Background Hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection remains a global public health problem and it is an important cause of acute,chronic and fulminant hepatitis,liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular *** prevalence of HBV infection in Hong Kong over the past decade remained unchanged at 10%,despite the implementation of universal neonatal and availability of adult *** suspect that the current state of affairs is attributable to inadequate awareness and knowledge of HBV transmission and prevention in the general population,resulting in a low rate of uptake of HBV vaccination by the lay ***,we have embarked in this study to evaluate the awareness and knowledge on HBV infection in our local Chinese population,their attitude on the prevention of horizontal transmission of HBV,and the use of HBV vaccination,especially in those who were born before the era of universal neonatal *** The factors associated with HBV screening,vaccination uptake,and knowledge were examined in a face-to-face questionnaire survey on a group of adult Chinese in Hong *** Within this group,14% was considered to have good knowledge for HBV infection,and 26% had HBV ***,occupation,having children,and family monthly income,are independent factors associated with *** This study suggests insufficient public awareness of HBV infection in the Hong Kong Adult Chinese population.

Endometriosis is a common and benign angiogenesisdependent gynecological disorder,which refers to the proliferation and growth of endometrium-like tissues with neovasculature formation outside of the uterus.1 Available medical treatments for endometriosis containing hormonal and non-hormonal treatments had been limited for longterm usage by their side effects.2 Ideal medical treatment for endometriosis with efficacy to relieve symptoms and suppress endometriotic lesion growth and minimal side effects has been longing for decades.3 Angiogenesis is a promising therapeutic target for endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a common chronic gynecological disease with endometrial cell implantation outside the *** is a major pathophysiology in *** previous studies have demonstrated that the prodrug of epigallocatechin gallate(ProEGCG)exhibits superior anti-endometriotic and anti-angiogenic effects compared to epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG).However,their direct binding targets and underlying mechanisms for the differential effects remain *** this study,we demonstrated that oral ProEGCG can be effective in preventing and treating ***,1D and 2D Proteome Integral Solubility Alteration assay-based chemical proteomics identified metadherin(MTDH)and PX domain containing serine/threonine kinase-like(PXK)as novel binding targets of EGCG and ProEGCG,*** simulation and BioLayer interferometry were used to confirm their binding *** results showed that MTDH-EGCG inhibited protein kinase B(Akt)-mediated angiogenesis,while PXK-ProEGCG inhibited epidermal growth factor(EGF)-mediated angiogenesis via the EGF/hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF-1a)/vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)*** vitro and in vivo knockdown assays and microvascular network imaging further confirmed the involvement of these signaling ***,our study demonstrated that ProEGCG has superior therapeutic effects than EGCG by targeting distinct signal transduction pathways and may act as a novel antiangiogenic therapy for endometriosis.

The halide migration effect in mixed-halide lead-based perovskite is a serious problem hindering the development of its display *** this study,we have successfully addressed this issue by reporting formadinium(FA)doped mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)with ultra-deep-blue emission of 450 nm,narrow bandwidth of 16 nm,and a high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of 66%.The perovskite nanocrystal light-emitting diodes(NC-LEDs)using this nanocrystal as an active layer achieved a maximum external quantum efficiency(EQE)of 0.32%,30-fold improved compared to that of pristine and stable electroluminescence(EL)spectra at 450 nm under a 4.9–8.0 V *** findings demonstrate the potential of our approach in developing stable and efficient deep blue perovskite NC-LEDs.

AIM:To compare the vergence mechanisms between good and poor sleepers in university ***:A total of 64 university students were recruited in this *** validated Malay version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire(PSQI-M)was used to measure the participants’sleep quality over the past *** were categorized as good sleepers(n=32)and poor sleepers(n=32)based on the PSQI-M *** and fusional vergences were measured at distance and ***-Whitney U test was used to compare heterophoria,negative fusional vergence(NFV),and positive fusional vergence(PFV)at distance and near between good and poor *** correlation analysis was used to study the relationship between PSQI-M score and PFV at ***:Both distance and near heterophorias were not significantly different between good and poor sleepers(P>0.05).There was a difference in distance PFV(P0.05).Distance PFV was negatively correlated with PSQI-M score(rs=-0.33,P<0.05).CONCLUSION:University students with poor sleep quality demonstrates a reduced ability to maintain fusion with increasing convergence demand at *** quality assessment during binocular vision examination in university students is recommended.

BACKGROUND:This study aimed to evaluate the discriminatory performance of 11 vital sign-based early warning scores(EWSs)and three shock indices in early sepsis prediction in the emergency department(ED).METHODS:We performed a retrospective study on consecutive adult patients with an infection over 3 months in a public ED in Hong *** primary outcome was sepsis(Sepsis-3 definition)within 48 h of ED *** c-statistics and the DeLong test,we compared 11 EWSs,including the National Early Warning Score 2(NEWS2),Modified Early Warning Score,and Worthing Physiological Scoring System(WPS),etc.,and three shock indices(the shock index[SI],modified shock index[MSI],and diastolic shock index[DSI]),with Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome(SIRS)and quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(qSOFA)in predicting the primary outcome,intensive care unit admission,and mortality at different time ***:We analyzed 601 patients,of whom 166(27.6%)developed ***2 had the highest point estimate(area under the receiver operating characteristic curve[AUROC]0.75,95%CI 0.70-0.79)and was significantly better than SIRS,qSOFA,other EWSs and shock indices,except WPS,at predicting the primary ***,the pooled sensitivity and specificity of NEWS2≥5 for the prediction of sepsis were 0.45(95%CI 0.37-0.52)and 0.88(95%CI 0.85-0.91),*** discriminatory performance of all EWSs and shock indices declined when used to predict mortality at a more remote time ***:NEWS2 compared favorably with other EWSs and shock indices in early sepsis prediction but its low sensitivity at the usual cut-off point requires further modification for sepsis screening.

For centuries,educators and psychologists have advocated“play”as the ideal activity for the development of young ***,play has been found currently to be the central pedagogy in the learning of young children in 21 countries in the ***,the quality of play-based pedagogy is becoming a key concern across *** found that play is either too loosely framed to result in children’s optimal development;or it is too“teacherly”and looses the essence of *** recent report released by OECD highlighted its concern about play in early childhood education and,urged international researchers and educators to make efforts to bridge the *** Kong is not an exception on the issue of play *** resources have been put in for the professional upgrading of early education teachers in the last two decades,the learning and teaching style is still didactic and there appears to be a misinterpretation of play-based *** present paper attempts to explore the issue through early childhood teachers’conceptualization of“learning and teaching through play”with the aim of understanding the problem and shedding light for better ways to prepare teachers in this sector.
