The relationship between Indian and East Asian summer rainfall variations is non-stationary in observations as well as in historical simulations of climate *** this non-stationarity due to changes in effects of external forcing or internal atmospheric processes？ Whilst ENSO is an important oceanic forcing of Indian and East Asian summer rainfall variations,its impacts cannot explain the observed long-term changes in the Indian-East Asian summer rainfall *** Carlo test indicates that the role of random processes cannot be totally excluded in the observed longterm changes of the *** of climate model outputs shows that the Indian-North China summer rainfall relationship displays obvious temporal variations in both individual and ensemble mean model simulations and large differences among model *** suggests an important role played by atmospheric internal variability in changes of the Indian-East Asian summer rainfall *** point of view is supported by results from a 100-years AGCM simulation with climatological SST specified in the global *** correlation between Indian and North China or southern Japan summer rainfall variations displays large fluctuations in the AGCM simulation

The present reported study investigated the persistence of snow anomalies over the Tibetan Plateau(TP) from the preceding seasons to summer and the relationship between the previous snow cover anomaly and summer precipitation over East Asia. The results showed that, relative to other snow indices, such as the station observational snow depth(SOSD) index and the snow water equivalent(SWE) index, the snow cover area proportion(SCAP) index calculated from the SWE and the percentage of visible snow of the Equal-Area Scalable Earth Grids(EASE-grids) dataset has a higher persistence in interannual anomalies, particularly from May to summer. As such, the May SCAP index is significantly related to summer precipitation over the Meiyu-Baiu region. The persistence of the SCAP index can partly explain the season-delayed effect of snow cover over the TP on summer rainfall over the Meiyu-Baiu region besides the contribution of the soil moisture bridge. The preceding SST anomaly in the tropical Indian Ocean and ENSO can persist through the summer and affect the summer precipitation over the Meiyu-Baiu region. However, the May SCAP index is mostly independent of the simultaneous SSTs in the tropical Indian Ocean and the preceding ENSO and may affect the summer precipitation over the Meiyu-Baiu region independent of the effects of the SST anomalies. Therefore, the May SCAP over the TP could be regarded as an important supplementary factor in the forecasting of summer precipitation over the Meiyu-Baiu region.

The present study documents the variability of surface sensible heat flux over Northwest China using station observations for the period 1961 *** is found that the afternoon and nighttime sensible heat flux variations are remarkably *** variability of the instant flux in the afternoon is much larger than in the *** afternoon and nighttime flux anomalies tend to be *** diurnal and seasonal dependence of sensible heat flux variations is closely related to the diurnal cycle of mean land-air temperature *** relationship of sensible heat flux with land-air temperature difference based on the instant value differs from that based on the daily *** present study indicates the importance for the models to properly simulate mean land-air temperature difference and its diurnal and seasonal variations in order to capture surface sensible heat flux variability over Northwest China and predicts its plausible impacts on climate.

This study investigates the origins of intraseasonal rainfall variations over the southern South China Sea（SCS） region in boreal *** is found that intraseasonal rainfall variations over the southern SCS have different origins on the 10-20-day and 30-60-day time *** the 10-20-day time scale,large rainfall anomalies over the southern SCS are preceded by strong northerly wind anomalies associated with the East Asian winter monsoon（EAWM）,by about two *** the 30-60-day time scale,the strong EAWM-related northerly wind anomalies almost appear simultaneously with large rainfall anomalies over the southern *** addition,obvious large rainfall anomalies occur over the southeastern tropical Indian Ocean about one week before the peak southern SCS rainfall *** indicates that the convection and related circulation anomalies with origins over the tropical Indian Ocean may play an important role in inducing intraseasonal rainfall variations over the southern SCS on the 30-60-day time scale,but not on the 10-20-day time scale.

Coking industry is a potential source of heavy metals(HMs)***,its impacts to the groundwater of surrounding residential areas have not been well *** study investigated the pollution characteristics and health risks of HMs in groundwater nearby a typical coking *** HMs including Fe,Zn,Mo,As,Cu,Ni,Cr,Pb and Cd were *** average concentration of total HMswas higher in the nearby area(244.27μg/L)than that of remote area away the coking plant(89.15μg/L).The spatial distribution of pollution indices including heavy metal pollution index(HPI),Nemerow index(NI)and contamination degree(CD),all demonstrated higher values at the nearby residential areas,suggesting coking activity could significantly impact the HMs distribution *** sources of HMs were identified by Positive Matrix Factorization(PMF)model,which indicated coal washing and coking emission were the dominant sources,accounted for 40.4%,and 31.0%,*** ingestionwas found to be the dominant exposure pathway with higher exposure dose to children than *** quotient(HQ)values were below 1.0,suggesting negligible non-carcinogenic health risks,while potential carcinogenic risks were from Pb and Ni with cancer risk(CR)values>10−*** Carlo simulation matched well with the calculated results with HMs concentrations to be the most sensitive *** study provides insights into understanding how the industrial coking activities can impact the HMs pollution characteristics in groundwater,thus facilitating the implement of HMs regulation in coking industries.

