Factors influencing stereoacuity levels after surgery to correct unilateral developmental cataracts in children

·AIM: To evaluate factors influencing stereoacuity after surgery to correct unilateral developmental pediatric cataracts. ·METHODS: We retrospectively surveyed 110 patients who had undergone removal of unilateral acquired developmental cataracts and primary posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation between February 1992 and December 2009. In all patients, stereoacuity was assessed using the Titmus test at the last follow -up period of minimum 2 years after surgery. Patients were divided into two groups according to the extent of stereoacuity : group 1 ( = 42 ) had stereoacuity values ≤ 100sec/arc and group 2 ( =68) values >100sec/arc. The values of ten parameters associated with stereoacuity were measured in each group: Cataract types, preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of the affected eyes, preoperative inter -ocular difference of BCVA, age at cataract surgery, operative method, secondary cataract, postoperative strabismus, postoperative BCVA of the affected eyes, postoperative inter-ocular difference of BCVA, and anisometropia. ·RESULTS: The extent of stereoacuity was significantly associated with both operative method and secondary cataract ( =0.000 and =0.016, respectively). All patients in whom the posterior capsule was preserved, had poor stereoacuity >100sec/arc. Significant correlations with the extent of stereoacuity were found with postoperative strabismus ( =0.048),postoperative BCVA of the affected eyes ( =0.002), anisometropia ( =0.034). ·CONCLUSION: Postoperative stereoacuity was better in patients who underwent either optic capture or anterior vitrectomy after posterior continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis, and who didn’t develop secondary cataracts or strabismus postoperatively. Furthermore, postoperative BCVA of the affected eyes, and anisometropia influenced the stereoacuity of the patients surgically treated for unilateral developmental pediatric cataracts. ·

The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of the planting distance and depth on the power take-off(PTO)load spectrum of a small riding-type transplanter for the optimal design of the *** measure load data during actual planting operation,a load measurement system was developed using a torque sensor,a data acquisition system,and an *** experiments were conducted at four planting distances(26 cm,35 cm,43 cm,and 80 cm)and three planting depths(85 mm,105 mm,and 136 mm)in a field with similar soil *** measured load data were inverted into a load spectrum using rain-flow counting and Smith-Watson-Topper(SWT)*** safety factor of a transplanter according to the planting conditions was analyzed using the converted load spectrum and commercial *** load spectrum for all planting conditions showed torque ratios similar within a high cycle region of 108 to *** torque ratio increased when the planting depth increased and planting distance decreased in the low cycle region under less than 108 *** safety factors of the PTO driving gear and the driven gear increased as the planting distance increased at all planting *** the planting depth decreased at the same planting distance,the safety factor of the PTO gears *** results of this study might provide useful information for a transplanter PTO design considering the working load according to the various planting conditions.

Boosted Lithium-Ion Transport Kinetics in n-Type Siloxene Anodes Enabled by Selective Nucleophilic Substitution of Phosphorus

Doped two-dimensional(2D)materials hold significant promise for advancing many technologies,such as microelectronics,optoelectronics,and energy ***,n-type 2D oxidized Si nanosheets,namely n-type siloxene(n-SX),are employed as Li-ion battery *** thermal evaporation of sodium hypophosphite at 275℃,P atoms are effectively incorporated into siloxene(SX)without compromising its 2D layered morphology and unique Kautsky-type crystal ***,selective nucleophilic substitution occurs,with only Si atoms being replaced by P atoms in the O_(3)≡Si-H *** resulting n-SX possesses two delocalized electrons arising from the presence of two electron donor types:(i)P atoms residing in Si sites and(ii)H *** doping concentrations are varied by controlling the amount of precursors or their mean free *** at 2000 mA g^(-1),the n-SX electrode with the optimized doping concentration(6.7×10^(19) atoms cm^(-3))delivers a capacity of 594 mAh g^(-1) with a 73%capacity retention after 500 *** improvements originate from the enhanced kinetics of charge transport processes,including electronic conduction,charge transfer,and solid-state *** approach proposed herein offers an unprecedented route for engineering SX anodes to boost Li-ion storage.
