Persistent organic pollutants in global surface soils:Distributions and fractionations

The distribution and fractionation of persistent organic pollutants(POPs)in different matrices refer to how these pollutants are dispersed and separated within various environmental *** is a significant study area as it helps us understand the transport efficiencies and long-range transport potentials of POPs to enter remote areas,particularly polar *** study provides a comprehensive review of the progress in understanding the distribution and fractionation of *** focus on the contributions of four intermedia processes(dry and wet depositions for gaseous and particulate POPs)and determine their transfer between air and *** processes are controlled by their partitioning between gaseous and particulate phases in the *** distribution patterns and fractionations can be categorized into primary and secondary *** are developed to quantificationally study the primary and secondary distributions and fractionations of *** analysis results suggest that the transfer of low molecular weight(LMW)POPs from air to soil is mainly through gas diffusion and particle deposition,whereas high molecular weight(HMW)POPs are mainly via particle ***-POPs tend to be trapped near the source,whereas LMW-POPs are more prone to undergo long-range atmospheric *** crucial distinction elucidates the primary reason behind their temperatureindependent primary ***,the secondary distribution and fractionation can only be observed along a temperature gradient,such as latitudinal or altitudinal *** animation is produced by a one-dimensional transport model to simulate conceptively the transport of CB-28 and CB-180,revealing the similarities and differences between the primary and secondary distributions and *** suggest that the decreasing temperature trend along latitudes is not the major reason for POPs to be fractionated into the polar ecosystems,but drives the longer-term accumu

The historical annual loading to,removal from,and cumulative burden in the Arctic Ocean for β-hexachlorocyclohexane(β-HCH),an isomer comprising 5e12%of technical HCH,is investigated using a mass balance box model from 1945 to *** the 76 years,loading occurred predominantly through ocean currents and river inflow(83%)and only a small portion via atmospheric transport(16%).β-HCH started to accumulate in the Arctic Ocean in the late 1940s,reached a peak of 810 t in 1986,and decreased to 87 t in 2020,when its concentrations in the Arctic water and air were~30 ng m^(-3)and~0.02 pg m^(-3),*** though β-HCH and α-HCH(60e70%of technical HCH)are both the isomers of HCHs with almost identical temporal and spatial emission patterns,these two chemicals have shown different major pathways entering the *** from α-HCH with the long-range atmospheric transport(LRAT)as its major transport pathway,β-HCH reached the Arctic mainly through long-range oceanic transport(LROT).The much higher tendency of β-HCH to partition into the water,mainly due to its much lower Henry's Law Constant than α-HCH,produced an exceptionally strong pathway divergence with β-HCH favoring slow transport in water and α-HCH favoring rapid transport in *** concentration and burden of β-HCH in the Arctic Ocean are also predicted for the year 2050 when only 4.4-5.3 t will remain in the Arctic Ocean under the influence of climate change.

The hazards of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)on occupationally exposed population have been widely ***,the occupational exposure risks associated their derivatives,methylated PAHs,remain poorly *** study conducted a screen of 126 PAHs and 6 oxidative stress biomarkers(OSBs)in paired serum−urine samples from 110 petrochemical workers to assess the risk associated with different PAHs *** results showed that the median concentrations of unmetabolized 16 priority PAHs(p-PAHs),16 regular PAHs(R-PAHs),50 methyl-PAHs(Me-PAHs),and 30 nitro-PAHs(N-PAHs)in serum(urine)were 97.98(66.46),11.02(0.00),77.76(31.77),and 1.93(0.10)ng/mL,*** median concentration of metabolized hydroxy PAHs(OH-PAHs)in urine was 12.00 ng/mL(9.49 ng/mg creatinine).OSBs indicate that the hazards of Me-PAHs on exposed populations manifest as protein damage,while the hazards of p-PAHs mainly result in lipid and DNA *** from common diseases and PAH exposure demonstrate a correlation between liver damage and PAH exposure,and Me-PAHs are more difficult to metabolize through urine due to their stronger *** study suggests that traditional health screenings targeting p-PAHs may be insufficient and likely underestimate the exposure risks for occupational populations.

Prolonged SARS-CoV-2 Viral Shedding in Patients with COVID-19 was Associated with Delayed Initiation of Arbidol Treatment and Consulting Doctor Later: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Objective:To study data about SARS-CoV-2 virus shedding and clarify the risk factors for prolonged virus ***:Data were retrospectively collected from adults hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19)in Wuhan Union *** compared clinical features among patients with prolonged(a positive SARS-CoV-2 RNA on day 23 after illness onset)and short virus shedding and evaluated risk factors associated with prolonged virus shedding by multivariate regression ***:Among 238 patients,the median age was 55.5 years,57.1%were female,92.9%(221/238)were administered with arbidol,58.4%(139/238)were given arbidol in combination with *** median duration of SARS-CoV-2 virus shedding was 23 days(IQR,17.8-30 days)with a longest one of 51 *** patients with prolonged virus shedding had higher value of D-dimer(P=0.002),IL-6(P<0.001),CRP(P=0.005)and more lobes lung lesion(P=0.014)on admission,as well as older age(P=0.017)and more patients with hypertension(P=0.044)than in those the virus shedding less than 23 *** regression analysis revealed that prolonged viral shedding was significantly associated with initiation arbidol≥8 days after symptom onset[OR:2.447,95%CI(1.351-4.431)],≥3 days from onset of symptoms to first medical visitation[OR:1.880,95%CI(1.035-3.416)],illness onset before Jan.31,2020[OR:3.289,95%CI(1.474-7.337)].Arbidol in combination with interferon was also significantly associated with shorter virus shedding[OR:0.363,95%CI(0.191-0.690)].Conclusion:Duration of SARS-CoV-2 virus shedding was *** initiation of arbidol and arbidol in combination with interferon as well as consulting doctor timely after illness onset were helpful for SARS-CoV-2 clearance.