Generally speaking,the precursors of ozone(O_(3)),nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds are very low in desert areas due to the lack of anthropogenic emissions and natural emissions,and thus O_(3)concentrations are relatively ***,high summer background concentrations of about 100μg/m^(3)or 60 ppb were found in the Alxa Desert in the highland of northwest China based on continuous summer observations from 2019 to 2021,which was higher than the most of natural background areas or clean areas in world for summer O_(3)background *** high O_(3)background concentrations were related to surface features and ***-intensity anthropogenic activity areas in desert areas can cause increased O_(3)concentrations or pollution,but also generated O_(3)depleting substances such as nitrous oxide,which eventually reduced the regional O_(3)baseline *** dioxide(NO2)also had a dual effect on O_(3)generation,showing promotion at low concentrations and inhibition at high *** addition,sand-dust weather reduced O_(3)clearly,but O_(3)eventually stabilized around the background concentration values and did not vary with sand-dust particulate matter.

Retrospective analysis of pathological types and imaging features in pancreatic cancer: A comprehensive study

BACKGROUND Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide,with a poor prognosis often attributed to late *** the correlation between pathological type and imaging features is crucial for early detection and appropriate treatment *** To retrospectively analyze the relationship between different pathological types of pancreatic cancer and their corresponding imaging *** We retrospectively analyzed the data of 500 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer between January 2010 and December 2020 at our *** types were determined by histopathological examination of the surgical spe-cimens or biopsy *** imaging features were assessed using computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging,and endoscopic *** analyses were performed to identify significant associations between pathological types and specific imaging *** There were 320(64%)cases of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma,75(15%)of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms,50(10%)of neuroendocrine tumors,and 55(11%)of other rare *** imaging features were identified in each pathological *** ductal adenocarcinoma typically presents as a hypodense mass with poorly defined borders on computed tomography,whereas intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms present as characteristic cystic lesions with mural *** tumors often appear as hypervascular lesions in contrast-enhanced *** analysis revealed significant correlations between specific imaging features and pathological types(P<0.001).CONCLUSION This study demonstrated a strong association between the pathological types of pancreatic cancer and imaging *** findings can enhance the accuracy of noninvasive diagnosis and guide personalized treatment approaches.

Background Ochratoxin A(OTA)is a toxin widely found in aquafeed ingredients,and hypoxia is a common prob-lem in fish *** practice,aquatic animals tend to be more sensitive to hypoxia while feeds are contaminated with OTA,but no studies exist in this *** research investigated the multiple biotoxicities of OTA and hypoxia combined on the liver of grass carp and explored the mitigating effect of curcumin(CUR).Methods A total of 720 healthy juvenile grass carp(11.06±0.05 g)were selected and assigned randomly to 4 experi-mental groups:control group(without OTA and CUR),1.2 mg/kg OTA group,400 mg/kg CUR group,and 1.2 mg/kg OTA+400 mg/kg CUR group with three replicates each for 60 ***,32 fish were selected,divided into nor-moxia(18 fish)and hypoxia(18 fish)groups,and subjected to hypoxia stress for 96 *** CUR can attenuate histopathological damage caused by coming to OTA and hypoxia by reducing vacu-olation and nuclear *** alleviation of this damage was associated with the attenuation of apoptosis in the mitochondrial pathway by decreasing the expression of the pro-apoptotic proteins Caspase 3,8,9,Bax,and Apaf1 while increasing the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2,and attenuation of endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)by reducing Grp78 expression and chop *** may be attributed to the fact that the addi-tion of CUR increased the levels of catalase(CAT)and glutathione reductase(GSH),increased antioxidant capacity,and ensured the proper functioning of respiratory chain complexes I and II,which in turn reduced the high produc-tion of reactive oxygen species(ROS),thus alleviating apoptosis and *** In conclusion,our data demonstrate the effectiveness of CUR in attenuating liver injury caused by the combination of OTA and *** study confirms the feasibility and efficacy of adding natural products to mitigate toxic damage to aquatic animals.
