Exhumation History of the Xining Basin Since the Mesozoic and Its Tectonic Significance

The Xining Basin is located in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, and its continuous Cenozoic strata record the entire uplift and outgrowth history of the Tibetan Plateau during the Cenozoic. The newly obtained apatite fission track data presented here shows that the Xining Basin and two marginal mountain ranges have experienced multiphase rapid cooling since the Jurassic, as follows. In the Middle-Late Jurassic, the rapid exhumation of the former Xining Basin resulted from collision between the Qiangtang Block and the Tarim Block. During the Early-Late Cretaceous, the former Xining Basin underwent a tectonic event due to marginal compression, causing the angular unconformity between the Upper and Lower Cretaceous. In the Late Cretaceous to the Early Cenozoic, collision between the Qiangtang Block and the Lhasa Block may have resulted in the rapid exhumation of the Xining Basin and the Lajishan to the south. In the Early Cenozoic （ca. 50-30 Ma）, collision between the Indian and Eurasia plates affected the region that corresponds to the present northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. During this period, the central Qilian Block rotated clockwise by approximately 24° to form a wedge-shaped basin （i.e., the Xining Basin） opening to the west. During ca. 17-8 Ma, the entire northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau underwent dramatic deformation, and the Lajishan uplifted rapidly owing to the northward compression of the Guide Basin from the south. A marked change in subsidence occurred in the Xining Basin during this period, when the basin was tectonically inverted.

Late Mesozoic-Cenozoic Exhumation of the Northern Hexi Corridor：Constrained by Apatite Fission Track Ages of the Longshoushan

The apatite fission track（AFT） ages and thermal modeling of the Longshoushan and deformation along the northern Hexi Corridor on the northern side of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau show that the Longshoushan along the northern corridor had experienced important multi-stage exhumations during the Late Mesozoic and Cenozoic. The AFT ages of 7 samples range from 31.9 Ma to 111.8 *** modeling of the AFT ages of the samples shows that the Longshoushan experienced significant exhumation during the Late Cretaceous to the Early Cenozoic（-130-25 Ma）. The Late Cretaceous exhumation of the Longshoushan may have resulted from the continuous compression between the Lhasa and Qiangtang blocks and the flat slab subduction of the Neo-Tethys oceanic plate, which affected wide regions across the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. During the Early Cenozoic, the Longshoushan still experienced exhumation, but this process was caused by the Indian-Eurasian collision. Since this time,the Longshoushan was in a stable stage for approximately 20 Ma and experienced erosion. Since -5 Ma,obvious tectonic deformation occurred along the entire northern Hexi Corridor, which has also been reported from the peripheral regions of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, especially in the Qilianshan and northeastern margin of the plateau. The AFT ages and the Late Cenozoic deformation of the northern Hexi Corridor all indicate that the present northern boundary of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is situated along the northern Hexi Corridor.

This study evaluated the effects of active dry yeast(ADY)supplementation and supplementation stra-tegies on ruminal fermentation,bacterial community,blood metabolites,and growth performance in young dairy *** young female Guanzhong dairy goats of similar age(4.00±0.50 months)and BW(19.65±0.41 kg)were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=20):(1)basal diet group(CON);(2)basal diet continuously supplemented with 3.0 g/goat per day commercial ADY(a proprietary strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with 5.0×10^(9)cfu/g)group(CSY);(3)basal diet with intermittently supple-mented ADY group(ISY;5 d supplementation with ADY at 4.5 g/goat per day following 5 d of no sup-plementation).The experiment lasted 67 d with the first 7 d as an adaptive *** fluid and blood samples were collected *** were analyzed using the MIXED procedure combined with the SLICE option in *** orthogonal contrasts of ADY *** and CSY *** were also *** the experimental period,ADY supplementation resulted in greater DMI(P=0.03),ruminal ac-etate proportion(P<0.01)and acetylesterase activity(P=0.01),and blood contents of glucose(P=0.01)and IgM(P=0.02)and tended to have greater ADG(P=0.05)and paunch girth(P=0.06)than the CON,despite the propionate proportion(P=0.03)and contents of total protein(P=0.04)and IgA(P=0.03)being *** lower ruminal NH_(3)-N(P<0.01)and blood urea nitrogen(P=0.07)contents indicated greater nitrogen utilization with ADY *** supplementation showed persistent effects after it was stopped because the BW at 12 months of age(P=0.03)and birth weight of lambs(P=0.02)were greater than the ***,the ISY did not show those benefits and had significantly lower relative abundances of fiber-degrading related bacteria than the *** conclusion,ADY supplementa-tion,especially continuously supplemented,may enhance ADG and ADG:DMI ratio by improving DMI,ruminal cellulolytic bacteria abundance and enzyme activity,nitrogen utilizat

