An energetic nano-fiber composite based on polystyrene and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane fabricated via electrospinning technique

Electrospinning is a simple technique used to fabricate polymeric nano-fibrous *** nano-fibers have found a wide range of valuable applications in the biomedical ***,it has not been utilized with solid high explosives ***,the electrospinning technique has been used to fabricate polystyrene(PS)/1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane(RDX)composite *** governed electrospinning parameters,voltage,distance from the collector,flow rate,mandrel rotating speed,time,and solution concentration,that greatly affect the morphology of the obtained nanofibers were *** fabricated PS/RDX nano-fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffractometer(XRD),and fourier Transform Infrared(fTIR)*** impact and friction sensitivities of PS/RDX were also *** thermal behavior of the prepared composite and the pure materials were studied by the thermal gravimetric analysis technique(TGA).SEM results proved the fabrication of PS/RDX fibers in the nano-size via *** spectroscopy confirmed the existence of the characteristic functional groups of both PS and RDX in the composite *** sharp peaks showed the conversion of amorphous PS into crystalline shape via electrospinning and also confirmed the formation of PS/RDX *** PS fibers absorbed the heat and increased the onset decomposition of the pure RDX from 181.5 to 200.7℃in the case of PS/RDX ***,PS/RDX nano-fibers showed the relatively low impact and friction sensitivities of 100 J and 360 N *** results could introduce PS/RDX nanofibrous composite in the field of explosives detection with high levels of safety.

Simulation-based environmental-impact assessment of glycerol-to-hydrogen conversion technologies

This simulation-based comparative assessment aims to quantify the environmental and human-health impacts of greener hydrogen(H2)production via three glycerol-based technologies,including:supercritical water reforming(SCWR),aqueous-phase reforming(APR)and autothermal reforming(ATR).The GaBi(2018 edition)life-cycle assessment(LCA)platform is used to develop cradle-to-gate product system models for these technologies and the TRACI 2.1 methodology is used to quantify their midpoint impact *** HYSYS(v11)process-simulation software is used to generate the life-cycle inventory(LCI)primary data required to produce 1 kg of H2 via each of the indicated glycerol-reforming *** ISO 14040:2006 reporting requirements for the LCA results interpretation step,three base case(BC)scenarios and four sensitivity scenarios(SS)are developed and quantified to compare the effects of different process electricity sources(US grid mix versus wind power)and thermal energy sources(natural gas versus biogas)on the LCA *** high operating pressure(viz.240 bar)of SCWR enabled assessment of the impact of in situ electricity generation to offset some of electricity required for this *** major insights from this research are as follows:(i)per 1 kg of produced H2,APR reduces CO_(2) emissions by≈95%compared to ATR and by≈92%compared to SCWR,(ii)for BC scenarios,the primary energy consumption(in MJ/kg of produced H2)is in the following order from highest to lowest:ATR>SCWR>APR and(iii)H2 production via glycerol APR is more environmentally sustainable than SCWR and ATR,and thus offers a promising path for greener H2 *** environmental sustainability studies should focus on expanding the scope of this study to include H2 production via water electrolysis using renewable electricity sources and via solar and nuclear-driven thermochemical water splitting.

Vitamin D deficiency: Correlation to interleukin-17, interleukin-23 and PⅢNP in hepatitis C virus genotype 4

AIM: To assess vitamin D (Vit D) abnormalities in hepatitis C infected patients and their relationship with interleukin (IL)-17, IL-23 and N-terminal propeptide of type Ⅲ pro-collagen (PⅢNP) as immune response mediators. METHODS: The study was conducted on 50 Egyptian patients (36 male, 14 female) with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, who visited the Hepatology Outpatient Clinic in the Endemic Disease Hospital at Cairo University. Patients were compared with 25 ageand sexmatched healthy individuals. Inclusion criteria were based on a history of liver disease with HCV genotype 4 (HCV-4) infection (as new patients or under followup). Based on ultrasonography, patients were classified into four subgroups; 14 with bright hepatomegaly; 11 with perihepatic fibrosis; 11 with hepatic cirrhosis; and 14 with cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Total Vit D (i.e., 25-OH-Vit D) and active Vit D [i.e., 1,25-(OH) 2 -Vit D] assays were carried out using commercial kits. IL-17, IL-23 and PⅢNP levels were assayed using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kits, while HCV virus was measured by quantitative and qualitative polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Levels of Vit D and its active form were significantly lower in advanced liver disease (hepatic cirrhosis and/or carcinoma) patients, compared to those with bright hepatomegaly and perihepatic fibrosis. IL-17, IL-23 and PⅢNP levels were markedly increased in HCV patients and correlated with the progression of hepatic damage. The decrease in Vit D and active Vit D was concomitant with an increase in viral load, as well as levels of IL-17, IL-23 and PⅢNP among all subgroups of HCV-infected patients, compared to normal healthy controls. A significant negative correlation was evident between active Vit D and each of IL-17, IL-23 and PⅢNP (r = -0.679, -0.801 and -0.920 at P fected men and women showed no differences with respect to Vit D levels. The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the entire world and has put forth high demand for techniques that remotely manage crowd-related *** surveillance and crowd management using video analysis techniques have significantly impacted today’s research,and numerous applications have been developed in this *** research proposed an anomaly detection technique applied to Umrah videos in Kaaba during the COVID-19 pandemic through sparse crowd *** theKaaba rituals is crucial since the crowd gathers from around the world and requires proper analysis during these days of the *** Umrah videos are analyzed,and a system is devised that can track and monitor the crowd flow in *** crowd in these videos is sparse due to the pandemic,and we have developed a technique to track the maximum crowd flow and detect any object(person)moving in the direction unlikely of the major *** have detected abnormal movement by creating the histograms for the vertical and horizontal flows and applying thresholds to identify the non-majority *** algorithm aims to analyze the crowd through video surveillance and timely detect any abnormal activity tomaintain a smooth crowd flowinKaaba during the pandemic.

