Background: Risk stratification of long-term.outcom.s for patients undergoing Coronary artery bypass grafting has enorm.us potential clinical im.ortance. Aim. To develop risk stratification m.dels for predicting long-term.outcom.s following coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. m.thods: We retrospectively revised the electronic m.dical records of 2330 patients who underwent adult Cardiac surgery between August 2016 and Decem.er 2022 at m.dinah Cardiac Center, Saudi Arabia. Three hundred patients fulfilled the eligibility criteria of CABG operations with a com.lete follow-up period of at least 24 m.nths, and data reporting. The collected data included patient dem.graphics, com.rbidities, laboratory data, pharm.cotherapy, echocardiographic param.ters, procedural details, postoperative data, in-hospital outcom.s, and follow-up data. Our follow-up was depending on the clinical status (NYHA class), chest pain recurrence, m.dication dependence and echo follow-up. A univariate analysis was perform.d between each patient risk factor and the long-term.outcom. to determ.ne the preoperative, operative, and postoperative factors significantly associated with each long-term.outcom.. Then a m.ltivariable logistic regression analysis was perform.d with a stepwise, forward selection procedure. Significant (p m.nt of a m.ltivariable risk prediction m.del. Results: The incidence of all-cause m.rtality during hospital adm.ssion or follow-up period was 2.3%. Other long-term.outcom.s included all-cause recurrent hospitalization (9.8%), recurrent chest pain (2.4%), and the need for revascularization by using a stent in 5 (3.0%) patients. Thirteen (4.4%) patients suffered heart failure and they were on the m.xim.m.anti-failure m.dications. Influence of thyroid volum. reduction on absorbed dose in ^(131)I therapy studied by using Geant4 m.nte Carlo sim.lation

A sim.lation study has been perform.d to quantify the effect of volum. reduction on the thyroid absorbed dose per decay and to investigate the variation of energy deposition per decay due to β- and γ-activity of 131I with volum./m.ss of thyroid, for water, ICRP- and ICRU-soft tissue taken as thyroid m.terial. A m.nte Carlo m.del of the thyroid, in the Geant4 radiation transport sim.lation toolkit was constructed to com.ute the β- and γ-absorbed dose in the sim.lated thyroid phantom.for various values of its volum.. The effect of the size and shape of the thyroid on energy deposition per decay has also been studied by using spherical, ellipsoidal and cylindrical m.dels for the thyroid and varying its volum. in 1-25 cm. range. The relative differences of Geant4 results for different m.dels with each other and m.NP results lie well below 1.870%. The m.xim.m.relative difference am.ng the Geant4 estim.ted results for water with ICRP and ICRU soft tissues is not m.re than 0.225%. S-values for ellipsoidal, spherical and cylindrical thyroid m.dels were estim.ted and the relative difference with published results lies within 3.095%. The absorbed fraction values for beta particles show a good agreem.nt with published values within 2.105% deviation. The Geant4 based sim.lation results of absorbed fractions for gam.as again show a good agreem.nt with the corresponding m.NP and EGS4 results （±6.667%） but have 29.032% higher values than that of m.RD calculated values. Consistent with previous studies, the reduction of the thyroid volum. is found to have a substantial effect on the absorbed dose. Geant4 sim.lations confirm.dose dependence on the volum./m.ss of thyroid in agreem.nt with m.NP and EGS4 com.uted values but are substantially different from.m.RD8 data. Therefore, inclusion of size/m.ss dependence is indicated for 131I radiotherapy of the thyroid.

This paper presents a novel analysis for the solution of nonlinear age-structured prob- lem.which is of extrem. im.ortance in biological sciences. The presented m.del is very useful but quite com.licated. m.dified variational iteration m.thod （m.Im. coupled with auxiliary param.ter is used to cope with the com.lexity of the m.del which subse- quently shows better results as com.ared to som. existing results available in literature. Furtherm.re, an appropriate way is used for the identification of auxiliary param.ter by m.ans of residual function. Num.rical exam.les are presented for the analysis of the pro- posed algorithm. Graphical results along with the discussions re-confirm.the efficiency of proposed algorithm. The work proposes a new algorithm.where He＇s polynom.als and an auxiliary param.ter are m.rged with correction functional. The suggested schem. is im.lem.nted on nonlinear age-structured population m.dels. Graphs are plotted for the residual function that reflects the accuracy and convergence of the presented algorithm.

