Amorphous particle deposition and product quality under different conditions in a spray dryer

Deposition of amorphous particles, as a prevalent problem particularly in the spray drying of fruit and vegetable juices, is due to low-molecular-weight sugars and is strongly dependent on the condition of the particles upon collision with the dryer wall. This paper investigates the condition of the amorphous particles impacting the wall at different drying conditions with the aim of elucidating the deposition mechanism and physical phenomena in the drying chamber. A model sucrose-maltodextrin solution was used to represent the low-molecular-weight sugar. Particle deposits were collected on sampling plates placed inside the dryer for analyses of moisture content, particle rigidity (using SEM) and size distribution. Moisture content was adopted as a general indicator of stickiness. Product particles collected at the bottom of the experimental dryer were found to have higher moisture than particle deposits on samplers inside the dryer. Moisture content profile in the dryer shows that apart from the atomizer region, where particles are relatively wet, particle deposits at other regions exhibit similar lower moisture content. At the highest temperature adopted in the experiments, particles became rubbery suggesting liquid-bridge formation as the dominant deposition mechanism. Further analysis on particles size distribution reveals a particle segregation mechanism whereby smaller particles follow preferentially to the central air stream while larger particles tend to re-circulate in the chamber, as predicted in past CFD simulation. The findings from this work will form the basis and provide validating data for further modeling of wall deposition of amorphous particles in spray drying using CFD.

The oyster mushroom(Pleurotus spp.)is one of the most widely cultivated mushroom species *** present study investigated the effect of synbiotics on the growth and quality of Pleurotus ostreatus and Pleurotus *** synbiotics formulations were applied by spraying mushroom samples daily and measuring their growth parameters,yield,biological efficiency,proximate composition,mineral content,total phenolic content(TPC),and diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl(DPPH)radical scavenging *** demonstrated that the most significant yield of oyster mushrooms was harvested from synbiotics sprayed with inulin and Lactobacillus casei(56.92 g).Likewise,the highest biological efficiency obtained with a similar synbiotic was 12.65%.Combining inulin and *** was the most effective method of improving the mushrooms'growth performance and nutrient content in both ***,synbiotics that combined inulin and *** resulted in the highest TPC(20.550 mg gallic acid equivalent(GAE)/g dry extract(DE))in white oyster mushrooms(***).In comparison,in grey mushroom(***)the highest TPC was yielded by ***(1.098 mg GAE/g DE)followed by inulin and ***(1.079 mg GAE/g DE).The DPPH results indicated that the oyster mushroom could be an efficient *** results revealed that applying synbiotics improved the mushrooms'quality by increasing their antioxidant capacity with higher amounts of phenolic compounds and offering better health benefits with the increased levels of mineral ***,these studies demonstrated the potential of using synbiotics as a biofertilizer,which is helpful for mushroom cultivation;therefore,it might solve the challenge of inconsistent quality mushroom growers face.

Evaluation of Functional and Radiological Outcome of Arthroscopic-Assisted Anatomical Coracoclavicular (CC) and Acromioclavicular (AC) Ligament Reconstruction in Chronic AC Joint Dislocation

