A Retrospective Analysis of.Intoxicated Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit: A Single-Institution Assessment in the Post-Pandemic Period

Background: The aim of.this study was to evaluate the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of.patients with acute intoxication admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). material and methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted on intoxicated patients who admitted to ICU between January 2022 and January 2024. data were collected f.om the patients medical records. The demographic characteristics, causes of.intoxications, clinical parameters, the mean stay in the ICU, treatment modalities and prognosis were recorded. Results: A total of.2875 critically ill patients were admitted during the study period, and 109 (3.79%) of.them were acute intoxications. Their mean of.ages was 38.09 ± 12.29. The f.male-to-male ratio was 1.37/1. Drugs were f.und to be the primary cause (62.39%) of.intoxications, and analgesics, antidepressants, and antibiotics were the most f.equent agents. Suicidal attempts were present in 66 patients, most of.them were f.male (62.13%) and between 17 - 24 years (40.91%). The other common causes of.intoxications were carbon monoxide (CO) (22.02%), methyl/ethyl alcohol (8.26%) and mushroom (5.50%). The mean stay in the ICU was 2.69 ± 0.89 days. mechanical ventilation was applied to 10 of.our patients. Renal replacement therapy was required in 6 patients. Despite all treatments, 6 of.our patients died, and we f.und the mortality rate to be 5.50%. Conclusion: Intoxications were more f.equent in young f.male patients and drugs were the most common cause with suicidal intent. Unf.rtunately, CO poisoning continues to be a very important problem in our city. These f.ndings provided signif.cant inf.rmation about the characteristics of.intoxications in Karabuk.

Background Retinopathy of.prematurity(ROP)is generally considered to be more f.equent in males than in ***,it is not known whether sex dif.erences in ROP af.ect all degrees of.the condition,are global and have changed as neonatology has *** aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of.studies addressing sex dif.erences in the risk of.developing *** Pubmed/mEDLINE and Embase databases were *** f.equentist,random-ef.ects risk ratio(RR)and 95%conf.dence interval(CI)were *** model averaged(BmA)meta-analysis was used to calculate the Bayes f.ctors(Bf.).The Bf.0 is the ratio of.the probability of.the data under the alternative hypothesis(H1)over the probability of.the data under the null hypothesis(H0).Results We included 205 studies(867,252 inf.nts).f.equentist meta-analysis showed a positive association between male sex and severe ROP(113 studies,RR=1.14,95%CI=1.07–1.22)but no association with any ROP(144 studies,RR=1.00,95%CI=0.96–1.03).BmA showed extreme evidence in f.vor of.H1 f.r severe ROP(Bf.0=71,174)and strong evidence in f.vor of.H0 f.r any ROP(Bf.0=0.05).The association between male sex and severe ROP remained stable over time and was present only in cohorts f.om countries with a high or high-middle sociodemographic *** Our study conf.rms the presence of.a male disadvantage in severe ROP but not in less severe f.rms of.the *** are variations in the sex dif.erences in ROP,depending on geographical location and sociodemographic level of.the countries.

Developing a biomaterial f.r wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(GO)were embedded in cast f.lms based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined f.r wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the f.bricated f.lms including X-ray dif.raction(XRD),f.urier transf.rm inf.ared spectroscopy(f.IR),Raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEm),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaf.old weight decreases slightly to 98.6%af.er raising the temperature f.om room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of.the surf.ce of.the modif.ed PCL which shows high biocompatibility.

A colliding microjet liquid sheet target system was developed and tested f.r pairs of.round nozzles of.10,11 and 18μm in *** sheet's position stability was f.und to be better than a f.w *** interaction with 50 mJ laser pulses,the 18μm jet has a resonance amplitude of.16μm at a repetition rate of.33 Hz,while towards 100 Hz it converges to 10μm f.r all nozzles.A white-light interf.rometric system was developed to measure the liquid sheet thickness in the target chamber both in air and in vacuum,with a measurement range of.182 nm±1μm and an accuracy of.3%.The overall shape and 3D shape of.the sheet f.llow the Hasson±Peck model in *** vacuum versus air,the sheet gradually loses 10%of.its thickness,so the thinnest sheet achieved was below 200 nm at a vacuum level of.10±4mbar,and remained stable f.r several hours of.operation.

