To determine the contribution of charged amino acids to binding with the photosystem Ⅱcomplex(PSⅡ),the amino or carboxyl groups of the extrinsic 18 kDa protein were modified with N-succinimidyl propionate(NSP)or glycine methyl ester(GME)in the presence of a water-soluble carbodiimide,*** on isoelectric point shift,4-10 and 10-14 amino groups were modified in the presence of2 and 4 mM NSP,***,3.4 carboxyl groups were modified by reaction with *** of negatively charged carboxyl groups with GME did not alter the binding activity of theextrinsic 18 kDa ***,the NSP-modified 18 kDa protein,in which the positively charged aminogroups had been modified to uncharged methyl esters,failed to bind with the PSⅡ membrane in the presenceof the extrinsic 23.kDa *** defect can not be attributed to structural or conformational alterationsimposed by chemical modification,as the fluorescence and circular dichroism spectra among native,GME-and NSP-modified extrinsic 18 kDa proteins were ***,we have concluded that the positive chargesof lysyl residues in the extrinsic 18 kDa protein are important for its interaction with PSⅡ membranes in thepresence of the extrinsic 23.kDa ***,it was found that the negative charges of carboxylgroups of this protein did not participate in binding with the extrinsic 23.kDa protein associated with PSⅡmembranes.

With the explosive growth of network applications, the threat of the malicious code against network security becomes increasingly serious. In this paper we explore the mechanism of the malicious code by giving an attack model of the malicious code, and discuss the critical techniques of implementation and prevention against the malicious code. The remaining problems and emerging trends in this area are also addressed in the paper.

Embryonic and genetic manipulation in fish

Fishes, the biggest and most diverse community in vertebrates are good experimental models for studies of cell and developmental biology by many favorable characteristics. Nuclear transplantation in fish has been thoroughly studied in China since 1960s. Fish nuclei of embryonic cells from different genera were transplanted into enucleated eggs generating nucleo-cytoplasmic hybrids of adults. Most importantly, nuclei of cultured goldfish kidney cells had been reprogrammed in enucleated eggs to support embryogenesis and ontogenesis of a fertile fish. This was the first case of cloned fish with somatic cells. Based on the technique of microinjection, recombinant MThGH gene has been transferred into fish eggs and the first batch of transgenic fish were Produced in 1984. The behavior of foreign gene was characterized and the onset of the foreign gene replication occurred between the blastula to gastrula stages and random integration mainly occurred at later stages of embryogenesis. This eventually led to the transgenic mosaicism. The MThGH-transferred common carp enhanced growth rate by 2-4 times in the founder juveniles and doubled the body weight in the adults. The transgenic common carp were more efficient in utilizing dietary protein than the controls. An "all-fish" gene construct CAgcGH has been made by splicing the common carp β-actin gene (CA) promoter onto the grass carp growth hormone gene (goGH) coding sequence. The CAgcGH-transferred Yellow River Carp have also shown significantly fast-growth trait. Combination of techniques of fish cell culture, gene transformation with cultured cells and nuclear transplantation should be able to generate ho- mogeneous strain of valuable transgenic fish to fulfil human requirement in 21st century

SYNTHESIS OF SOAP-FREE ACRYLIC HYDROSOLS

Poly(methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate/acrylic acid) hydrosols were prepared by employing soap-free polymerization, and (acrylic acid/butyl acrylate) oligomer was used as the polymeric surfactant. The effect of reaction condition on the morphology and particle size of the hydrosols was investigated. The minimum amount of acrylic acid in the hydrosols is 2%. The maximum weight average molecular weight (M-w) of polymer that assures soap-free emulsion conversion into hydrosol is about 1.2 x 10(5)-1.3.x 10(5). The particle transforming process was investigated, and an obvious change of particle diameter and morphology was observed.