Introduction: Acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation is a common shoulder injury, comprising 9% - 12% of shoulder girdle injuries. Optimal management remains challenging, with treatment decisions guided by the Rockwood classification system. Controversies surround grade III injuries, necessitating further classification. Non-operative treatment has shown favorable outcomes, while surgical interventions vary. Anatomical coracoclavicular reconstruction (ACCR) has demonstrated biomechanical advantages over traditional methods. Arthroscopic techniques offer advantages, minimizing deltoid detachment and allowing concurrent pathology identification. This study evaluates the outcomes of arthroscopic-assisted ACCR in chronic AC joint dislocation. Surgical Technique: Arthroscopic-assisted ACCR involves meticulous portal placement, tendon graft harvesting, diagnostic arthroscopy, and coracoid exposure. The clavicle tunnels were made to mimic the conoid and trapezoid ligament positions, using FibreTape#2 loop and Dog Bone Button for correct placement against the coracoid base, and passing the semitendinosus graft through to reconstruct the conoid ligament, reduction done and graft follow through for anatomical reconstruction. Methods: A retrospective cohort study at Hospital Kuala Lumpur analyzed 35 patients undergoing arthroscopic-assisted ACCR for Rockwood grade III - V AC joint dislocations. Inclusion criteria encompassed trauma ≥ 3 weeks prior, no prior shoulder injuries, and ≥12-month follow-up. Functional and radiological assessments utilized ASES scores and coracoclavicular distances, respectively. Statistical analysis employed descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Results: The mean age was 38.9 years (SD 11.26), and 34 of 35 patients were male. Grade IV injuries were predominant (37.1%). Waiting time for surgery averaged 234.9 days. 平菇（Pleurotus spp.）是全球最广泛栽培的蘑菇品种之一。本研究旨在探讨合生元对Pleurotus ostreatus和Pleurotus pulmonarius生长和品质的影响。通过每日对蘑菇样品喷洒不同浓度的合生元，测量其生长参数、产量、生物效率、近似成分、矿物质含量、总酚含量和二苯基-1-三硝基苯肼（DPPH）自由基清除活性。结果表明，使用喷洒菊粉和干酪乳杆菌的合生元，平菇的产量最高（56.92克），生物效率也最高（12.65%）。菊粉和干酪乳杆菌的组合最为高效，可以同时提高两种样品蘑菇的生长性能和营养成分。此外在白平菇（***）中，菊粉和干酪乳杆菌组合的合生元可产生最高的总酚含量（20.550 mg GAE/g DE），而在灰蘑菇（P. pulmonarius）中产生最高总酚含量的是干酪乳杆菌（1.098 mg GAE/g DE），其次是菊粉和干酪乳杆菌（1.079 mg GAE/g DE）。DPPH结果表明，平菇可以作为一种有效的抗氧化剂。综上，合生元可通过增加酚类化合物的含量来提高蘑菇的抗氧化能力，并通过增加矿物质元素的含量来提供更好的健康益处，从而提高了蘑菇的品质。上述研究证明了合生元作为一种生物肥料用于蘑菇栽培的应用潜力，是帮助蘑菇种植者解决质量不稳定的一个有效方案。

Synthesis and characterization of hierarchical nanoporous HY zeolites from acid-activated kaolin

Hierarchical nanoporous HY zeolites were synthesized from acid-activated kaolin. The hierarchical factor （HF） was maximized by varying the aging and crystallization time. This was achieved by maximizing the external surface area without greatly reducing the micropore volume. The resulting products were characterized using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray fluorescence, N2 adsorption, and NH3 temperature-programmed desorption. The nanoporous HY zeolite with the highest HF was obtained by aging for 48 h and a crystallization time of 24 h. The acidiW and crystallinity varied depending on the operating parameters. Incorporation of an appropriate amount of NaCI was also vital in maximizing the HF, crystallinity, and acidity. The sample crystallinities were determined by comparing their XRD peak intensities with those of a conventional Y zeolite. The results show that optimizing this process could lead to a widely acceptable commercial route for FIY zeolite production.

Synergistic interaction of metal–acid sites for phenol hydrodeoxygenation over bifunctional Ag/TiO_2 nanocatalyst

The use of silver metal for hydrodeoxygenation(HDO) applications is scarce and different studies have indicated of its varying HDO activity. Several computational studies have reported of silver having almost zero turnover frequency for HDO owing to its high C\\O bond breaking energy barrier and low carbon and oxygen binding *** this work, titania supported silver catalysts were synthesized and firstly used to examine its phenol HDO activity via experimental reaction runs. BET, XRD, FESEM, TEM, EDX, ICP–OES, Pyridine-FTIR, NH_3-TPD and H_2-TPD analyses were done to investigate its physicochemical properties. Phenomena of hydrogen spillover and metal–acid site synergy were examined in this study. With the aid of TiO_2 reducible support, hydrogen spillover and metal–acid site interactions were observed to a certain extent but were not as superior as other Pt, Pd, Ni-based catalysts used in other HDO studies. The experimental findings showed that Ag/TiO_2 catalyst has mediocre phenol conversion but high benzene selectivity which confirms the explanation from other computational studies.

Infectious conjunctivitis is a very common presentation to medical professional and ophthalmologist all over the *** its typically self-limiting and treatable in almost all of the cases,but we need to be aware of the rare and potentially life threatening if the cause is not promptly identified and treated *** our case report,we highlighted the rare case of Neisseria meningitidis as a primary cause of *** meningitidis is a rare etiology of keratoconjunctivitis and its ocular presentations are quite similar with other bacterial or viral *** infection may potentially fatal if systemic invasion occurred,however with immediate and proper treatment the outcome is *** diagnosis and proper antibiotic treatment are critical to prevent systemic spread of the *** health intervention is needed to prevent outbreak of the disease.
