Knowledge of the relationships and thus the classification of fungi,has developed rapidly with increasingly widespread use of molecular techniques,over the past 10–15 years,and continues to accelerate.Several genera have been found to be polyphyletic,and their generic concepts have subsequently been emended.New names have thus been introduced for species which are phylogenetically distinct from the type species of particular genera.The ending of the separate naming of morphs of the same species in 2011,has also caused changes in fungal generic names.In order to facilitate access to all important changes,it was desirable to compile these in a single document.The present article provides a list of generic names of Ascomycota(approximately 6500 accepted names published to the end of 2016),including those which are lichen-forming.Notes and summaries of the changes since the last edition of‘Ainsworth&Bisby’s Dictionary of the Fungi’in 2008 are provided.The notes include the number of accepted species,classification,type species(with location of the type material),culture availability,life-styles,distribution,and selected publications that have appeared since 2008.This work is intended to provide the foundation for updating the ascomycete component of the"Without prejudice list of generic names of Fungi"published in 2013,which will be developed into a list of protected generic names.This will be subjected to the XIXth International Botanical Congress in Shenzhen in July 2017 agreeing to a modification in the rules relating to protected lists,and scrutiny by procedures determined by the Nomenclature Committee for Fungi(NCF).The previously invalidly published generic names Barriopsis,Collophora(as Collophorina),Cryomyces,Dematiopleospora,Heterospora(as Heterosporicola),Lithophila,palmomyces(as palmaria)and Saxomyces are validated,as are two previously invalid family names,Bartaliniaceae and Wiesneriomycetaceae.Four species of Lalaria,which were invalidly published are transferred to Taphrina and validated as new combinat

Integrating multiple electromagnetic data to map spatiotemporal variability of soil salinity in Kairouan region, Central Tunisia

Soil salinization is a major problem affecting soils and threatening agricultural sustainability in arid and semi-arid regions,which makes it necessary to establish an efficient strategy to manage soil salinity and confront economic challenges that arise from it.Saline soil recovery involving drainage of shallow saline groundwater and the removal of soil salts by natural rainfall or by irrigation are good strategies for the reclamation of salty soil.To develop suitable management strategies for salty soil reclamation,it is essential to improve soil salinity assessment pro cess/mechanism and to adopt new approaches and techniques.T his study mapped a recovered area of 7200 m2 to assess and verify variations in soil salinity in space and time in K airouan region in Central Tunisia,taking into account the thickness of soil materials.Two electromagnetic conductivity meters(EM38 and EM31)were used to measure the electrical conductivity of saturated soil-paste extract(ECe)and apparent electrical conductivity(E Ca).Multiple linear regression was established between ECe and ECa,and it was revealed that ECa-EM38 is optimal for E Ce prediction in the surface soils.Salinity maps demonstrated that the spatial structure of soil salinity in the region of interest was relatively unchanged but varied temporally.Variation in salinity at the soil surface was greater than that at a depth.These findings can not only be used to track soil salinity variations and their significance in the field but also help to identify the spatial and temporal features of soil salinity,thus improving the efficiency of soil management.

Terahertz Spectroscopic Characterization and Thickness Evaluation of Internal Delamination Defects in GFRp Composites

The use of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS)for the nondestructive testing and evaluation(NDT&E)of materials and structural systems has attracted significant attention over the past two decades due to its superior spatial resolution and capabilities of detecting and characterizing defects and structural damage in non-conducting materials.In this study,the THz-TDS system is used to detect,localize and evaluate hidden multi-delamination defects(i.e.,a three-level multi-delamination system)in multilayered GFRp composite laminates.To obtain accurate results,a wavelet shrinkage de-noising algorithm is used to remove the noise from the measured time-of-flight(TOF)signals.The thickness and location of each delamination defect in the z-direction(i.e.,through-the-thickness direction)are calculated from the de-noised TOF signals considering the interaction between the pulsed THz waves and the different interfaces in the GFRp composite laminates.A comparison between the actual and the measured thickness values of the delamination defects before and after the wavelet shrinkage denoising process indicates that the latter provides better results with less than 3.712%relative error,while the relative error of the non-de-noised signals reaches 16.388%.Also,the power and absorbance levels of the THz waves at every interface with different refractive indices in the GFRp composite laminates are evaluated based on analytical and experimental approaches.The present study provides an adequate theoretical analysis that could help NDT&E specialists to estimate the maximum thickness of GFRp composite materials and/or structures with different interfaces that can be evaluated by the THz-TDS.Also,the accuracy of the obtained results highlights the capabilities of the THz-TDS for the NDT&E of multilayered GFRp composite laminates.

