Seminal plasma anti-müllerian hormone level correlates with semen parameters but does not predict success of testicular sperm extraction （TESE）

Aim： To assess seminal plasma anti-müllerian hormone （AmH） level relationships in fertile and infertile males. methods： Eighty-four male cases were studied and divided into four groups： fertile normozoospermia （n = 16）, oligoastheno- teratozoospermia （n = 15）, obstructive azoospermia （OA）（n = 13） and non-obstructive azoospermia （NOA）（n = 40）. Conventional semen analysis was done for all cases. Testicular biopsy was done with histopathology and fresh tissue examination for testicular sperm extraction （TESE） in NOA cases. NOA group was subdivided according to TESE results into unsuccessful TESE （n = 19） and successful TESE （n = 21）. Seminal plasma AmH was estimated by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） and serum follicular stimulating hormone （FSH） was estimated in NOA cases only by radioimmunoassay （RIA）. Results： mean seminal AmH was significantly higher in fertile group than in oligoasthenoteratozoospermia with significance （41.5±10.9 pmol/L vs. 30.5±10.3 pmol/L, P 〈 0.05）. Seminal AmH was not detected in any OA patients. Seminal AmH wascorrelated positively with testicular volume （r = 0.329, P = 0.005）, sperm count （r = 0.483, P = 0.007）, sperm motility percent （r = 0.419, P = 0.021） and negatively with sperm abnormal forms percent （r = -0.413, p = 0.023）. Nonsignificant correlation was evident with age （r = -0.155, P = 0.414） and plasma FSH （ r = -0.014, P = 0.943）. In NOA cases, seminal AmH was detectable in 23/40 cases, 14 of them were successful TESE （57.5%） and was undetectable in 17/40 cases, 10 of them were unsuccessful TESE （58.2%）. Conclusion： Seminal plasma AmH is an absolute testicular marker being absent in all OA cases. However, seminal AmH has a poor predictability for successful testicular sperm retrieval in NOA cases.

Corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete elements causes minor to major damage in different *** may lead to spalling of concrete cover,reduction of section’s capacity and can alter the dynamic *** the dynamic properties,natural frequency is to be a reliable indicator of structural integrity that can be utilized in non-destructive corrosion *** the correlation between natural frequency and corrosion damage has been reflected in different experimental programs,few attempts have been made to investigate this relationship in forward modeling and/or structural health monitoring *** can be attributed to the limited available data,the complex nature of corrosion,and the involvement of multidisciplinaryﬁ***,this study presents a numerical attempt to simulate the effect of corrosion damage on the natural frequency of the *** approach relies on simulating the time history response of the structure using a modiﬁed Bouc-Wen model that incorporates the nonlinear effects of ***,modal analysis is utilized to assess the change in dynamic properties in the frequency ***ﬁnish up,regression algorithms are employed toﬁnd optimal relationship between involved parameters,including corrosion damage as input,and natural frequency as *** efﬁciency of the suggested framework is illustrated in thirteen buildings with cantilevered column lateral force-resisting system and different levels of corrosion.

Appropriate knowledge of the parental cultivars is a pre-requisite for a successful breeding *** study characterized fruit yield,quality attributes,and molecular variations of ten tomato cultivars during three consecutive generations under greenhouse *** 86,Castle Rock,and Red Star cultivars showed the highest fruit yield(kg/plant),total phenolic compounds(TPC),and sap *** component analysis categorized the evaluated fruit yield into three groups based on their quality attributes.A robust positive correlation appeared among traits inside each group.A positive correlation was likewise noticed between the first and the second ***,a negative correlation was detected between the first,the second and the third *** profiling,using seven inter-simple sequence repeat(ISSR)primers,produced 60 loci,including 49 polymorphic *** molecular analysis also pinpointed the highest genetic similarity(0.92)between P73 and moneymaker,while the lowest genetic similarity(0.46)was observed between Castle Rock and *** cultivars P73 and moneymaker showed the lowest genetic distance(2.24),while the highest genetic distance(5.92)was observed between Super marmand and Peto86,on the one hand,and between Castle Rock and moneymaker,on the other *** chemical analysis of fruit sap indicated the highest levels of TPC,total flavonoids,anthocyanin,ascorbic acid and total soluble solids in Peto 86 and Castle Rock *** analysis of tomato cultivars based on morphological and molecular attributes indicated four distinct *** 86,Castle Rock,and Red star cultivars can be recommended for the tomato hybridization breeding programs in the future,with other tomato cultivars as potentially high-yielding parents.

