Combination of Dexmedetomidine and Butorphanol Optimized Sedation in Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy: A Randomized, Double-Blind Trial

Objective:Drug-induced sleep endoscopy(DISE)allows for the evaluation of dynamic airway collapse in patients with obstructive sleep ***,a standardized sedation regimen for DISE is not yet *** study aimed to investigate the safety profiles and efficacies of dexmedetomidine combined with butorphanol for ***:Sixty patients with obstructive sleep apnea scheduled to undergo DISE were randomly divided into Group D and Group *** recipients were initially given intravenous butorphanol(1 mg)(Group DB)or saline(Group D).Subsequently,both groups were sedated using a loading dose of 1.0 pg/kg/h of *** and respiratory parameters,the time to attain sufficient sedation,wakeup time,and adverse events during DISE were ***:Compared with Group D,the time until sufficient sedation and wakeup time in Group DB were significantly reduced.A higher performer satisfaction level was achieved in Group *** in Group DB showed a higher incidence of bradycardia compared with Group ***,the bradycardia resolved spontaneously in both groups without any *** was no instance of cough,hypotension,arrhythmia,nausea or vomiting in either ***:Compared to dexmedetomidine alone,a small dose of butorphanol infusion(1 mg)as an adjunct treatment to dexmedetomidine during DISE can reduce the dosage of dexmedetomidine,shorten the time until sufficient sedation and enhance the performer satisfaction *** synergistic combination could be a promising sedation regimen for DISE in terms of procedural convenience and patient safety.

Silicon-based metal-organic frameworks(SiMOFs)for immunogenic cell death in cancer therapy

Silicon-based nanomaterials,known for their unique properties and favorable biocompatibility,significantly impact sectors like energy,electronics,and ***,metalorganic frameworks(MOFs)have emerged as promising candidates for biomedicine,characterized by adjustable chemical composition,high porosity,and ***,the combination of silicon with MOFs to create silicon-based MOF nanostructures(SiMOFs)remains ***,we establish a diverse library of SiMOFs with various nanostructures,including flower-like,capsule-like,hexagonal snowflake-like,and necklace-like morphologies via microwave-assisted *** SiMOFs,with their spacious interiors,are ideal for drug *** are used to load drugs and create drug-loaded SiMOFs(e.g.,SiFeO).SiFeO exhibits excellent photothermal effects and high reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation capacity,enabling synergistic treatments involving chemochemodynamic-photothermal *** approach efficiently triggers immunogenic cell death(ICD)and demonstrates excellent antitumor efficacy in *** staining reveals that the synergistic therapy can modulate the tumor microenvironment(TME)by reducing M2-phenotype macrophages,increasing the activation of antigen-presenting cells(APCs),enhancing the infiltration of CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)T cells,elevating Granzyme B production,and decreasing the presence of immunosuppressive regulatory T cells(Tregs).Consequently,drug-loaded SiMOFs-mediated combination therapy effectively reverses the immunosuppressive TME and activates robust antitumor immune responses by inducing ICD in tumor cells,ultimately achieving superior anticancer efficacy.

An efficient Approach to Modify the Catalyst Activity for the Hydrogenation of Nitrobenzene

The addition of a suitable amount of PPh3 to PdCl2 or PdCl2(PhCN)(2) in situ can considerably increase the catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene, while the catalytic activities of PdCl2 (reduced)+PPh3, PdCl2(PPh3)(2) and Pd(PPh3)(4) are very poor. The poisoning of catalyst by mercury indicates that the catalytically active species are composed of Pd(0) colloidal particles. Transmission electron micrographs show that the size of nanometric Pd(0) particles of PdCl2 with PPh3 added in situ is smaller than that of PhCl2(PPh3) or PdCl2 (reduced)+PPh3. A synergic effect of bimetallic catalysts such as PdCl2+nPPh(3)+NiCl2 (n= 0.5, 1) and PdCl2(PhCN)(2)+PPh3+FeCl3 gives rise to a further increase in the catalytic activity.

Fish oil-containing lipid emulsions prevention on parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis in very low birth weight infants:a meta-analysis