BACKGROUND As a result of improved and novel treatment strategies,the spectrum of patients with cardiovascular disease is consistently changing.Overall,those patients are typically older and characterized by increased burden with comorbidities.Limited data on the prognostic impact of age in cardiogenic shock(CS)is available.Therefore,this study investigates the prognostic impact of age in patients with CS.METHODS From 2019 to 2021,consecutive patients with CS of any cause were included.The prognostic value of age(i.e.,60-80 years and>80 years)was investigated for 30-day all-cause mortality.Spearman’s correlations,Kaplan-Meier analyses,as well as multivariable Cox proportional regression analyses were performed for statistics.Subsequent risk assessment was performed based on the presence or absence of CS related to acute myocardial infarction(AMI).RESULTS 223 CS patients were included with a median age of 77 years(interquartile range:69-82 years).No significant difference in 30-day all-cause mortality was observed for both age-groups(54.6%vs.63.4%,log-rank p=0.169;HR=1.273,95%CI:0.886-1.831,p=0.192).In contrast,when analyzing subgroups stratified by CS-etiology,AMI-related CS patients of the group>80 years showed an increased risk of 30-day all-cause mortality(78.1%vs.60.0%,log-rank p=0.032;HR=1.635,95%CI:1.000-2.673,p=0.050),which was still evident after multivariable adjustment(HR=2.072,95%CI:1.174-3.656,p=0.012).CONCLUSIONS Age was not associated with 30-day all-cause mortality in patients with CS of mixed etiology.However,increasing age was shown to be a significant predictor of increased mortality-risk in the subgroup of patients presenting with AMI-CS.

The Merguechoum fluorite-barite mineralization,located in the Eastern Meseta of Morocco,is hosted in the Late Hercynian granite.The ore consists of fine crystals of fluorite 1,massive barite 1,euhedral crystals of fluorite 2,and barite 2 with calcite and minor quartz and sulfides.The Merguechoum ore deposits have never been investigated.This study was the first contribution that studied the genesis of fluorite and barite.The ore occurs as dissemination within granite intrusion and also fills the NE-SWtrending meter-sized fractures and faults.The values of the total Rare Earth Elements and Yttrium(REY)and the ratios of LREY/HREY,Y/Ho,Tb/Ca,and Tb/La indicate that the Merguechoum fluorite precipitated from hydrothermal fluids,likely basinal brines,which interacted with the Hercynian granite.The REY data indicate that the ore-forming fluids of the early stage have intensely interacted with the Hercynian granite compared to those of the late ore stage.The gradual decrease in the europium(Eu/Eu^(*)),yttrium(Y/Y^(*)),and cerium(Ce/Ce^(*))anomalies and a low concentration ofΣREY observed in the second ore stage compared to the first ore stage suggest an increase in p H and fO_(2)and by inference a decrease in temperature during the evolution of the hydrothermal system.This evolution could be explained by fluid mixing between the ascending basinal hydrothermal fluids and the diluted sulfate-rich meteoric water barite separates from selected samples reveal that the dissolved sulfates(SO_(4)^(2-))were derived from permian–Triassic sulfates and/or coeval poreseawater sulfates.The proposed fluid mixing triggered the precipitation of an early-stage F-Ba assemblage followed by the second-stage F-Ba mineralization.Geologic fieldwork,REY inventories,and isotope data point to the ore genesis during the permian–Triassic extensional tectonic activity concerning the pangea rifting.This extensional tectonic environment is likely the driving force that mobilized a large amount of the ore-forming basinal brines along the available faul

Acupuncture for the management of dry eye disease

The effectiveness of using acupuncture for dry eye disease(DED)is controversial.Thus,this systematic review investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of using acupuncture for DED in accordance with the 2020 pRISMA statement.The outcomes of interests were(1)to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture in improving the ocular surface disease index(OSDI),Schirmer I test score,and tear breakup time from baseline to the last follow-up;(2)to determine possible complications of using acupuncture;and(3)to investigate the superiority of acupuncture over other commonly used treatments for DED.Data from 394 patients were collected.Results showed that acupuncture significantly prolonged the tear breakup time(pppp.Compared with the control group,the acupuncture group had significantly greater Schirmer I test score(pp time(p=0.0004),and significantly lower OSDI(p=0.002).These results suggest that acupuncture is effective and feasible in improving symptoms and signs of DED.No severe adverse effects of acupuncture were observed.

