Modulation of the gear.mesh vibr.tion is a major.field of r.sear.h for.the condition monitor.ng of planetar. *** modulation cr.ates sidebands ar.und the gear.esh fr.quency in the vibr.tion spectr.m,and the distr.bution of these sidebands has been r.sear.hed in numer.us *** publications on the subject assume that the effect of the time var.ing signal pr.pagation delay between the main vibr.tion sour.e–the gear.mesh point(s)–and the(usually fixed)tr.nsducer.can be *** paper.investigates the validity of this *** do so,a planetar. gear.ox with a tr.nsducer.mounted on the(fixed)r.ng gear.is studied,and the effect of the pr.pagation delay is modelled as a phase modulation of the gear.mesh *** expr.ssions ar. then der.ved for.the distr.bution and str.ngth of the modulation sidebands,and these expr.ssions ar. applied to quantify the effect of the pr.pagation delay on five industr.al *** r.sults show that the amplitude of the sidebands is negligible and would not inter.er. with condition assessment based on analysis of the modulation of the gear.mesh fr.quency,and thus the pr.pagation delay can be neglected for.pr.ctical pur.oses.

The susceptibility of the nor.her. cor. r.otwor. Diabr.tica bar.er. （smith ＆ Lawr.nce） to mCr.3A and eCr.3.1Ab pr.teins der.ved fr.m Bacillus thur.ngiensis （Bt） was deter.ined using a diet bioassay. Nor.her. cor. r.otwor. neonates wer. exposed to differ.nt concentr.tions of mCr.3A and eCr.3.1Ab, incor.or.ted into ar.ificial diet. Lar.al mor.ality was evaluated after.7 d. The mCr.3A and eCr.3.1 Ab pr.teins wer. found to be toxic to the nor.her. cor. r.otwor. lar.ae. The LCs0 and LC99 values for.mCr.3A wer. 5.13 and 2482.31 μg/mL, r.spectively. For.eCr.3.1Ab, the LC50 and LC99 values wer. 0.49 and 213.01 μg/mL. Based on the estimated lethal concentr.tions, eCr.3, lab pr.tein was mor. efficacious to nor.her. cor. r.otwor. lar.ae than mCr.3A. These lethal concentr.tion values will be used as diagnostic doses for.r.utine annual monitor.ng for.change in susceptibility of field collected nor.her. cor. r.otwor. to mCr.3A, and eCr.3.1Ab toxins.

Ver.ical Axis Wind Tur.ines (VAWTs) with fixed pitch blades have a limited power.captur. per.or.ance envelope as the Tip Speed r.tio (TSr. changes. Cir.ulation Contr.l (CC) has been pr.posed and simulated to possibly incr.ase power.captur. of a VAWT using constant CC jet momentum, but a pr.ctical method of minimizing CC usage has yet to be explor.d. In addition, VAWTs ar. typically limited in power.captur. per.or.ance either.by a maximum peak at a small set of TSr.or.wide oper.ting TSr.at fr.ctions of the peak per.or.ance based on the design solidity. Both the r.duced jet usage and solidity limitation wer. addr.ssed by developing a method of dynamically using CC to per.or. a vir.ual solidity change. The developed method descr.bed within this wor. used CC to change blade aer.dynamics to specifically match a maximum per.or.ing static solidity or.wake shape at a given TSr. Simulation r.sults using an existing aer.dynamics model indicated a significant r.duction in the r.-quir.d CC jet momentum compar.d to a constant CC system along with contr.l over.power.captur. for.a CC-VAWT.
