Suppression of colorectal tumorigenesis by recombinant Bacteroides fragilis enterotoxin-2 in vivo

AIM To evaluate the impact of recombinant Bacteroides fragilis enterotoxin-2 (BFT-2, or Fragilysin) on colorectal tumorigenesis in mice induced by azoxymethane/dextran sulfate sodium (AOM/DSS). METHODS Recombinant proBFT-2 was expressed in Escherichia coli strain Rosetta (DE3) and BFT-2 was obtained and tested for its biological activity via colorectal adenocarcinoma cell strains SW-480. Seventy C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a blank (BC; n = 10), model (AD; n = 20), model + low-dose toxin (ADLT; n = 20, 10 mu g), and a model + high-dose toxin (ADHT; n = 20, 20 mu g) group. Mice weight, tumor formation and pathology were analyzed. Immunohistochemistry determined Ki-67 and Caspase-3 expression in normal and tumor tissues of colorectal mucosa. RESULTS Recombinant BFT-2 was successfully obtained, along with its biological activity. The most obvious weight loss occurred in the AD group compared with the ADLT group (21.82 +/- 0.68 vs 23.23 +/- 0.91, P < 0.05) and the ADHT group (21.82 +/- 0.68 vs 23.57 +/- 1.06, P < 0.05). More tumors were found in the AD group than in the ADLT and ADHT groups (19.75 +/- 3.30 vs 6.50 +/- 1.73, P < 0.05; 19.75 +/- 3.30 vs 6.00 +/- 2.16, P < 0.05). Pathology showed that 12 mice had adenocarcinoma and 6 cases had adenoma in the AD group. Five mice had adenocarcinoma and 15 had adenoma in the ADLT group. Four mice had adenocarcinoma and 16 had adenoma in the ADHT group. The incidence of colorectal adenocarcinoma in both the ADHT group and the ADHT group was reduced compared to that in the AD group (P < 0.05, P < 0.05). The positive rate of Ki-67 in the ADLT group and the ADHT group was 50% and 40%, respectively, both of which were lower than that found in the AD group (94.44%, P < 0.05, P < 0.05). Caspase-3 expression in the ADLT group and the ADHT group was 45% and 55%, both of which were higher than that found in the BC group (16.67%, P < 0.05, P < 0.05). Fail-safe topology optimization is valuable for ensuring that optimized structures remain operable even under damaged *** selectively removing material stiffness in patches with a fixed shape,the complex phenomenon of local failure is modeled in fail-safe topology *** this work,we first conduct a comprehensive study to explore the impact of patch size,shape,and distribution on the robustness of fail-safe *** findings suggest that larger sizes and finer distribution of material patches can yield more robust fail-safe ***,a finer patch distribution can significantly increase computational costs,particularly for 3D *** keep computational efforts tractable,an efficient fail-safe topology optimization approach is established based on the framework of multi-resolution topology optimization(MTOP).Within the MTOP framework,the extended finite element method is introduced to establish a decoupling connection between the analysis mesh and the topology description *** examples demonstrate that the developed methodology is 2 times faster for 2D problems and over 25 times faster for 3D problems than traditional fail-safe topology optimization while maintaining similar levels of robustness.

The perturbation in the magnetic field generated by the rotation or oscillation of magnetic domains in magnetic materials can emit low-frequency electromagnetic waves,which are expected to be used in low-frequency ***,the magnetic emission intensity,defined by the perturbation ability,of current commercially applied amorphous alloys,such as Metglas,cannot meet the application requirements for low-frequency antennas due to the domain motion energy ***,a multi-phase Metglas amorphous alloy was constructed by incorporatingα-Fe nanocrystals using rapid annealing to manipulate the domain *** was found that 3.89 times higher magnetic emission intensity is obtained compared to the pristine due to the synergism of the deformation and displacement ***,the low-frequency magnetic emission performance verification was carried out by preparing magnetoelectric composites as the antenna vibrator by assembling the alloy and macro piezoelectric fiber composites(MFC).Enhancements of magnetic emission intensity are found at 93.3%and 49.2%at the first and second harmonic frequencies compared with the unmodified alloy ***,the approach leads to the development of high-performance communication with a novel standard for evaluation.

AIM:To investigate the frequency and associated factors of accommodation and non-strabismic binocular vision dysfunction among medical university ***:Totally 158 student volunteers underwent routine vision examination in the optometry clinic of Guangxi Medical *** data were used to identify the different types of accommodation and nonstrabismic binocular vision dysfunction and to determine their *** analysis and logistic regression were used to examine the factors associated with these ***:The results showed that 36.71%of the subjects had accommodation and non-strabismic binocular vision issues,with 8.86%being attributed to accommodation dysfunction and 27.85%to binocular *** insufficiency(CI)was the most common abnormality,accounting for 13.29%.Those with these abnormalities experienced higher levels of eyestrain(χ2=69.518,P<0.001).The linear correlations were observed between the difference of binocular spherical equivalent(SE)and the index of horizontal esotropia at a distance(r=0.231,P=0.004)and the asthenopia survey scale(ASS)score(r=0.346,P<0.001).Furthermore,the right eye's SE was inversely correlated with the convergence of positive and negative fusion images at close range(r=-0.321,P<0.001),the convergence of negative fusion images at close range(r=-0.294,P<0.001),the vergence facility(VF;r=-0.234,P=0.003),and the set of negative fusion images at far range(r=-0.237,P=0.003).Logistic regression analysis indicated that gender,age,and the difference in right and binocular SE did not influence the emergence of these ***:Binocular vision abnormalities are more prevalent than accommodation dysfunction,with CI being the most frequent *** binocular refractive disparity leads to more severe eyestrain symptoms.

Autonomous indoor humidity control is gaining more and more attention but is limited by the trade-offs among pore volume,pore size and water stability of water *** solve this problem by using a unique coordination network topology combined with hydrolytically stable M(Ⅲ)carboxylate *** extending the ligand length from 9.0 to 11.2 and 13.7?,the pore volume significantly increases from 0.99 to 1.40 and 1.78 cm^(3)g^(-1),which proportionally increases the saturated water adsorption ***,the pore size slightly increases from 10.4 to 11.0 and 13.5A,which restricts the isotherm inflection pressure and hysteresis width to meet the requirement of indoor humidity *** single-crystals suitable for Xray diffraction studies were obtained by using Fe(Ⅲ)salts,while isostructural frameworks with sufficiently high water stabilities were synthesized by using Cr(Ⅲ)salts,which offer record working capacity of 0.90 and 1.10 g g^(-1)for indoor humidity control.