Differential temperature responses between plutella xylostella and its specialist endo-larval parasitoid Diadegma semiclausum—Implications for biological control

Understanding the thermal dynamics of host-parasitoid interactions is crucial to predicting how biological control of pest insects by parasitoids might be affected by geographic location and climate change.We compared performance traits of plutella xylostella(Lepidoptera:plutellidae)and its solitary endo-larval parasitoid Diadegma semiclausum(Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae),over a wide range of constant rearing temperatures(10-30℃).parasitoids reared at 30℃ experienced reductions in pupation rate,pupal mass,egg load,and adult life span when compared with those reared at lower temperatures.Our analyses of the fate of parasitoids and their hosts and intergenerational population growth at different rearing temperatures show that D.semiclausum and p.xylostella respond differently to temperature,leading to divergent outcomes under different temperature conditions.Some parasitoid larvae could not complete development at 30℃,the temperature at which the host biomass was least and the metabolic demands of the parasitoid could be high,suggesting that parasitoid development might be constrained by lack of host resources at higher temperatures.We discuss the potential mechanisms of parasitoid susceptibility to elevated temperatures,which likely explain the pronounced seasonal dynamics of D.semiclausum in subtropical regions and its failure to establish in lowland tropical regions,where p.xylostella is a serious pest.Similar interactions in other host-parasitoid associations would constrain the efficacy of parasitoids as biological control agents as global temperatures increase.

Immediate and Long-Term Results of Transcatheter Closure of patent Ductus Arteriosus—Comparison of Two Decades before and after Change in Antibiotic Infective Endocarditis prophylaxis Guidelines

Objectives:To determine immediate and long-term follow-up of transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus(pDA)in children.Background:National antibiotic prophylaxis(Ap)guideline for infective endocarditis changed after 2009,the effect on practice of pDA closure is unknown.Methods:Observational single center study analyzing follow-up of pDA closure comparing two time periods before(2002–2009)and after(2010–2019)changes in Ap guideline.Results:332 patients(68.1%female),median(interquartile range)age 3.0 years(1.5–5.7)and body weight 14.0 kg(10.0–19.3),were enrolled.pDA morphology was conical type A(50.3%),window type B(1.2%),tubular type C(40.1%),complex type D(2.1%),elongated type E(0.9%)and other(5.4%).Minimal pDA diameter and length were 1.9 mm(1.3–2.5)and 8.0 mm(6.2–10.2).pDA was closed using coils(56.3%),Amplatzer Duct Occluders(41.9%)and others(1.8%).Complete closure rate was 61.1%at catheter intervention,72.3%on day 1,87.7%after 6 months and 98.4%at last follow-up on echocardiography.Moderate complication rate(severity level 3)was 4.2%and major complication rate(severity level 4)0.3%,with no catastrophic complications(severity level 5).Annual pDA closure rate declined in the second time period(22.6/year vs.15.5/year,p=0.018),pDA size increased(1.6 mm vs.2.0 mm,p=0.002)and proportion of coils decreased(72.4%vs.37.1%,ppDA is associated with excellent closure rates during follow-up(>98%)and only a small number of complications leading to reintervention or surgery.Change in Ap guidelines changed indication for and practice of pDA closure.

Medium-Term Results of Balloon Valvuloplasty of Native pulmonary Valve Stenosis with and without Supravalvular Obstruction in Childhood

Objectives:Factors influencing results of balloon valvuloplasty(BVp)of pulmonary valve stenosis(pS)in children are investigated.Background:BVp has become the standard of care for pS,medium-term results are not uniform and depend on various preconditions.Methods:We analysed the medium-term results of BVp of pS in children in an observational,single centre study.Need for additional procedure was defined as outcome after initial BVp.Results:We included 143 children(83 female)at a median(IQR)age of 2.6(0.26–9.24)months and body weight of 5(3.4–8)kg at BVp with a follow–up of 5.04(1.6–10.2)years.We used balloon size of 10(9–14)mm and maximal balloon pressure of 4(3.5–10)atm,resulting in balloon–to–pulmonary annulus ratio of 1.28(1.2–1.4).Systolic pressure gradient of pS was reduced with BVp(43.5 mmHg vs.14.0 mmHg,pphy(68.0 mmHg vs.25.0 mmHg,ppost procedure.pulmonary BVp with associated supravalvular pS resulted in a relevant reduction of systolic pressure gradient in 23 of 31 patients(74.2%).Early additional procedure was necessary in 14 patients(9.8%)after 0.2(0.1–0.7)years due to residual pS(n=13)and infective endocarditis(n=1).Factors for additional procedures were associated supravalvular pS with a higher residual pressure gradient,but not genetic syndrome.During further follow–up of 5.04(1.6–10.2)years no further additional procedures were needed.Conclusions:pulmonary BVp of native pulmonary valve stenosis leads to excellent medium-term results,even in 3 of 4 infants with associated supravalvular obstruction sufficient pressure relief can be obtained.

Binding of transition metals to S100 proteins

The S100 proteins are a unique class of EF-hand Ca^(2+) binding proteins distributed in a cell-specific, tissue-specific, and cell cycle-specific manner in humans and other vertebrates. These proteins are distinguished by their distinctive homodimeric structure, both intracellular and extracellular functions, and the ability to bind transition metals at the dimer interface. Here we summarize current knowledge of S100 protein binding of Zn^(2+), Cu^(2+) and Mn^(2+) ions, focusing on binding affinities, conformational changes that arise from metal binding, and the roles of transition metal binding in S100 protein function.