Twist Drill Evacuation of Chronic Subdural Hematoma in Comorbid Patients

Chronic Subdural Hematoma (CSDH) is one of the most common types of intracranial hemorrhage, and the prognosis is good if treated properly. The standard treatment for CSDH is surgical evacuation. Various surgical procedures are used such as burr holes evacuation, twist-drill craniostomy, and craniotomy. Our aim is to evaluate the feasibility and safety of twist dill as a first-choice treatment in evacuation of CSDH in comorbid patients. methods: This study is a prospective analysis of CSDH evacuation using two twist drill craniostomy holes and irrigation conducted on 21 patients with different comorbidities in Assuit University Hospital between may 2017 and may 2018. Results: The overall postoperative clinical improvement was 95.2%. The operative time was less than 10 minutes in 71.4% of the patients. 4 patients showed residual collection in the post-operative CT (19%). Pneumocephaly was detected in 2 patients (9.5%). Postoperative seizures occurred in 2 patients (9.5%), and subarachnoid hemorrhage was detected in one patient (4.7%). Conclusion: This approach is a new modification of twist drill craniostomy which can decrease the postoperative residual and recurrence rates and also still a minimally invasive and lifesaving technique in patients with different comorbidities.

A Squared-Chebyshev wavelet thresholding based 1D signal compression

In this paper a square wavelet thresholding method is proposed and evaluated as compared to the other classical wavelet thresholding methods (like soft and hard). The main advantage of this work is to design and implement a new wavelet thresholding method and evaluate it against other classical wavelet thresholding methods and hence search for the optimal wavelet mother function among the wide families with a suitable level of decomposition and followed by a novel thresholding method among the existing methods. This optimized method will be used to shrink the wavelet coefficients and yield an adequate compressed pressure signal prior to transmit it. While a comparison evaluation analysis is established, A new proposed procedure is used to compress a synthetic signal and obtain the optimal results through minimization the signal memory size and its transmission bandwidth. There are different performance indices to establish the comparison and evaluation process for signal compression;but the most well-known measuring scores are: NmSE, ESNR, and PDR. The obtained results showed the dominant of the square wavelet thresholding method against other methods using different measuring scores and hence the conclusion by the way for adopting this proposed novel wavelet thresholding method for 1D signal compression in future researches.

Chandelier-assisted scleral buckling using wide angle viewing contact lens for pseudophakic retinal detachment repair

AIm: To evaluate a modified technique for scleral buckling(SB) in pseudophakic retinal detachment(RD).mETHODS: A retrospective non-comparative study included 21 consecutive eyes with uncomplicated pseudophakic RD that was repaired by chandelier assisted SB using wide angle viewing(WAV) contact lens. Segmental tire alone was used in 5 eyes(23.81%), and combined with encircling band in 7 eyes(33.33%). Radial sponge alone was used in 3 eyes(14.29%) and combined with encircling band in 6 eyes(28.57%).RESULTS: Primary success rate was(90.48%). External drainage of subretinal fluid was performed in 8 eyes(38.1%). Intraoperative complications included vitreous prolapse at chandelier sclerotomy site in 4 eyes(19.05%) and localized subretinal hemorrhage at drainage site in one eye(4.76%). No case of intraocular lens(IOL) displacement, retinal incarceration or iatrogenic retinal tear was detected. Postoperative complications included choroidal detachment in one eye(4.76%), elevated intraocular pressure in 2 eyes(9.52%), epiretinal membrane formation in one eye(4.76%) and proliferative vitreoretinopathy in 3 eyes(14.29%). mean postoperative corrected distance visual acuity was 0.7±0.3 logmAR units. CONCLUSION: Chandelier-assisted SB using WAV contact lens is a reliable technique for repairing selected cases of simple pseudophakic RD.

Beam-like structures arde a class of common but important structures in *** the past few centuries,extensive research has been carried out to obtain the static and dynamic response of beam-like *** build-ing the finite element model to predict the response of these structures has proven to be effective,it is not always suitable in all the application cases because of high computational time or lack of *** paper proposes a novel approach to predict the deflection response of beam-like structures based on a deep neural net-work and the governing differential equation of Euler-Bernoulli *** Prandtl-Ishlinskii model is introduced as an element of prediction model to simu-late the plasticity of this beam *** the application of the proposed approach is demonstrated through four numerical examples including linear elastic/ideal plastic beam under concentrated/sinusoidal load and elastic/plastic continues beam under seismic load to demonstrate a proof of concept for the effectiveness of this AI-based approach.

One of the leading causes of mortality worldwide is liver *** earlier the detection of hepatic tumors,the lower the mortality *** paper introduces a computer-aided diagnosis system to extract hepatic tumors from computed tomography scans and classify them into malignant or benign *** hepatic tumors from computed tomography scans is considered a challenging task due to the fuzziness in the liver pixel range,intensity values overlap between the liver and neighboring organs,high noise from computed tomography scanner,and large variance in tumors *** proposed method consists of three main stages;liver segmentation using Fast Generalized Fuzzy C-means,tumor segmentation using dynamic thresholding,and the tumor’s classification into malignant/benign using support vector machines *** performance of the proposed system was evaluated using three liver benchmark datasets,which are mICCAI-Sliver07,LiTS17,and *** proposed computer adided diagnosis system achieved an average accuracy of 96.75%,sensetivity of 96.38%,specificity of 95.20%and Dice similarity coefficient of 95.13%.
