Enhance the Performance of Directional Feature-based Palmprint Recognition by Directional Response Stability Measurement

Palmprint recognition is an emerging biometrics technology that has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Many palmprint recognition methods have been proposed, including traditional methods and deep learning-based methods. Among the traditional methods, the methods based on directional features are mainstream because they have high recognition rates and are robust to illumination changes and small noises. However, to date, in these methods, the stability of the palmprint directional response has not been deeply studied. In this paper, we analyse the problem of directional response instability in palmprint recognition methods based on directional feature. We then propose a novel palmprint directional response stability measurement (DRSM) to judge the stability of the directional feature of each pixel. After filtering the palmprint image with the filter bank, we design DRSM according to the relationship between the maximum response value and other response values for each pixel. Using DRSM, we can judge those pixels with unstable directional response and use a specially designed encoding mode related to a specific method. We insert the DRSM mechanism into seven classical methods based on directional feature, and conduct many experiments on six public palmprint databases. The experimental results show that the DRSM mechanism can effectively improve the performance of these methods. In the field of palmprint recognition, this work is the first in-depth study on the stability of the palmprint directional response, so this paper has strong reference value for research on palmprint recognition methods based on directional features.

Cellular senescence is the results of aging and age-related diseases,and the development of anti-aging methods may improve health and extend longevity.The natural flavonol fisetin has been shown to antagonize senescence in vitro and increases longevity in vivo,but has poor water solubility and limited bioavailability.In this study,a food-grade and senescent cell-targeted delivery system for fisetin was developed based on whey protein isolate-galactooligosaccharides(WPI-GOS)Maillard conjugate,which could recognize senescence associatedβ-galactosidase in senescent cells.The fisetin nanoparticles possessed a high encapsulation efficiency,excellent dispersibility in water,good storage stability and well biocompatibility.Moreover,they could effectively accumulate and retain in senescent cells with excellent senescent cell-targeting efficacy,and inhibit the oxidative stress-induced cellular senescence in vitro.Thus,this novel nanoparticle system based on WPI-GOS Maillard conjugate showed promise to deliver hydrophobic bioactive ingredients like fisetin to senescent cells to improve their bioavailability and anti-senescence effect.

Aiming at the problems of low efficiency,poor anti-noise and robustness of transfer learning model in intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery,a new method of intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery based on single source and multi-target domain adversarial network model(WDMACN)and Gram Angle Product field(GAPF)was proposed.Firstly,the original one-dimensional vibration signal is preprocessed using GAPF to generate the image data including all time series.Secondly,the residual network is used to extract data features,and the features of the target domain without labels are pseudo-labeled,and the transferable features among the feature extractors are shared through the depth parameter,and the feature extractors of the multi-target domain are updated anatomically to generate the features that the discriminator cannot distinguish.The modelt through adversarial domain adaptation,thus achieving fault classification.Finally,a large number of validations were carried out on the bearing data set of Case Western Reserve University(CWRU)and the gear data.The results show that the proposed method can greatly improve the diagnostic efficiency of the model,and has good noise resistance and generalization.

It has been shown that the high expression of human epididymis protein 4(HE4)in most lung cancers is related to the poor prognosis of patients,but the mechanism of pathological transformation of HE4 in lung cancer is still unclear.The current study is expected to clarify the function and mechanism of HE4 in the occurrence and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD).Immunoblotting evaluated HE4 expression in lung cancer cell lines and biopsies,and through analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)dataset.Frequent HE4 overexpression was demonstrated in LUAD,but not in lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC),indicating that HE4 can serve as a biomarker to distinguish between LUAD and LUSC.HE4 knockdown significantly inhibited cell growth,colony formation,wound healing,and invasion,and blocked the G1-phase of the cell cycle in LUAD cell lines through inactivation of the EGFR signaling downstream including PI3K/AKT/mTOR and RAF/MAPK pathways.The first-line EGFR inhibitor gefitinib and HE4 shRNA had no synergistic inhibitory effect on the growth of lung adenocarcinoma cells,while the third-line EGFR inhibitor osimertinib showed additive anti-proliferative effects.Moreover,we provided evidence that HE4 regulated EGFR expression by transcription regulation and protein interaction in LUAD.Our findings suggest that HE4 positively modulates the EGFR signaling pathway to promote growth and invasiveness in LUAD and highlight that targeting HE4 could be a novel strategy for LUAD treatment.

