Thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) coupled simulation of the land subsidence due to aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) system in soft soils

Aquifer thermal energy storage(ATES)system has received attention for heating or cooling ***,it is well known that land subsidence becomes a major environmental concern for ATES ***,the effect of temperature on land subsidence has received practically no attention in the *** paper presents a thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)coupled numerical study on an ATES system in Shanghai,*** water wells were installed for seasonal heating and cooling of an agriculture *** target aquifer at a depth of 74e104.5 m consisted of alternating layers of sand and silty sand and was covered with *** level,temperature,and land subsidence data from 2015 to 2017 were collected using field monitoring *** by data,we constructed a field scale three-dimensional(3D)model using TOUGH(Transport of Unsaturated Groundwater and Heat)and FLAC3D(Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua)equipped with a thermo-elastoplastic constitutive *** effectiveness of the numerical model was validated by field *** model was used to reproduce groundwater flow,heat transfer,and mechanical responses in porous media over three years and capture the thermo-and pressure-induced land *** results show that the maximum thermoinduced land subsidence accounts for about 60%of the total *** thermo-induced subsidence is slightly greater in winter than that in summer,and more pronounced near the cold well area than the hot well *** study provides some valuable guidelines for controlling land subsidence caused by ATES systems installed in soft soils.

Buckling Properties of Water-Drop-Shaped Pressure Hulls with Various Shape Indices Under Hydrostatic External Pressure

The water-drop-shaped pressure hull has a good streamline,which has good application prospect in the underwater ***,this study conducted analytical,experimental and numerical investigation of the buckling properties of water-drop-shaped pressure hulls under hydrostatic pressure.A water-drop experiment was conducted to design water-drop-shaped pressure hulls with various shape *** critical loads for the water-drop-shaped pressure hulls were resolved by using Mushtari’s *** numerical simulations including linear buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis including eigenmode imperfections were *** results indicated that the critical loads resolved by Mushtari's formula were in good agreement with the linear buckling loads from the numerical *** formula can be extended to estimate the buckling capacity of water-drop-shaped pressure *** addition,three groups of pressure hulls were fabricated by using stereolithography,a rapid prototyping ***,three groups of the pressure hulls were subjected to ultrasonic measurements,optical scanning,hydrostatic testing and numerical *** experimental results were consistent with the numerical *** results indicate that the sharp end of the water-drop-shaped pressure hulls exhibited instability compared with the blunt *** paper provides a new solution to the limitations of experimental studies on the water-drop-shaped pressure hulls as well as a new configuration and evaluation method for underwater observatories.

Multi-spheric interactions driven differential formation and accumulation of hydrocarbon resources in the North Sea Basin

The North Sea Basin is the most important oil and gas producing area in Europe and the birthplace of many classic petroleum geological theories. From the perspective of multi-spheric interactions in the Earth, this study investigated the riftforeland-rift evolution process of the North Sea Basin, which was controlled by the deep dynamic driving forces of the continental collision orogeny, mantle plume uplift, and intraplate deformation. The North Sea Basin was found to have drifted northward since the Carboniferous and passed through the low-latitude Hadley and the mid-latitude Ferrel cells. Two sets of main hydrocarbon source rocks have formed, the coals and coal measures of the Upper Carboniferous Westphalian and the marine shale of the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation. We propose that the deep processes, tectonic activity, and transgression-climate evolution jointly controlled the types and horizons of the source rocks, reservoirs, and seals in different regions of the North Sea Basin. In the southern North Sea Basin, a Carboniferous-Lower Triassic gas-rich petroleum system was formed,which is characterized by transitional coal measure source rocks, desert aeolian sandstone reservoirs, and evaporite cap rocks. In the northern North Sea Basin, an Upper Triassic-Paleogene oil-rich petroleum system was formed, which is characterized by marine graben-type source rocks, deltaic sandstone and marine limestone reservoirs, and marine tight marl and shale cap *** late tectonic burial and uplift in the North Sea Basin further controlled the processes of oil and gas generation and accumulation, ultimately leading to a differential distribution pattern which is oil rich in the northern part and gas rich in the southern part of the basin. Characteristics of atmospheric nitrous oxide observed at *** GAW global station in the inland Eurasia during eighteen years

This study presents atmospheric N_(2)O mole fractions measured from discrete air samples from 2001 to 2018 at ***(WLG)station(36°17′N,100°54′E,3816 m asl)in China,which is a global background station of the World Meteorological Organization/Global Atmosphere Watch Programme(WMO/GAW)in central *** N_(2)O characteristics of annual means,interannual variability,and seasonal cycles were *** results show that N_(2)O at WLG possess a distinct increasing trend and a statistically significant seasonal cycle,with an average growth rate of 0.9±0.01 ppb yr^(−1)(1σ)(1ppb=10^(−9)),which is close to the global *** detrended seasonal cycle shows a trough of−0.25±0.04(1σ)ppb in June and a peak of 0.13±0.07(1σ)ppb in September,with an amplitude of 0.38 *** pattern is due to combined effects of variation in surface sources,vertical convection within the boundary layer and stratosphere to troposphere transportation(STE).The interannual variability in growth rate was partly driven by quasi-biennial oscillation(QBO)of tropical zonal wind through stratospheric transport into the *** to a cluster analysis of back trajectories and the corresponding average N_(2)O load,most air masses cover arid and semi-arid areas in inner Asia with low N_(2)O emissions,indicating that the atmospheric N_(2)O at the WLG represents the background N_(2)O level in central Eurasia.