Differential screening and characterization analysis of the egg envelope glycoprotein ZP3.cDNAs between gynogenetic and gonochoristic crucian carp

Gynogenetic silver crucian carp, Carassius auratus gibelio, is an intriguing model system. In the present work, a systemic study has been initiated by introducing suppression subtractive hybridization technique into this model system to identify the differentially expressed genes in oocytes between gynogenetic silver crucian carp and its closely related gonochoristic color crucian carp. Five differential cDNA fragments were identified from the preliminary screening, and two of them are ZP3.homologues. Moreover, the full length ZP3.cDNAs were cloned from their oocyte cDNA libraries. The length of ZP3.cDNAs were 13.8 bp for gyno-carp and 13.7 bp for gono-carp, and they can be translated into proteins with 43. amino acids. Obvious differences are not only in the composition of amino acids, but also in the number of potential O-linked oligosaccharide sites. In addition, gyno-carp ZP3.amino acid sequence has an unexpected higher identity value with common carp (83.5%) than that with the closely related gono-carp (74.7%). The unique homology may be originated from the ancient hybridization. Northern blot analysis confirmed that expression of the ZP3.gene occurred exclusively in the oocytes. Because O-linked oligosaccharides on ZP3.have been demonstrated to play very important roles in fertilization, it is suggested that the extra O-linked glycosylation sites may be related to the unique sperm-egg recognition mechanism in gynogenesis.

RS-and-GIS-Supported Forecast of Grassland Degradation in Southwest Songnen Plain by Markov Model

By taking Daan city in Jilin Province as a research object and by using TM image in 1989 and ETM + image in 2001 from American LANDSAT satellite,all kinds of maps and documentation,information of grassland,saline-alkalized land,cropland,water area and forestland is extracted by man-computer interactive interpretation method with ArcView and ArcInfo GIS software, and statistics data is acquired. On the basis of this the changing trend of land use types in the next ten years is forecasted and analyzed with Markov model. The results indicate that the problem of grassland degradation in the study area is quite serious.

TRIMETHYLSILYLATED SILICA AS RHEOLOGY MODIFIER FOR SILICONE RESINS

Trimethylsilylated silica was synthesized. through hydrolytic condensation of tetraethoxysilane followed by trimethylsilylation. Rheological properties of the silicone resin with trimethylsilylated silica as modifier were studied. It turned out that the particle size of silica was important to the rheological behavior of the modified resin. Trimethylsilylated silica of medium particle size shows the strongest tendency of forming physical network in the resin.

Coexisting quartz, feldspar and biotite vary widely in their δ18O values and display a remarkable 18O/16O disequilibrium relation; especially, a quartz-feldspar reversal (△ 18OQUartz_feldspar3.×10-14 mol. s-1) and high W/ R ratio (0.79-6.14). This means that an intense flow and convection may exist at the midcrustal level of erogenic magmatic arcs.

Sea level variations(SLVs) can be divided into two major components:the steric SLV and the mass-induced *** two components of SLV in the South China Sea(SCS) are studied by using satellite altimetry,GRACE(Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) satellite gravity,and oceanographic data on annual and inter-annual *** the annual timescale,the geographic distribution of mass-induced SLV's amplitude jointly estimated from altimetry and the ECCO(Estimation of the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean) model agrees very well with that from *** observes obvious seasonal mass-induced SLV in the SCS with annual amplitude of 2.7±0.4 cm,which is consistent with the annual amplitude of 2.7±0.3.cm estimated from the steric-corrected *** the inter-annual timescales,the mean SLV in the SCS shows a large oscillation,which is mainly caused by the steric *** trend of mean SLV inferred from altimetry in the SCS is 5.5±0.7 mm/yr for the period of 1993.2009,which is significantly higher than the global sea level rise rate of 3.3.0.4 mm/yr in the same *** is no obvious trend signal in the mass-induced SLV detected from GRACE that indicates the water exchange between the SCS and its adjacent seas and land is in balance within the study period.

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT IN SALINE-ALKALI SOIL AREA OF SONGNEN PLAIN,NORTHEAST CHINA

There is great potential for agriculture in saline-alkali soil area in Songnen Plain, Northeast China. But the sustainable crop production in this area has been restricted by a few of main factors, such as less precipitation, h igher evaporation and frequent drought, high salinity and alkalinity, high excha ngeable sodium content and poor infiltration of the soil, and insufficiency and low availability in nutrition. It is also considered that there are a few of fav orable conditions for agricultural development in this region, such as sufficien t light and heat resources, rich ground water resources, plenty of manure produc ed by livestock, and so on. At the same time, scientific management and measurem ents have been employed; rational irrigation and drainage system has been establ ished; reclamation, amendment and fertilization of soil, and suitable strategies of cropping practices have been made for the sustainable development of agricul ture. Great progress has been made during 1996-2000.
