The genus Lactarius Pers.(Russulales)is a cosmopolitan group of Basidiomycota that forms ectomycorrhizal relationships primarily with both deciduous and coniferous *** the genus has been well-studied in Europe and North America,only fragmentary researches have been carried out on Asian *** particular,the distribution of Lactarius species in South Korea is poorly understood due to insufficient morphological descriptions and a lack of DNA sequence *** addition,the misuse of European and North American names has added to confusion regarding the taxonomy of Asian Lactarius *** this study,the diversity of Lactarius in South Korea was evaluated by employing both morphological and phylogenetic approaches.A multi-locus phylogenetic analysis of 729 Lactarius specimens collected between 1960 and 2017 was performed using the internal transcribed spacer(ITS)region,partial nuclear ribosomal large subunit(nrLSU),partial second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II(rpb2),and minichromosome maintenance complex component 7(mcm7).49 Lactarius species were identified in three Lactarius subgenera:***(17 spp.),***(22 spp.),and ***(10 spp.).Among them,28 Lactarius species were identified as new to science,while just 17 were previously described Lactarius *** of the taxa remain un-named due to paucity of materials.A key to Korean Lactarius species,molecular phylogenies,a summary of diversity,and detailed description are provided.

Safety and efficacy of transradial coronary angiography and intervention in patients older than 80 years： from the Korean Transradial Intervention Prospective Registry

Background radial artery access for coronary procedures is a safe and beneficial technique. However, elderly patients have been considered as a higher risk group of access site related complications compared to younger patients. This study was conducted to investigate the feasibility and safety oftransradial coronary angiography or intervention in the elderly. Methods A total of 6132 patients from Korean Transradial Intervention Prospective Registry at 20 centers were analyzed. Patients were divided into the non-elderly group （n = 5667） and the elderly （_〉 80 years） group （n = 465）. Using propensity score matching, the elderly group （n = 465） was compared with one-to-one matched the non-elderly group （n = 465）. Results After propensity score matching, mean age was 64.3 ＋ 10.3 years in the non-elderly group and 83.5 -4- 3.3 years in the elderly group. There was no difference of procedural characteristics, procedural and fluoroscopic times. Access site cross-over rate was not different between the non-elderly group and elderly group （7.5% vs. 6.2%, P = 0.074）. Bleeding compli- cations occurred similarly in two groups （2.6% of the non-elderly group vs. 1.9% of the elderly group, P -~ 0.660）. Access site complications were 1.9% of the non-elderly group and 0.9% of the elderly group （P = 0.263）. Both of in hospital death and cardiovascular death for one year were also similar between two groups. Conclusions Transradial angiography or intervention was safe and feasible in elderly patients. Complication rates and clinical outcomes in elderly patients were comparable with those in non-elderly patients.

distribution of dinoflagellate cysts in Yellow Sea sediments

To investigate the distribution, abundance, and species composition of dinoflagellate cysts in the Yellow Sea, surface sediment samples were collected at 37 sites, including the Korean dump site. Twenty-one di- noflagellate cyst taxa were identified, with the assemblages dominated mainly by Spiniferites bulloideus, Operculodinium centrocarpum, and cyst of Alexandrium catenella/tarnarense type. A high frequency of O. centrocarpum in the Yellow Sea was observed for the first time, and it is likely that this can be attributed to the dynamics of the Yellow Sea Cold water Mass and the Changjiang （yangtze） River runoff. Total cyst concentrations ranged from 23 to 48 442 cysts/g dry weight, and high cyst concentrations were recorded adjacent to the dumping site. This result suggests that anthropogenic activities such as ocean dumping s- timulate the growth of dinoflagellates in the Yellow Sea, which in turn leads to high levels of dinoflagellate cyst production.

Comparative Study of Imaging Characteristics of I-125 Imaging Using the Siemens Inveon Scanner and Siemens Symbia TruePoint

Objective: Although Iodine-125 (125I) has been widely used for in vitro studies because of its relatively long half-life (60.1 days), 125I imaging is limited because of its low energy (27 - 35 keV), even in an animal-dedicated system. In this study, imaging characteristics of 125I were assessed using a small animal-dedicated imaging system and clinical scanner. Methods: Using the Siemens Inveon and Siemens Symbia TruePoint systems, imaging characteristics such as resolution, sensitivity, and image quality were compared. Mouse high resolution (MHR-0.5), mouse general purpose (MGP-1.0), and mouse high sensitivity (MHS-2.0) collimators were used for the Inveon scanner, and low energy high-resolution (LEHR) and low energy all-purpose (LEAP) collimators were used for the Symbia TruePoint. For animal imaging, 16.8 MBq of 125I was administered to BALB/c mice intravenously, and the planar image and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) were obtained using both scanners. Results: The resolution of 125I for the Inveon scanner was 3.98 mm full width at half maximum (FWHM) at a 30-mm distance with the MHR-0.5 collimator, and the value of Symbia scanner was 8.72 mm FWHM at a 30-mm distance with the LEHR collimator. The sensitivity of 125I for the Inveon scanner was 21.87 cps/MBq, and the value for the clinical scanner was 30.55 cps/MBq. The planar images of mice were successfully obtained at the level of evaluating specific binding in both scanners. Conclusion: 125I small animal imaging can be achieved with a clinical scanner. This result may enhance the utilization of 125I small animal imaging using a clinical scanner.

