Development characteristics and orientation of tight oil and gas in China

Through reviewing the development history of tight oil and gas in China,summarizing theoretical understandings in exploration and development,and comparing the geological conditions and development technologies objectively in China and the United States,we clarified the progress and stage of tight oil and gas exploration and development in China,and envisaged the future development orientation of theory and technology,process methods and development policy.In nearly a decade,relying on the exploration and development practice,science and technology research and management innovation,huge breakthroughs have been made.The laws of formation,distribution and accumulation of tight oil and gas have been researched,the development theories such as"multi-stage pressure drop"and"man-made reservoirs"have been established,and several technology series have been innovated and integrated.These technology series include enrichment regions selection,well pattern deployment,single well production and recovery factor enhancement,and low cost development.As a result,both of reserves and production of tight oil and gas increase rapidly.However,limited by the sedimentary environment and tectonic background,compared with North America,China’s tight oil and gas reservoirs are worse in continuity,more difficult to develop and poorer in economic efficiency.Moreover,there are still some gaps in reservoir identification accuracy and stimulating technology between China and North America.In the future,Chinese oil and gas companies should further improve the resource evaluation method,tackle key technologies such as high-precision 3D seismic interpretation,man-made reservoir,and intelligent engineering,innovate theories and technologies to enhance single well production and recovery rate,and actively endeavor to get the finance and tax subsidy on tight oil and gas.

Optimization workflow for stimulation-well spacing design in a multiwell pad

A flow mathematical model with multiple horizontal wells considering interference between wells and fractures was established by taking the variable width conductivity fractures as basic flow units.Then a semi-analytical approach was proposed to model the production performance of full-life cycle in well pad and to investigate the effect of fracture length,flow capacity,well spacing and fracture spacing on estimated ultimate recovery(EUR).Finally,an integrated workflow is developed to optimize drilling and completion parameters of the horizontal wells by incorporating the productivity prediction and economic evaluation.It is defined as nested optimization which consists of outer-optimization shell(i.e.,economic profit as outer constraint)and inner-optimization shell(i.e.,fracturing scale as inner constraint).The results show that,when the constraint conditions aren’t considered,the performance of the well pad can be improved by increasing contact area between fracture and formation,reducing interference between fractures/wells,balancing inflow and outflow between fracture and formation,but there is no best compromise between drilling and completion parameters.When only the inner constraint condition is considered,there only exists the optimal fracture conductivity and fracture length.When considering both inner and outer constraints,the optimization decisions including fracture conductivity and fracture length,well spacing,fracture spacing are achieved and correlated.When the fracturing scale is small,small well spacing,wide fracture spacing and short fracture should be adopted.When the fracturing scale is large,big well spacing,small fracture spacing and long fracture should be used.

The mevalonate pathway promotes the metastasis of osteosarcoma by regulating YAP 1 activity via RhoA

Osteosarcoma is the most common malignant bone tumour,and the metastasis of osteosarcoma is an important cause of death.Evidence has shown that the mevalonate pathway is highly activated and is expected to be a new target for tumour therapy.In this study,we investigated the effect of mevalonate signalling on osteosarcoma metastasis and its molecular mechanism.First,we found that the key rate-limiting enzyme of mevalonate signalling,3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase(HMGCR),was highly expressed in osteosarcoma cells,and inhibition of HMGCR with simvastatin significantly inhibited the motility of 143B cells.Next,we found that YAP1 activity was significantly upregulated in osteosarcoma cells and that YAP1 knockdown inhibited the motility of 143B cells.We also found that the mevalonate pathway regulated the motility of 143B cells by modulating YAP1 phosphorylation and cellular localization.Moreover,we found that the activity of YAP1 was regulated by the mevalonate pathway by modulating the cell membrane localization of RhoA.Finally,we demonstrated that inhibition of the mevalonate pathway notably reduced the lung metastasis of 143B cells,as reflected by the decreased incidence and number of metastatic nodules and the increased survival time of the nude mice.Taken together,our findings suggest that the mevalonate pathway can promote the metastasis of osteosarcoma by activating YAP1 via RhoA.Inhibition of the mevalonate pathway may be a promising therapeutic strategy for osteosarcoma metastasis.

In-situ Monitoring the Setting Behavior of Foamed Concrete Using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Method

The applicability of ultrasonic pulse velocity （UPV） method to in-situ monitor setting and hardening process of foamed concrete （FC） was systematically investigated. The UPVs of various FC pastes were automatically and continuously measured by a specially designed ultrasonic monitoring apparatus （UMA）. Ultrasonic tests were performed on FC mixtures with different density （300, 500, 800 and 1 000 kg/m3）, and different fly ash contents （0%, 20%, 40% and 60%）. The influence of curing temperatures （20, 40, 60 and 80~C） was also studied. The experimental results show that three characteristic stages can be clearly identified during the setting process of an arbitrary FC paste： dormant stage, acceleration stage, and deceleration stage. Wet density, fly ash content, and curing temperature have great impact on setting behavior. A stepwise increase of the wet density results in shorter dormant stage and larger final UPV. Hydration reaction rate is obviously promoted with an increase in curing temperature. However, the addition fly ash retards the microstn,lcture formation. To aid in comparing with the ultrasonic results, the consistence spread test and Vicat needle test （VNT） were also conducted. A correlation between ultrasonic and VNT results was also established to evaluate the initial and final setting time of the FC mixtures. Finally, certain ranges of UPV with reasonable widths were suggested for the initial and final setting time, respectively.