Given the inherent potential of seawater,industrial wastewater,and residential water as inherent feedstocks for hydrogen production through water electrolysis,there is a critical demand for the exploration of robust and stable hydrogen-evolving catalysts that can operate effectively across a diverse range of pH ***,the pursuit of hydrogen-evolving electrocatalysts that demonstrate both good stability and high efficiency over a wide pH range remains a formidable *** we report the rational design and synthesis of an outstanding nanoporous hybrid electrocatalyst consisting of intermetallic cobalt-molybdenum alloy particles anchoring on MoO2 cuboid arrays,which demands very low overpotentials of 72,123 and 134 mV to deliver a current density of−100 mA·cm^(−2)for hydrogen evolution reaction under alkaline,neutral and acidic conditions,*** catalytic activities are superior to most non-precious-metal-based catalysts documented in the literatures,and are even comparable to noble metal *** particular,this alloy electrocatalyst exhibits excellent stability at 50 or 300 mA·cm^(−2)without obvious activity degradation,which is further supported by the undetectable changes in the surface chemical valence states on the basis of in-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic *** study provides an innovative strategy for the design and synthesis of effective non-noble intermetallic catalysts for pH-universal hydrogen evolution over a wide pH range.

Background:Disitamab vedotin(DV;RC48-ADC)is an antibody-drug conjugate comprising a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-directed antibody,linker and monomethyl auristatin *** studies have shown that DV demonstrated potent antitumor activity in preclinical models of breast,gastric,and ovarian cancers with different levels of HER2 *** this pooled analysis,we report the safety and efficacy of DV in patients with HER2-overexpression and HER2-low advanced breast cancer(ABC).Methods:In the phase I dose-escalation study(C001 CANCER),HER2-overexpression ABC patients received DV at doses of 0.5-2.5 mg/kg once every two weeks(Q2W)until unacceptable toxicity or progressive *** dose range,safety,and pharmacokinetics(PK)were *** phase Ib dose-range and expansion study(C003 CANCER)enrolled two cohorts:HER2-overexpression ABC patients receiving DV at doses of 1.5-2.5 mg/kg Q2W,with the recommended phase 2 dose(RP2D)determined,andHER2-lowABC patients receiving DV at doses of 2.0 mg/kg Q2W to explore the efficacy and safety of DV in HER2-low ***:Twenty-four patients with HER2-overexpression ABC in C001 CANCER,46 patients with HER2-overexpressionABCand 66 patients with HER2-low ABC in C003 CANCER were *** 2.0 mg/kg RP2D Q2W,the confirmed objective response rates were 42.9%(9/21;95%confidence interval[CI]:21.8%-66.0%)and 33.3%(22/66;95%CI:22.2%-46.0%),with median progression-free survival(PFS)of 5.7 months(95%CI:5.3-8.4 months)and 5.1 months(95%CI:4.1-6.6 months)for HER2-overexpression and HER2-low ABC,***(≥5%)grade 3 or higher treatment-emergent adverse events included neutrophil count decreased(17.6%),gamma-glutamyl transferase increased(13.2%),asthenia(11.0%),white blood cell count decreased(9.6%),peripheral neuropathy such as hypoesthesia(5.9%)and neurotoxicity(0.7%),and pain(5.9%).Conclusion:DV demonstrated promising efficacy in HER2-overexpression and HER2-low ABC,with a favorable safety profile at

Mechanical property and thermal shock behavior of tungsten-yttria-stabilized zirconia cermet fabricated by spark plasma sintering

The cermet fuels have been considered as a potential key component for the nuclear thermal propulsion,and the homogeneity of the fuel particles in the metal matrix plays a crucial role in stabilizing the structure at extremely high *** this work,liquid paraffin was used as additive to improve the distribution of yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ,an appropriate surrogate for UO_(2) fuel)microspheres in the tungsten(W)matrix,and the W-YSZ cermet wafers(volume ratio 1:1)with a relative density of 97.6%were fabricated by spark plasma sintering with a specifically designed *** effects of the paraffin dosage(0-5 wt.%)on the homogeneity,microstructure,mechanical properties,and the thermal conductivity of W-YSZ cermet were *** W-YSZ sample with 2 wt.%paraffin shows the highest homogeneity and exhibits the best comprehensive properties,including the ultimate tensile strength of 132.2 MPa at 600℃,the bending strength of455 MPa and thermal conductivity of 50 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)at room ***,the cermet could keep structurally sound after thermal shocked at a heat load of 20 MW·m^(-2).These results would be helpful for the design and optimization of the cermet fuels in the nuclear thermal propulsion.