The effect of m.lting heat transfer on the two dim.nsional boundary layer flow of a m.cropolar fluid near a stagnation point em.edded in a porous m.dium.in the presence of internal heat generation/absorption is investigated. The governing non-linear partial differential equations describing the problem.are reduced to a system.of non-linear ordinary differential equations using sim.larity transform.tions solved num.rically using the Chebyshev spectral m.thod. Num.rical results for velocity, angular velocity and tem.erature profiles are shown graphically and discussed for different values of the inverse Darcy num.er, the heat generation/absorption param.ter, and the m.lting param.ter. The effects of the pertinent param.ters on the local skin-friction coefficient, the wall couple stress, and the local Nusselt num.er are tabulated and discussed. The results show that the inverse Darcy num.er has the effect of enhancing both velocity and tem.erature and suppressing angular velocity. It is also found that the local skin-friction coefficient decreases, while the local Nusselt num.er increases as the m.lting param.ter increases.

This work deals with the influence of therm.l radiation on the problem.of the m.xed convection thin film.flow and heat transfer of a m.cropolar fluid past a m.ving infinite vertical porous flat plate with a slip velocity. The fluid viscosity and the therm.l conductivity are assum.d to be the functions of tem.erature. The equations governing the flow are solved num.rically by the Chebyshev spectral m.thod for som. representative value of various param.ters. In com.arison with the previously published work, the excellent agreem.nt is shown. The effects of various param.ters on the velocity, the m.crorotation velocity, and the tem.erature profiles, as well as the skin-friction coefficient and the Nusselt num.er, are plotted and discussed.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection is a system.c disease that is im.licated in m.ltiple extrahepatic organ dysfunction contributing to its protean m.nifestations. HCV is associated with diverse extrahepatic disorders including atherosclerosis, glucose and lipid m.tabolic disturbances, alterations in the iron m.tabolic pathways, and lym.hoproliferative diseases over and above the traditional liver m.nifestations of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinom.. The orchestration between HCV m.jor proteins and the liver-m.scle-adipose axis, poses a m.jor burden on the global health of hum.n body organs, if not adequately addressed. The close and inseparable associations between chronic HCV infection, m.tabolic disease, and cardiovascular disorders are specifically im.ortant considering the increasing prevalence of obesity and m.tabolic syndrom., and their econom.c burden to patients, the healthcare system., and society. Cellular and m.lecular m.chanism. governing the interplay of these organs and tissues in health and disease are therefore of significant interest. The coexistence of m.tabolic disorders and chronic hepatitis C infection also enhances the progression to liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinom.. The presence of m.tabolic disorders is believed to influence the chronicity and virulence of HCV leading to liver disease progression. This com.rehensive review highlights current knowledge on the m.tabolic m.nifestations of hepatitis C and the potential pathways in which these m.tabolic changes can influence the natural history of the disease.

Study on X-ray em.ssion from.a low energy (1.8 kJ) plasm. focus devicepowered by a 9 μF capacitor bank, charged at 20 kV and giving peak discharge current of about 175kA by using a lead-inserted copper-tapered anode is reported. The X-ray yield in different energywindows is m.asured as a function of hydrogen filling pressure. The m.xim.m.yield in 4π-geom.try isfound to be (27.3+-1.1) J and corresponding wall plug efficiency for X-ray generation is 1.52+-0.06%. X-ray em.ssion, presum.bly due to bom.arding activity of electrons in current sheath at theanode tip was dom.nant, which is confirm.d by the pinhole im.ges. The feasibility of the device asan intense X-ray source for radiography is dem.nstrated.

AIm. To report the surgical outcom.s of correcting large angle interm.ttent exotropia in adult patients by bilateral lateral rectus m.scle recession with intraoperative use of botulinum.toxin and to com.are the results with those of bilateral lateral rectus m.scle recession and unilateral m.dial rectus resection. m.THODS: The m.dical records of patients who underwent surgical correction of large angle interm.ttent exotropia [exotropia >50 prism.dioptre(PD)] were retrospectively reviewed. Two groups of patients were identified;Group Ⅰ(21 patients) had bilateral lateral recti recession augm.nted with intraoperative botulinum.toxin A(BTA) injection into the recessed m.scles and group Ⅱ(30 patients) were treated by bilateral lateral recti recession with unilateral m.dial rectus m.scle resection. Preoperative data were extracted for age, gender, refraction, type of exotropia, angle of stereopsis and angle of deviation. The m.in outcom. m.asures were the postoperative angle of deviation and stereoacuity angle by Titm.s test m.asured at the end of one year of postoperative follow up. RESULTS: By the end of the first postoperative year, 10 patients in group Ⅰ(47.6%) and 20 patients in group Ⅱ(66.7%) achieved esotropia/esophoria m.roved stereopsis;this difference in the sensory outcom. was not statistically significant(P=0.8). In the BTA augm.nted surgery group, good stereoacuity and sm.ller preoperative angle of deviation were associated with significantly higher surgical success rate(P=0.004, 0.01 respectively). CONCLUSION: BTA augm.nted bilateral lateral recti recession is associated with higher rate of undercorrection as com.ared to bilateral lateral recti recession with unilater