Design of 85–105GHz Wideband Traveling Wave PIN Diode Switches and Attenuators with Radial Stubs

Wideband traveling wave PIN Diode switches and attenuators are proposed. The switches and attenuators consist of three shunt PIN diodes, six radial stubs, bias circuit and DC return circuit. Wide bandwidth is achieved with six different radial stubs as reflective load of the diodes. The stubs work as short circuit to the diodes at different frequency points for broad bandwidth. For the Single pole single throw(SPST) switch, the lowest measured Insertion loss(IL) is 0.75 dB and lower than 2.0dB in 85–105GHz, and its isolation is better than 21.3dB.As a Voltage-controlled variable attenuator(VCA), typical attenuation range is 23 dB and attenuation fluctuation is lower than 5dB in 85–105GHz.

Study on Catalytic Alkylation of Benzene with Methanol over ZSM-22 and ZSM-35

The ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 zeolites were synthesized via the hydrothermal crystallization method. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, N_2 adsorption-desorption, NH_3-TPD, TPO, TG, and Raman spectrometry, and the results showed that ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 possessed similar microporous volume and acidity. In the alkylation of benzene with methanol, ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 showed different coke location, coking rate and graphitizing degree. Compared with the industrial ZSM-5, ZSM-22 and ZSM-35 both showed higher selectivity of toluene and xylene(93.63% and 96.50%,respectively) during the alkylation of benzene with methanol, and the selectivity of para-xylene in xylene isomers was51.96% and 41.45%, respectively. Meanwhile, the selectivity of ethylbenzene and C_9^+ aromatics was also lower than that of industrial ZSM-5.

Effects of rearranged during transfection mutation on calcitonin and procalcitonin expression in sporadic medullary thyroid carcinoma

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of rearranged during transfection(RET)mutation on the expressions of calcitonin(CTn)and procalcitonin(PCT)in sporadic medullary thyroid carcinoma(SMTC).Methods RET mutation was detected by polymerase chain reaction direct sequencing in 64 cases of SMTC,and the expression levels of CTn and PCT in SMTC tissues were detected using the immunohistochemical streptavidin-perosidase(SP)method.The effect of RET mutations on the expression of CTn and PCT along with its relationship with clinicopathological parameters were analyzed.Results The expression rates of CTn and PCT in SMTC tissues were 90.6%(58/64)and 67.2%(43/64),respectively.CTn and PCT expression were found to be associated with tumor size and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).There was a significant correlation between CTn and PCT expression(r=0.269,P=0.041),and the intensity of positive CTn expression was positively correlated with RET mutation(r=0.507,P=0.000).However,PCT expression was not associated with RET mutation(r=0.188,P=0.136).Conclusion High expression of CTn and PCT was associated with the progression of medullary carcinoma,and the intensity of CTn expression was associated with RET mutation.PCT may provide valuable information for the diagnosis and prognosis of SMTC.

BACKGROUND： Nuclear factor-κB （NF-κB）, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 （ICAM-1）, and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 （VCAM-1） in brain tissue can participate in inflammatory reactions after cerebral ischemia. Acupuncture treatment for acute cerebral ischemia produces abnormal protein expression. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the effects of acupuncture on NF-KB, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1 mRNA and protein expression in the brain tissue of rats with cerebral ischemiaJreperfUsion injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Randomized, controlled, animal experiments were performed at the Laboratory of Department of Neurosurgery, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, China between December 2008 and October 2009. MATERIALS： Rabbit anti-NF-KB polyclonal antibody, rabbit anti-ICAM-1 polyclonal antibody, and rabbit anti-VCAM-1 polyclonal antibody were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA. METHODS： A total of 46 healthy, Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to sham surgery （n= 10）, model （n = 12）, acupuncture pretreatment （n = 12）, and acupuncture intervention （n = 12） groups. Models of middle cerebral artery occlusion were established by right common carotid artery ligation. In the acupuncture pretreatment group, rats received acupuncture for 3 consecutive days, and then models were established. In the acupuncture intervention group, rats received acupuncture for 3 consecutive days at Waiguan （SJ 5）, Sanyinjiao （SP 6）, and Dazhui （DU 14） acupoints following model establishment. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Somatosensory asymmetry and forelimb use asymmetry were tested, as well as NF-KB, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1 mRNA and protein expression in the frontal and parietal cortex at 4, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. RESULTS： Acupuncture improved neurological function and significantly decreased NF-KB, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1 mRNA and protein expression in the frontal and parietal cortex of rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury （P 〈 0.05）.
