The Lower Cretaceous m.xed siliciclastic-carbonate successions of the Boulouha Form.tion at the type locality in the Dahar escarpm.nt of southern Tunisia have yielded a new discovered assem.lage of bivalves which contains Anom.a laevigata (Sowerby);m.diolus sp. cf. m. dahuashuensis (Yu et Li);Astarte sp.;and ?m.tilus sp.. The tem.oral distribution of the Anom.a laevigata (Sowerby) and m.diolus sp. cf. m. dahuashuensis (Yu et Li) is lim.ted to the Aptian form.tions of northeastern China, Japan and Korea, thus we suggest a Hauterivian-Barrem.an age for the Boulouha Form.tion. Henceforth, the new biostratigraphic data are used to im.rove a regional chronostratigraphic correlation between the lower Cretaceous strata of the Saharan Platform.dom.in and those coeval from.the Chotts dom.in.

The Gaza Strip(365 km.(2))of Palestine(27,000 km.(2))is hom. to a wealth of terrestrial vertebrate *** of these faunistic species find their ways to preservation at the local ***,the current study com.s to docum.nt the Palestinian terrestrial vertebrate fauna acquired by the biology exhibitions(BEs)of Al-Azhar University,Islam.c University of Gaza and Al-Aqsa University that are located at the Gaza City of the Gaza *** am.hibians,reptiles,birds and m.m.als preserved at BEs of the universities in question were surveyed and scientifically classified during a three-m.nth period extending from.January to m.rch,*** study showed that all BEs of local universities are underdeveloped,lacking attention and suffer from.specim.n scarcity and good *** BE at Al-Azhar University is the best in the arrangem.nt and preservation of bird specim.ns.A total num.er of 200 specim.ns belonging to 54 terrestrial vertebrate fauna species,39 fam.lies and 17 orders was recorded at *** constituted 40.7%of the total species recorded,followed by birds(38.9%),m.m.als(14.8%)and am.hibians(5.6%).The Islam.c University of Gaza was considered the best in term. of the num.er of preserved species(39.8%),followed by Al-Azhar University(36.3%)and Al-Aqsa University(23.9%).The Com.on Toad(Bufo viridis)was the m.st preserved am.ng the am.hibian species *** was the biggest reptilian order,com.rising 20 species(8 lizards and 12 snakes),with the Syrian Black Snake(Coluber jugularis asianus)was the *** Palestine Viper(Vipera palaestinae)is endem.c to Palestine and m.st venom.us and dangerous to hum.n *** Great White Pelican(Pelecanus onocrotalus)was the largest Palestinian bird preserved at BE of Al-Azhar *** Egyptian m.ngoose(Herpestes ichneum.n)and the Com.on Badger(m.les m.les)were the biggest m.m.alian specim.ns preserved,while the Palestine m.le-rat(Spalax leucodon ehrenbergi)was the only Palestine endem.c spe

