Recently,many researchers have tried to develop a robust,fast,and accurate *** algorithm is for eye-tracking and detecting pupil position in many applications such as head-mounted eye tracking,gaze-based human-computer interaction,medical applications(such as deaf and diabetes patients),and attention *** real-world conditions challenge the eye appearance,such as illumination,reflections,and *** the other hand,individual differences in eye physiology and other sources of noise,such as contact lenses or *** present work introduces a robust pupil detection algorithm with and higher accuracy than the previous attempts for real-time analytics *** proposed circular hough transform with morphing canny edge detection for Pupillometery(CHmCEP)algorithm can detect even the blurred or noisy images by using different filtering methods in the pre-processing or start phase to remove the blur and noise and finally the second filtering process before the circular Hough transform for the center fitting to make sure better *** performance of the proposed CHmCEP algorithm was tested against recent pupil detection *** and results show that the proposed CHmCEP algorithm achieved detection rates of 87.11,78.54,58,and 78 according to´Swirski,ExCuSe,Else,and labeled pupils in the wild(LPW)data sets,*** results show that the proposed approach performs better than the other pupil detection methods by a large margin by providing exact and robust pupil positions on challenging ordinary eye pictures.

Ordered proposition fusion based on consistency and uncertainty measurements

The fusion of ordered propositions is an important and widespread problem in artificial intelligence,but existing fusion methods have difficulty handling the fusion of ordered propositions. In this paper, we propose a solution based on consistency and uncertainty measurements. The main contributions of this paper are as follows. First, we propose the concept of convexity degree, mean, and center of basic support function to comprehensively describe the basic support function of ordered propositions. Second, we introduce entropy as a measure of uncertainty in the basic support function of ordered propositions. Third, we generalize the indeterminacy of the basic support function and propose a novel method to measure the consistency between two basic support functions. Finally, based on the above researches, we propose a novel algorithm for fusing ordered propositions. Theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

Optimization method to Determine Gross alpha-Beta in Water Samples Using Liquid Scintillation Counter

Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) is an adequate nuclear technique to determine radioactivity levels, as verified by this study for the determination of the gross alpha and beta activities of aqueous samples because of its simplicity and low associated cost comparison with other techniques. This paper discusses a new approach to the monitoring of gross alpha and gross beta activities in water. The method consists of using pulse decay discrimination (PDD) liquid scintillation counting LSC of 2 ml of the sample after conditioning with 12 ml of AB-Ultima Gold LSC cocktail, and PDD 139 condition. Different factors that affected on the counting efficiency were studied such as quench reaction, volume of sample, and type of vial. The gross alpha and gross beta particle activity measurement using 40K and 243Am with different activities concentration for efficiency determination. The calculated detection limits were 0.07 Bq/l and 0.12 Bq/l for gross alpha and gross beta respectively for 500 min measurements of samples produced by concentration of one liter of water.

The Ball and beam system(BBS)is an attractive laboratory experimental tool because of its inherent nonlinear and open-loop unstable *** an effective ball and beam system controller is a real challenge for researchers and *** this paper,the control design technique is investigated by using Intelligent Dynamic Inversion(IDI)method for this nonlinear and unstable *** proposed control law is an enhanced version of conventional Dynamic Inversion control incorporating an intelligent control element in *** moore-PenroseGeneralized Inverse(mPGI)is used to invert the prescribed constraint dynamics to realize the baseline control law.A sliding mode-based intelligent control element is further augmented with the baseline control to enhance the robustness against uncertainties,nonlinearities,and external *** semi-global asymptotic stability of IDI control is guaranteed in the sense of *** simulations and laboratory experiments are carried out on this ball and beam physical system to analyze the effectiveness of the *** addition to that,comparative analysis of RGDI control with classical Linear Quadratic Regulator and Fractional Order Controller are also presented on the experimental test bench.

The“terminal line”:a novel sign for the identification of distal mesorectum end during TmE for rectal cancer

Background:although the clinical importance of complete,intact total mesorectal excision(TmE)is the widely accepted standard for decreasing local recurrence of rectal cancer,the residual mesorectum still represents a significant component of resection margin *** study aimed to use a visible intraoperative sign to detect the distal mesorectal end to ensure complete inclusion of the mesorectum and avoid unnecessary ***:The distal mesorectum end was investigated retrospectively through a review of 124 operative videos at the Union Hospital of Fujian medical University(Fujian,China)and Cleveland Clinic(Ohio,USA)by two independent surgeons who were blinded to each ***,28 cadavers and 44 post-operative specimens were prospectively examined by hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining and masson’s staining to validate and confirm the findings of the retrospective *** and multivariate analyses were carried out to detect the independent factors that can affect the visualization of the distal mesorectal ***:The terminal line(TL)is the distal mesorectal end of the transabdominal and transanal TmE(taTmE)and appears as a remarkable pearly white fascial structure extending posteriorly from 2 to 10 o’*** examination revealed that the fascia propria of the rectum merges with the presacral fascia at the TL,beyond which the mesorectum ends,with no further downward *** the retrospective observation,the TL was seen in 56.6%of transabdominal TmE and 56.0%of taTmE *** approach and tumor distance from the anal verge were the independent variables that directly influenced the detection of the TL(P=0.03 and P=0.01).Conclusion: The TL is a visible sign where the transabdominal TmE should end and the taTmE should begin. Recognitionof the mesorectal end may impact the certainty of complete mesorectum inclusion. Further clinical trials are needed toconfirm the preliminary findings.