The development of rodent models that accurately reflect the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) in humans is crucial for evaluating the nutritional intervention of food bioactive ingredients in ALD. Although various models have been employed to establish ALD models over the past few decades， most successful cases are associated with high mortality rates， operational difficulties， and incompatibility formation mechanism compared to human ALD. However， the ALD models established by oral administration that simulate human drinking behavior often fail to induce significant liver damage. Therefore， it is imperative to explore simple and effective modes of oral administration for establishing ALD models consistent with the pathophysiological process of human ALD. Herein， we summarized the pathogenesis of ALD and discussed several issues related to construct ALD models with rodents (mainly mice and rats) by oral administration， including animal selection， animal feeding， alcohol intervention， and evaluation criteria. The purpose of this review is to provide a standardized and efficient formula for ALD modeling， so as to facilitate efficacy evaluation and mechanism analysis of food bioactive ingredients in ALD.

This paper introduces the refrigeration cycle process of the gas wave oscillation tube(GWOT).Aiming at the problem that the strong reverse compression waves generated during the refrigeration process affect the performance,this paper proposes a variable-section GWOT that weakens the reverse compression waves and a variable-section structure designed using a numerical method.Results showed that the variable-section structure could reduce the intensity of the incident shock wave by approximately 7%and the total entropy production in the refrigeration cycle by approximately 8%under the design condition.Moreover,the variable-section structure can effectively weaken the strength of the reverse compression waves and improve the refrigeration efficiency by approximately 4%under the same working conditions.The variable-section structure can also widen the highperformance working range of the GWOT.The experimental results reveal that the high-performance working range can be expanded by more than two times under the design condition.The research can guide the subsequent development of gas wave refrigeration technology and a reference for other wave rotor application technologies.

A numerical simulation model of plenoptic sensor aberration wavefront detection is established to simulate and analyze the detection performance of plenoptic sensor aberration wavefront for different turbulence intensities.The results show that the plenoptic sensor can achieve better distortion wavefront detection,and its wavefront detection accuracy improves with turbulence intensity.The unique optical structure design of the plenoptic sensor makes it more suitable for aberration wavefront detection in strong turbulent conditions.The wavefront detection performance of the plenoptic sensor is not only related to its wavefront reconstruction algorithm but also closely related to its structural parameter settings.The influence of structural parameters on the wavefront detection accuracy of plenoptic sensors under different turbulence intensities is simulated and analyzed.The variation law of wavefront detection accuracy and structural parameters under different turbulence intensities is summarized to provide a reference for the structural design and parameter optimization of plenoptic sensors.

The development of a new-fashioned functional nanomaterial with an outstanding photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)activity under visible-light irradiation is a sustainable and promising strategy to cope with the increasingly serious global energy crisis.Herein,an advanced ternary photocatalytic HER catalyst,in which the Pt nanoparticles and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)nanosheets are synchronously anchored on the surface of CdS nanospheres(Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Pt@CdS),is elaborately constructed via acid etching,sel-freduction,and solvothermal treatment.Therein,the synergistic promoting effect between Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)and Pt on the charge transfer of CdS effectively hinders the backtransfer of electrons to recombine with holes,resulting in a high-effective utilization of photoexcited charges.The obtained Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Pt@CdS possesses a superior photocatalytic HER activity compared to that of single active component catalyst.This work demonstrates the great potential of MXene materials in constructing high performance photocatalysts.

A fault diagnosis method based on continuous wavelet transform and improved multi-dimensional residual network was proposed to solve the problem that the working environment of precision machining equipment is very complicated, and the fault characteristic signal is weak and hard to extract. Firstly, the best wavelet base Cmor 3-3 is selected by comparing 6 different wavelet base types. Secondly, continuous wavelet transform(CWT) is applied to the acquired original vibration signal to generate the feature map and process the gray level. Finally, the improved ResNeXt network is used to diagnose faults in precision machining equipment. The experimental results show that the proposed CWT and the improved ResNeXt algorithm have high accuracy in identifying precision machining equipment faults in complex environments, with an average accuracy of 99.4%.
