Background/aims: Determining the levels of oral health and the quality of dental care are fundamental to building concepts of oral health. This study aims to assess toothbrushing techniques using a technical and physical model, clarifying how children and pre-adults learn to brush their teeth. materials and methods: Data were recorded from 23 participants, both male and female of various ages, using a proposed electronic toothbrush equipped with X-Y-Z axes pathways. The data, collected before and after training experiments, were processed with maTLaB to generate plots for the three axes. Results: The study revealed that most parameter values, such as mean Difference Between amplitudes (maV, 6.00), Wilson amplitude (WamP, 179.419), and average amplitude Coupling (aaC, 1.270), decreased from before to after the experiments. Furthermore, the average overall epoch lengths (aVG) showed a 75% reduction in movement amplitude between the two experiments. Conclusion: Dentist observations indicated which brushing methods were acceptable or not. analytical values suggest that individuals learn the toothbrushing technique effectively, and medical observations clearly demonstrate the success of the proposed method.

Studies reported that there is a close relationship between hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） and testis carcinoma. Both tumors can be presented as synchronal tumors, or as testicular metastases of HCC or as hepatic metastases of testicular tumor. HCC is one of the most common malignancies worldwide and the incidence of HCC increases with age. The relationship between hepatitis B incidence and HCC rates is also well recognized. alpha fetoprotein （aFP） is produced by 70% of HCC. Though a level of aFP 〉400 ng/mL is diagnostic for HCC, in the presence of active hepatitis B infection, the cut-off level should be considered to be at least 1 000-4 000 ng/mL. Like HCC, germ cell tumors of the testis also release aFP; but it is shown that some of Sertoli cell tumors of testis can also release aFP. Herein we have reported about the first case of HCC in the literature which is presented concomitantly with Sertoli-Leydig tumor of testis, leading to extremely high level of aFP in a 21-year-old man.

maintaining population diversity is an important task in the multimodal multi-objective *** the zoning search(ZS)can improve the diversity in the decision space,assigning the same computational costs to each search subspace may be wasteful when computational resources are limited,especially on imbalanced *** alleviate the above-mentioned issue,a zoning search with adaptive resource allocating(ZS-aRa)method is proposed in the current *** the proposed ZS-aRa,the entire search space is divided into many subspaces to preserve the diversity in the decision space and to reduce the problem ***,the computational resources can be automatically allocated among all the *** ZS-aRa is compared with seven algorithms on two different types of multimodal multi-objective problems(mmOPs),namely,balanced and imbalanced *** results indicate that,similarly to the ZS,the ZS-aRa achieves high performance with the balanced ***,it can greatly assist a“regular”algorithm in improving its performance on the imbalanced mmOPs,and is capable of allocating the limited computational resources dynamically.

In this study, geophysical and geotechnical studies were carried out in NE Turkey to evaluate the stability and support design of cut slopes that will be excavated during the construction of a new border control complex. 13 vertical and 3 inclined boreholes were drilled, and 2D electrical resistivity tomography surveys were conducted along 8 profiles to investigate the horizontal and vertical continuity of the geological units. Strength characteristics of all units were determined by laboratory tests. Limit equilibrium(LE) slope stability analyses were conducted on the geological model for static and pseudo-static conditions and factor of safety values as low as 0.227 were determined for post-excavation. Back analysis was conducted for the determination of required support forces on the slopes to achieve a factor of safety of 1.3. a feasible support system consisting of bored piles and rock anchors was designed based on back analysis results for each cut slope. LE analyses were repeated after the implementation of the designed support systems and the lowest factor of safety value increased to 1.35. The utility and safety of the designed support systems were investigated using finite element slope stability analyses and strength reduction factor values higher than 1.3 were determined which means support systems will function as intended and no support failure will occur. Lastly, quick reference charts were created for alluvium and residual soil materials to easily determine the safe slope angle in the future in case no support measures will be applied.

