In this study, we present a unified sparsity-driven framework that significantly enhances motion deblurring performance by integrating two key components: a custom-designed dataset and a low-rank module(LRM). This framework leverages the inherent sparsity of per-pixel blur kernels to bolster both deblurring accuracy and model interpretability. Firstly, we propose an adaptive-basis decomposition-based deblurring(ADD) approach, which constructs a tailored training dataset to enhance the generalization capacity of the deblurring network. The ADD framework adaptively decomposes motion blur into sparse basis elements, effectively addressing the intricacies associated with non-uniform blurs. Secondly, an LRM is proposed to improve the interpretability of deblurring models as a plug-and-play module, primarily designed to identify and harness the intrinsic sparse features in sharp images. A series of ablation studies have been conducted to substantiate the synergistic advantages of combining the proposed ADD with the LRM for overall improvement in deblurring efficacy. Subsequently, we empirically demonstrate through rigorous experimentation that incorporating the LRM into an existing Uformer network leads to substantial enhancement in reconstruction performance. This integration yields a sparsity-guided low-rank network(SGLRN). Operating under the overarching principle of sparsity, SGLRN consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods across multiple standard deblurring benchmarks. Comprehensive experimental results, assessed through quantitative metrics and qualitative visual evaluations, provide compelling evidence of its effectiveness. The recycling of waste polyethylene terephthalate（PET）, an extensively used polymer as plastic and fiber materials, has become an urgent topic due to the rapid generation and accumulation of plastic waste into the environment. Current chemical recycling approaches to depolymerize and convert PET into 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol（CHDM）, an important chemical in the production of advanced polyesters, predominantly use organic solvents, such as alcohols or dioxane. Herein, we developed an environmentally friendly and economically viable pathway for converting PET to CHDM using water as the solvent. In this process, PET is sequentially hydrolyzed in water, hydrogenated to 1,4-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid（CHDA）, and then reduced to CHDM. The PET conversion rate is self-enhanced in aqueous medium via acid-catalyzed hydrolysis by the generated CHDA intermediate. A Pd-based catalyst（e.g., Pd/C） selectively hydrogenates the arene ring of the PET monomer, terephthalic acid intermediate, and a Ru-Sn/C bimetallic catalyst reduces its COOH to CH2OH group. At optimized reaction conditions, a complete conversion of PET and 80.1% yield of CHDM are obtained. Alternatively, this approach can also efficiently produce CHDA from PET, with a yield up to 86.4%.

Background:As a novel blocker of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), fruquintinib has been approved for treating colorectal cancer (CRC). However, its dosage and therapeutic efficacy are limited by its widespread adverse reactions. Venetoclax, recognized as the initial inhibitor of B-cell lymphoma protein 2 (BCL2), has shown potential in boosting the effectiveness of immunotherapy against CRC. This study investigated the efficacy and mechanisms of fruquintinib combined with venetoclax in treating CRC.Methods and Materials:We developed a colon cancer mouse model with the CT26 colon cell line to demonstrate fruquintinib and venetoclax's efficacy against tumors. Then we employed various techniques to evaluate different aspects of the experimental outcomes. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect cell proliferation and angiogenesis in tumor tissues. Western blot analysis was utilized to examine the occurrence of cell apoptosis, and flow cytometry to quantitate immune cells within the tumor tissues. Moreover, immunofluorescence was employed to measure cytokine levels.Results:The strongest inhibition on tumor growth was achieved by the combination of fruquintinib with venetoclax, as opposed to individual drug use. Venetoclax was found to amplify the impact of fruquintinib, leading to decreased cancer cell proliferation, increased cancer cell apoptosis, lowered angiogenesis, better vascular structure normalization, and improved immune cell infiltration.Conclusion:Our findings indicate that the addition of venetoclax enhances the impact of fruquintinib on vascular normalization and modulation of the tumor immune microenvironment. Our study presents the justification for utilizing the fruquintinib and venetoclax combination in treating CRC. Venetoclax holds promise in being assimilated into anticancer medications for CRC.

Post-transcriptional ribonucleic acid (RNA) modifications play crucial roles in regulating gene expression, with both eukaryotic and prokaryotic RNA exhibiting more than 170 distinct and ubiquitous modifications. RNA turnover generates numerous free nucleosides, including unmodified nucleosides and a variety of modified ones. Unlike unmodified nucleosides, modified nucleosides are not further degraded or used in the salvage-synthesis pathway owing to a lack of specific enzymes, which leads to the cytosolic accumulation or cellular efflux of modified nucleosides. These modified nucleosides can act as signaling molecules that regulate downstream pathways once transported to the extracellular space; alternatively, they are metabolized in the bloodstream and excreted in urine. Metabolized modified nucleosides are altered by cellular stress responses and mediate abnormal physiological states. Changes in the urinary and blood levels of modified nucleosides associated with cancer can serve as biomarkers for disease. Therefore, identifying and accurately quantifying nucleosides is vital for understanding RNA degradation and associated patterns of nucleoside metabolism. Such analyses are helpful when studying the biological functions and potential clinical applications of modified nucleosides. In this regard, high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) offers significant advantages in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, and efficiency, and has been widely used to analyze DNA and RNA nucleosides/nucleotides and their analogues. Multiple MS detection patterns and quantification methods have been established to detect nucleosides in biological samples, including cultured cells, urine, blood, and tissue samples. However, the development of an accurate HPLC-MS/MS method faces several challenges. While human exposure to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) can lead to ulcerative colitis, the molecular mechanisms responsible for PFOA-induced intestinal toxicity are unclear. Herein, we examined the toxicity of PFOA toward human colorectal cancer cells (HCT116) from three dimensions: the cytotoxic phenotype, cell respiration, and transcription levels of metabolism-related genes. Formazan was used to assess how PFOA exposure affects HCT116-cell relative viability, after which the mitochondrial respiratory activities of these cells were determined by analyzing extracellular flux. The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) method was used to detect metabolism-related gene expression levels. The cytotoxicity assay revealed that the HCT116 showed significantly inhibited relative activities compared to those of the control when exposed to 300 μmol/L PFOA for 48 h (<0.01), with most cells retained at the G0/G1 stage. In contrast, the mitochondrial respiratory activities of the HCT116 were promoted by concentrations of PFOA as low as 50 μmol/L. Two genes related to cellular metabolism (dipeptidase 1 () and sphingosine kinase 1 ()) were found to be related to the PFOA-promoted formation of ulcerative colitis using our self-developed Metabolic Gene and Pathway Query software and Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD). The qPCR studies revealed that and expression levels were enhanced by 8-10 times in HCT116 exposed to 300 μmol/L PFOA relative to the control, whereas this trend was not observed for HCT116 exposed to 50 μmol/L PFOA. Collectively, these results suggest that the respiratory activity of cellular mitochondria may serve as an index for determining the interference effects associated with PFOA and that metabolic pathways mediated by and may be involved in the development of PFOA-induced ulcerative colitis.
