BACKGROUND Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma is a distinct subtype of non-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma that mostly involves the gastrointestinal *** stomach is the most commonly affected site whereas colorectal involvement occurs very *** its rarity,the management and clinical outcome of colorectal MALT lymphoma are not well established *** SUMMARY From the superficial capillary bed in the lower *** ultrasonography showed homogenous hypoechoic lesions in the deep mucosal *** submucosal dissection(ESD)was done for accurate histologic diagnosis and treatment and both the rectal lesions were completely removed en bloc and subsequently diagnosed as primary rectal MALT ***,we report a case of primary rectal MALT lymphoma in a 68-year-old woman that was treated by only ESD,and the 12-month follow-up revealed no tumour *** These results of our case and previous reports suggest that endoscopic resection alone may be a feasible and safe treatment for primary colorectal MALT lymphoma and allows organ preservation.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) is a highly refined technique compared to conventional endoscopic mucosal *** enables complete resection of early gastric cancer(EGC) which has no possibility of lymph node *** for ESD of EGC generally entails early gastric cancer confined to the mucosa with well differentiated histology,though there are clinically suitable expanded *** ESD requires specific skill and expertise,endoscopists need to be familiarized with basic methods and the use of special *** essence of the technique is to dissect the submucosal layer with direct vision and maintain thecutting plane above the underlying proper muscle *** there are some differences in the detailed technical aspect,the cardinal method of ESD is now well established and ***,research and development of new ESD devices that render more efficient,safe ESD are still in progress to improve the overall result of ESD on early gastric cancer.

BACKGROUND For the treatment of gastritis,rebamipide,a mucoprotective agent,and nizatidine,a gastric acid suppressant,are commonly employed *** To compare the efficacy of Mucotra®SR(rebamipide 150 mg)and Axid®(nizatidine 150 mg)combination therapy with the sole administration of Axid®in managing erosive *** A total of 260 patients diagnosed with endoscopically confirmed erosive gastritis were enrolled in this open-label,multicenter,randomized,phase 4 clinical trial,allocating them into two groups:Rebamipide/nizatidine combination twice daily vs nizatidine twice daily for 2 *** full-analysis set analysis encompassed 239 patients(rebamipide/nizatidine,n=121;nizatidine,n=118),while the per-protocol analysis included 218 patients(n=110 vs 108).Post-treatment assessments comprised primary(erosion improvement rate)and secondary(erosion and edema cure rates,erythema improvement rates,hemorrhage,and gastrointestinal symptoms)***,drug-related adverse effects were *** Primary efficacy assessment showed a statistically significant improvement rate in mucosal erosions in the combination group compared to the control group in the full-analysis set(rebamipide/nizatidine 62.0%,nizatidine 49.2%,P=0.046),with a similar trend noted in the per-protocol analysis(62.7%vs 50.0%,P=0.058).Both groups were effective in curing erosion and edema and improvement of bleeding,erythema,and gastrointestinal symptoms,whereas no inter-group differences were *** confined to the participants with gastritis symptoms,improvement of erosion was more optimal in the combination group(63.0%vs 49.5%,P=0.046).No adverse events related to the drugs were *** Rebamipide/nizatidine combination is effective in treatment of erosive gastritis.

Although concerns about harvesting levels of the American Horseshoe Crab, Limulus polyphemus have prompted increased research into its ecology, current understanding of the species＇ foraging ecology is mostly limited to mid-Atlantic populations. This study elucidates the spatial and temporal pattern of Limulus foraging on an intertidal mudflat of a northern New Eng- land estuary. A novel survey method was used to monitor Limulus foraging activity without disturbing the sediment. A fixed 50 mx2 m transect was monitored with monthly surveys of the number of Limulus feeding pits from June to October 2009, May and June 2010. Snorkelling surveys were also carried out to observe individual behavior and examine the spatial scale of activity of individual animals. Results showed frequent and intensive use of the mudflat by foraging Limulus. Limulus were actively foraging within the survey area during all months surveyed. Foraging patterns exhibited a seasonal pattern with activity levels peaking in August 2009 and increased significantly towards the end of the study in June 2010. It was also shown that Limulus intertidal foraging persisted and peaked after the spring breeding season. Observations of foraging Limulus revealed that individual predators dig multiple pits within a single high tide, with little disturbance to the sediment in between. In addition to altering the perception of Limulus as a subtidal predator outside of the breeding season, findings from this study suggests a segregation of spawning and feeding habitats, thus underscoring the need to consider a wider range of critical habitats in the management of Limulus populations

