metal oxide electronic interactions in composite electrocatalysts have a considerable impact on their catalytic *** this study,we successfully synthesized an electrocatalytic material composed of MoO_(3)/C speciessupported Pd nanoparticles(Pd-MoO_(3)/C)using a convenient hydrothermal method,which exhibited excellent catalytic activities for both ethanol oxidation and oxygen reduction in KOH *** specific activity of PdMoO_(3)/C toward ethanol oxidation with MoO_(3)loading(40wt%)was~2.6 times greater than that for the commercial Pd/C(10 wt%)with the same Pd *** particular,the activity could effectively hold up to~60%of its maximum activity after 500-cycle tests,demonstrating improved cyclical ***,the fast electron transfer kinetics toward oxygen reduction for Pd-MoO_(3)/C(40%)were also comparable to those of commercial Pt/C(20 wt%)*** superior electrochemical features are primarily derived from the stronger electronic coupling between Pd and MoO_(3)through charge transfer,which can supply more active centers and improve the anti-poisoning ***,the MoO_(3)species in the Pd-MoO_(3)/C composite may provide additional benefits in terms of electrical conductivity and dispersion.

Prediction Model Based on the Grey Theory for Tackling Wax Deposition in Oil Pipelines

Problems involving wax deposition threaten seriously crude pipelines both economically and operationally. Wax deposition in oil pipelines is a complicated problem having a number of uncertainties and indeterminations. The Grey System Theory is a suitable theory for coping with systems in which some information is clear and some is not, so it is an adequate model for studying the process of wax deposition. In order to predict accurately wax deposition along a pipeline, the Grey Model was applied to fit the data of wax deposition rate and the thickness of the deposited wax layer on the pipe-wall, and to give accurate forecast on wax deposition in oil pipelines. The results showed that the average residential error of the Grey Prediction Model is smaller than 2%. They further showed that this model exhibited high prediction accuracy. Our investigation proved that the Grey Model is a viable means for forecasting wax deposition. These findings offer valuable references for the oil industry and for firms dealing with wax cleaning in oil pipelines.

While inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) might be a risk factor in the development of brain dysfunctions,the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown. Here,mice were treated with 5% dextran sodium sulfate(DSS) in drinking water and sacrificed on day 7. The serum level of IL-6 increased, accompanied by elevation of the IL-6 and TNF-a levels in cortical tissue. However, the endotoxin concentration in plasma and brain of mice with DSSinduced colitis showed a rising trend, but with no significant difference. We also found significant activation of microglial cells and reduction in occludin and claudin-5 expression in the brain tissue after DSS-induced *** results suggested that DSS-induced colitis increases systemic inflammation which then results in cortical inflammation via up-regulation of serum cytokines. Here,we provide new information on the impact of colitis on the outcomes of cortical inflammation.

Bio-sourced nanocellulosic materials are promising candidates for spinning high-performance sustainable macrofibers for advanced applications. Various strategies have been pursued to gain nanocellulose-based macrofibers with improved strength. However, nearly all of them have been achieved at the expense of their elongation and toughness. Inspired by the widely existed hierarchical helical and nanocomposite structural features in biosynthesized fibers exhibiting exceptional combinations of strength and toughness, we report a design strategy to make nanocellulose-based macrofibers with similar characteristics. By combining a facile wet-spinning process with a subsequent multiple wet-twisting procedure, we successfully obtain biomimetic hierarchical helical nanocomposite macrofibers based on bacterial cellulose nanofibers, realizing impressive improvement in their tensile strength, elongation and toughness simultaneously. The achievement certifies the validity of the bioinspired hierarchical helical and nanocomposite structural design proposed here. This bioinspired design strategy provides a potential platform for further optimizing or creating many more strong and tough nanocomposite fiber materials for diverse applications.

AIM:To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)on the mitochondria-dependent apoptotic signaling pathway in the ciliary muscle of guinea pigs with negative lensinduced myopia(LIM).METHODS:Guinea pigs were randomly divided into normal control(NC)group,LIM group,LIM+SHAM acupoint(LIM+SHAM)group,and LIM+EA *** in the NC group received no intervention,while those in other three groups were covered with-6.0 diopter(D)lenses on right ***,animals in the LIM+EA group received EA at Hegu(LI4)combined with Taiyang(EX-HN5)acupoints,while those in the LIM+SHAM group were treated at sham *** treatments for 1,2,and 4wk,morphological changes in ciliary muscles were observed with hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining and nick end labeling(TUNEL),and the expression of the mitochondrial apoptotic signaling pathway-related molecules in ciliary muscles was measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)and Western ***,the adenosine triphosphate(ATP)contents were also determined in ciliary ***:Axial length increased significantly in the LIM and LIM+SHAM groups and decreased in the LIM+EA *** ciliary muscle fibers were broken and destroyed in both LIM and LIM+SHAM groups,whereas those in the LIM+EA group improved *** assay showed the number of apoptotic cells increased in the LIM and LIM+SHAM groups,whereas reduced in the LIM+EA *** contents showed a significant decrease in the LIM and LIM+SHAM groups,whereas increased after EA *** with the NC group,the dynamin-related protein 1(DRP1),Caspase3,and apoptotic protease activator 1(APAF1)levels were significantly increased in the LIM group and decreased in the LIM+EA ***:The results provide evidence of EA inhibiting the development of myopia by regulating the mitochondrial apoptotic signaling pathway.