Human health is intimately connected and tied to the health of.our environment and ecosystem,with only a very small f.action of.the risk f.r chronic diseases explained by genetics *** animals are prone to disease types that are shared with people,including cancers and endocrine disorders,reinf.rcing the thought that environmental f.ctors contribute to the risks f.r chronic *** f.ctors include air and water pollution and the built *** such,there is increasing interest in pursuing research with companion animals,and specif.cally dogs,as sentinel species to inf.rm comparative health assessments and identif. risk f.ctors f.r *** the canine diseases f.r which environmental exposure research has been published,cancers have received the most *** review summarizes two main aspects of.this comparative approach:(1)cancers that occur in dogs and which are similar to humans and(2)research investigating environmental exposures and health outcomes in *** goal of.this review is to highlight the diverse conditions in which pet dogs may provide unique perspectives and advantages to examine relationships between environmental exposures and health outcomes,with an emphasis on chemical pollution and ***,this review seeks to raise awareness and stimulate discussion around the best practices f.r the use of.companion animals as environmental health sentinels.

Phlogopite solid-solutions have a wide pressure-temperature(P-T)stability f.eld and are ubiquitous in a wide variety of.geological settings,f.om deep lithosphere magmatic environments to upper crust metamorphic *** composition represents theref.re a valuable physical-chemical archive and may provide important inf.rmation regarding its crystallization and the petrogenesis of.the *** this paper we examine the phlogopite phenocrysts f.om the well-known f.rt Regent mica-bearing lamprophyre minette f.om ***(Island of.Jersey,UK).Phlogopite phenocrystals f.om lamprophyres generally show normal-step and continuous compositional zoning,however those f.om the f.rt Regent minette show a peculiar texture characterized by dark brown high-Ti(average TiO_(2)≈8.5 wt.%)cores enveloped by euhedral low-to mid-amplitude zonation due to oscillatory contents in Ti,f. and ***-barometry modelling based on biotite-only composition yields relatively high P-T estimates(T≈970±54℃at P≈0.73±0.13 GPa)f.r cores whereas lower values(T≈790±54℃at P≈0.29±0.13 GPa)are obtained f.r the outer *** temperatures(T≈1075±54℃)but extremely high and anomalous pressure values(P≈1.82±0.13 GPa)are obtained f.r the yellowish inner *** combination of.electron micro probe(EmP)analysis and single-crystal inf.a-red(f.IR)imaging in the OH-stretching region shows that the exceptional and oscillatory Ti contents are due to the Ti-vacancy substitution,typical of.crystallization and growth processes of.HP/HT *** imaging provides additional insight f.r this process,conf.rming the dominant dioctahedral nature f.r the Ti-f.-rich cores and outer *** of.thermobaric estimates obtained f.om the phlogopite compositiononly model,based on the f.ne-scale compositional evolution,shows that pressure-temperature values f.om low-Ti high-mg domains should be caref.lly evaluated because the substitution mechanisms during the dark mica growth are not univocal

In this work,we use the(m+1/G')-expansion method and the Adomian decomposition method to study the 3D potential Yu-Toda-Sasa-f.kuyama(3D-pYTSf.equation which has a good application in the twolayer liquid *** the f.rst time,the(m+1/G')-expansion and the Adomian decomposition methods are used to establish novel exact wave solutions and to study some numerical solutions f.r the 3D-pYTSf.equation,*** using the analytical method,kink-type wave,singular solution and some complex solutions to the suggested equation are successf.lly *** obtained wave solutions are represented with some f.gures in 3D and contour plots.
