Clinical outcomes of endoscopic papillectomy of ampullary adenoma: A multi-center study

BACKGROUND Ampullary adenoma is a rare premalignant lesion,but its incidence is *** papillectomy has become the first treatment of choice for ampullary adenomas due to its safety and effectiveness,thereby replacing surgical ***,recurrence rates and adverse events after endoscopic papillectomy were reported in up to 30%of *** To review the long-term outcomes of endoscopic papillectomy and investigate the factors that affect these *** We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients who underwent endoscopic papillectomy for ampullary adenoma at five tertiary hospitals between 2013 and *** evaluated clinical outcomes and their risk *** definitions of outcomes were as follow:(1)curative resection:complete endoscopic resection without recurrence;(2)endoscopic success:treatment of ampullary adenoma with endoscopy without surgical intervention;(3)early recurrence:reconfirmed adenoma at the first endoscopic surveillance;and(4)late recurrence:reconfirmed adenoma after the first endoscopic *** A total of 106 patients were included for *** the included patients,81(76.4%)underwent curative resection,99(93.4%)had endoscopic success,showing that most patients with noncurative resection were successfully managed with *** patients(15.1%)had piecemeal resection,22 patients(20.8%)had shown positive/uncertain resection margin,11 patients(16.1%)had an early recurrence,13 patients(10.4%)had a late recurrence,and 6 patients(5.7%)had a *** multivariate analysis,a positive/uncertain margin[Odds ratio(OR)=4.023,P=0.048]and piecemeal resection(OR=6.610,P=0.005)were significant risk factors for early and late recurrence,*** resection was also a significant risk factor for non-curative resection(OR=5.424,P=0.007).Twenty-six patients experienced adverse events(24.5%).CONCLUSION Endoscopic papillectomy is a safe and effective treatment for ampullary ***

Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Resource Allocation in HPC/AI Converged Cluster

As the complexity of deep learning(DL)networks and training data grows enormously,methods that scale with computation are becoming the future of artificial intelligence(AI)*** this regard,the interplay between machine learning(ML)and high-performance computing(HPC)is an innovative paradigm to speed up the efficiency of AI research and ***,building and operating an HPC/AI converged system require broad knowledge to leverage the latest computing,networking,and storage ***,an HPC-based AI computing environment needs an appropriate resource allocation and monitoring strategy to efficiently utilize the system *** this regard,we introduce a technique for building and operating a high-performance AI-computing environment with the latest ***,an HPC/AI converged system is configured inside Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST),called GIST AI-X computing cluster,which is built by leveraging the latest Nvidia DGX servers,high-performance storage and networking devices,and various open source ***,it can be a good reference for building a small or middlesized HPC/AI converged system for research and educational *** addition,we propose a resource allocation method for DL jobs to efficiently utilize the computing resources with multi-agent deep reinforcement learning(mDRL).Through extensive simulations and experiments,we validate that the proposed mDRL algorithm can help the HPC/AI converged cluster to achieve both system utilization and power consumption *** deploying the proposed resource allocation method to the system,total job completion time is reduced by around 20%and inefficient power consumption is reduced by around 40%.

A Computational Study of Thrust Vectoring Control Using Dual Throat Nozzle

Dual throat nozzle (DTN) is fast becoming a popular technique for thrust vectoring. The DTN is designed with two throats, an upstream minimum and a downstream minimum at the nozzle exit, with a cavity in between the upstream throat and exit. In the present study, a computational work has been carried out to analyze the performance of a dual throat nozzle at various mass flow rates of secondary flow and nozzle pressure ratios (NPR). Two-dimensional, steady, compressible Navier-Stokes equations were solved using a fully implicit finite volume scheme. The present computational results were validated with available experimental data. Based on the present results, the control effectiveness of thrust-vectoring is discussed in terms of the thrust coefficient and the coefficient of discharge.