【目的】航天蚕Bombyx mori后代小茧突变体sc的幼虫发育缓慢,食桑量少,推测其生长发育相关通路基因受到基因突变的影响。前期研究表明,sc突变受一对位于家蚕第3连锁群的隐性基因控制,但其控制基因并未被鉴定。本研究拟通过比较分析sc与航天蚕后代正常茧品系TG的转录组数据,为sc突变体相应基因的鉴定及分子机制的解析提供参考。【方法】分别取sc和TG 5龄第4天幼虫的头部和中肠组织进行转录组测序(RNA-seq),并通过比较转录组分析获得差异表达基因(differentially expressed genes,DEGs),对DEGs进行GO注释和KEGG富集分析。利用qRT-PCR验证随机选取的DEGs在sc和TG中的表达量。此外,利用qRT-PCR调查感兴趣基因在sc中的表达量。【结果】TG vs sc比较组头部检测到1528个DEGs,其中820个上调表达,708个下调表达;TG vs sc比较组中肠检测到1401个DEGs,其中683个上调表达,718个下调表达。GO分析表明头部和中肠DEGs在生物学过程中,大多数DEGs参与细胞过程、代谢过程、生物调节和刺激反应等;在分子功能中,大多数DEGs参与结合、催化活性、结构分子活性、转运蛋白活性和ATP依赖活性等。头部和中肠DEGs均涉及Hippo,Insulin和mTOR等与家蚕生长发育相关的信号通路。qRT-PCR分析显示,基因的表达趋势与转录组测序结果一致;与TG相比,sc中生长发育相关通路中BMSK0008105,BMSK0009907,BMSK0002689,BMSK0000286,BMSK0012340和BMSK00083629等关键基因差异表达。【结论】sc和TG中生长发育相关的信号通路关键基因的差异表达,通过影响生长发育过程中的能量代谢、器官发生和细胞生长、增殖及凋亡等生理过程,进而影响小茧突变体sc的体型发育。研究结果有助于阐明sc突变体形成的分子机制,并为家蚕体型调控研究积累实验数据。

The composition and structure of interstellar dust are important and complex for the study of the evolution of stars and the interstellar medium(ISM).However,there is a lack of corresponding experimental data and model *** theoretical calculations based on ab-initio method,we have predicted and geometry optimized the structures of Carbon-rich(C-rich)dusts,carbon(^(12)C),iron carbide(Fe C),silicon carbide(Si C),even silicon(^(28)Si),iron(^(56)Fe),and investigated the optical absorption coefficients and emission coefficients of these materials in 0D(zero-dimensional),1D,and 2D *** the nebular spectra of the supernovae(SN)with the coefficient of dust,we find that the optical absorption coefficient of the 2D^(12)C,^(28)Si,^(56)Fe,Si C and Fe C structure corresponds to the absorption peak displayed in the infrared band(5–8)μm of the spectrum at 7554 days after the SN1987A *** also corresponds to the spectrum of 535 days after the explosion of SN2018bsz,when the wavelength was in the range of(0.2–0.8)and(3–10)μ***,2D Si C and Fe C correspond to the spectrum of 844 days after the explosion of SN2010jl,when the wavelength is within(0.08–10)μ***,Fe C and Si C may be the second type of dust in SN1987A corresponding to infrared band(5–8)μm of dust and may be in the ejecta of SN2010jl and *** nano-scale C-rich dust size is~0.1 nm in SN2018bsz,which is 3 orders of magnitude lower than the value of 0.1μ*** addition,due to the ionization reaction in the supernova remnant(SNR),we also calculated the Infrared Radiation(IR)spectrum of dust *** find that the cation of the 2D layered(Si C)^(2+)has a higher IR spectrum than those of the cation(Si C)^(1+)and neutral(Si C)^(0+).
