Gel-polymer electrolytes with high thermal stability and mechanical properties were considered suitable in rechargeable batteries so as to overcome the problems encountered in liquid *** a previous study,flexible sodium-ion batteries(FSIBs)were fabri-cated using electrodes made of carbon quantum dots(CQDs)decorated with SnO_(2) and NaVO_(3) utilizing a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/P3HT gel-polymer electrolyte at a ratio of 1:*** addition,various separators such as indium-doped tin oxide/polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether(ITO/PTE),rice paper(RP),silicone with three big holes(SIL BH),silicone with many small holes(SIL SH)and cellulose paper(CP)were tested in flexible Na-ion *** SIL SH delivered a high specific discharge capacity of 4246 mAh g^(-1) in the initial cycle at 2 V and maintained a value of 71 mAh g^(-1) in the 50th *** the aim of improving the cyclic ability of FSIBs,different weight ratios of PVA/P3HT(1:0.025,1:0.05,1:0.1,1:0.15,1:0.2)were tried in this work using the electrodes CQDs@SnO_(2) and CQDs@NaVO_(3).The above ratios were referred to as B25,B50,B100,B150 and B200,*** SH was used as a *** voltammetry studies indicated that B150 had a high specific capacitance of 13062 F g^(-1).B25 and B100 exhibited high discharge capacities(171 mAh g^(-1))and(151 mAh g^(-1))compared to that of other ratios B50(75 mAh g^(-1)),B150(88 mAh g^(-1))and B200(54 mAh g^(-1))in the 50th cycle at 2.0 *** study reveals the scope of developing FSIBs of high capacity and cyclability at different voltages using carbonaceous electrodes and gel-polymer electrolytes with different ratios of PVA/*** focus of the present study is to bring out the optimum ratio of PVA/P3HT for maximizing the cyclic ability of FSIBs.

Carbonaceous materials with large interlayer spacing and disordered structure are considered suitable as electrodes in sodium-ion batteries so as to overcome the problem encountered in conventional *** this study,carbon quantum dots(CQDs)decorated with SnO_(2)and NaVO_(3)are used as electrodes in the fabrication of flexible Na-ion *** are prepared from dead leaves of the Samanea saman tree through alkaline-peroxide treatment and hydrothermal ***-prepared CQDs exhibit a quantum yield of 21.03%at an excitation wavelength of 360 *** separators such as indium-doped tin oxide/polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether(ITO/PTE),rice paper(RP),silicone with three big holes(SIL BH),silicone with many small holes(SIL SH)and cellulose paper(CP)have been tried in flexible Na-ion *** SH achieved higher specific capacitance(881 F g-1)than other separators due to the function of many small holes on the surface of the *** SIL SH separator delivered higher discharge capacities of 141 and 114 mC g-1 at 1.5 and 2.5 V than SIL *** RP separator delivered specific discharge capacities of 1087 and 347 mC g-1 in the 1st and 50th cycles,respectively,at 1 *** RP separator delivered a high initial specific discharge capacity of 698 mC g-1 at 2 V and maintained a good discharge capacity of 222 mC g-1 in the 50th *** compared to RP,SIL SH delivered high specific discharge capacity of 4246 in 1st cycle at 2 V but maintained a capacity of 71 mC g-1 in the 50th *** study reveals the scope of developing flexible Na-ion batteries with high capacity and cyclability using carbonaceous materials derived from the leaves of the *** tree.

Emergency department visits and hospital admissions in kidney transplant recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic:A hospitalbased study

BACKGROUND Several studies have demonstrated that the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has affected daily living and the healthcare *** previous study has described the consequences of COVID-19 on emergency department(ED)visits and hospital admission among kidney transplant(KT)*** To investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ED visits and hospital admissions within 1 year in patients who underwent KT in *** We conducted a retrospective study at a university hospital in *** reviewed the hospital records of KT patients who visited the ED during the outbreak of COVID-19(from January 2020 to December 2021).We used the previous 2 years as the control period in the *** obtained baseline demographics and ED visit characteristics for each KT *** outcomes of interest were ED visits and ED visits leading to hospital admission within the 1^(st)year following a *** rate of ED visits and ED visits leading to hospital admissions between the two periods were compared using the stratified Cox proportional hazards *** A total of 263 patients were included in this study:112 during the COVID-19 period and 151 during the control *** were 34 and 41 ED visits after KT in the COVID-19 and control periods,*** rate of first ED visit at 1 year was not significantly different in the COVID-19 period,compared with the control period[hazard ratio(HR)=1.02,95%confidence interval(CI):0.54-1.92;P=0.96].The hospital admission rate was similar between periods(HR=0.92,95%CI:0.50-1.69;P=0.78).CONCLUSION ED visits and hospital admissions within the 1st year in KT recipients were not affected by the COVID-19 *** these findings,we believe that communication between post-KT patients and healthcare providers is essential to highlight the importance of prompt ED visits for acute health conditions,particularly in post-KT patients.