AIM To determine adiponectin expression in colonic tissue of murine colitis and systemic cytokine expression after melatonin treatments and sleep *** The following five groups of C57BL/6 mice were used in this study:(1) group Ⅰ,control;(2) group Ⅱ,2% DSS induced colitis for 7 d;(3) group Ⅲ,2% DSS induced colitis and melatonin treatment;(4) group Ⅳ,2% DSS induced colitis with sleep deprivation(SD) using specially designed and modified multiple platform water baths; and(5) group V,2% DSS induced colitis with SD and melatonin treatment. Melatonin(10 mg/kg) or saline was intraperitoneally injected daily to mice for 4 d. The body weight was monitored daily. The degree of colitis was evaluated histologically after sacrificing the mice. Immunohistochemical staining and Western blot analysis was performed using anti-adiponectin antibody. After sampling by intracardiac punctures,levels of serum cytokines were measured by ELISA. RESULTS Sleep deprivation in water bath exacerbated DSS induced colitis and worsened weight loss. Melatonin injection not only alleviated the severity of mucosal injury,but also helped survival during stressful condition. The expression level of adiponectin in mucosa was decreased in colitis,with the lowest level observed in colitis combined with sleep deprivation. Melatonin injection significantly(P diponectin. The expression levels of IL-6 and IL-17 were increased in the serum of mice with DSS colitis but decreased after melatonin injection. CONCLUSION This study suggested that melatonin modulated adiponectin expression in colonic tissue and melatonin and adiponectin synergistically potentiated antiinflammatory effects on colitis with sleep deprivation.

Effects of oxygen concentration and flow rate on cognitive ability and physiological responses in the elderly

The supply of highly concentrated oxygen positively affects cognitive processing in normal young adults. However, there have been few reports on changes in cognitive ability in elderly subjects following highly concentrated oxygen administration. This study investigated changes in cognitive ability, blood oxygen saturation （%）, and heart rate （beats/min） in normal elderly subjects at three different levels of oxygen [21% （1 L/min）, 93% （1 L/min）, and 93% （5 L/min）] administered during a 1-back task. Eight elderly male （75.3 ＋ 4.3 years old） and 10 female （71.1 ＋ 3.9 years old） subjects, who were normal in cognitive ability as shown by a score of more than 24 points in the Mini-Mental State Examination-Korea, participated in the experiment. The experiment consisted of an adaptation phase after the start of oxygen administration （3 minutes）, a control phase to obtain stable baseline measurements of heart rate and blood oxygen saturation before the task （2 minutes） and a task phase during which the 1-back task was performed （2 minutes）. Three levels of oxygen were administered throughout the three phases （7 minutes）. Blood oxygen saturation and heart rate were measured during each phase. Our results show that blood oxygen saturation increased, heart rate decreased, and response time in the 1-back task decreased as the concentration and amount of administered oxygen increased. This shows that administration of sufficient oxygen for optimal cognitive functioning increases blood oxygen saturation and decreases heart rate.

Background There were limited data comparing the major clinical outcomes between first-generation （1G）-drug eluting stentts （DES） and second-generation （2G）-DES in patients with acute myocardial infarction （AMI） after percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI） during very long follow-up periods. We thought to investigate the comparative efficacy and safety of 2G-DES compared with 1G-DES in AMI patients during 5-year follow-up periods. Method A total of 1016 eligible AMI patients who underwent PCI with 1G-DES [paclitaxel-, sirolimus-, 1G-zotarolimus-eluting stent （endeavor~ or endeavor sprintS）, n = 554] or 2G-DES [2G-zotarolimus （endeavor resolute~）- or everolimus-eluting stent, n = 462] were enrolled. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events （MACE） defined as total death, non-fatal myocardial infarction （MI）, target lesion revascularization （TLR）, target vessel revascularization （TVR）, non-target vessel revascularization （Non-TVR） and the secondary endpoint was stem thrombosis （ST） at 5 years. Results Two propensity score-ma- tched （PSM） groups （232 pairs, n = 464, C-statistic = 0.802） were generated. During the 5-year follow-up period, the cumulative incidence of TLR [hazard ratio （HR）： 3.133; 95% confidence interval （CI）： 1.539-6.376; P = 0.002], TVR （HR： 3.144; 95% CI： 1.59645.192; P = 0.001） and total revascularization rate （FIR： 1.874; 95% CI： 1.086-3.140; P = 0.023） were significantly higher in 1G-DES compared with 2G-DES after PSM. However, the incidence of total death, non-fatal MI and ST were similar between the two groups. Conclusion In this single-center and all-comers registry, 2G-DES＇s superiorities for TLR, TVP, and total revascularization in AMI patients suggested during 5-year clinical follow-up periods.

The Basidiomycota constitutes a major phylum of the kingdom Fungi and is second in species numbers to the *** present work provides an overview of all validly published,currently used basidiomycete genera to date in a single *** outline of all genera of Basidiomycota is provided,which includes 1928 currently used genera names,with 1263 synonyms,which are distributed in 241 families,68 orders,18 classes and four *** provide brief notes for each accepted genus including information on classification,number of accepted species,type species,life mode,habitat,distribution,and sequence ***,three phylogenetic analyses with combined LSU,SSU,5.8s,rpb1,rpb2,and ef1 datasets for the subphyla Agaricomycotina,Pucciniomycotina and Ustilaginomycotina are conducted,*** time estimates are provided to the family level with 632 species from 62 orders,168 families and 605 *** study indicates that the divergence times of the subphyla in Basidiomycota are 406-430 Mya,classes are 211-383 Mya,and orders are 99-323 Mya,which are largely consistent with previous *** this study,all phylogenetically supported families were dated,with the families of Agaricomycotina diverging from 27-178 Mya,Pucciniomycotina from 85-222 Mya,and Ustilaginomycotina from 79-177 *** times as additional criterion in ranking provide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic problems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system,and also provide a better understanding of their phylogeny and evolution.
