Monitoring and predicting highly localized weather events over a very short-term period,typically ranging from minutes to a few hours,are very important for decision makers and public *** these events usually relies on radar observations through monitoring and *** advanced high-resolution imaging and sounding observations from weather satellites,nowcasting can be enhanced by combining radar,satellite,and other data,while quantitative applications of those data for nowcasting are advanced through using machine learning *** applications include monitoring the location,impact area,intensity,water vapor,atmospheric instability,precipitation,physical properties,and optical properties of the severe storm at different stages(pre-convection,initiation,development,and decaying),identification of storm types(wind,snow,hail,etc.),and predicting the occurrence and evolution of the *** observations can provide information on the environmental characteristics in the preconvection stage and are very useful for situational awareness and storm *** paper provides an overview of recent progress on quantitative applications of satellite data in nowcasting and its challenges,and future perspectives are also addressed and discussed.

This work presents a framework governing the development of an efficient,accurate,and transferable coarse-grained(CG)model of a polyether *** framework combines bottom-up and top-down approaches of coarse-grained model parameters by integrating machine learning(ML)with optimization *** the bottom-up approach,bonded interactions of the CG model are optimized using deep neural networks(DNN),where atomistic bonded distributions are *** the top-down approach,optimization of nonbonded parameters is accomplished by reproducing the temperature-dependent experimental *** demonstrate that developed framework addresses the thermodynamic consistency and transferability issues associated with the classical coarse-graining *** efficiency and transferability of the CG model is demonstrated through accurate predictions of chain statistics,the limiting behavior of the glass transition temperature,diffusion,and stress relaxation,where none were included in the parametrization *** accuracy of the predicted properties are evaluated in context of molecular theories and available experimental data.

Hybrid aqueous capacitors with improved energy/power performance

This work reports on a high-voltage,hybrid capacitor involving two separate redox *** solutions of Mg(NO3)2and KI have been used for negative and positive electrode,*** p H ? 2 for electrode( t) with KI solution and modifying Mg(NO3)2solution to p H ? 9 for negative side play a crucial role for a stable long-term operation of capacitor at enhanced voltage.A benefit from such a construction is a pseudocapacitive contribution from hydrogen sorption reaction on the negative electrode and high iodine/iodide activity on the positive electrode,enhancing the energy with no remarkable impact on the power *** solution allows a high voltage(1.8 V) to be reached and thereby high power and energy performance( 20 W h/kg at 1 k W/kg) to be *** long-term stability has been confirmed by floating and galvanostatic tests.

国际放射防护委员会(ICRP)提出了“防护量”这一概念。最常用的防护量,即有效剂量E,用于设定照射限值,并在实用辐射防护中使用,以实现最优化原则。然而,有效剂量不是一个可测量的量,基于此国际辐射单位与测量委员会(ICRU)为外照射的剂量测定提出了一个可测量的量,即实用量,用于估计有效剂量。目前使用的实用量定义于20世纪80年代,当时核工业是职业辐射防护的主要关注点。当前,在其他辐射领域,特别是高能辐射,实用量的不足之处变得很明显:可能高估或低估有效剂量。因此,ICRU和ICRP在全面研究的基础上,为外照射的剂量测定提出了新的实用量,以克服上述缺点。实用量的新定义与防护量(包括有效剂量)的定义更具相关性,特别是使用了相同的仿真体模。当前提出的实用量通过缩小防护量与实用量之间的定义差异简化了辐射防护量体系,并从整体上改进了对有效剂量的估计。本文讨论了提出的新实用量对实际剂量测定的影响。

Potentials for Radio Frequency Identification in AEC/FM

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has proved to be very effective in industries as diverse as aircraft manufacturing to health and care. The construction industry has been slow to take up on RFID and this paper will discuss the merits of the technology in its potential for application within the construction sector. The paper reports about the prototypical implementation of RFID-based information management in FM-scenarios. The prototypes were tested at University College Cork (UCC). The general applicability of RFID for decentralised information management could be demonstrated.

Effect of genistein on acrosome reaction and zona pellucida binding independent of protein tyrosine kinase inhibition in bull

Aim： To investigate if the phytoestrogen, genistein, affects essential functions of cryopreserved bovine spermatozoa. Methods： The effect of genistein upon motility was assessed by computer-assisted motion analysis. Hemizona assay was performed to detect the ability of spermatozoa binding to the zona pellucida. The inducibility of the acrosome reaction using progesterone and ZP3-6 peptide was analysed by fluorescein-conjugated Pisum sativum agglutinin （FITC-PSA）/Hoechst 33258 double staining. Capacitation after incubation with genistein was assessed by the chlortetracycline （CTC） assay. Immunoblots showed the pattern of protein tyrosine phosphorylation of cryopreserved bovine spermatozoa. Results： Immunodetection of tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins showed that genistein did not affect tyrosine phosphorylation in cryopreserved bovine spermatozoa. However, genistein significantly reduced the progesterone- and ZP3-6 peptide-mediated induction of the acrosome reaction and led to a dose-dependent inhibition of sperm-zona pellucida binding; while sperm motility and capacitation were not affected by this phytoestrogen, as indicated by computer-assisted sperm motion analysis and the CTC assay, respectively. Conclusion： Our results suggest that in cryopreserved bovine spermatozoa, genistein affects a protein tyrosine phosphorylation-independent signal transduction pathway that is involved in sperm capacitation, the acrosome reaction and sperm-zona pellucida binding.

