Numerical investigation of the coupled aero-hydrodynamic performances of a semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine with inclined columns

Numerical investigations of floating platforms with different outer column inclined angles under two operating conditions of regular wave and irregular wave are presented in this paper.A coupled aero-hydrodynamic computational fluid dynamics in-house solver FOWT-UALM-SJTU is applied for the ***,the validation for wave and wind generation are conducted to determine mesh distribution *** on these,the hydrodynamic motion response,aerodynamic performance and wake flow are analyzed to explore the impact of inclined *** spectral analysis on the motion response under wave action,discuss the aerodynamic attack angle and inflow wind velocity along the blade spanwise direction in detail,reveal different trends in wake development and *** results show that for the regular wave condition with the increase of inclined angles,the equilibrium position of surge motion is constantly rising,while pitch is *** maximum root mean square(rms)value occurs at angle=30°,compared with the original OC4 FOWT,the rms in power and thrust increase 0.35%,0.71%.And there are two low regions of attack angle and high regions of axial inflow velocity,corresponding to aerodynamic *** spectral analysis indicates that the natural frequency of pitch motion will increase with inclined ***,from the middle to far region of wake flow,the velocity recovery of FOWT with inclined angle will become faster,which is beneficial for downstream turbines to enhance more wind energy.

In this paper,I criticize Joel Feinberg's argument of soft paternalism,which stands against hard paternalism,as being *** assessing one's voluntariness is very difficult and controversial,paternalistic measures would be preferable to be implemented by hard paternalism rather than soft paternalism.I then examine four usual criticisms of hard paternalism from the perspective of utilitarianism and the principle of autonomy.I argue that these criticisms are unsound and unfounded,and I defend hard paternalism from the perspective of Confucian familism.I argue that as one's life and identity are inseparable from one's family,“self-regarding”actions,traditionally understood,do not only affect the self,but also one's family ***,paternalistic measures to protect individuals from self-harming are also aimed to protect their family members which are indeed compatible with Mill's harm principle.

How mutual funds respond to asymmetric feedback tradingin China’s stock market

Previous studies show that individual investors play a dominant role in China's stock *** behavior of chasing-rise being stronger than killing-fall leads to asymmetry of feedback *** article investigates how mutual funds react to this market *** China's stock and fund data from 2003 to 2019,we find that mutual funds tend to hold fewer shares when asymmetric feedback trading of the relevant stock gets more *** negative relationship is robust after controlling past returns,turnover rates,and firm risk factors,moreover,it attenuates when the market sentiment is bullish or when stocks are allowed *** results show that mutual funds'selling towards asymmetric feedback trading does not make excess return but leads to significant risk *** findings may be related to uncertainty associated with asymmetric feedback trading,and thus support the limit market participation theory from the second largest stock market.

Defect detection and repair algorithm for structures generated by topology optimization based on 3D hierarchical fully convolutional network

Customized 3D-printed structural parts are widely used in surgical *** satisfy the mechanical properties and kinematic functions of these structural parts,a topology optimization technique is adopted to obtain the optimal structural layout while meeting the constraints and ***,topology optimization currently faces some practical challenges that must be addressed,such as ensuring that structures do not have significant defects when converted to additive manufacturing *** address this problem,we designed a 3D hierarchical fully convolutional network(FCN)to predict the precise position of the defective *** on the prediction results,an effective repair strategy is adopted to repair the defective structure.A series of experiments is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our *** to the 2D fully convolutional network and the rule-based detection method,our approach can accurately capture most defect structures and achieve 89.88%precision and 95.59%***,we investigate the impact of different ways to increase the receptive field of our model,as well as the trade-off between different defect-repairing *** results of the experiment demonstrate that the hierarchical structure,which increases the receptive field,can substantially improve the defect detection *** the best of our knowledge,this paper is the first to investigate 3D defect prediction and repair for topology optimization in conjunction with deep learning algorithms,providing practical tools and new perspectives for the subsequent development of topology optimization techniques.

