Adaptive Integrated Coastal Zone Planning:History,Challenges,Advances,and Perspectives

Coastal zones are dynamic,rich environments,now densely populated,and increasingly challenged by human and climatechange *** long-term integrated coastal zone planning is needed to ensure sustainable environmental protection and economic *** this study,we reviewed the history of coastal zone planning since its birth in the 1950s based on the literature retrieved from the Web of Science(Core Collection)from 2000–2023,then summarized the tools and spatial allocation methods commonly used in the planning process,and finally proposed potential solutions to the challenges *** results show that after decades of development,coastal zone planning has changed from a decentralized activity to a targeted and integrated one,with an increasing emphasis on the ecosystem approach and the use of multiple planning *** analysis techniques and environmental modelling software have become increasingly *** programming and overlay analysis are common approaches when performing spatial optimization,but land-sea interactions and planning in the marine parts still lack in-depth analysis and practical *** are also aware that the challenges posed by the integration of administrative hierarchies,scoping and conservation objectives,stakeholder participation,consideration of social dimensions,and climate change are pervasive throughout the planning *** is an urgent need to develop more flexible and accurate spatial modelling tools,as well as more efficient participatory methods,and to focus on the holistic nature of the land-sea system to create more resilient and sustainable coastal zones.

Drug repurposing for cancer treatment through global propagation with a greedy algorithm in a multilayer network

Objective:Drug repurposing,the application of existing therapeutics to new indications,holds promise in achieving rapid clinical effects at a much lower cost than that of de novo drug *** aim of our study was to perform a more comprehensive drug repurposing prediction of diseases,particularly ***:Here,by targeting 4,096 human diseases,including 384 cancers,we propose a greedy computational model based on a heterogeneous multilayer network for the repurposing of 1,419 existing drugs in Drug *** performed additional experimental validation for the dominant repurposed drugs in ***:The overall performance of the model was well supported by cross-validation and literature *** on the top-ranked repurposed drugs in cancers,we verified the anticancer effects of 5 repurposed drugs widely used clinically in drug sensitivity *** of the distinctive antitumor effects of nifedipine(an antihypertensive agent)and nortriptyline(an antidepressant drug)in prostate cancer,we further explored their underlying mechanisms by using quantitative *** analysis revealed that both nifedipine and nortriptyline affected the cancer-related pathways of DNA replication,the cell cycle,and RNA ***,in vivo experiments demonstrated that nifedipine and nortriptyline significantly inhibited the growth of prostate tumors in a xenograft ***:Our predicted results,which have been released in a public database named The Predictive Database for Drug Repurposing(PAD),provide an informative resource for discovering and ranking drugs that may potentially be repurposed for cancer treatment and determining new therapeutic effects of existing drugs.

Soil salinization seriously restricts the development of agricultural production,the sustainable use of land resources,and the stability of the ecological *** order to objectively reveal the research status of soil salinization,CiteSpace software was used to conduct data mining and quantitative analysis on research papers on soil salinization from 2008 to 2023 in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and Web of science *** data sources were transformed into visual graphs by reproducing clustering statistics from aspects such as publication volume,authors,keywords,and publishing *** addition,this paper also combined the actual needs and cutting-edge hotspots in relevant research in China,and proposed and analyzed the limitations and future development trends of soil salinity monitoring research in *** has important practical significance for comprehensively grasping the current research status of salinization,further clarifying and sorting out the research ideas of salinization monitoring,enriching the remote sensing monitoring methods of saline soil,and solving the actual problems of soil salinization in China.

The western region of Jilin Province is rich in wetland resources,and its biodiversity is rich. However in recent years,due to the reduction of natural precipitation,human activities and other causes,wetland shrivels and degenerates,biodiversity reduces,and ecosystem security is threatened. In this paper,the rivers and lakes connecting project in western Jilin Province is proposed to restore the damaged wetlands and protect important wetlands.

Study on Eco-environmental Stress Based on the Method of Entropy-GM(1,1) ——A Case Study in Tongyu County of Jilin Province

This paper takes the Tongyu County as an example, based on the evaluation indicator system of eco-environmental stress, using the method of the entropy- GM（1,1 ）, the eco-environmental stress is evaluated and forecasted, Results show that the shortage of water resources, the desertification, the salinization, the grassland degeneration and the population increase are major stress factors of eco-environment worsening in the Tongyu County; eco-environmental stress coefficient from 1994 to 2013 in the region was increasing year by year, and the stress degree jumped from level-Ⅲ to level-Ⅳ. The forecast results show that if the measures don＇t be taken to protect eco-environment, the stress coefficient still grows, and the stress degree aggravates. In view of the above situation, we take the measures to lighten eco-environment stress, and promote the coordi- nated development of resources, environment and social economy, which is linking rivers and lakes, water resources optimization, preventing and controlling the desertification and the salinization, improving the degenerated grassland.

Current Pattern of Water Ecology and Its Existing Problems in Jilin Province

Pattern distribution characteristics of water ecology in Jilin Province are introduced, and provincial water ecology problems are revealed from river cut-off and wetland shrinkage, fish resources reduction and habitat fragmentation, water pollution, soil erosion and so on. Relevant suggestions on water ecology protection are proposed, such as implementing relevant laws and policies, controlling total sewage discharge, optimizing water resources allocation, and enhancing wetland protection, fish resources protection, comprehensive management of small watershed and water ecology compensation. The research could provide certain reference for protection and restoration of water ecology in the watershed.

Application of TSD tunnel seismic prediction system in karst area

Application of ultrasonic CT method in nondestructive detection of interior defects in large scale concrete structural member of bridge

The ultrasonic computed tomography （USCT） method is derived from the basic principles of X-ray section scanning. This method records the arriving times of ultrasonic wave between the probes and the sources to ealculate the elastic wave velocity values in the section using the arrival times. Through analyzed the distribution Of elastic wave velocity in aim area, the information of the strength and the homogeneity of the investigated zone could be got indirectly. The authors introduced the operational principle of USCT and a practical case of using this method to detect the interior defects in large scale concrete structural member. Compared with other exploration methods, this method is more efficient and accurate.

The seismic CT method in measuring rock bodies

The seismic computed tomography （CT） method is derived from the basic principles of X-ray section scanning first applied in medical science. The method records P-wave arrivals between shots and receivers in separate boreholes. Using the velocity information from 2D seismic P-wave arrival inversion, we can determine the distribution of velocity in rock and soil bodies. This paper introduces a practical case of using the seismic CT method for detecting the structure of the rocks for tunnel engineering and to utilize SIRT algorithms for doing first arrival time iterative inversion. Compared with other exploration methods, it is more efficient and accurate.