Remote ischemic conditioning approach for the treatment of ischemic stroke

Stroke is the leading cause of disability and death in North *** has been growing interest in identifying neuroprotective strategies to reduce ischemic burden in patients with acute ischemic ***,despite extensive clinical trials,no neuroprotective agent has been found for prevention of ischemic *** ischemic preconditioning(RIC)is a promising non-invasive strategy that has been proven to provide renal and cardioprotection and has recently found to have a potential broad application in the treatment of neurovascular disease,which has bee linked to its possible effects on the release and activation of endogenous neuroprotective substances against the ischemia/reperfusion injuries in experimental *** endogenous neuroprotection might vaccinate neural tissues against effects of acute IR following primary infarction *** of the method of RIC administration,through manual or automated blood pressure cuff,RIC procedure is inexpensive and easy to *** on the experimental and clinical data,application of RIC avoids possible adverse effects and interactions associated with chemical pharmacological *** previous clinical studies RIC was safe and associated with only minor transient adverse effects in few cases,including petechia and minor limb pain,which were mostly resolved shortly after completing the treatment.

Infrared, Diffuse Reflectance and Dielectric Studies ofAntimony Trisulphide

Infrared absorption spectra of orange, black and transferred Sb//2S//3 samples have been studied in the spectral range 200-4000 cm** minus **1. The pronounced difference between the different samples is the appearance of excess sulphur present in the orange and transferred samples except those of transferred at 543 K and the black Sb//2S//3. The change of sharpness of some IR peaks reveals the amorphous/crystalline change. The effect of the degree of crystallinity and stoichiometry on the energy gap values was investigated by using optical method. The obtained dielectric parameters epsilon prime and epsilon double prime of the different samples are thoroughly affected by the degree of crystallinity and smoothly affected by either the frequency or the temperature or both, except at lower frequencies. New optically active poly(amide-imide)s derived from N,N'-(4,4-diphthaloyl)-bis-L-leucine and hydantoin derivatives:Synthesis and properties

Six new optically active poly（amide-imide）s （5a-f） were synthesized through the direct polycondensation reaction of N,N′-（4,4′- diphthaloyl）-bis-L-leucine （3） with six hydantoin derivatives （4a-f）. Tripbenyl phosphite （TPP）/pyridine in the presence of calcium chloride （CaCl2） and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone （NMP） were successfully applied for direct polycondensation. The polycondensation reactions produce a series of new poly（amide-imide）s （5a-f） in high yields, and inherent viscosity between 0.42 and 0,55 dL/g. The resulting poly（amide-imide）s （5a-f） were characterized by elemental analysis, viscosity measurements, thermal gravimetric analysis （TGA and DTG）, solubility test and fT-IR spectroscopy.

OPTICALLY ACTIVE AND fLAME-RETARDANT POLY(AMIDE-IMIDE)S BASED ON PHOSPHINE OXIDE MOIETY AND N,N′-(PYROMELLITOYL)BIS-L-AMINO ACID IN THE MAIN CHAIN:SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION

Six new optically active and flame-retardant poly（amide-imide）s PAls 5a-5f containing phosphine oxide moiety as a flame-retardant unit in the main chain were synthesized from direct polycondensation reaction of six chiral N,N＇-（pyromellitoyl）-bis-L-amino acid 3a-3f with bis（3-aminophenyl）phenyl phosphine oxide 4 in a medium consisting of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone （NMP）, triphenyl phosphite （TPP）, calcium chloride （CaCl2） and pyridine. The polymerization reactions produced a series of optically active poly（amide-imide）s with good yield and good inherent viscosity of 0.34-0.70 dLg^-1. The resulted polymers were fully characterized by means of fTIR and ^1H-NMR spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography （GPC）, elemental analyses, inherent viscosity and solubility tests. Thermal properties and flameretardant behavior of the PAIs 5a-5f were investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis （TGA and DTG） and limiting oxygen index （LOI）. Data obtained by thermal analysis （TGA and DTG） revealed that these polymers showed good thermal stability. furthermore, high char yield in TGA and good LOI values indicated that the resulting polymers were capable of exhibiting good flame retardant properties. N,N＇-（pyromellitoyl）-bis-L-amino acids 3a-3f were prepared in quantitative yields by the condensation reaction of pyromellitic dianhydride （1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylicacid-1,2,4,5-dianhydride） 1 with L-alanine 2a, L-valine 2b, L-leucine 2c, L-isoleucine 2d, L-phenyl alanine 2e and L-2-aminobutyric acid 2f in acetic acid solution.

Six dicarboxylic acids 3a-3f were synthesized dianhydride 1 with L-aminoacids 2a-2f in a solution of glacial new poly（amide-imide）s PAIs were synthesized from by the reaction of 3,3＇,4,4＇-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acetic acid/pyridine （Py） at refluxing temperature. Then six the direct polycondensation reaction of [N,N＇-（4,4＇- carbonyldiphtaloyl）-bis-L-amino diacid]s with 1,5-bis（4-aminophenyl）penta-l,4-dien-3-one （APPD）. The polymerization reactions produced a series of new optically active PAls with high yield and good inherent viscosity.