A Study on Energy Saving Rate for Variable Speed Condition of Multistage Centrifugal Pump

Centrifugal pumps are being widely used in many industrial and commercial *** of these pumps are being operated at constant speed but could provide energy savings through adjustable speed *** purpose of this study was to get the energy saving rates of the multistage centrifugal pump with variable speed *** this investigation an experimental set up of variable flow and pressure system was made to get energy saving rates and numerical analyses are applied to validate the pump *** energy saving and therefore the cost saving depends on the specific duty cycle of which the machine *** cycle is the proportion of time during which a component,device and system is *** duty cycle segmented into different flow rates and weighting the average value for each segment by the interval *** system was operated at 50%or less of the pump *** input power of the system was carried out by pump characteristics curve of each operating *** energy consumption was done by the product of specific duty cycle and the input power of the system for constant speed and variable speed drive *** total energy consumed for constant speed drive pump was 75,770 k *** and for variable speed drive pump was 31,700 k *** total energy saving of the system was 44,070 k *** or 58.16%***,this paper suggests a method of implementing an energy saving on variable-flow and pressure system of the multistage centrifugal pump.

Coastal landscape evolution tracked from late Holocene wave-cut benches in the Sinan Archipelago,Southwest Korea

Glacio-isostatic adjustment(GIA)and tectonic activity are important factors in the formation of marine *** Holocene wave-cut benches in the eastern part of the West Sea of Korea,also called the Yellow Sea,can be divided into two steps:531 cm above sea level(ASL)for the upper bench(T2)and 464-481 cm ASL for the lower bench(T1).Sediments on the benches a re classified into four units,and are interpreted to be beach deposits acco rding to gravel shape,textu re,and seaward *** ove rlying sediment indicates that T2 was formed at approximately 530 cm ASL before 2900 yr BP,and T1 at approximately 460-480 cm ASL before 1520 yr *** Holocene(4000-2000 yr BP)relative sea level(RSL)curves based on GIA models are inconsistent with the wave-cut bench *** T1 and T2 benches to the RSL curves of the West Sea,the upper and the lower benches were uplifted by approximately 5-8 m and 4-7 m,*** the area is several hundred kilometers away from plate boundaries,the high frequency of earthquakes in the West Sea may have induced the uplift of wave-cut benches during the last 2000 *** indicate that the west coast of the Korean Peninsula(KP)should no longer be considered an area of subsidence,but be assigned to a regime of uplift during the late Holocene.

Hydrogen production by water reduction reactions has received considerable attention because hydrogen is considered a clean-energy carrier,key for a sustainable energy *** methods have been widely used to study the reaction mechanism of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),but the calculation results need to be supported by experimental results and direct evidence to confirm the mechanistic *** this review,we discuss the fundamental principles of the in situ spectroscopic strategy and a theoretical model for a mechanistic understanding of the *** addition,we investigate recent studies by in situ Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS) and cover new findings that occur at the catalyst-electrolyte interface during *** spectroscopic strategies provide practical ways to elucidate catalyst phase,reaction intermediate,catalyst-electrolyte interface,intermediate binding energy,metal valency state,and coordination environment during HER.

Development and application of quantitative detection method for nervous necrosis virus(NNV) isolated from sevenband grouper Hyporthodus septemfasciatus

Objective:To develop the rapid and efficient quantitative detection tool for nervous necrosis virus isolated from sevenband grouper Hyporhodus ***:The viral genes of the NNV(SGYeosu08) isolated from sevenband grouper were phylogenetically *** addition,novel quantitative PCR primers based on the genomic sequence of SGYeosu08 isolate were designed and compared it with the conventional bio-assay method(TCID_(50)) using in vitro and in vivo ***:The phylogenetic analysis of viral genes demonstrated the relationship of SGYeosu08 with members of red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus(RGNNV).The qNNV_Rl primer set(R1_F and R1_R) and the qNNV_R2 primer set(R2_F and R2_R) revealed 93%primer efficiency(regression:y=-0.2861 x + 9.9401,R^2= 0.9976)and the revealed 108%primer efficiency(regression:y=-0.3172 x + 10.0611,R^2= 0.9982),*** comparison with viral infectivity calculated by TCID_(50) method showed similar kinetic pattern at in vitro and NNV challenged fish(in vivo) ***:Result show that this method is rapid and efficient to diagnose NNV infection compare to traditional bioassay method(TCID_(50)).