Local magnetic moment oscillation around an Anderson impurity on graphene

We theoretically investigate the spin resolved Friedel oscillation （FO） and quasiparticle interference （QPI） in graphene induced by an Anderson *** the impurity becomes magnetic,the resulted FO becomes spin dependent,which gives rise to a local magnetic moment oscillation with an envelop decaying as r-2in real space in the doping ***,at half filling,the electron density and local magnetic moment will not oscillate but decay as *** spin resolved FO has both sublattice and spin ***,the local magnetic moment decay at half filling only occurs at one sublattice of graphene,which is quite like the phenomenon observed in the STM experiment (***ález-Herrero et al.,Science 352,437 （2016）).We further give an analytic formula about such spin dependent FO based on the stationary phase ***,we study the interference of quasiparticles around the magnetic impurity by calculating the spin dependent Fourier-transformed local density of states （FT-LDOS）.Our work gives a comprehensive understanding about the local magnetic moment oscillation around an Anderson impurity on graphene.

Gas quenching and vacuum quenching process are widely applied to accelerate solvent volatilization to induce nucleation of perovskites in blade-coating *** this work,we found these two pre-crystallization processes lead to different order of crystallization dynamics within the perovskite thin film,resulting in the differences of additive *** then tailor-designed an additive molecule named 1,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)thiourea to obtain films with fewer defects and holes at the buried interface,and prepared perovskite solar cells with a certified efficiency of 23.75%.Furthermore,this work also demonstrates an efficiency of 20.18%for the large-area perovskite solar module(PSM)with an aperture area of 60.84 cm^(2).The PSM possesses remarkable continuous operation stability for maximum power point tracking of T_(90)>1000 h in ambient air.

It has been shown clinically that continuous removal of ischemia/reperfusion-induced reactive oxygen species is not conducive to the recovery of late ***,previous studies have shown that excessive increases in hypochlorous acid after stroke can cause severe damage to brain *** previous studies have found that a small amount of hypochlorous acid still exists in the later stage of stroke,but its specific role and mechanism are currently *** simulate stroke in vivo,a middle cerebral artery occlusion rat model was established,with an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model established in vitro to mimic *** found that in the early stage(within 24 hours)of ischemic stroke,neutrophils produced a large amount of hypochlorous acid,while in the recovery phase(10 days after stroke),microglia were activated and produced a small amount of hypochlorous ***,in acute stroke in rats,hypochlorous acid production was prevented using a hypochlorous acid scavenger,taurine,or myeloperoxidase inhibitor,4-aminobenzoic acid *** results showed that high levels of hypochlorous acid(200μM)induced neuronal apoptosis after oxygen/glucose deprivation/***,in the recovery phase of the middle cerebral artery occlusion model,a moderate level of hypochlorous acid promoted the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells into neurons and *** suggests that hypochlorous acid plays different roles at different phases of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** levels of hypochlorous acid(5 and 100μM)promoted nuclear translocation ofβ-*** transfection of single-site mutation plasmids,we found that hypochlorous acid induced chlorination of theβ-catenin tyrosine 30 residue,which promoted nuclear ***,our study indicates that maintaining low levels of hypochlorous acid plays a key role in the recovery of neurological function.

Hypidone hydrochloride(YL-0919)ameliorates functional deficits after traumatic brain injury in mice by activating the sigma-1 receptor for antioxidation

Traumatic brain injury involves complex pathophysiological mechanisms,among which oxidative stress significantly contributes to the occurrence of secondary *** this study,we evaluated hypidone hydrochloride(YL-0919),a self-developed antidepressant with selective sigma-1 receptor agonist properties,and its associated mechanisms and targets in traumatic brain *** experiments to assess functional deficits were followed by assessment of neuronal damage through histological analyses and examination of blood-brain barrier permeability and brain ***,we investigated the antioxidative effects of YL-0919 by assessing the levels of traditional markers of oxidative stress in vivo in mice and in vitro in HT22 ***,the targeted action of YL-0919 was verified by employing a sigma-1 receptor antagonist(BD-1047).Our findings demonstrated that YL-0919 markedly improved deficits in motor function and spatial cognition on day 3 post traumatic brain injury,while also decreasing neuronal mortality and reversing blood-brain barrier disruption and brain ***,YL-0919 effectively combated oxidative stress both in vivo and in *** protective effects of YL-0919 were partially inhibited by *** results indicated that YL-0919 relieved impairments in motor and spatial cognition by restraining oxidative stress,a neuroprotective effect that was partially reversed by the sigma-1 receptor antagonist ***-0919 may have potential as a new treatment for traumatic brain injury.

The Citron homology domain of maP4Ks improves outcomes of traumatic brain injury