Background The effect of fish oil-containing lipid emulsions on preventing parenteral nutrition-associated cholestasis(PNAC)in very low birth weight(VLBW)infants is not ***,we conducted a meta-analysis to identify any preven-tion *** PubMed,EMBASE,and CENTRAL were searched up to 26 January 2021 for studies related to the preventive effect of fish oil-containing lipid emulsions and fish oil-free lipid emulsions on cholestasis in VLBW *** 5.3 was used to synthesize the results.A fixed-effect model was used to summarize the data when the heterogeneity was non-significant(I250%).Results Of 728 articles,11 randomized controlled trials met the inclusion *** meta-analysis indicated that fish oil-containing lipid emulsion reduced the occurrence of PNAC significantly with risk ratio(RR)=0.53,95%confidence interval(CI)0.36-0.80,P=*** heterogeneity was non-significant with I2=23%.Subgroup analysis based on par-enteral nutrition duration and median birth weight was *** synthesis results for patients with parenteral nutri-tion duration exceeding 14 days revealed I2=35%(P=0.15)and pooled RR=0.47,95%CI 0.30-0.73,P=0.0008;and for patients with duration less than 14 days revealed I2=0%(P=0.72)and pooled RR=1.14,95%CI 0.39-3.35,P=*** synthesis for patients with birth weight more than 1000 g revealed I2=0%(P=0.41)and pooled RR=0.55,95%CI 0.26-1.18,P=0.12;and for patients with birth weight below 1000 g revealed I2=44%(P=0.11)and pooled RR=0.53,95%CI 0.33-0.85,P=*** The fish oil-containing lipid emulsion can reduce the occurrence of PNAC in VLBW infants based on the avail-able original randomized controlled trial studies,especially for patients with parenteral nutrition duration exceeding 14 days and extremely low birth weight *** studies should be performed before a definitive conclusion can be established.

Effects of combination of plant and microorganism on degradation of simazine in soil

The degradative characteristics of simazine （SIM）, microbial biomass carbon, plate counts of heterotrophic bacteria and most probably number （MPN） of SIM degraders in uninoculated non-rhizosphere soil, uninoculated rhizosphere soil, inoculated non- rhizosphere soil, and inoculated rhizosphere soil were measured. At the initial concentration of 20 mg SIM/kg soil, the half-lives of SIM in the four treated soils were measured to be 73.0, 52.9, 16.9, and 7.8 d, respectively, and corresponding kinetic data fitted first-order kinetics. The experimental results indicated that higher degradation rates of SIM were observed in rhizosphere soils, especially in inoculated rhizosphere soil. The degradative characteristics of SIM were closely related to microbial process. Vegetation could enhance the magnitude of rhizosphere microbial communities, microbial biomass content, and heterotrophic bacterial community, but did little to influence those community components responsible for SIM degradation. This suggested that rhizosphere soil inoculated with microorganisms-degrading target herbicides was a useful pathway to achieve rapid degradation of the herbicides in soil.

Increased Maleness at Flowering Stage and Femaleness at Fruiting Stage with Size in an Andromonoecious Perennial, Veratrum nigrum

Theory predicts that cosexual plants should adjust their resource investment in male and female functions according to their size if female and male fitness are differentially affected by size. However, few empirical studies have been carried out at both the flowering and fruiting stages to adequately address size-dependent sex allocation in cosexual plants. In this paper, we investigated resource investment between female and male reproduction, and their size-dependence in a perennial andromonoecious herb, Veratrum nigrum L. We sampled 192 flowering plants, estimated their standardized phenotypic gender, and assessed the resource investment in male and female functions in terms of absolute dry biomass. At the flowering stage, male investment increased with plant size more rapidly than female investment, and the standardized phenotypic femaleness （ranging from 0.267 to 0.776） was negatively correlated with plant size. By contrast, female biased allocation was found at the fruiting stage, although both flower biomass and fruit biomass were positively correlated with plant size. We propose that increased maleness with plant size at the flowering stage may represent an adaptive strategy for andromonoecious plants, because male flowers promote both male and female fertility by increasing pollinator attraction without aggravating pollen discounting.

Synthesis of Mesoporous Cu-Mn-Al_2O_3 Materials and Their Applications to Preferential Catalytic Oxidation of CO in a Hydrogen-rich Stream

A series of mesoporous Cu-Mn-Al2O3（CMA） materials was synthesized at moderate temperature and their structures were characterized by XRD, N2 physical adsorption and TPR techniques. It was found that using metal complex ion[Cu（NH3） 4^2＋-Mn（NH3）6^2＋] as raw materials is easier to form good-structure mesoporous Cu-Mn-Al2O3 materials than using its nitrate salt [Cu（NO3）2-Mn（NO3）2]. The TPR tests results indicate that CuO and MnOx were homogeneously dispersed in the mesoporous materials. Their catalytic application to preferential catalytic oxidation of CO in a hydrogen-rich stream was studied. The activity varies in the order of CMA（1：1, molar ratio）〉 CMA（1：2）〉CMA（2：1）〉CMA（CP）〉CMA（1：0）≈CMA（0：1）. The CMA（1：0） and CMA（0：1） have lower activity compared to other samples, implying that there existed coordination effect between Cu-Mn in the samples. The selectivity varied in the order of CMA（0：1）≥CMA（1：2）〉CMA（1：1）〉CMA（2：1）〉CMA（1：0） at higher temperature （≥ 120 ℃）, indicating that increasing the Cu content enhanced the conversion of H2. The sample CMA（CP） made by coprecipitation method has a lower CO oxidation activity and selectivity than its counter-parts of mesoporous Cu-Mn-Al2O3 materials[CMA（1：2）], this attributed to the lower surface area of the former and poor interaction of CuO with MnOx.