Cardiac arrest poses a significant global public health challenge,manifesting in approximately 550,000 cases annually within the United States.[1]In-hospital cardiac arrest(IHCA)is commonly attributed to airways and respiratory issues.[2]Recommendations emphasize the expertise of responders in airway management.[3]Various options exist,such as chest compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR),bag-mask ventilation(BMV),and advanced *** BMV and advanced airways are not deemed equivalent or superior based on previous evidence.[4]Achieving consistency in choosing and timing the optimal airway approach during IHCA is *** current American Heart Association guidelines suggest an advanced airway strategy when endotracheal intubation(ETI)success rates are high,but the optimal time for advanced airway management remains unclear.[5]Wong et al[6]revealed that survival improved by less than 5 min with advanced airway *** to a subgroup analysis of IHCA patients in emergency departments(EDs),early intubation was associated with a 1.5-fold greater rate of return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC)than in other locations.[7]ED patients’constant monitoring and immediate management,with readily available intubation equipment,enhance early intubation and survival rates.[6]Nonetheless,IHCA patients intubated within the first 15 min had a lower ROSC rate.

FAIR Equivalency, Regulatory Framework and Adoption Potential of FAIR Guidelines in Health in Kenya

This study explored the regulatory framework in Kenya that may facilitate the implementation of the FAIR Guidelines in health research, as well as the possibility of adopting the FAIR Guidelines at the national level. Fourteen key documents pivotal to the emerging digital health sector in Kenya were identified and analysed using a comprehensive coding and labelling approach based on a binary system for whether or not they mention the FAIR Guidelines or terms and vocabulary related to the FAIR Guidelines. The analysis revealed gaps in data stewardship that could be filled by the implementation of the FAIR Guidelines and, although the documents analysed do not explicitly mention the FAIR Guidelines, FAIR Equivalent terminology and practices are mentioned in varying detail. However, our analysis shows that there are still no provisions for the introduction and implementation of the FAIR Guidelines in health research in Kenya. Therefore, we recommend that the leadership be provided with a comprehensive introduction to the FAIR Guidelines, success stories about the FAIRification of data and research infrastructure in other parts of the world, and a demonstration of the steps needed for the FAIRification of health data in Kenya.

Clinical benefits of corticosteroid administration during adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation:A systemic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The clinical benefits of steroid administration during cardiac arrest remain *** studies reported that patients who received steroids after achieving a return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC)had better outcomes,but few studies have investigated the benefits of steroid administration during *** hypothesized that administration of steroid during cardiac arrest would be associated with better clinical outcomes in adults with cardiac *** To investigate the effect of steroid administration during cardiac arrest and the outcomes of *** We included studies of participants older than 18 years of age who experienced cardiac arrest and included at least one arm that received corticosteroids during cardiac arrest.A literature search of PubMed and Embase on 31 January 2021 retrieved placebo-controlled studies without limitation for type,location,and initial presenting rhythm of cardiac *** study outcomes were reported by odds ratios(ORs)compared with *** primary outcome was survival rate at hospital *** outcomes included a sustained ROSC,survival rate at hospital admission,and neurological outcome at hospital *** Six studies including 146262 participants were selected for *** risk of bias ranged from low to high for randomized-controlled trials(RCTs)and low(for non-RCTs).Steroid administration was associated with increased survival at hospital discharge[OR:3.51,95%confidence interval(CI):1.98-6.20,P<0.001],and steroid administration during cardiac arrest was associated with both an increased rate of sustained ROSC(OR:1.81,95%CI:1.91-4.02,P<0.001)and a favorable neurological outcome at hospital discharge(OR:3.02,95%CI:1.26-7.24,P=0.01).CONCLUSION Steroid administration during cardiac arrest was associated with better outcomes of *** study of the use of steroid in the selected circumstances are warranted.

PTSD, depression and anxiety among tsunami affected people in Thailand: A population-based longitudinal study

Background: On December 26, 2004, Asian tsunami attacked the southern part of Thailand. The tsunami induced catastrophic consequences. There was no study of long-term mental health outcomes among adult survivors by natural disasters in Thailand. Objective: The purposes of the present study were to determine prevalence and longitudinal course of PTSD, depression, and anxiety among tsunami affecting Thai people, and to identify factors associated with PTSD, depression, and anxiety in this particular group. Material and Method: The present study was a population-based longitudinal study. The third mental health assessment was conducted among adult survivors older than 17 years at three years after tsunami. PTSD, depression and anxiety were assessed by using the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire (HTQ) and the Hopkins Checklist-25 (HSCL-25) respectively. Results: 550 of 693 affected people in Phang Nga province were enrolled in the follow-up survey at three years after tsunami. Prevalence of PTSD, anxiety, and depression among affected people decreased from 9.5% (66/693), 33.6% (233/693) and 25.7% (178/693), at two months after tsunami, to 2.6% (13/503), 18.7% (94/503), and 14.1% (71/503) at three years after tsunami respectively. Risk factors for mental health problems were post-traumatic life stress such as the loss of livelihood for PTSD, depression and anxiety, and pre-traumatic vulnerabilities such as sex (female), education, and previous mental illness for depression and anxiety. Conclusion: PTSD, depression and anxiety among tsunami affecting Thai people decreased over time. Pre-traumatic vulnerable factors and post-traumatic life stress were associated with PTSD, depression and anxiety. These results are acknowledgeable by two points: first, it is important to provide both mental health intervention and psychosocial intervention in rehabilitation phase for the affected people;second, duration of intervention should be at least three years after severely impacted disas
