We present the generalized forms of Parrondo＇s paradox existing in fractional-order nonlinear systems. The gener- alization is implemented by applying a parameter switching （PS） algorithm to the corresponding initial value problems associated with the fractional-order nonlinear systems. The PS algorithm switches a system parameter within a specific set of N 〉 2 values when solving the system with some numerical integration method. It is proven that any attractor of the concerned system can be approximated numerically. By replacing the words ＂winning＂ and ＂loosing＂ in the classical Parrondo＇s paradox with ＂order＂ and ＂chaos＂, respectively, the PS algorithm leads to the generalized Parrondo＇s paradox： chaos1 ＋ chaos2 ＋..- ＋ chaosN = order and order1 ＋ order2 ＋.-. ＋ orderN = chaos. Finally, the concept is well demon- strated with the results based on the fractional-order Chen system.

FeNC catalysts are promising substitutes of platinum-type catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).While previous research disclosed that high pyrolysis temperatures are required to achieve good stability,it was identified that a trade-off needs to be made regarding the active site *** central question is,if a good stability can also be reached at milder pyrolysis conditions but longer duration retaining more active sites,while enabling the defect-rich carbon to heal during a long residence time?To address this,a variation of pyrolysis temperatures and durations is used in FeNC *** morphology and iron species are characterized by Raman spectroscopy and Mössbauer spectroscopy,*** cell(FC)activity and stability data are *** results are compared to ORR activity and selectivity data from rotating ring disc electrode experiments and resulting durability in accelerated stress tests mimick.ng the load cycle and start-up and shut-down cycle *** is discussed how pyrolysis temperature and duration affect FC activity and ***,more important,the results connect the pyrolysis conditions to the required accelerated stress test protocol combination to enable a prediction of the catalyst stability in fuel cells.

Extensive investigation of the passivating agents has been performed to suppress the perovsk.te ***,very few attentions have been paid to rationally design the passivating agents for the balance of the carrier confinement and transfer in quasi-2D perovsk.tes,which is essential to achieve high-performance perovsk.te LEDs(PeLEDs).In this work.tributylphosphine oxide(TBPO)with moderate carbon chain length is demonstrated as a decent passivator for the quasi-2D perovsk.tes by strengthening the carrier confinement for massive radiative recombination within the perovsk.tes,and more importantly providing efficient carrier transfer in the quasi-2D *** from these interesting optoelectronic properties of TBPO-incorporated perovsk.tes,we achieve high-efficient blue PeLEDs with an external quantum efficiency up to 11.5%and operational stability as long as 41.1 min without any shift of the electroluminescence ***,this work.contributes an effective approach to promote the carrier confinement and transfer for high-performance and stable blue PeLEDs.

Arabinoxylo-oligosaccharides(AXOS) are hydrolytic degradation products of arabinoxylans(AX) that can be fermented by the gut microbiota, thus potentially displaying prebiotic properties. This study examined the effects of AX and AXOS on net energy(NE) and nutrient utilization in broilers. Ross 308 broilers(n = 90, 30 birds per treatment) were fed wheat-soybean diets supplemented with pure AX, AXOS produced by exposing the AX to xylanase in vitro(AXOS), or AX with xylanase(AX + E) from d 10 to *** parameters were measured from d 10 to 21. On d 15, 10 birds per treatment were allocated to closed-circuit net energy chambers to assess the impact of AX and AXOS on dietary energy utilization,through assessment of both metabolisable energy(ME) and NE. Ileal and caecal digesta samples were collected on d 21 to determine the effect of AX and AXOS on ileal and total tract dry matter digestibility,ileal digestible energy, digesta pH, short chain fatty acids(SCFA) and microbiota concentration. Feed conversion ratio was numerically the lowest in birds fed the diet supplemented with AXOS, which is 1.26 compared to 1.37 and 1.30 for AX and AX + E, respectively. Ileal dry matter digestibility was higher in birds fed AXOS than those fed AX(P = 0.047). Ileal digestible energy and total tract dry matter digestibility were higher in birds fed AXOS than those fed AX or AX + E(P = 0.004 and P = 0.001,respectively). Birds fed AXOS had higher ME intak.(P = 0.049) and nitrogen retention(P = 0.001) and a strong trend of higher NE(P = 0.056), NE intak.(P = 0.057) and retained energy(P = 0.054) compared to those fed AX. Ileal total SCFA, lactic and formic acid concentrations were higher in birds fed AXOS than those fed AX(P = 0.011, P = 0.012 and P = 0.023, respectively). Conventional sliding mode controllers are based on the assumption of switching control, but a well-k.own drawback.of such controllers is the chattering phenomenon. To overcome the undesirable chattering effects, the discontinuity in the control law can be smoothed out in a thin boundary layer neighboring the switching surface. In this paper, rigorous proofs of the boundedness and convergence properties of smooth sliding mode controllers are presented. This result corrects flawed conclusions previously reached in the literature. An illustrative example is also presented in order to confirm the convergence of the track.ng error vector to the defined bounded region.

Lowland tapir distribution is described in northwestern Bolivia and southeastern Peru within the Greater Madidi-Tambopata Landscape,a priority Tapir Conservation Unit,using 1255 distribution points derived from cam-era trapping efforts,field research and interviews with park.guards from 5 national protected areas and hunt-ers from 19 local communities.A total of 392 independent camera trapping events from 14 camera trap surveys at 11 sites demonstrated the nocturnal and crepuscular activity patterns(86%)of the lowland tapir and provide 3 indices of relative abundance for spatial and temporal *** rates for lowland tapirs were not significantly different between camera trapping stations placed on river beaches versus those placed in the *** tapir capture rates were significantly higher in the national protected areas of the region versus in-digenous territories and unprotected portions of the *** rates through time suggested that low-land tapir populations are recovering within the Tuichi Valley,an area currently dedicated towards ecotourism activities,following the creation(1995)and subsequent implementation(1997)of the Madidi National Park.in *** on our distributional data and published conservative estimates of population density,we calcu-lated that this transboundary landscape holds an overall lowland tapir population of between 14540 and 36351 individuals,of which at least 24.3%are under protection from national and municipal *** such,the Great-er Madidi-Tambopata Landscape should be considered a lowland tapir population stronghold and priority con-servation efforts are discussed in order to maintain this population.

This paper has reviewed:(1) the two unique advantages of tandem organic solar cells(OSCs) compared to single OSCs;(2) the challengings as well as strategies to develop qualified interconnecting layer(ICL) for tandem *** specifically,firstly,the two k.y advantages unique to tandem OSCs as compared to single OSCs,namely minimizing sub-bandgap transmission and thermalization loss as well as realizing optical thick.and electrical thin structures,have been ***,the ICL,as one of the most challenging issue in tandem OSCs that needs to fulfill the optical,electrical and mechanical requirements simultaneously to realize a qualified ICL has been *** one of the most challenging requirement among the three,the electrical requirement and its corresponding three different solving strategies have been discussed in detail,revealing a bright future for developing a general strategy to realizing qualified ICL composed of different hole transporting layer(HTL) and electron transporting layer(ETL).