Tunable colors and conductivity by electroless growth of Cu/Cu2O particles on sol-gel modified cellulose

Development of colored surfaces by formation of nano-structured aggregates is a widely used strategy in nature to color lightweight structures (e.g. butterflies) without the use of dye pigments. The deposition of nanoscale particles mimics nature in it’s approach coloring surfaces. This work presents sol-gel modification of cellulose surfaces used to form a template for growth of Cu/Cu2O core–shell particles with defined size-distributions. Besides improving the adhesion of the deposited particulate material, the sol-gel matrix serves as a template for the control of particle sizes of the Cu/Cu2O structures, and as a consequence of particle size variation the surface color is tunable. As an example, red color was achieved with an average particle size of 35 nm, and shifts gradually to blue appearance when particles have grown to 80 nm on the sol-gel modified fabric. The copper concentration on representative fabrics is kept low to avoid modifying the textile characteristics and were all in the range of 150–170 mg per g of cellulose material. As a result of copper deposition on the surface of the material, the cellulose fabric also became electrically conductive. Remarkably, the electrical conductivity was found to be dependent on the average particle sizes of the deposits and thus related to the change in observed color. The generation of color by growth of nano-sized particles on sol-gel templates provides a highly promising approach to stain surfaces by physical effects without use of synthetic colorants, which opens a new strategy to improve environmental profile of coloration.

Insect cuticular hydrocarbons(CHCs)serve as communication signals and protect against *** form complex blends of up to 150 different *** to differences in molecular packing,CHC classes differ in melting *** is especially important in social insects like ants,which use CHCs to communicate within the colony and to recognize *** recognition models often assume a homogenous colony odor,where CHCs are collected,mixed,and redistributed in the postpharyngeal gland(PPG).Via diffusion,recognition cues should evenly spread over the body ***,CHC composition should be similar across body parts and in the *** test this,we compared CHC composition among whole-body extracts,PPG,legs,thorax,and gaster,across 17 ant species from 3 *** CHC composition differed between body parts,with consistent patterns across species and CHC ***-melting CHC classes were most abundant in the *** contrast,whole body,gaster,thorax,and legs had increasing proportions of CHC classes with higher melting *** CHC variation was highest for rather solid,late-melting CHC classes,suggesting that CHCs differ in their diffusion rates across the body *** results show that body parts strongly differ in CHC composition,either being rich in rather solid,late-melting,or rather liquid,early-melting *** implies that recognition cues are not homogenously present across the insect ***,the unequal diffusion of different CHCs represents a biophysical mechanism that enables caste differences despite continuous CHC exchange among colony members.

Dynamics and roles of phragmoplast microfilaments in cell plate formation during cytokinesis of tobacco BY-2 cells

The phragmoplast is a special apparatus that functions in establishing a cell plate in dividing plant cells. It is known that microfilaments (MFs) are involved in constituting phragmoplast structure, but the dynamic distribution and role of phragmoplast MFs are far from being understood. In this study, the precise structure and dynamics of MFs during the initiation and the late lateral expansion of the phragmoplast were observed by using a tobacco BY-2 cell line stably expressing the microfilament reporter construct GFP-fABD2. Three-dimensional imaging showed that the phragmoplast MFs were initiated by two populations of MFs emerging between the reconstituting daughter nuclei at anaphase, which migrated to the mid-zone and gave rise to two layers of microfilament arrays. FM4-64 stained vesicles accumulated and fused with the cell plate between the two populations of MFs. The two layers of microfilament arrays of phragmoplast with ends overlapped always surrounded the centrifugally expanding cell plate. Partial disruption of MFs at metaphase by low concentration of latrunculin B resulted in the inhibition of the cell plate consolidation and the blockage of cell plate lateral expansion, whereas high concentration of latrunculin B restrained the progression of the cell cycle. Treating the cell after the initiation of phragmoplast led to the cease of the expansion of the cell plate. Our observations provide new insights into the precise structure and dynamics of phragmoplast MFs during cytokinesis and suggest that dynamic phragmoplast MFs are important in cell plate formation.
