piperazinly-carbodithioato-S,S＇） nickel（Ⅱ） complex （Ni（S2CNC4H8NC2H5）2） were determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group PI^- with a = 0.66770（15）, b = 0.85066（12）, c = 0.8973（2） nm,α= 84.97（2）, β =78.71（2）,γ= 80.12（2）°, Mr = 437.34, V= 0.49160（17） nm^3, Z = 1, Dc = 1.477 g/cm^3, F（000） = 230, R = 0.0422 and wR = 0.1290. In the structure, the central Ni atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted square plane by four S atoms from two bidentate S2CNC4H8NC2H5 ligands with the four Ni-S bond distances in the range of 0.22065（10）～0.22076（9） nm. The IR and FT-Raman spectral data are in agreement with the structural data. Thermal analysis indicates that the title compound decomposes completely at the temperature of 799.88℃, leaving NiS.

South to North Water Transfer Project in China is the largest project over centuries to solve the water shortage problem in vast areas of northern China. It comprises of three routes： the eastern, central and western route and this study mainly focused on the eastern route. As water quality is the key factor for the eastern route, this paper examined the main factors influencing water quality of the main route south of the Yellow River, by investigating the point source, non-point source （diffusive source） and internal source pollutions along the main eastern route and in its drainage basins, and assessing the Current water quality in the waterways. According to the complicated and combined systems of rivers and lakes in this route, one-dimensional water quantity and quality model for rivers and two-dimensional model for lakes were developed to simulate the hydrodynamic and pollutant transport processes. The numerical method and model algorithm were described. The values of model parameters were estimated by using field-monitoring data along the main route and the inverse modeling technique. Established models were employed to predict the degradations of CODMn and NH4^＋-N in the main stream, under the conditions of current pollution loads and different hydrologic conditions. Schemes were present for controlling total quantities of pollutants from point source and non-point source along the main route to secure water quality for the eastern route.

AIM： To investigate the safety of β-L-D4A on DNA polymerase α.METHODS： Ion exchange chromatography was used to separate DNA polymerase cc from crude extract of human Hela cells. Detailed kinetic parameters were determined for β-L-D4A against DNA polymeraseα . RESULTS： DNA polymerase was purified with 4% yield and 31000 units/mg specific activity. The Michaelis constant （Km = 3.22 i^mol/L）, 50% inhibition concentration （IC50 = 178.49 μmol/L） and inhibition constant （Ki = 126 mol/L） of β-L-D4A were determined by kinetic analysis. CONCLUSION： β-L-D4A is a more safe nucleoside for hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection with a lower host toxicity.

Herbal extracts have been extensively used worldwide for their application on memory improvement, especially among aged and memory-deficit populations. In the present study, the memory loss induced by human Abeta protein over-expression in fruitfly Alzheimer's disease(AD) model was rescued by multiple extracts from Gardenia jasminoides. Three extracts that rich with gardenia yellow, geniposide, and gardenoside components showed distinct rescue effect on memory loss. Further investigation on adding gardenoside into a formula of Ganoderma lucidum, Panax notoginseng and Panax ginseng(GPP) also support its therapeutic effects on memory improvement. Interestingly, the application of GPP and gardenoside did not alter the accumulation of Abeta proteins but suppressed the expression of immune-related genes in the brain. These results revealed the importance and relevancy of anti-inflammation process and the underlying mechanisms on rescuing memory deficits, suggesting the potential therapeutic use of the improved GPP formulation in improving cognition in defined population in the future.

Long-term follow-up study of elderly patients with covered stent implantation after coronary perforation

ObjectiveTo evaluate the long-term efficacy of covered stent implantation in the treatment of elderly patients with coronary perforation while undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI）.MethodsFrom June 2004 to June 2012, our center has followed ten elderly patients （age≥ 60 years） who sustained coronary perforation during PCI. The major adverse cardiac events （MACE） were observed as well. The patients were advised to take 75 mg/day Clopidogrel for two years, and indefinite use of 100 mg/day enteric-coated *** out of the 10 patients aged from 60 to 76 years old （mean 68.6 ± 5.2 years） were male, four were female. The average diameter of the implanted stents was 3.3 ± 0.3 mm, and the average length was 22.1 ± 3.7 mm. All the ruptures were successfully sealed without intra-procedural death. The follow-up duration ranged from 0.6 to 67 months （mean 31.7 ± 24.5 months）. One patient died of multiple organ failure due to lung infection in 19 days after PCI; one died of cardiac sudden death in 13 months after PCI; one had angina pectoris in 53 months after PCI; one underwent multi-slice CT examination in six months after PCI, and no in-stent restenosis was found. The other four patients received angiography follow-up, and the results showed that three patients had no intra-stent restenosis, while one had left anterior descending （LAD） restenosis in the covered stent in 67 months after PCI. The in-hospital mortality was 10% （1/10）. The MACE rate in 12 months after PCI was 10% （1/10）. During the entire followed-up period, the restenosis rate in target vessels was 20% （1/5）, mortality was 20% （2/10）, and the MACE rate was 40% （4/10）.ConclusionTreatment of coronary perforation by using covered stents can achieve favorable long-term results; a two-year dual antiplatelet therapy （DAPT） after PCI can effectively prevent intra-stent thrombosis.