Urtica dioica is a perennial herb from the family of Urticaceae that is commonly known as stinging *** plant is widespread in Europe,Africa,America,and a part of Asia,as it adapts to different environments and climatic *** leaves,stalk,and bark of *** found applications in the field of nutrition,cosmetics,textile,pest control and *** this connection,bioactive chemical constituents such as flavonoids,phenolic acids,amino acids,carotenoids,and fatty acids have been isolated from the *** this review,we aim at providing an updated and comprehensive overview of the contributions in literature reporting computational,in vitro,pre-clinical and clini-cal data supporting the therapeutic applications of *** evidence shows that *** constituents and extracts can provide neuroprotective effects by acting through a combination of different molecular mecha-nisms,that are discussed in the *** findings could lay the basis for the identification and design of more effective tools against neurodegenerative diseases.

A discoid meniscus is a morphological abnormality wherein the meniscus loses its normal‘C’*** most patients are asymptomatic,patients might still present with symptoms such as locking,pain,swelling,or giving *** resonance imaging is usually needed for confirmation of *** on a constellation of factors,including clinical and radiological,different approaches are chosen for the management of discoid *** purpose of this review is to outline the treatment of discoid meniscus,starting from conservative approach,to the different surgical options for this *** Pubmed and Google Scholar databases were used for this *** discussing the treatment of discoid meniscus from 2018 to 2023 were *** there were 369 studies retrieved,and after removal of studies using the exclusion criteria,26 studies were included in this *** such as stability,presence of tear,and morphology can help with surgical *** approaches have been used to treat discoid meniscus,where the choice is tailored for each patient ***,factors that may positively impact patient outcomes include male sex,body mass indexmptom onsetmptomsal approach is partial meniscectomy with or without repair;however,recently,there has been an increased emphasis on discoid-preserving techniques such as meniscoplasty,meniscopexy,and meniscal allograft transplantation.

Hepatitis C:a successful story of cure

On September 23, the 2016 Lasker-DeBakey clinical medical research award ceremony was celebrated in New York City. This annual prize has been awarded by the Lasker Foundation for over 71 years, and it is the most prestigious biomedical award in the United States, popu- larly known as ＂America＇s Nobel Prize＂. Indeed, 87 Lasker laureates have received the Nobel Prize, including 41 within the last 30 years （one example is the Chinese pharmaceutical chemist Youyou Tu, who won the 2011 Lasker-DeBakey award and four years later received the Nobel Prize）. This year, the honor went to Ralf F. W. Bartenschlager （Heidelberg University, Germany）, Charles m. Rice （Rockefeller University, NY, USA）, and michael J. Sofia （Arbutus Biopharma, PA, USA） for the development of cell culture system to study the replication of Hepatitis C virus （HCV） and for the use of this system to develop drugs capable of eliminating Hepatitis C.

Precipitation in ni-35 at. pct Cr alloy

Precipitation study was carried out in ni-35 at. pct Cr alloy by measuring electrical resistivity at different ageing temperatures and long ageing times. During ageing, it was observed that electrical resistivity initially rose with ageing time and then fell after very long ageing at a constant temperature. The initial increase in resistivity during ageing may be attributed to the formation of GP zones/Cr-rich precipitates at early stages by nucleation process and decrease in resistivity, and after attaining a maximum, is due to the growth of precipitate particles and subsequently by coarsening of these precipitates. The results of electrical resistivity measurements during ageing were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis indicating the formation of a Cr-rich phase and a Cr3ni2 phase in the ni matrix.

Trabeculectomy with Ologen implant versus perfluoropropane gas bubble for open angle glaucoma in pseudophakic eyes

AIm:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of augmented trabeculotomy with Ologen versus perfluoropropane in management of pseudophakic ***:This is a comparative randomized study included 57 pseudophakic eyes of 57 patients with medically uncontrolled open angle glaucoma(OAG).Twentynine patients were allocated in group I(trabeculectomy with Ologen;trab-ologen group),while 28 patients were assigned in group II(trabeculectomy with perfluoropropane gas bubble;trab-C3 F8 gas bubble group).RESULTS:The intraocular pressure(IOP)was significantly reduced in both study groups at all postoperative follow up intervals(1 wk,3,6,12,18,24,30 and 36 mo,Pmean IOP values of both groups remained statistically insignificance during the early 12 months of follow ***,the trab-ologen group achieved a statistically significant reduction over the trab-C3 F8 gas bubble group during the last 24 months of follow ***:Augmentation of trabeculectomy with either Ologen implant or perfluoropropane gas bubble are associated with strict long term IOP control and evident safety in medically-uncontrolled pseudophakic eyes with OAG.
