The sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfides in lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries are a significant obstacle to their widespread adoption as energy storage ***,recent studies have shown that tungsten oxide(WO_(3))can facilitate the conversion kinetics of polysulfides in Li-S ***,we fabricated host materials for sulfur using nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(N-CNTs)and WO_(3).We used low-cost components and simple procedures to overcome the poor electrical conductivity that is a disadvantage of metal *** composites of WO_(3) and N-CNTs(WO_(3)/N-CNTs)create a stable framework structure,fast ion diffusion channels,and a 3D electron transport network during electrochemical reaction *** a result,the WO_(3)/N-CNT-Li2S6 cathode demonstrates high initial capacity(1162 mA·h·g^(-1) at 0.5℃),excellent rate performance(618 mA·h·g^(-1) at 5.5℃),and a low capacity decay rate(0.093%up to 600 cycles at 2℃).This work presents a novel approach for preparing tungsten oxide/carbon composite catalysts that facilitate the redox kinetics of polysulfide conversion.

Scholars aim for the improved impedance matching (Z) of materials while maintaining their excellent wave absorption properties. Based on the hydrolysis characteristics of isopropyl titanate, a simple preparation process for the coating of carbonyl iron powder(CIP) with TiO_(2) was designed. Given the TiO2coating, the Z of the CIP@TiO_(2) composite was adjusted well by decreasing the dielectric constant. Moreover, the interfacial polarization of CIP@TiO_(2) was enhanced. Ultimately, the electromagnetic-wave (EMW) absorption property of the CIP@TiO_(2)composite was improved substantially, the minimum reflection loss reached-46.07 dB, and the effective absorption bandwidth can reach 8 GHz at the composite thickness of 1.5 mm. Moreover, compared with CIP, the oxidation resistance of CIP@TiO_(2)showed remarkable improvement. The results revealed that the oxidation starting temperature of CIP@TiO_(2) as about 400℃,whereas the uncoated CIP had an oxidation starting temperature of approximately 250℃. Moreover, the largest oxidation rate temperature of CIP@TiO_(2) increased to around 550℃. This work opens up a novel strategy for the production of high-performance EMW absorbers via structural design.

Zebrafish serve as a valuable model organism for studying germ cell biology and reproductive *** AB strain of zebrafish is proposed to exhibit a polygenic sex determination system,where most males initially develop juvenile ovaries before committing to male *** species with chromosomal sex determination,gonadal somatic cells are recognized as key determinants of germ cell ***,the loss of germ cells in zebrafish leads to masculinization,implying that germ cells harbor an intrinsic feminization ***,the specific signal triggering oogenesis in zebrafish remains *** the present study,we identified foxl2l as an oocyte progenitor-specific gene essential for initiating oogenesis in germ *** showed that foxl2l-knockout zebrafish bypassed the juvenile ovary stage and exclusively developed into fertile *** analysis revealed that loss of foxl2l hindered the initiation of oocyte-specific meiosis and prevented entry into oogenesis,leading to premature spermatogenesis during early gonadal ***,while mutation of the pro-male gene dmrt1 led to fertile female differentiation,simultaneous disruption of foxl2l in dmrt1 mutants completely blocked oogenesis,with a large proportion of germ cells arrested as germline stem cells,highlighting the crucial role of foxl2l in ***,this study highlights the unique function of foxl2l as a germ cell-intrinsic gatekeeper of oogenesis in zebrafish.

Stability analysis of loose accumulation slopes under rainfall:case study of a high‑speed railway in Southwest China

The high and steep slopes along a high-speed railway in the mountainous area of Southwest China are mostly composed of loose accumulations of debris with large internal pores and poor stability,which can easily induce adverse geological disasters under rainfall *** ensure the smooth construction of the high-speed railway and the subsequent safe operation,it is necessary to master the stability evolution process of the loose accumulation slope under *** article simulates rainfall using the finite element analysis software’s hydromechanical coupling *** slope stability under various rainfall situations is calculated and analysed based on the strength reduction *** validate the simulation results,a field monitoring system is established to study the deformation characteristics of the slope under *** results show that rainfall duration is the key factor affecting slope *** a constant amount of rainfall,the stability of the slope decreases with increasing duration of ***,when the amount and duration of rainfall are constant,continuous rainfall has a greater impact on slope stability than intermittent *** setting of the field retaining structures has a significant role in improving slope *** field monitoring data show that the slope is in the initial deformation stage and has good stability,which verifies the rationality of the numerical simulation *** research results can provide some references for understanding the influence of rainfall on the stability of loose accumulation slopes along high-speed railways and establishing a monitoring system.

