Two methods for separating the magnetospheric solar wind charge exchange soft X-ray emission from the diffuse X-ray background

Solar wind charge exchange(SWCX)is the process of solar wind high-valence ions exchanging charges with neutral components and generating soft ***,detecting the SWCX emission from the magnetosphere is proposed as a new technique to study the magnetosphere using panoramic soft X-ray *** better prepare for the data analysis of upcoming magnetospheric soft X-ray imaging missions,this paper compares the magnetospheric SWCX emission obtained by two methods in an XMM-Newton observation,during which the solar wind changed *** two methods differ in the data used to fit the diffuse X-ray background(DXB)parameters in spectral *** method adding data from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey(RASS)is called the RASS *** method using the quiet observation data is called the Quiet method,where quiet observations usually refer to observations made by the same satellite with the same target but under weaker solar wind *** show that the spectral compositions of magnetospheric SWCX emission obtained by the two methods are very similar,and the changes in intensity over time are highly consistent,although the intensity obtained by the RASS method is about 2.68±0.56 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)higher than that obtained by the Quiet *** the DXB intensity obtained by the RASS method is about 2.84±0.74 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)lower than that obtained by the Quiet method,and the linear correlation coefficient between the difference of SWCX and DXB obtained by the two methods in diffe rent energy band is close to-1,the diffe rences in magnetospheric SWCX can be fully attributed to the diffe rences in the fitted *** difference between the two methods is most significant when the energy is less than 0.7 keV,which is also the main energy band of SWCX *** addition,the difference between the two methods is not related to the SWCX intensity and,to some extent,to solar wind conditions,because SWCX intensity typically va ries with the

Evaluation on cutting performance of novel PDC cutter for pipe jacking machine

It is inevitable to cut reinforced concrete(RC)appeared in cross passage of city metro by cutting tools when constructing in densely populated *** previous cutters employed to cut RC are insufficient and easily damaged,so a new polycrystalline diamond compact(PDC)cutter is used to solve this *** on the theoretical analysis of cutting mechanism,both circular and tapered PDC cutters with cutting edge angle of 90and negative front rack angle of 10are used to cut *** peeling and breaking patterns of cutting concrete are proposed,the nodular and grainy chips are the preferred modes in cutting steel *** LS-DYNA is employed to investigate the cutting performance in *** simulation results show that the average and peak cutting forces increase with the growth of penetration depth,cutting speed,and roundness,and subsequently the recommended penetration depth less than 1.2 mm is obtained to cut RC due to the existence of steel ***,the linear cutting platform is adopted to investigate the force ability and damage state of PDC *** is concluded that the cutting force increases abruptly and fluctuates heavily when cutting the coarse *** patterns occurred in both numerical and experimental results are generally ***,the steel bar is pulled out and the PDC cutter is damaged at the penetration depth of 0.8 mm,while a good cut occurs at the penetration depth of 0.3 *** tapered PDC cutter with a relatively low cutting force is prone to be broken compared with circular PDC *** is suggested that the circular PDC cutter at the penetration depth of 0.3 mm should be used to cut RC in practical engineering.

Enhancing the tunneling magneto-Seebeck(TMS) ratio and uncovering its underlying mechanism are greatly demanded in spin *** magnitude and sign of the TMS effect depend on the type of atom and the stacking order of atoms at the ***,we demonstrate that TMS ratios can be effectively manipulated by altering heterogonous or homogeneous interface through decoration on the CoFeSi(001) surface inserted on the MgO insulating *** maximum TMS ratio of pure Co_(2)/O termination is 4565% at 800 ***,the TMS ratio of the FeSi/O termination has two peak values,of which the maximum could reach up to-3290% at 650 *** comparing two different atom arrangements at the interface,we reveal that the sign and symbol of the TMS ratio can be controlled by the temperature and different atomic configurations at the Co_(2)FeSi/MgO ***,the spin-Seebeck coefficient up to ~150 μV/K is also possible when we select suitable terminations and *** findings will provide useful insights into how to control the sign and symbol of the TMS ratio and accordingly stimulate the development field of magneto-thermoelectric power and spin caloritronic devices based on the magneto-Seebeck effect in Heusler-based metallic multilayers.

