Diversity and vertical distributions of sediment bacteria in an urban river contaminated by nutrients and heavy metals

The aim of this study was to investigate the benthic bacterial communities in different depths of an urban river sediment accumulated with high concentrations of nutrients and metals. Vertical distributions of bacterial operational taxonomic units （OTUs） and chemical para- meters （nutrients： NH4＋, NO3, dissolved organic carbon, and acid volatile sulfur; metals： Fe, Zn, and Cu） were characterized in 30 cm sediment cores. The bacterial OTUs were measured using the terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Biodiversity indexes and multivariate statistical analyses were used to characterize the spatial distributions of microbial diversity in response to the environmental parameters. Results showed that concentrations of the nutrients and metals in this river sediment were higher than those in similar studies. Furthermore, high microbial richness and diversity appeared in the sediment. The diversity did not vary obviously in the whole sediment profile. The change of the diversity indexes and the affiliations of the OTUs showed that the top layer had different bacterial community structure from deeper layers due to the hydrological disturbance and redox change in the surface sediment. The dominant bacterial OTUs ubiquitously existed in the deeper sediment layers （5-27 cm） corresponding to the distributions of the nutrients and metals. With much higher diversity than the dominant OTUs, the minor bacterial assemblages varied with depths, which might be affected by the sedimentation process and the environmental competition pressure.

Numerical instability may occur when simulating high Reynolds number flows by the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM).The multiple-relaxation-time(MRT)model of the LBM can improve the accuracy and stability,but is still subject to numerical instability when simulating flows with large single-grid Reynolds number(Reynolds number/grid number).The viscosity counteracting approach proposed recently is a method of enhancing the stability of the ***,its effectiveness was only verified in the single-relaxation-time model of the LBM(SRT-LBM).This paper aims to propose the viscosity counteracting approach for the multiple-relaxationtime model(MRT-LBM)and analyze its numerical *** verification is conducted by simulating some benchmark cases:the two-dimensional(2D)lid-driven cavity flow,Poiseuille flow,Taylor-Green vortex flow and Couette flow,and threedimensional(3D)rectangular *** and Quantitative comparisons show that the viscosity counteracting approach for the MRT-LBMhas better accuracy and stability than that for the SRT-LBM.

A near-infrared non-fullerene acceptor(NFA) BDTIC, based on thienopyrrole-expanded benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene unit(heptacyclic S,N-heteroacene) as core, is designed and synthesized. The aromatic pyrrole ring with strong electron-donating ability in the core enhances the intramolecular charge transfer effect, finely tunes the optical bandgap and absorption profile of BDTIC, and thus results in a narrowed optical bandgap(E_(g)^(opt)) of 1.38 eV and a near-infrared absorption to 900 nm. When BDTIC is paired with donor polymer PBDB-T to fabricate organic solar cells, the optimized device achieves a best power conversion efficiency of 12.1% with a short-circuit current density of 20.0 mA·cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage of 0.88 V. The photovoltaic performance benefits from the broad absorption, weak bimolecular recombination, efficient charge separation and collection, and favorable blend morphology. This work demonstrates that thienopyrroleexpanded benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene unit(heptacyclic S,N-heteroacene) is a promising building unit to construct high-performance NFAs by enhancing the intramolecular charge transfer effect, broadening absorption as well as maintaining good intermolecular stacking property.

Background We aimed to evaluate the tolerability and efficacy of linezolid in children for treating suspected and diagnosed Gram-positive bacterial *** A systematic literature search was conducted up to April 23,2021,using linezolid and its synonyms as search *** reviewers independently identified and extracted relevant randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort *** extracted studies were included in a single-rate meta-analysis of adverse events and clinical outcomes using random-effects *** A total of 1082 articles were identified,and nine studies involving 758 children were included in the *** overall proportion of adverse events was 8.91%[95%confidence interval(CI)=1.64%–36.52%],with diarrhea(2.24%),vomiting(2.05%),and rash(1.72%)being the most *** incidences of thrombocytopenia and anemia were 0.68%and 0.16%,*** specific adverse events,including rash and gastrointestinal events,were more frequent in the oral administration *** terms of efficacy,the overall proportion of clinical improvement was 88.80%(95%CI=81.31%–93.52%).Children with a history of specific bacteriological diagnosis or concomitant antibiotic therapy had a 1.13-fold higher clinical improvement than children without such *** proportion of microbial eradication was 92.68%(95%CI=84.66%–96.68%).The proportion of all-cause mortality was 0.16%(95%CI=0.00%–7.75%).Conclusions Linezolid was well-tolerated in pediatric patients and was associated with a low frequency of adverse events,such as anemia,thrombocytopenia,and ***,linezolid was effective in children with diagnosed and suspected Gram-positive infections.

The low-activity cationic monomer tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane was synthesized by Grignard reaction and hydroxyl-protection reaction. Living polyisobutylene chains were initially synthesized by controlled cationic polymerization and then capped with tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane. The hydrolysis of these polyisobutylenes end capped with tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane gave rise to hydroxytelechelic polyisobutylene. NMR analysis confirmed that the hydrolysis was complete. Results also showed that a low polymerization temperature favored the participation of tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4- methyl-pent-4?enyloxy)-silane in the end-capping reaction. Moreover, polyisobutylene-based polyurethane exhibited greater acid resistance than commercial polyurethane.

As nanomedicine-based clinical strategies have continued to develop,the possibility of combining chemotherapy and singlet oxygen-dependent photodynamic therapy(PDT)to treat pancreatic cancer(PaC)has emerged as a viable therapeutic *** efficacy of such an approach,however,is likely to be constrained by the mechanisms of drug release and tumor oxygen *** the present study,we developed an Fe(Ⅲ)-complexed porous coordination network(PCN)which we then used to encapsulate PTX(PCN-Fe(Ⅲ)-PTX)nanoparticles(NPs)in order to treat PaC via a combination of chemotherapy and *** resultant NPs were able to release drug in response to both laser irradiation and pH changes to promote drug accumulation within ***,through a Fe(Ⅲ)-based Fenton-like reaction these NPs were able to convert H2O2 in the tumor site to O2,thereby regulating local hypoxic conditions and enhancing the efficacy of PDT *** these NPs were suitable for use as a T1-MRI weighted contrast agent,making them viable for monitoring therapeutic efficacy upon *** results in both cell line and animal models of PaC suggest that these NPs represent an ideal agent for mediating effective MRI-guided chemotherapy-PDT,giving them great promise for the clinical treatment of PaC.