The effects of genetic and environmental factors on Pinus koraiensis growth were studied based on a35 year-old progeny trial composed of open-pollinated offspring of twenty-one plus ***,DBH and volume of the offspring was analyzed using restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction in mixed model *** site and family effects on the three traits were *** distinct growth of offspring by site with disparate climates corroborated the importance of planting species in suitable *** differences by family was significant,emphasizing the importance of identifying families with either superior or inferior *** parental ranking was assigned in the sites,inferring the breeding value of each plus *** estimates of individual heritability(h_(i)^(2))of height,DBH and volume growth were 0.169-0.645,0.108-0.331 and 0.129-0.343 respectively,with higher h_(i)^(2) of the height than DBH on each *** of variance of genetic effect was higher with DBH in some cases,indicating the scope for selection is larger for this trait despite the lower heritability compared to *** the variation between families in terms of the performance stability across sites,consideration of the genotype by environment interaction is required in selecting materials to be used in reforestation with Korean pine.A few families with either superior or inferior performance retained their parental ranking for at least a *** families with increased growth on a particular site were identified,indicating their high breeding value and low *** in the genetic performance of the families by site requires delineation of the breeding region of the species.

In this work, a novel voice activity detection （VAD） algorithm that uses speech absence probability （SAP） based on Teager energy （TE） was proposed for speech enhancement. The proposed method employs local SAP （LSAP） based on the TE of noisy speech as a feature parameter for voice activity detection （VAD） in each frequency subband, rather than conventional LSAP. Results show that the TE operator can enhance the abiTity to discriminate speech and noise and further suppress noise components. Therefore, TE-based LSAP provides a better representation of LSAP, resulting in improved VAD for estimating noise power in a speech enhancement algorithm. In addition, the presented method utilizes TE-based global SAP （GSAP） derived in each frame as the weighting parameter for modifying the adopted TE operator and improving its performance. The proposed algorithm was evaluated by objective and subjective quality tests under various environments, and was shown to produce better results than the conventional method.

AIM:To investigate the long-term outcomes of endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy(EUS-CDS) with a fully covered self-expandable metallic stent(FCSEMS).METHODS:From April 2009 to August 2010,15 patients with distal malignant biliary obstructions who were candidates for alternative techniques for biliary decompression due to a failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) were *** 15 patients consisted of 8 men and 7 women and had a median age of 61 years(range:30-91 years).The underlying causes of the distal malignant biliary obstruction were pancreatic cancer(n = 9),ampulla of Vater cancer(n = 2),renal cell carcinoma(n = 1),advanced gastric cancer(n = 1),lymphoma(n = 1),and duodenal cancer(n = 1).RESULTS:The technical success rate of EUS-CDS with an FCSEMS was 86.7%(13/15),and functional success was achieved in 100%(13/13) of those *** two patients,the EUS-CDS failed because an FCSEMS with a delivery device could not be passed into the common bile *** mean duration of stent patency was 264 *** adverse events developed in three patients(3/13,23.1%),including self-limited pneumoperitoneum in two patients and cholangitis requiring stent reposition in one *** the follow-up period(median:186 d,range:52-388 d),distal stent migration occurred in four patients(4/13,30.8%).In 3 patients,the FCSEMS could be reinserted through the existing choledochoduodenal fistula ***:EUS-CDS with an FCSEMS is technically feasible and can lead to effective palliation of distal malignant biliary obstructions after failed ERCP.