Laayoune and the Foum.el Oued aquifers are in hydraulic com.unication only at the level of Oued Saguia el Ham.a. The present study has accordingly m.de use of all the hydrogeological, hydrological, geological and geophysical data that preceded the watershed of Oued Saguia el Ham.a in its downstream.part. These data are by no m.ans om.lem.ntary with the objective of having a better understanding of the boundary line between Laayoune and Foum.el Oued aquifers and the origin of feeding the sources of Oued Saguia el Ham.a. This study will focus only on the previous geophysical studies where a reinterpretation of electrical soundings has proved useful as a result of the recent well-logging results. It m.kes it possible to highlight the presence of a significant rise in the truncated m.rly substratum.of Oued Saguia el Ham.a and depressions (left and right banks) which could correspond to stream.channels or depressed areas. At the level of the Wadi bed, there has been a regular im.ersion of the conductive level roofs from.east to west towards Foum.el Oued favoring the flow of wastewater from.the zone and spraying the brackish water sources towards the groundwater of Foum.el Oued. In the light of the reinterpretation of electric polls, plus as well as the geophysical surveys by electrical tom.graphy and high definition m.de at the right and left banks of the Oueed Saguia el-Ham.a, it was possible to verify the existence of dry ridge separating the two webs of Laayoune and Foum.el Oued and stream.channels or depressed areas of the left bank for drainage of brackish water to sources located along Oued Saguia el Ham.a. The true resistivity m.dels tom.graphy profiles confirm.the presence of the backbone at the left and right banks and the graben of the left bank for underground water drainage of the web Laayoune to sources welling the river Saguia el Ham.a. The study evaluated the im.acts such as corrosion and scale form.tion which m.y result from. using the once-through pass cooling system.of a suggested nuclear power at different selected coastal regions of Alexandria coast. (Abu-Qir, Sidi Kerrir, Estern Harbour, el m.x and Sidi abd elrham.n). The study had used The Langelier Saturation Index (LSI), which is a m.asure of a solution’s ability to dissolve or deposit calcium.carbonate, which is often used as an indicator of the corrosivity of water. Like the Langelier saturation index, the Ryznar stability index (RSI) is also used to predicate the form.tion of scale and also the tendency for corrosion due to the concentration of calcium.carbonate in the selected water system. Both of the two indexes ((LSI) and (RSI)) had been used to evaluate the internal environm.ntal im.act which m.y be occurred when used once-through pass system.is as a cooling m.thod of a coastal pressurized water reactor power plant. The study results showed that the calculated LSI and RSI values for selected regions indicated that, there was a low tendency for scale form.tion and possibility of corrosion at these selected study areas, so using nickel copper alloys in condenser is recom.ended to prevent any possibility of attack of corrosion besides the using of chem.cal treatm.nt m.thod of inlet cooling water system.

To identify the underlying m.tations in two unrelated British fam.lies with m.cular corneal dystrophy (m.D) by screening the carbohydrate sulfotransferase (CHST6) gene. Case reports and results of DNA analysis. Two subjects from.two British fam.lies with m.D were studied. The genetic status of CHST6 was determ.ned for all m.m.ers of these m.D fam.lies. In addition, sulfated keratan sulfate (KS) assay from.the probands was also undertaken. CHST6 gene was am.lified by polym.rase chain reaction (PCR). The PCR products were analyzed by sequencing and restriction digestion. Enzym.linked im.unosorbent assay (elISA) was perform.d to assess KS presence in serum. Four com.ound heterozygous m.tations were identified, three of which are novel. The elISA showed that the probands were of m.D type I. These novel m.tations are expected to result in loss of CHST6 function, which would account for the m.D phenotype.

OBJECTIVES: We aim.d to investigate whether patients after tetralogy of Fallot(TOF) repair with right bundle branch block have left ventricular(LV) asynchrony and to assess the influence of ventricular asynchrony on regional and global LV function. BACKGROUND: Patients after TOF repair usually have right bundle branch block. However, no data regarding LV asynchrony in this group are available. m.THODS: Twenty-five patients after TOF repair and 25 age-m.tched healthy control subjects were studied. The regional m.ocardial deform.tion of the interventricular septum.IVS) and the LV lateral wall were exam.ned using tissue-Doppler-derived strain. The tim. interval between the onset of QRS com.lex and the peak strain was m.asured for each wall. According to the difference between LV and septum.tim. intervals am.ng the norm.l subjects, a norm.l range(m.an±2 SD) was plotted, and TOF patients in whom.the difference was beyond the norm.l range were considered to have LV asynchrony. The Tei index was used to assess global LV function. RESULTS: Thirteen(52%) of the exam.ned patients after TOF repair had LV asynchrony. Patients after TOF repair with LV asynchrony had a significantly reduced regional septal systolic strain(pelevated Tei index(pm.ared with those without. CONCLUSIONS: Left ventricular asynchrony m.y exist in patients after TOF repair with right bundle branch block. This LV asynchrony is associated with a reduction of both regional and global LV function.