Enhanced Mineralization of p-Fluoronitrobenzene in a Methane-based Hollow-fiber Membrane Biofilm Reactor

In this study,the enhanced mineralization of p-fluoronitrobenzene(p-FNB)was achieved in a methane-based hollow-fiber membrane biofilm reactor(CH4-MBfR).A TOC removal of 73.2%was gained in CH4-MBfR with an influent p-FNB loading of 42―84 mg/L·d,while only 40.6%of TOC was removed in the corresponding control biological reactor(BR).Moreover,the reaction rate constant for TOC removal in CH4-MBfR was 2.48 times that of the *** was only detected in CH4-MBfR,although oxidation elimination was the first step for p-FNB removal in both *** and Methylononas were dominant strains in the CH4-MBfR,which may play an important role in converting CH4 to VFAs and then further enhancing the mineralization efficiency of p-FNB.

Deformation at the Easternmost Altyn Tagh Fault: Constraints on the Growth of the Northern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau

How the Altyn Tagh fault(ATF) extends eastwards is one of the key questions in the study of the growth of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau. Detailed fieldwork at the easternmost part of the ATF shows that the ATF extends eastward and bypasses the Kuantan Mountain;it does not stop at the Kuantan Mountain, but connects with the northern Heishan fault in the east. The ATF does not enter the Alxa Block but extends eastward along the southern Alxa Block to the Jintanan Mountain. The Heishan fault is not a thrust fault but a sinistral strike-slip fault with a component of thrusting and is a part of the ATF. Further to the east, the Heishan fault may connect with the Jintananshan fault. A typical strike-slip duplex develops in the easternmost part of the ATF. The cut and deformed Quaternary sediments and displaced present gullies along the easternmost ATF indicate that it is an active fault. The local highest Mountain(i.e., the Kuantan Mountain) in the region forms in a restraining bend of the ATF due to the thrusting and uplifting. The northward growth of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau and the active deformation in South Mongolia are realized by sinistral strike-slipping on a series of NE–SW-trending faults and thrusting in restraining bends along the strike-slip faults with the northeastward motion of blocks between these faults.

Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic Multi-Stage Denudation at the Western Ordos Block： Constraints by the Apatite Fission Track Dating on the Langshan

The apatite fission track dating of samples from the Dabashan （i.e., the Langshan in the northeastern Alxa Block） by the laser ablation method and their thermal history modeling of AFT ages are conducted in this study. The obtained results and lines of geological evidence in the study region indicate that the Langshan has experienced complicated tectonic-thermal events during the the Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic. Firstly, it experienced a tectonic-thermal event in the Late Cretaceous （-90-70 Ma）. The event had little relation with the oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate along the eastern Eurasian Plate, but was related to the Neo-Tethys subduction and compression between the Lhasa Block and Qiangtang Block. Secondly, it underwent the dextral slip faulting in the Eocene （-50-45 Ma）. The strike slip fault may develop in the same tectonic setting as sinistral slip faults in southern Mongolia and thrusts in West Qinling to the southwest Ordos Block in the same period, which is the remote far-field response to the India-Eurasia collision. Thirdly, the tectonic thermal event existed in the late Cenozoic （since -10 Ma）, thermal modeling shows that several samples began their denudation from upper region of partial annealing zone （PAZ）, and the denudation may have a great relationship with the growth of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau to the northeast. In addition, the AFT ages of Langshan indicate that the main body of the Langshan may be an upper part of fossil PAZ of the Late Cretaceous （-70 Ma）. The fossil PAZ were destroyed and deformed by tectonic events repeatedly in the Cenozoic along with the denudation.