aIm:To evaluate endoscopic findings and the prevalence of H pylori in patients with Behcet's disease (BD) who have upper gastrointestinal symptoms. mETHODS:The patients with BD diagnosed according to the International Study Group and followed up in the Department of Dermatology and other related departments and who had any upper gastrointestinal complaints,were included in this study. Forty-five patients with BD and 40 patients in the control group were evaluated by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and two biopsied specimens were taken during endoscopy for H pylori . a two-week triple therapy for H pylori eradication was administered to H pylori positive patients. Two months after the treatment,the patients were evaluated by urea-breath test for eradication control. RESULTS:Patients with BD had a mean age of 36.2 ± 11.4 years (18-67 years). The mean follow-up time was 35 ± 14 mo (16-84 mo). aphthous or deep ulcer in esophagus,stomach and duodenum had never been confirmed by endoscopic examination. most gastric lesions were gastric erosion (40%) and the most duodenal lesions were duodenitis (17.5%) in two groups. H pylori was positive in 33 patients (73.3%) with BD. The two-week triple eradication therapy was successful in 75% of the patients. There was no difference between the groups in respect to prevalence of H pylori (73.3% vs 75%,P > 0.05),and eradication rate (75% vs 70%,P > 0.05). CONCLUSION:Endoscopic findings,eradication rate and prevalence of H pylori were similar in patients withBD and control group.

Capsule endoscopy is a new technology that, for the first time, allows complete, non-invasive endoscopic imaging of the small bowel. The efficacy of capsule endoscopy in the diagnosis of suspected small bowel diseases has been established. Important applications for surgeons include observations of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and small bowel neoplasms.

Economic development, industrialization and dense population in Trabzon City have caused residential construction to increase by 300% in the last decade. The settlement area is moun- tainous and covered with heavy vegetation. Thus, the steep-sided topography and heavy precipita- tion means floods and landslides are common and in areas with little flat land. Since the mass movements in some parts of city create an enormous danger for buildings, site selection for residen- tial areas becomes increasingly important. This paper describes geotechnical and seismic properties of Tertiary volcanic rock and establishes the link between these units and construction. In this study, refraction tomography and multichannel analysis surface wave methods were applied in order to seek the best construction site in the residential area. The results of the geophysical study were com- pared with the borehole applications. a series of geomechnical tests were carried out on the core samples. Following that, statistical correlations were conducted by regression analysis to evaluate re- lationships between measured parameters. Rock Quality Designation and weathering degree were also determined. The methodology defined in this investigation proves to be an appropriate ap- proach to determine geotechnical properties of the foundation rocks and soils and a proper guide on future geotechnical studies for other cities.

We present the formal derivation of a new unidirectional model for unsteady mixed flows in nonuniform closed water pipes. In the case of free surface incompressible flows, the FS-model is formally obtained, using formal asymptotic analysis, which is an extension to more classical shallow water models. In the same way, when the pipe is full, we propose the P-model, which describes the evolution of a compressible inviscid flow, close to gas dynamics equations in a nozzle. In order to cope with the transition between a free surface state and a pressured （i.e., compressible） state, we propose a mixed model, the PFS-model, taking into account changes of section and slope variation.

aIm： To assess the practically usefulness and diagnostic yield of this new method in a group of patients with suspected small bowel lesions. mETHODS： Capsule endoscopic （CE） examination by using m2a capsule endoscope Tm （Given Imaging, Yoqneam, Israel） was performed in thirty nine patients （26 males, 13 females） with suspected small intestinal lesions. The composing of the patients was as follows： obscure gastrointestinal bleeding in twenty three patients, known Crohn＇s disease in 6 patients, in whom CE was used to evaluate the severity and extension of the diseases, chronic diarrhea in 8 patients, abdominal pain in one patient and malignancy in one patient with unknown origin. RESULTS： In two patients CE failed. Different abnormalities were revealed in 26 patients overall. Detection rate of abnormalities was highest among patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and the source of bleeding was demonstrated in 17 of 23 patients with obscure bleeding （73.9%）. Entero-Behcet was diagnosed in two patients by CE as a source of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. In 6 patients with known Crohn＇s disease, CE revealed better evaluation of the disease extension. In 3 of 8 （37.5%） patients with chronic diarrhea; CE revealed some mucosal abnormalities as the cause of chronic diarrhea. In a patient with unexplained abdominal pain and in a cancer patient with unknown origin, CE examination was normal. CONCLUSION： In our relatively small series, we found that capsule endoscopy is a useful diagnostic tool particularly in diagnosis of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, chronic diarrhea and in estimating the extension of Crohn＇s disease.