Mathematical models simulating steep waves at a focus point are presented in this paper. Simulations of extreme waves in a model basin were used to determine the loads on floating structures induced by the waves. Based on a new wave theory, numerical test results show that the simulation procedure is effective and the induced motion of water particles in the front of waves is an important factor influencing impact loads on floating bodies.

Background To investigate the effects of collateral coronary circulation on the outcome of the patients with anterior myocardial infarction （MI） with left anterior desending artery occlusion abruptly. Methods Data of 189 patients with acute anterior MI who had a primary percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI） in the first 12 h from the onset of symptoms between January 2004 and December 2008 were retrospective analyzed. Left anterior descending arteries （LAD） of all patients were occluded. LADs were reopened with primary PCI. According to the collateral circulation, all patients were classified to two groups： no collateral group （n = 111）, patients without angiographic collateral filling of LAD or side branches （collateral index 0） and collateral group （n = 78）, and patients with angiographic collateral filling of LAD or side branches （collateral index 1, 2 or 3）. At one year＇ s follow-up, the occurrence of death, reinfarctlon, stent thrombosis （ST）, target vessel revascularization and readmission because of heart failure were observed. Results At one year, the mortality was lower in patients with collateral circulation compared with those without collateral circulation （1% vs. 8%, P = 0.049）, whereas there Were no differences in the occurrence of reinfarction, ST, target vessel revascularization and readmission because of heart failure. The occurrence of composite of endpoint was lower in patients with collateral circulation compared with those without collateral circulation （12% vs. 26%; P = 0.014）. Conclusions Pre-exist collateral circulation may prefigure the satisfactory prognosis to the patients with acute anterior MI after primary PCI in the first 12 h of MI onset.

On the basis of model tests, potential flow theory, and viscous Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD） method, the hydrodynamic interactions between two underwater bodies were investigated to determine the influencing factors, changing rule, interaction mechanism, and appropriate methods describing them. Some special phenomena were discovered in two series of near-wall interaction experiments. The mathematical model and predicting methods were presented for interacting forces near wall, and the calculation results agreed well with the experimental ones. From the comparisons among numerical results with respect to nonviscosity, numerical results with respect to viscosity, and measured results, data on the influence of viscosity on hydrodynamic interactions were obtained. For hydrodynamic interaction related to multi-body unsteady motions with six degrees of freedom that is difficult to simulate in tests, numerical predictions of unsteady interacting forces were given.

Xenorhabdus nematophila HB310, which is highly virulent for many insects, is symbiotic with Steinernema carpocapsae HB310. Toxin II was obtained using methods such as salting out and native-PAGE from the cells of X. nematophila HB310. The histopathology of toxin II on H. armigera larvae was studied by dissecting an olefin slice of the midgut. The symptoms showed that the histopathology of the H. armigera midgut was similar to that of other novel midgut-active toxins such as the δ-endotoxins from Bacillus thuringiensis, as well as Tca from Photorhabdus luminescens W14. The midgut tissues of H. armigera fourth-instar larvae began to transform after the oral intake of the toxin Ⅱ over 6 h. First, the anterior region of the peritrophic membrane （PM） began to degrade followed by the elongation of the columnar cells. The epithelium decomposed gradually, and the midgut tissues were either loose or disordered. The PM disappeared after 12 h but reappeared after 72 h following transient or sublethal exposure to the toxin Ⅱ. Toxin Ⅱ also directly destroyed in vitro PMs of H. armigera.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of life （QOL） in Chinese middle-aged male patients with gastric carcinoma after total gastrectomy, to investigate the factors affecting their QOL, and to Study the effectiveness of nursing *** Structured questionnaire （EORTC QLQ-C30） was used among 162 middle-aged male patients after total gastrectomy （the patients finished the whole process of chemotherapy, and returned home, and society） for data collection and reevaluate the patients＇ aualitv of life with 2 months nursing *** The patient＇s quality of life was related to their education level, economic condition, family support, and pathological staging. This study showed that patients got higher scores in Functional scales （except for CF）, and lower scores in Symptom scales and single items （except for FI） after receiving intervention than before it was received *** The study revealed that the QOL in middleaged male patients after total gastrectomy was worse when there was inadequate attention. After implementing pertinent nursing intervention implementing, patients＇ mental attitude and negative behavior were improved, and their QOL was enhanced after returning home and into society.