Rumen bacterial cluster identification and its influence on rumen metabolites and growth performance of young goats

Enterotypes,which are defined as bacterial clusters in the gut microbiome,have been found to have a close relationship to host metabolism and ***,this concept has never been used in the rumen,and little is known about the complex biological relationships between ruminants and their rumen bacterial *** this study,we used young goats(n=99)as a model,fed them the same diet,and analyzed their rumen microbiome and corresponding bacterial *** relationships between the bacterial clusters and rumen fermentation and growth performance in the goats were further *** bacterial clusters were identified in all goats:the P-cluster(dominated by genus Prevotella,n=38)and R-cluster(dominated by Ruminococcus,n=61).Compared with P-cluster goats,Rcluster goats had greater growth rates,concentrations of propionate,butyrate,and 18 free amino acids)and proportion of unsaturated fatty acids,but lower acetate molar percentage,acetate to propionate ratio,and several odd and branched chain and saturated fatty acids in rumen fluid(P<0.05).Several members of Firmicutes,including Ruminococcus,Oscillospiraceae NK4A214 group,and Christensenellaceae R-7 group were significantly higher in the R-cluster,whereas Prevotellaceae members,such as Prevotella and Prevotellaceae UCG-003,were significantly higher in P-cluster(P<0.01).Co-occurrence networks showed that R-cluster enriched bacteria had significant negative correlations with P-cluster enriched bacteria(P<0.05).Moreover,we found the concentrations of propionate,butyrate and free amino acids,and the proportions of unsaturated fatty acids were positively correlated with R-cluster enriched bacteria(P<0.05).The concentrations of acetate,acetate to propionate ratio,and the proportion of odd and branched chain and saturated fatty acids were positively correlated with P-cluster enriched bacteria(P<0.05).Overall,our results indicated that rumen bacterial clusters can influence rumen fermentation and growth performan

Tectonic controls on ore deposit exhumation and preservation:A case study of the Handan-Xingtai iron-skarn district

Despite the growing concern regarding post-mineralization thermo-tectonic processes in recent years,the relative roles in exhuming and preserving ore deposits remain highly *** study presents new apatite fission track and(U-Th)/He data from the Xishimen iron skarn deposit in the Handan-Xingtai district,central North China *** fission track dating yielded central ages ranging from 88±18 Ma to 125±9 Ma,with mean confined track lengths varying between 11.9±0.4μm and 13.3±0.2μ*** apatite(U-Th)/He dating provided ages of 42.5±0.8 Ma to 48.1±3.3 *** new data,combined with previous zircon U-Pb and potassium-bearing mineral^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar ages,revealed three cooling episodes:very rapid cooling(100–140℃/Ma)at ca.130–120 Ma,a protracted slow cooling period(0.2–0.4℃/Ma)at ca.120–50 Ma,and moderate cooling(0.8–1.0℃/Ma)since ca.50 *** initial rapid cooling phase was primarily attributed to post-magmatic thermal equilibration following the shallow emplacement of the Xishimen *** subsequent cooling phases were controlled by uplift and exhumation *** thermal models indicate an estimated total unroofing thickness of<3 km,which is shallower than the emplacement depth of the ore deposit(3–5 km).This suggests significant potential for mineral ***,a comprehensive review of preservation mechanisms for various ore deposits underscores the significant role of tectonics in both exhuming and preserving ore bodies.
