BACKGROUND Growth differentiation factor 15(GDF-15)has been explored as a potential biomarker for various inflammatory diseases and cardiovascular *** study aimed to assess the predictive role of GDF-15 levels in cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality,considering traditional risk factors and other *** A prospective study was conducted and 3699 patients with stable coronary artery disease(CAD)were enrolled into the *** GDF-15 levels were *** follow-up was 3.1 years during the *** analyzed clinical variables and several *** Cox regression analysis was performed to evaluate prognostic performance of GDF-15 levels in predicting myocardial infarction(MI),heart failure,stroke,cardiovascular death,and non-cardiovascular *** Baseline GDF-15 levels for 3699 patients were grouped by quartile(≤1153,1153-1888,1888-3043,>3043 ng/L).Higher GDF-15 levels were associated with older age,male gender,history of hypertension,and elevated levels of N-terminal pro Btype natriuretic peptide(NT-pro BNP),soluble suppression of tumorigenesis-2(sST2),and creatine(each with P<0.001).Adjusting for established risk factors and biomarkers in Cox proportional hazards models,a 1 standard deviation(SD)increase in GDF-15 was associated with elevated risk of clinical events[hazard ratio(HR)=2.18,95%confidence interval(CI):(1.52-3.11)],including:MI[HR=2.8395%CI:(1.03-7.74)],heart failure[HR=2.7195%CI:(1.18-6.23)],cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular death[HR=2.48,95%CI(1.49-4.11)]during the median follow up of 3.1 *** Higher levels of GDF-15 consistently provides prognostic information for cardiovascular events and all cause death,independent of clinical risk factors and other ***-15 could be considered as a valuable addition to future risk prediction model in secondary prevention for predicting clinical events in patient with stable CAD.

Single-atom catalysts(SACs)with high catalytic activity as well as great stability are demonstrating great promotion in electrocatalytic energy conversion,which is also a big challenge to ***,we proposed a facile synthetic strategy to construct nickel-iron bimetallic hydroxide nanoribbon stabilized single-atom iridium catalysts(Ir-NiFe-OH),where the nickel-iron hydroxide nanoribbon not only can serve as good electronic conductor,but also can well stabilize and fully expose single-atom *** as catalyst for urea oxidation reaction(UOR),it exhibited excellent UOR performance that it only needed a low operated potential of 1.38 V to achieve the current density of 100 mA·cm^(-2).In-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray absorption spectrum,and density functional theory calculations proved that Ir species are active centers and the existence of both Ni and Fe in the local structure of Ir atom can optimize the d-band center of Ir species,promoting the adsorption of intermediates and desorption of products for *** hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)/UOR electrocatalytic cell demanded voltages of 1.46 and 1.50 V to achieve 50 and 100 mA·cm^(-2),respectively,which demonstrated a higher activity and better stability than those of conventional *** work opens a new avenue to develop catalysts for UORs with boosted activity and stability.

Effect of bubble morphology and behavior on power consumption in non-Newtonian fluids’aeration process

Due to a prolonged operation time and low mass transfer efficiency, the primary challenge in the aeration process of non-Newtonian fluids is the high energy consumption, which is closely related to the form and rate of impeller, ventilation, rheological properties and bubble morphology in the reactor. In this perspective, through optimal computational fluid dynamics models and experiments, the relationship between power consumption, volumetric mass transfer rate(kLa) and initial bubble size(d0) was constructed to establish an efficient operation mode for the aeration process of non-Newtonian fluids. It was found that reducing the d0could significantly increase the oxygen mass transfer rate, resulting in an obvious decrease in the ventilation volume and impeller speed. When d0was regulated within 2-5 mm,an optimal kLa could be achieved, and 21% of power consumption could be saved, compared to the case of bubbles with a diameter of 10 mm.

Adverse effect of niobium and boron on hot deformation behavior of sulfur-containing steel

The hot deformation behaviors of sulfur-containing gear steel 20MnCr5 containing three different contents of Nb and B(0,0.021%Nb,and 0.024%Nb-0.0022%B)were *** compression and tenssion tests were carried out by Gleeble3800 at the austenite region from 850 to 1150℃and the adverse effects of Nb and B were analyzed by the fracture,microstructure and precipitate *** compression tests showed that the proportions of instable area in hot processing maps of 0.021%Nb and Nb-B steels were higher and the deformability of Nb free steel was *** tensile deformation experiments showed that the reduction areas of Nb free,0.021%Nb and Nb-B steels were 92%-99%,84%-98%and 67%-97%,*** addition of Nb or Nb and B inhibited the dynamic recrystallization during hot deformation,and consequently,more deformed grains were then formed in 0.021%Nb and Nb-B steels thus to obtain the microstructure with worse uniformity and then deteriorate the *** addition,the interaction between inclusions and microalloyed elements was also *** particles of 0.021%Nb and Nb-B steels dynamically precipitated during deformation and precipitated together with MnS thus to worsen the deformability,resulting in the decrease of reduction area.

Study of the pressure transient behavior of directional wells considering the effect of non-uniform flux distribution

During the production,the fluid in the vicinity of the directional well enters the wellbore with different rates,leading to non-uniform flux distribution along the directional ***,in all existing studies,it is oversimplified to a uniform flux distribution,which can result in inaccurate results for field ***,this paper proposes a semi-analytical model of a directional well based on the assumption of non-uniform flux ***,the direction well is discretized into a carefully chosen series of linear sources,such that the complex well trajectory can be captured and the nonuniform flux distribution along the wellbore can be considered to model the three-dimensional flow *** using the finite difference method,we can obtain the numerical solutions of the transient flow within the *** the aid of Green's function method,we can obtain the analytical solutions of the transient flow from the matrix to the *** complete flow behavior of a directional well is perfectly represented by coupling the above two types of transient ***,on the basis of the proposed model,we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the pressure transient behavior of a directional *** computation results show that the flux variation along the direction well has a significant effect on pressure *** addition,the directional well in an infinite reservoir may exhibit the following flow regimes:wellbore afterflow,transition flow,inclined radial flow,elliptical flow,horizontal linear flow,and horizontal radial *** horizontal linear flow can be observed only if the formation thickness is much smaller than the well ***,a dip region that appears on the pressure derivative curve indicates the three-dimensional flow behavior near the wellbore.