As a vital type of light-absorbing aerosol,brown carbon(BrC)presents inherent associations with atmospheric photochemistry and climate ***,the understanding of the chemical and optical properties of BrC is limited,especially in some resource-dependent cities with long heating periods in northwest *** study showed that the annual average abundances of Water-soluble BrC(WS-BrC)were 9.33±7.42 and 8.69±6.29μg/m^(3)in Baotou and Wuhai and the concentrations,absorption coefficient(Abs_(365)),and mass absorption efficiency(MAE365)of WS-BrC presented significant seasonal patterns,with high values in the heating season and low values in the non-heating season;while showing opposite seasonal trends for the Absorption Angstr?m exponent(AAE_(300-400)).Comparatively,the levels of WS-BrC in developing regions(such as cities in Asia)were higher than those in developed regions(such as cities in Europe and Australia),indicating the significant differences in energy consumption in these *** combining fluorescence excitation-emission matrix(EEM)spectra with the parallel factor(PARAFAC)model,humic-like(C1 and C2)and proteinlike(C3)substances were identified,and accounted for 61.40%±4.66%and 38.6%±3.78%at Baotou,and 60.33%±6.29%and 39.67%±4.17%at Wuhai,*** results of source apportionment suggested that the potential source regions of WS-BrC varied in heating ***-heating seasons and that the properties of WS-BrC significantly depended on primary emissions(e.g.,combustion emissions)and secondary formation.

A functional hybrid nano-hydroxyapatite(carboxymethyl cellulose-phytic acid-n-HA,CMC-PA-n-HA)was prepared by adding CMC and *** results of Fourier transformation infrared spectra,X-ray diffraction,thermal gravimetric analysis and dispersion experiments indicated that the addition of CMC and PA affected the morphology,crystallinity and crystal size of hybrid n-HA,and CMC endowed hybrid n-HA with excellent *** electron microscope results showed that CMC-PA-n-HA nanoparticle could be uniformly dispersed in chitosan(CS)matrix to obtain composite membrane by casting technology,so that the highest tensile strength of CMC-PA-n-HA/CS composite membrane was 69.64%and 144.45%higher than that of CS membrane and n-HA/CS composite membrane,*** angle test showed that CMC-PA-n-HA effectively improved hydrophilicity of the CS *** simulated body fluid immersion results indicated that the CMC-PA-n-HA/CS composite membrane not only exhibited good degradability but also promoted bone-like apatite *** cell proliferation experiments proved that the introduction of PA made the composite membrane have better cell adhesion and proliferation *** tests demonstrated that PA could effectively improve the antibacterial properties of the composite membrane,which is expected to be applied as guide bone tissue regeneration membrane.

Biofoam products have attracted considerable attention lately because there is a growing demand for green/sustainable *** this end,various biobased foams have either been developed or are currently in development,e.g.,bio-based polyurethanes(PUs),polylactic acid(PLA),starch,and polyhydroxyalkanotates(PHAs).Indeed,significant progress has been made;however,chal-lenges still persist,for example,biobased foam products have poor processability,inferior com-patibility,thermal and strength *** this review,we focus on five biofoam products:namely bio-based PUs,PLA,starch,PHAs,and cellulose biofoam products,along with their prop-erties and performance,as well as their manufacturing *** efforts are still needed to unlock the full potential of these bio-based products and meet the goal of complementing and gradually replacing some of their fossil-based ***,the challenges,as well as arising opportunities of future research directions are discussed.

In this paper, the optimal variational generalized Nash equilibrium(v-GNE) seeking problem in merely monotone games with linearly coupled cost functions is investigated, in which the feasible strategy domain of each agent is coupled through an affine constraint. A distributed algorithm based on the hybrid steepest descent method is first proposed to seek the optimal v-GNE. Then, an accelerated algorithm with relaxation is proposed and analyzed, which has the potential to further improve the convergence speed to the optimal v-GNE. Some sufficient conditions in both algorithms are obtained to ensure the global convergence towards the optimal v-GNE. To illustrate the performance of the algorithms, numerical simulation is conducted based on a networked Nash-Cournot game with bounded market capacities.

Difunctionalization of alkynes represents a powerful and straightforward approach to the synthesis of complex ***,the radical difunctionalization of alkynes mediated by bifunctional reagents remains challenging and underexplored,despite significant progress having been made in alkene ***,we report a novel arylsulfonylacetate skeleton in which aryl rings are attached to acetates through SO_(2),serving as a powerful bifunctional reagent for the alkylarylation of alkynes via vinyl-radical intermediate under photoredox *** modular bifunctional reagent enables the simultaneous incorporation of a wide range of functional groups,including(hetero)aryl ring and alkyl carboxylate into alkynes,resulting in synthetically valuable all-carbon tetrasubstituted alkene *** transformation is distinguished by its redox-neutral nature,readily accessible starting materials,compatibility with diverse functional groups and its capacity to facilitate convergent *** utility of this approach was further demonstrated by the late-stage functionalization of complex molecules and the preparation of fluorescent molecules and anti-cancer drugs.