Ratio of metastatic lymph nodes is more important for rectal cancer patients treated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy

AIM:To evaluate the predictive value of the lymph node(LN) ratio(LNR,number of metastatic LNs/ examined LNs) for recurrence in patients with rectal cancer and to compare its applicability according to preoperative chemoradiotherapy(PCRT).METHODS:From 2000 to 2009,967 patients with metastatic LNs after curative resection for locally advanced rectal cancer were *** were categorized according to PCRT(PCRT vs No PCRT).The cut-off LNR was determined based on the p N1 vs p N2 when the recommended number of LNs was *** 5-year recurrence-free survival(RFS) rates using the Kaplan-Meier method were compared according to p/yp N stage and the LNR in each ***:Among patients with the same p/yp N stage,the 5-year RFS rate differed according to the *** addition,the 5-year RFS rate was significantly different between p N and LNR groups in patients with No *** PCRT group,however,only LNR was associated with *** multivariate analysis,both p N and LNR were significant independent prognostic factors for 5-year RFS in the No PCRT *** the PCRT group,only LNR category was found to be associated with RFS(HR = 2.36,95%CI:1.31-3.84,and P = 0.001).CONCLUSION:The LNR is an important prognostic predictor of RFS in rectal cancer patients especially treated with *** p N categories could not discriminate between prognostic groups of RFS after PCRT.

Cobalt phosphide nanoarrays with crystalline-amorphous hybrid phase for hydrogen production in universal-pH

To accomplish mass hydrogen production by electrochemical water-splitting,it is a necessary to develop robust,highly active,stable,and cost-effective hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalysts that perform comparably to Pt in the universal pH *** this work,cobalt phosphide hybrid nanosheets supported on carbon felt(CoP HNS/CF)are presented,which exhibit the superior electrocatalytic hydrogen production under a *** these nanosheets,a single CoP HNS is composed of polycrystalline CoP and oxygen-enriched amorphous Co-O-P *** from its unique nanoarchitecture,as-fabricated CoP HNS/CF exhibits a tremendous electrocatalytic HER activity and outperforms Pt/C as well as state-of-the-art CoP electrocatalysts in *** acidic and neutral media,the CoP HNS/CF shows superior electrocatalytic activity while maintaining its original hybrid crystalline-amorphous phase and *** alkaline medium,the unexpected phase and morphological reorganization of CoP HNS/CF results in outstanding electrocatalytic *** HNS/CF not only achieves high electrocatalytic activity and kinetics,but also a stable and long operating lifetime even under a high current density of 500 mA cm'***,the fabrication of CoP HNS/CF can be scaled up easily,and the large CoP HNS/CF electrode also exhibits similar electrocatalytic activity and stability.

2D reduced graphene oxide-titania nanocomposites synthesized under different hydrothermal conditions for treatment of hazardous organic pollutants

Two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide-titania （RGO-TiO2） composites were prepared using a single- step hydrothermal method under various hydrothermal reaction conditions. The morphological and surface characteristics of the RGO-TiO2 composites and reference materials were determined. The RGO-TiO2 composites showed photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of two target pollutants that was superior to both pure TiO2 and RGO under fluorescent daylight lamp illumination. The photo- catalytic activity of the RGO-TiO2 composite increased as the hydrothermal treatment time increased from 1 to 24 h, but then it decreased as the time increased to 36 h, which indicated the presence of an optimal treatment time. RGO-TiO2 composites activated by violet light-emitting diodes （LEDs） displayed lower decomposition efficiency than those activated by a daylight lamp, likely because of the lower light intensity of violet LEDs （0.2 mW/cm2） when compared with that of the daylight lamp （1.4mW/cm2）. However, the photocatalytic decomposition of the target pollutants using the RGO-TiO2 composite was more energy-efficient using the violet LEDs. The photocatalytic reaction rates increased as the residence time decreased, whereas the reverse was true for the decomposition efficiency.