In engineering application,there is only one adaptive weights estimated by most of traditional early warning radars for adaptive interference suppression in a pulse reputation interval(PRI).Therefore,if the training samples used to calculate the weight vector does not contain the jamming,then the jamming cannot be removed by adaptive spatial *** the weight vector is constantly updated in the range dimension,the training data may contain target echo signals,resulting in signal cancellation *** cope with the situation that the training samples are contaminated by target signal,an iterative training sample selection method based on non-homogeneous detector(NHD)is proposed in this paper for updating the weight vector in entire range *** principle is presented,and the validity is proven by simulation results.

Investigation of Maxima Assumptions in Modelling Tropical Cyclone- Induced Hazards in the South China Sea

The present study aims to examine the suitability of two commonly used assumptions that simplify modelling metoceanconditions for designing offshore wind turbines in the South China Sea (SCS). The first assumption assumes thatjoint N-year extreme wind and wave events can be independently estimated and subsequently combined. The secondone assumes peak wind and waves can be modelled as occurring simultaneously during a tropical cyclone (TC) *** better understand the potential TC activity, a set of 10000 years synthetic TC events are generated. The wind fieldmodel and the Mike 21 spectral wave model are employed to model the TC-induced hazards. Subsequently, theeffect of the assumptions is evaluated by analyzing the peak structural response of both monopile and semisubmersibleoffshore wind turbines during TC events. The results demonstrate that the examined assumptions are generally *** assessing the implications of these assumptions, valuable insights are obtained, which can inform andimprove the modelling of TC-induced hazards in the SCS region.

Construction of RuO2-Ru/MoO2@carbon cloth bifunctional electrocatalyst for efficient overall water splitting

Efficient bifunction electrocatalyst is extremely interesting for electrochemical overall water splitting （OWS）.Herein,a new RuO2-Ru/MoO2@CC（RRM/CC） bifunctional electrocatalyst was prepared via a solid phase reaction *** obtain a suitable precursor for SPR,MoS2nanosheets and RuO2nanoparticles （NPs）were sequentially loaded onto carbon cloth conductive ***,the prepared RuO2/MoS2/CC precursor was sealed in a furnace and annealed in Ar to trigger the redox *** SPR,active RuO2-Ru/MoO2units containing metal–metal oxide interfaces were formed on CC substrate *** optimized RRM/CC sample annealed at 400℃ exhibited a overpotential of 13 m V for hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） and 231 mV for oxygen evolution reaction （OER） at 10 mA·cm-2under alkaline condition,respectively,which can be deduced to the modulated electronic structure and unique hierarchica *** addition,a low cell voltage of 1.48 V for OWS was required at 10 mA·cm-2under alkaline condition Meanwhile,RRM/CC exhibited excellent pH-independent durability.

Performance evaluation of HY-2 series satellites in marine gravity field recovery

China has successfully launched four Haiyang-2(HY-2)series altimetry ***-2A has attracted significant attention in gravity field recovery,but the performance of other HY-2 series satellites,including HY-2B/C/D,is seldom *** study evaluated the performance of all the HY-2 series satellites in recovering marine gravity ***,the crossover discrepancies in sea surface height of the four satellites,HY-2A,HY-2B,HY-2C,and HY-2D,were analyzed to assess their altimetry *** was found that HY-2B had the best altimetry quality,followed by ***,different combina-tions of altimetry data were used to calculate vertical deflections and gravity anomalies in the South China Sea(112°E-119°E,12°N-20°N).The results showed that combining data from HY-2B,HY-2C,and HY-2D improved the inversion accuracy of gravity anomalies by 0.3 mGal compared to using HY-2A data ***-2C and HY-2D contributed to enhancing the accuracy of the east component of vertical deflections.

Polystyrene microplastics disrupted physical barriers, microbiota composition and immune responses in the cecum of developmental Japanese quails

Microplastics,a new type of emerging pollutant,is ubiquitous in terrestrial and water *** have become a growing concern due to their impacts on the environment,animal,and human *** also suffer from microplastics *** this study,we examined the toxic effects of polystyrene microplastics(PS-MPs)exposure on physical barrier,microbial community,and immune function in the cecum of a model bird species—Japanese quail(Coturnix japonica).The one-week-old birds were fed on environmentally relevant concentrations of 20μg/kg,400μg/kg,and 8 mg/kg PS-MPs in the diet for 5 *** results showed that microplastics could cause microstructural damages characterized by lamina propria damage and epithelial cell vacuolation and ultrastructural injuries including microvilli breakage and disarrangement aswell asmitochondrial vacuolation in the cecum of *** particular,blurry tight junctions,wider desmosomes spacing,and gene expression alteration indicated cecal tight junction ***,mucous layer breakdown andmucin decrease indicated that chemical barrier was disturbed by ***-MPs also changed cecal microbial *** addition,structural deformation of cecal tonsils and increasing proinflammatory cytokines suggested cecal immune disorder and inflammation responses by PS-MPs *** results suggested that microplastics negatively affected digestive system and might pose great health risks to terrestrial birds.