Revealing the correlation between adsorption energy and activation energy to predict the catalytic activity of metal oxides for HMX using DFT

Traditional selection of combustion catalysis is time-consuming and *** calculation is expected to resolve this *** adsorption energy of HMX and O atoms on 13 metal oxides was calculated using DMol3,since HMX and O are key substances in decomposition *** the relationship between the adsorption energy of HMX,O on metal oxides(TiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),PbO,CuO,Fe_(2)O_(3),Co_(3)O_(4),Bi_(2)O_(3),NiO)and experimental T30 values(time required for the decomposition depth of HMX to reach 30%)was depicted as volcano ***,the T30 values of other metal oxides was predicted based on their adsorption energy on volcano plot and validated by previous experimental ***,the adsorption energy of HMX on ZrO_(2)and MnO_(2)was predicted based on the linear relationship between surface energy and adsorption energy,and T30 values were estimated based on volcano *** apparent activation energy data of HMX/MgO,HMX/SnO_(2),HMX/ZrO_(2),and HMX/MnO_(2)obtained from DSC experiments are basically consistent with our predicted T30 values,indicating that it is feasible to predict the catalytic activity based on the adsorption calculation,and it is expected that these simple structural properties can predict adsorption energy to reduce the large quantities of computation and experiment cost.

Silica-modified Pt/TiO_(2) catalysts with tunable suppression of strong metal-support interaction for cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation

Tuning Strong Metal-support Interactions(SMSI)is a key strategy to obtain highly active catalysts,but conventional methods usually enable TiO_(x) encapsulation of noble metal components to minimize the exposure of noble *** study demonstrates a catalyst preparation method to modulate a weak encapsulation of Pt metal nanoparticles(NPs)with the supported TiO_(2),achieving the moderate suppression of SMSI *** introduction of silica inhibits this encapsulation,as reflected in the characterization results such as XPS and HRTEM,while the Ti^(4+) to Ti^(3+) conversion due to SMSI can still be found on the support ***,the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde(CAL)as a probe reaction revealed that once this encapsulation behavior was suppressed,the adsorption capacity of the catalyst for small molecules like H_(2) and CO was enhanced,which thereby improved the catalytic activity and facilitated the hydrogenation of ***,the introduction of SiO_(2) also changed the surface structure of the catalyst,which inhibited the occurrence of the acetal reaction and improved the conversion efficiency of C=O and C=C *** manipulation of SMSI formation and its consequence on the performance in catalytic hydrogenation reactions are discussed.

TaSe_(3)has garnered significant research interests due to its unique quasi-one-dimensional crystal structure,which gives rise to distinctive *** crystal structure search and first-principles calculations,we systematically investigated the pressure-induced structural and electronic phase transitions of quasi-one-dimensional TaSe_(3)up to 100 *** addition to the ambient pressure phase(P2_(1)/m-I),we identified three high-pressure phases:P2_(1)/m-II,Pnma,and *** the P2_(1)/m-I phase,the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling(SOC)results in significant SOC splitting and changes in the band inversion ***,band structure calculations for the three high-pressure phases indicate metallic natures,and the electron localization function suggests ionic bonding between Ta and Se *** electron-phonon coupling calculations reveal a superconducting critical temperature of approximately 6.4 K for the Pmma phase at 100 *** study provides valuable insights into the high-pressure electronic behavior of quasi-one-dimensional TaSe_(3).

Olefin polymerization is one of the most im portant chemical reactions in *** work presents a strategy that emphasizes the synergistic meta/poro-steric hindrance of N-aryl groups and electronic effects in newly synthesized neutral salicylaldiminato nickel *** nickel(Ⅱ)catalysts exhibit exceptional thermostability,ranging from 30℃to 130℃,demonstrating enhanced catalytic activities and broadly regulated polyethylene molecular weights(3-341 kg·mol^(-1))and controlled polymer branch density(2-102 brs/1000C).The preferred catalyst Ni3 with concerted steric and electronic effects enables the production of solid-state semi-crystalline polyethylene materials at temperatures below 90℃.Notably,Ni3 exhibits an impressive tolerance of 110℃and can withstand even the challenging polymerization temperature of 130℃,leading to the production of polyethylene wax and ***,functionalized polyethylene is produced.

Significantly Improved High-Temperature Energy Storage Performance of BOPP Films by Coating Nanoscale Inorganic Layer

Biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)is one of the most commonly used commercial capacitor films,but its upper operating temperature is below 105℃due to the sharply increased electrical conduction loss at high *** this study,growing an inorganic nanoscale coating layer onto the BOPP film's surface is proposed to suppress electrical conduction loss at high temperature,as well as increase its upper operating *** kinds of inorganic coating layers that have different energy band structure and dielectric property are grown onto the both surface of BOPP films,*** effect of inorganic coating layer on the high-temperature energy storage performance has been systematically *** favorable coating layer materials and appropriate thickness enable the BOPP films to have a significant improvement in high-temperature energy storage ***,when the aluminum nitride(AIN)acts as a coating layer,the AIN-BOPP-AIN sandwich-structured films possess a discharged energy density of 1.5 J cm^(-3)with an efficiency of 90%at 125℃,accompanying an outstandingly cyclic *** the discharged energy density and operation temperature are significantly enhanced,indicating that this efficient and facile method provides an important reference to improve the high-temperature energy storage performance of polymer-based dielectric films.