Boosting the Oxygen Reduction Performance of Fe–N–C Catalyst Using Zeolite as an Oxygen Reservoir

Non-precious metal electrocatalysts（such as Fe–N–C materials） for the oxygen（O2） reduction reaction demand a high catalyst loading in fuel cell devices to achieve workable performance. However, the extremely low solubility of O2in water creates severe mass transport resistance in the thick catalyst layer of Fe–N–C catalysts. Here, we introduce silicalite-1 nanocrystals with hydrophobic cavities as sustainable O2reservoirs to overcome the mass transport issue of Fe–N–C catalysts. The extra O2supply to the adjacent catalysts significantly alleviated the negative effects of the severe mass transport resistance. The hybrid catalyst（Fe–N–C@silicalite-1） achieved a higher limiting current density than Fe–N–C in the half-cell test. In the H2–O2and H2–air proton exchange membrane fuel cells, Fe–N–C@silicalite-1 exhibited a 16.3% and 20.2% increase in peak power density compared with Fe–N–C, respectively. The O2-concentrating additive provides an effective approach for improving the mass transport imposed by the low solubility of O2in water.

Significant enhancement in local thermal conductivity of erythritol at interface with nanoparticles due to their interaction

When nano-fillers are used to enhance the thermal conductivity of organic phase change materials(PCMs),the naturally formed interface is considered to hinder thermal transport of the composite ***,the effect of the interface on the thermal properties of surrounding PCM has not been fully *** this paper,three composite PCMs(Ery@SiC,Ery@SiO_(2) and Ery@Si_(3)N_(4))were prepared by melt-blending *** local thermal conductivity and reduced Young’s modulus(E^(*))of the erythritol at the interface and far away from the interface in the composite PCMs were simultaneously measured by scanning thermal microscopy(SThM).The results revealed significant enhancement in local thermal conductivity of erythritol at the interface and its obvious positive correlation with E^(*).For different composite PCMs,molecular dynamics(MD)simulations suggested that the increase in intrinsic thermal conductivity and E^(*)of erythritol is attributed to the increase in interaction energy between erythritol and nanoparticles,as more erythritol phonon vibrations transform from localized mode to delocalized mode and erythritol has a higher density at the *** findings will provide new ideas for the design of PCM for energy storage.

The colour-enhanced point cloud map is increasingly being employed in fields such as robotics,3D reconstruction and virtual *** authors propose ER-Mapping(Extrinsic Robust coloured Mapping system using residual evaluation and selection).ER-Mapping consists of two components:the simultaneous localisation and mapping(SLAM)subsystem and the colouring *** SLAM subsystem reconstructs the geometric structure,where it employs a dynamic threshold-based residual selection in LiDAR-inertial odometry to improve mapping *** the other hand,the col-ouring subsystem focuses on recovering texture information from input images and innovatively utilises 3D–2D feature selection and optimisation methods,eliminating the need for strict hardware time synchronisation and highly accurate extrinsic *** were conducted in both indoor and outdoor *** results demonstrate that our system can enhance accuracy,reduce computational costs and achieve extrinsic robustness.

We detail the generation of a pulsed atomic oxygen(AO)broad beam with a high flux-density via collision-induced dissociation of O_(2) to support practical industrial exploitation of AOs,particularly for facilitating 2-dimenstional oxidation/etching at a fast rate of one-monolayer per second in an area≥1000 cm².This innovation fuses the following interdisciplinary concepts:(a)a high density of O^(*) can be produced in an electron-cyclotron-resonance(ECR)O2 plasma;(b)o^(*) can be extracted and accelerated with an aperture-electrode in the plasma.

Permeable carbon fiber based thermoelectric film with exceptional EMI shielding performance and sensor capabilities

Thermoelectric(TE)technologies offer a promising approach for directly converting skin heat into electricity for wearable *** p-type Sb2Tes and n-type BizTes as top-performing materials at room temperature,their rigid inorganic structure,with ultralow moisture permeability,poses challenges in warm and humid conditions,fostering bacterial growth and potential skin *** address this issue,we developed a cross-linked core-shell structure by electrodepositing Sb_(2)Te_(3)(Bi_(2)Te_(3))onto carbon fiber(CF).This architecture significantly improved the electrical conductivity and the Seebeck coefficient,resulting in a remarkable 300-fold increase in the power factor compared to that of pure *** CF/Sb_(2)Te_(3) and CF/Bi2Te films demonstrated optimal power factors of 450 and 121μW·m^(-1)·K^(-2),***,the fabricated films exhibited outstanding moisture permeability,over 3000 g·m^(-2)·d^(-1),exceptional electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency approaching 93 dB,and versatility as sensors for language assistance and respiratory *** attributes underline their broad applicability,emphasizing their suitability for human health protection in diverse scenarios.
